Mini-Review: THE HOUSE OF THE DEAD REMAKE

Despite the game being short, the controls 50/50 & the rare graphical hiccup being occasionally off putting, The House of the Dead Remake is an excellent remake of the original arcade rail-shooter. I’d recommend this game to HOTD fans & fans of rail-shooters in general only during a sale AND you have a mod that allows you to use actual light guns for playing, unless you have the Nintendo Switch version and have gyro controls enabled in order to re-create that arcade feel.

Either way, this remake rules. Now bring Time Crisis to PC!

Btw, if anybody knows of a good PC mod or what light guns to get for this game, please let me know in the comments. Thanks.

julie e os fantasmas (original julie and the phantoms) was so wild. like, what do you mean the boys were crushed to death by a truck? what do you mean julie has committed more than one crime? what do you mean the main triangle consists of a rockstar with a closet dnd player vs a my chemical romance revenge era rejected song? what do you mean the ghost love interest was a menace to society in life and public enemy number 1 in death? what do you mean he was tortured more than once? what do you mean there was a dude trying to enslave ghosts and this plotline only lasted two episodes????

The House of the Dead 2: Remake will launch for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC via Steam and GOG this spring, publisher Forever Entertainment and developer MegaPixel Studio announced.

The House of the Dead 2: Remake is a remake of the second entry in the well-known and popular rail shooter series. Take on the lone role of a secret agent as James or Gary, or team up in cooperative mode to neutralize the dangerous undead monsters standing in your way.

Story

In February 2000, a small city was suddenly overrun by hostile creatures. Two AMS agents, James Taylor and Gary Stewart, were sent to investigate. Upon arrival, they noticed that the situation resembled the Curien Mansion incident from 1998. Determined to uncover the source of the infestation, they began shooting their way through hordes of creatures.

The upcoming second remake of the classic arcade horror rail shooter set to be released by Forever Entertainment and Microids has been officially rated on the ESRB website with an M rating featuring the usual blood and gore.

Here is the description from the rating summary:

“This is a rail shooter light gun game in which players assume the role of an agent in search of a missing colleague in Venice, Italy. From a first-person perspective, navigate through the city while using pistols to shoot and kill zombies and mutant creatures. Killing creatures often results in decapitation and/or dismemberment, with large blood-splatter effects. Combat is often fast paced, accompanied by gunfire, screams of pain, and large explosions. A handful of sequences depict civilians attacked and killed by enemy creatures.”

With the game being officially rated on ESRB, we may not have to suffer like G did as The House of the Dead 2: Remake might be just around the corner. Once an official announcement trailer releases, we will be sure to cover the news here!
