I find it incredibly endearing when a very niche or relatively small piece of media has fan service for people that enjoyed the previous entries. Like House of the Dead 2 having the final boss from House of the Dead 1 show up as the semifinal boss or Kirby on the NES having a black and white level as a throwback to Kirby‘s Dreamland for the Game Boy.
