hey so uh was it casual when you were taking tender care of me at my ugliest and most grotesque, feeding me your last pills so i wouldn't feel pain even if you would. was it casual when i was begging you not to take me to the hospital so i could die in your arms instead. was it casual when i grabbed your shirt with all my energy and you ran your fingers through my hair as you made a promise you actually kept. was it casual when we walked back into work the next day like nothing happened and yet you made me laugh through the uncertainty. was any of this casual

This. This was houses love confession.

Throughout the whole show there have been themes of characters reflecting their problems onto patients and talking about the patient when they're actually talking about themselves.

House - the one uncomfortable with human emotions like love - making a conversation that was heading to talking about Wilsons feelings, into a joke that is even more steered towards love and whatnot.

Maybe, house just randomly decided to make a gay joke in a very tender moment before starting a treatment that might kill his best friend, you know, a moment where you might... confess something.

Or he finally said i love you without actually having to. In this essay i will-

GOD the house not feeling like he deserves to live parallel coupled with wilson’s words. OUGHHHHHH. THIS SHOW.

Okay, but can I just say what I'll never get over? The fact that House didn't take the last few pills of Vicodin he had left because he wanted to give them to Wilson. Although Wilson was probably going to throw them up, anyway. Although it meant that he himself would be in pain, the very thing we've seen House trying to avoid the whole show. Because, at this point, House didn't care if he would be in pain anymore; he just didn't want to see Wilson in pain. Because seeing Wilson's pain would probably hurt more than his own pain...

And then they have this conversation:

"I should have spent my life being more like you. Should have been a manipulative, self-centered, narcissistic ass, who brought misery to everything and everyone in his life."

"You'd still have cancer."

"Yeah! But at least I'd feel like I deserved it."

And House knows Wilson is lashing out because of the pain he's in. Hell, he knows he's pretty much the same when in pain. And he is in pain, he's gripping his leg when he walks, because he didn't take the Vicodin. Yet, he just sits on the floor next to Wilson, looking completely lost, as if the ultimate irony of life has started dawning on him just now.

And it really breaks my heart...

Just watched “The C-Word” for the first time and I can’t even-

“We’ll do it at my place.”

“Are you okay?”

“You have everything you need right here. We both do.”

“Okay. I promise.”

Wilson clutching House’s shirt.

House not taking his Vicodin because Wilson needs it.

House stroking Wilson’s hair.

House helping Wilson walk even though his leg is in agony.

“I’ll see you at lunch.”

s8 e19 spoilers im not normal about this

wilson knowing without hesitation the names, ages, types of cancer, survival expectation and death day of 3 people who died years ago when he sees death every day is so fucking special to me. you know he hasn't forgotten any death in all his years of doctoring

wilson feeds off neediness but would rather kill himself than be pitied. "if there's even a CHANCE i die slowly in a hospital bed being gawked at and lied to about how i look i won't take it" wilson you crazy bastard.

(god there's just something about this reaction vs how house acts when he's hospitalised. i don't have the words or coherence rn but its at least a 500 word essay)

house offering to do it at his apartment (i hate this i love you im putting myself in a position where you can't leave or kick me out because i need you to know i care about you and won't let you be alone)

house explaining how much pain wilson will be in and wilson realising afterwards that he was talking from experience

house saying him and wilson have "all they need" in the apartment after wilson voicing his upset about not having a wife and kids to look after him. this whole episode is just a declaration of love. what even happened with the patient i was NOT paying attention

wilson hallucinating the kid specifically. he wants to suffer because he takes all the death and suffering on his head he DOES feel like he deserves it he just had the simultaneous realisation that he also wants to live ("would i do it all again? make the same mistakes? given half the chance, yes. yes.")

wilson sobbing about not wanting to die in an ambulance, not wanting to die in a hospital. something something amber's last moments being so painfully lucid. so clearly surrounded by death. by the failure of her own body to keep her alive. in that huge white room being able to see the bypass machine keeping her alive. hearing the heart monitor. a bed too small for the two of them. he's seen so many people die in hospitals. he's heard of so many people dying in ambulances. its the desperation of it all. the ultimate place of healing and when it fails it breaks your world into 7 billion little pieces.

something something amber died of the flu wilson the oncologist dying of cancer. "young do gooders shouldn't suffer like that"

house promising not to do it. house not lying about it. house not getting one wink of sleep because he has to check for wilson's chest rising and falling.

house clearly taking wilson's insults to heart but making sure his friend doesn't feel bad about it. head in hands.........

this point has been made to hell and back but house weighing up the vicodin and choosing alcohol instead. 1. he doesn't have a stockpile anymore. and 2. he cares so much. he cares so much. he knows his best friend might be dying on his couch and he doesn't want those last moments to be painful

wilson laughing so hard at house's stupid vacation photoshoot. i wanna bottle that joy up and listen to it when im upset

Has anyone else ever noticed the parallel between House’s Amber hallucination on the bus in Wilson’s Heart and Wilson’s hallucination of John in The C Word?

Both House and Wilson ask Amber/John “Am I dead?” and they both get the reply of “Not yet”.

Something I’d not noticed until today…
