I honestly think we should consider adding "anti-intersex" to "anti-trans legislation". I think intersex people are explicitly also the target as much as trans people. Hormones save lives for trans people, but they also do for intersex people? If I do not have access to hormones for my condition I would bleed out and literally perish. Like I understand how "biological gender is only male or female" hurts trans people, but I don't understand why it's not said that it hurts intersex people as well? I feel like intersex people are just a "gotcha" to conservatives and not seriously considered past that.

I can't stand seeing Louis haters on my dash. What do you mean he was "mean to Lestat (or even Armand)"?? Louis is not perfect and he is not meant to be but most people wouldn’t survive what he went through. And the people he lashed out at had it coming, why are we coddling hundreds of years old vampires?? Louis was manipulated and abused and calling him "annoying" for acting out aganist that or being depressed is disgusting.

jokes on people because I love loumand because they ARE a failmarriage. I found them becoming companions again and spending time with sybenji in tvc a little bit crazy considering claudias death, I wanted to see the horror of louis dealing with his companion killing his daughter, I wanted the resentment, but we didnt get that. Yes, they still have some cute moments past the first book I'll be missing but overall I think what people need to remember is that amcs iwtv has different approach towards abuse than tvc and that will alter the course of relationships, claudias death and louis' trauma shouldnt be just brushed off, and imo one big fatal flaw with these books is that these vampires will do all of these horrible things but never suffer any consequences because any interpersonal conflicts they have are nullified for the sake of the plot, like in qotd where you have santino casually playing chess with armand, and sorry ms. Anne but that doesnt make any sense:( and its so boring. So, I know future loumand will be different, probably not that close....but the angst!! THE ANGST!!! I am thrilled what theyre going to do with them anyway

Yeah, this is absolutely a gripe I have had consistently across all the TVC books; is that other than Armand being 1# Gabrielle Hater, no one is capable of harboring any substantial hard feelings for another. Sometimes this is funny, like when Lestat immeidatly after learning about Nicki's death goes "Well Armand is so strong and brave for not killing him sooner. I know that was really hard for him." and other times its like mindbogglingly frustrating, Like David Talbot forgiving Lestat for turning him because "I secretly wanted it anyway even if I didn't realize it and begged you to stop and not to do it the entire time." or just everyones relationship with Marius-

Now, I am a showverse Trinity Gate truther, mostly because being irrational is my favorite hobby- but yes I agree that Louis, above all else, deserves to hold to his grief and anger and work through it in the foreground. I don't want the next time we see Armand and Louis in the same room to be sunshine and rainbows or even something fairly lukewarm. I want all that simmering resentment to rise to the top and let them reaaally hash it out. The squandered connection between them is so juicy, because it could have been so good. Getting to talk about how a sweet romance can turn into a cage. Loumand is like going over your friends house and realizing their parents fuckin' hate eachother but still makes everyone have dinner together every night. It's morbidly amazing how well they know eachother but how little they understand.

That line in the very first episode when Daniel asks where Louis’s coffin is and Louis says basically “this is it, this fancy tower, this whole place is my coffin” (and then Armand as Fake Rashid is the one who raises the window shade omg) really hits different now rewatching it. It always sounded like Louis was uncomfortable about it but yeah. It’s a coffin, it’s a prison. You’ve been buried alive here. You always knew it was wrong even when you couldn’t remember why. It isn’t a home, it’s a coffin.

Though it is unclear whether the revenant vampire can even recognise language, Claudia continues to try to communicate with it. Claudia assumes that the reason for the revenant’s disinterest is due to her not being recognisable as a vampire. The dangers of drinking the blood of corpses was one of the first of Claudia’s limited lessons, and she now shares it with this stranger freely and without any sense of superiority. Rather than being wary after the revenant hurts her, Claudia seems giddy at the physical proof of its existence. Claudia is just as enthusiastic to meet a vampire that seems to be disabled as she is to meet one who is not. While Louis openly rejects the revenant for its physical otherness, refusing to accept it as kin, Claudia embraces it.

I'm probably not going to verbalise this appropriately but I find it fascinating that the 2 occasions on which Louis has been actively hostile to Daniel in Dubai...

