AI co-worker refers to an artificial intelligence system or tool that collaborates with human employees in a workplace, contributing to tasks, decision-making, and overall productivity. The concept of an AI co-worker is to augment and support human workers rather than replace them. In this video, we'll be exploring AI co-workers and why your next colleague will be an AI.
As technology continues to advance at an unprecedented pace, it's becoming increasingly evident that artificial intelligence (AI) will play a pivotal role in the workplace of the future. The notion that AI will be your next colleague is no longer a distant futuristic concept; it's a reality that's rapidly unfolding. Here's a long description of why your next colleague will likely be an AI:
Efficiency and Productivity: AI is a game-changer when it comes to efficiency and productivity. It can automate repetitive, time-consuming tasks, freeing up employees to focus on more creative, strategic, and high-value tasks. This means that AI isn't just a tool but a collaborator that enhances your work.
Rapid Technological Advancements: Over the past few decades, AI has evolved from being a theoretical concept to a practical tool. With advancements in machine learning, natural language processing, and computer vision, AI has become more capable and versatile. It can perform tasks that were once exclusive to human workers.
Data Analysis: AI has a remarkable ability to analyze vast amounts of data at incredible speeds. It can identify patterns, trends, and anomalies that might be impossible for humans to detect. In roles that involve data-driven decision-making, AI can be an indispensable colleague, offering insights that can shape strategies.
Personalized Assistance: AI-powered virtual assistants like chatbots and voice-activated assistants have already made their way into many workplaces. They can help schedule meetings, answer routine questions, and provide personalized support, acting as a constant, readily available colleague.
Customer Interaction: In customer service and support roles, AI-driven chatbots and automated response systems can handle routine customer inquiries and issues. They can also provide instant responses, ensuring customers receive assistance 24/7.
Enhanced Creativity: AI algorithms are being used to enhance creativity. In fields like music, art, and content creation, AI tools can collaborate with human colleagues, suggesting innovative ideas and even generating content, while humans provide the creative touch.
Continuous Learning and Adaptation: AI doesn't stop learning. It adapts to changing circumstances, improving over time. This adaptability is a valuable trait in workplaces that require keeping up with evolving technologies and market trends.

“A recent Goldman Sachs study found that generative AI tools could, in fact, impact 300 million full-time jobs worldwide, which could lead to a ‘significant disruption’ in the job market.”
“Insider talked to experts and conducted research to compile a list of jobs that are at highest-risk for replacement by AI.”
Tech jobs (Coders, computer programmers, software engineers, data analysts)
Media jobs (advertising, content creation, technical writing, journalism)
Legal industry jobs (paralegals, legal assistants)
Market research analysts
Teachers
Finance jobs (Financial analysts, personal financial advisors)
Traders (stock markets)
Graphic designers
Accountants
Customer service agents
"’We have to think about these things as productivity enhancing tools, as opposed to complete replacements,’ Anu Madgavkar, a partner at the McKinsey Global Institute, said.”
What will be eliminated from all of these industries is the ENTRY LEVEL JOB.  You know, the jobs where newcomers gain valuable real-world experience and build their resumes?  The jobs where you’re supposed to get your 1-2 years of experience before moving up to the big leagues (which remain inaccessible to applicants without the necessary experience, which they can no longer get, because so-called “low level” tasks will be completed by AI).
There’s more...
Wendy’s to test AI chatbot that takes your drive-thru order
“Wendy’s is not entirely a pioneer in this arena. Last year, McDonald’s opened a fully automated restaurant in Fort Worth, Texas, and deployed more AI-operated drive-thrus around the country.”
BT to cut 55,000 jobs with up to a fifth replaced by AI
“Chief executive Philip Jansen said ‘generative AI’ tools such as ChatGPT - which can write essays, scripts, poems, and solve computer coding in a human-like way - ‘gives us confidence we can go even further’.”
Why promoting AI is actually hurting accounting
“Accounting firms have bought into the AI hype and slowed their investment in personnel, believing they can rely more on machines and less on people.“
Will AI Replace Software Engineers?
“The truth is that AI is unlikely to replace high-value software engineers who build complex and innovative software. However, it could replace some low-value developers who build simple and repetitive software.”

i think people should be fully allowed to opt out of working jobs and still be able to live comfortably no matter what their situation is and im not fucking kidding
#i keep thinking about my dad a few weeks back being like 'i think everyone needs to earn their share by working' and internally i was like#actually i think thats fucking stupid LOL but ive thought that for a while now#it also only just occured to me that i dont even know how disabled people fits into that idea of his#but theres many flaws to his idea#granted theres also flaws to mine but im not a fucking government dude idk how that shit works. and idc#cause i still think this should be a thing anyway#and people can be like 'but then no one will work! what about all the jobs that we need!' people will still work dumbass#plus honestly people dont like the idea of jobs being taken by robots but i actually do think some would be fine being taken by robots#like self check out is a thing and old people are like 'wah wah why should i use it if im not being paid to do the cashiers job wah wah'#shut the fuck up who literally gives a single fuck. when im alone i literally always use the self checkout its genuinely faster and easier#and also i dont like interacting with people if i dont have to. win win. plus retail workers are famously miserable#most retail jobs like. might actually just be replacable. not all of them. but some#this has become a lot ignore me lol im just saying stuff#also i know people will be like 'whaaa but youre anti ai wdym you think jobs should be replaced by robots!?'#i think art cant be replaced by robots. but being a fucking cashier? the biggest issue there is just shoplifting i mean come on#whatever this isnt a full on debate or anything im just rambling lol#ignore me