1- It's been due to a highly sensitive subject for Louis (Claudia; still being hung up on Lestat despite a 77 year marriage)

2- Armand has stepped in to get in between them in some way or another.

THANK YOU FOR SAYING IT because sometimes I have felt like I'm going crazy. The level of craft Assad is bringing to his role is incredible. Armand is such a difficult character to embody, emotionally and physically, and it would be so easy to mess him up through bad or unconsidered acting choices and have the whole season fall apart. Assad makes it look effortless. It's crazy that people are putting him on the same level as Eric (whose acting is laughably bad sometimes) or Sam (who I personally enjoy, but is hardly doing anything particularly noteworthy or interesting this season be serious people). Jacob-Delainey-Assad are clearly the stand outs of IWTV S2, which is why it's so transparent when AMC pulls bullshit like this.

I've actually had an interesting exchange with a friend who wasn't totally taken in by Assad's choices, and so I think there is a lot of room to analyse his style. I enjoy that kind of in-depth discussion, when I know I'm not talking with people just looking for a reason to write the brown guy off.

I enjoyed Eric's work immensely, but I also recognised him playing himself in the same way as Zohra Sehgal used to show up in every Hindi film of a certain generation to be the quirky grandmom.

And Sam, well, he sure was there, wasn't he.

Saw you're comment on a different post about Warsaw Demeter being canon Griz's daughter in that production. Was that in the book you got, or somewhere else, because I very much love that.

Hi! Yes, it is mentioned twice in the Warsaw book, in both Griz's and Demeter's character descriptions, both mention that other cats stand in the way of them meeting and that Demeter "cannot come to terms with the fact that other cats do not want to accept her mother into the clan"

I do accept it as canon, partially cuz the book and partially cuz in the boot you can see that they do have some sort of a relationship (Deme and Griz reach out to each other in the beginning, Deme seems to be really invested in the whole Griz thing and is really anxious and worried around her, Deme is first one to greet Griz after Vic touches her)

The book has its issues, but as long as it doesn't contradict what can be seen on stage I guess it's as close to a written canon as you can get

And I believe these character descriptions were written based on interviews with the actors/crew and probably the author seeing the show, so there's that

As a bonus, this Deme is Griz's daughter seems to be a Polish prod thing, as someone told me that in the other Polish production, Cats Chorzów, they seem to have kept this idea, but there Deme is Griz's biggest hater and thus is the one to touch her at the end

One thing I think is interesting/useful to note about the Rose Red book is that it is a book that was published in the OUATIS galaxy a little under ten years after the war, and that it has an in-story author— and, crucially, that author is not necessarily an entirely reliable narrator.

More rambling about this under the cut

The author, Althea, is a normcivilian with an unusual amount of sympathy for the now-decommissioned Rose Reds. This is not a popular position, and between:

A) her rhetorical goal of changing the minds of people actively against the Rose Reds being allowed to survive

B) the constraints of mainstream publishers, who are under social/political pressure to not threaten the new government, requiring her to be both neutral and not too challenging,

C) her own corresponding bias in believing that neutrality is both possible and desirable,

and D) her limited viewpoint as a normcivilian (not a Rose Red) from a privileged background,

There are quite a lot of places where events, people, and viewpoints are presented in ways that are somewhat misleading. Althea has a degree in journalism, but she does not live in an entirely free society, and both external forces and her own biases do color the narrative she presents throughout the book.

In short, she’s the equivalent of a left-leaning ally to a marginalized group who’s a bit more centrist than one might hope and is presenting herself as even more centrist in order to be published at all through mainstream channels and taken seriously by people who are biased against her cause.

I have old rock and metal CDs that my dad left in the van that I listen to on a loop. Mostly, it's just background noise to help keep me focused. I have no feelings about the songs; it's just sound. How much do you care about your visage? "Like...I have standards for personal hygiene. I wash my face, brush my teeth, put on clean clothes. I look how I look. If you don't like how the One made me, that's a you problem."

What's your favorite color and why? "I'm not a child. Favourite colours are for children. But I probably wear black the most; it doesn't draw attention, hides blood and dirt reasonably well, so it takes longer for my clothes to be noticeably stained and I have to throw them away."