I'm disgusted by how the tech world is becoming the enemy of human creativity.
There's nothing more beautiful to me than the natural world. Right behind that in my appreciation is human creativity. How dare anyone try to remove art, acting, and writing from our daily lives, just to make a quick buck. Just to show that they can make a model that can do impressive things.
Fuck AI.
It's coming to take most office jobs eventually, too, since it's so good at 'thinking' 'creatively'. A handful of well-paid executives poking AI models while the rest of us starve to death in the streets.
Do capitalists - excuse me, 'Job Creators' - think about the fact that if the middle totally drops out, their corporations will have no consumers to buy the products they're trying to sell?I guess it won't matter anyway, they'll just 'diversify', they'll have robots buying other robots' assets in stupid schemes somebody from Harvard Business School will code.
The end game is robots and execs owning everything, everyone else starving and shooting each other, all the while blaming foreign countries, blaming trans people, blaming 'globalists'.No, no, it's none of that, it's Fucking Econ Majors and Tech Bros. They'll be the death of the last remaining shreds of BOTH the 'middle class' and the 'creative class'. Two whole classes of workers at the same time, wiped out economically in the course of a decade.
I seriously hope I'm wrong. The only system I believe in that could make this prediction wrong is perhaps AI being less useful than we all fear it will be. Perhaps it will run face-first into the day-to-day problems of 'workflow'. But only until that workflow is changed. I give my entire industry (software development) about a decade, tops, until it will employ about 10% of the humans it currently does.

please forgive me, but I need to complain and over-share or my brain is going to explode please feel free to ignore
#I'm not doing well.#the last two places I worked (in a tourism-adjacent sector) closed. broadly speaking due to post-lockdown financial issues#for the past year at my current job I've been earning less than half what I used to. this was the only offer I got at the time and#I haven't found anything better since. this is not sustainable I'm barely making it each month...#I live with my parents and cancelled my health insurance I don't know how else to reduce my budget. it's depressing tbh#the solution is obviously to find a better job but that's just not happening and I'm beginning to feel discouraged.#I hate being negative it's a very unattractive character trait but I just feel myself slipping and spiraling#I know I should be taking short courses or volunteering to boost my cv but like when ! and how !#I can't afford to work less but I get home at 20h so even evening courses are tricky. I work every other saturday too so weekends are out#and like I do need to rest at some point you can't be depressed and burnt out that's a terrible combo#was looking at a dtp/typesetting short course and 1) I'll need a new computer that can actually run design programs#and 2) the course itself is like 2 month's salaries which I cannot realistically save right now#and yet I'm still ''over-qualified'' for entry level positions because I went to uni. well maybe that's just a polite excuse#because as interesting as my humanities degrees were they didn't equip me with any practical or marketable skills#besides being good at reading and writing. but AI can do that for free now so that's not helpful#I always thought I was reasonably intelligent but I cannot solve this puzzle. there must be a creative solution that I'm missing#but i feel so stuck and trapped#and at least once a week some poor soul stumbles in to the office practically begging for a job so I feel bad for complaining#a little truly is better than nothing#but thank god we elected more pro-business capitalists into government that really is going to be great for us workers (sarcasm)#also I should acknowledge#I am getting some déjà vu. I feel like I've vented about this topic before#the difference is. back then it was a potential concern. now the concern has materialised into reality and rendered the situation desperate

Things are just so bleak man.
#vent#just me rambling#SO many fucking things#first off and maybe the least bad of all#that one studio that contacted me for a feature film turned me down ultimately#i WANT so dearly to work on features. it's what i want to do. but nobody will give me a chance#because they all want experience on features to work on features. well how do you guys think this works#i'm so tired of it and discouraged#but ultimately that's the least of the issues because#my usual studio is going under. they been struggling financially for years and the CEO did a special meeting to say it#they're lowering activity (one friday every two weeks is off to try and save money) and have 6 months to get back on their feet#which is nothing. they can't find producers willing to dump money in the studio in 6 months esp with ENOUGH to pull it out of the gutter#if they're not better off in 6 months the CEO said ''then ill get back to you with terrible news'' and didn't detail but we know. we know#it's basically said and done in my mind. my main studio as big as it was is crashing down. and idk what ill do.#i bought a flat in this city due to this studio being there- without it this place has no more work to offer me. empty city#job security doesn't exist anymore#and we all know why. producers are much more squeamish about investing in animation because ai is here#why would you give money to allow hundreds of workers to live and pour passion in projects when you can pay a pathetic percentage of that#with midjourney or whatever the shit and get an easy cheap show. rack in more money for smaller an investment#and tumblr is going down that route too. can't get a fucking break anywhere#i'm heartbroken and grieving the world we lost#in a bunch of years looking at art while 100% knowing a person made it with intent will be a memory#being able to not even think about it is already out of our hands#ai 'art' will be everywhere and it will become a new normal. and i'm just.. man.#the world feels so empty already

The truth is, some of us genuinely would be much happier if we could make a living out of our art.
Having an after-work hobby is great, truly, but not nearly enough for some of us. I see posts about how it's ok to create just for the sake of the pleasure and satisfaction it brings, and that's good, that's true, but it's not dirty and fake to want recognition either. It's ok to want to make art for a living. Everyone is constantly scaring us by saying 'don't do what you love as a job, because you'll start hating it'. Is it better to do a job you feel, at best, lukewarm about, and at worst actively hate already? Where would all your favourite musicians be if they listened to that advice? Some of us are meant to make art, not be an accountant, doctor or a bricklayer. Just like with cooking, there are those who cook for their family and like it, but there are also those who become chefs, because it could never be just that for them, even if they still enjoy seeing their family eat their food.
I just think wanting to be an artist full time shouldn't be treated like something unreasonable, when historically, it was a fully viable option for so long.
