Hello everyone. It’s been an awful long time since I was active here. I have to say it that even though hosie wasn’t endgame, they will always be special and important for me. They will always mean a lot to me. Hosie gave me the strength and the courage to be who I am and fight through. I miss being active here. I hope that, maybe one day I get the time to watch another show. But there’s one thing for sure, there’s gonna be no other couple like hosie at least for me.

While talking with @avengerskye earlier today about ideas for the Hosie actress exes fic (more on that later 🤞), I realized lately I’ve been feeling in the mood to write something bittersweet.

And then I wondered if it might be the season…Josie walks into a bar (sigh) began during fall-into-winter, and of course the entire Josie Saltzman’s Final Holidays trilogy…even A Visit from Saint Nicholas. Coincidence?

(The best ones always break my heart twice (double sigh) maybe is a counter-example, but it also has a very different vibe to it, less bittersweet…perhaps because it began in the summer?)

thoughts on posie? if penelope came back, could you see them getting back together near the end and it making sense for both of their arcs? (this is assuming the writers stuck to hosie= sisters lol)

I'm gonna answer this, now that I'm past the episode where Penelope is gone (on my rewatch).

There was never any angle where hosie were sisters at all, since season 1's arc between Hope, Josie and Lizzie all revolves completely around Josie's crush on Hope. But I'm gonna just assume you meant if we lived in an alternate universe where the show was written without any romantic feelings and somehow the twins and Hope actually did get along and act like sisters.

Although imo, even if Josie didn't have feelings for Hope and Hope didn't also crush on her, it still wouldn't have ever been like sisters... Hope's relationship with Ric is very odd and never fully feels parental to me, even though she does say he's the closest thing she has to a father in season 2. It almost feels like they're co-workers or like he's grooming her (he is, unfortunately. I don't even mean sexually/romantically, I just mean that there's an episode in season 4 that reveals in a flashback that Ric is only being nice to Hope because he's afraid of her and wants to make sure she protects his daughters. Which is probably also why he kept trying to encourage them to get along). Obviously Hope should not be operating like Ric's co-worker because she's a teenager, but y'know... that's part of why the relationship is so fucked up to me.

Anyway, this is a tangent and several rabbit holes and not what you asked.

I don't particularly ship posie myself just because... I dunno, I just don't ship it, lol. I don't even have any good reasons for that, it's just not my cup of tea. I don't usually like the exes trope with my ships, but on top of that I hate how it feels like Josie doesn't really like Penelope or admire her in any kind of way that shows she has respect for her.

Penelope very clearly has deep feelings for Josie and you can see it just on her face several times through their scenes. She's glowing when she sees Josie smiling when they descend the stairs for Miss Mystic Falls because she thinks for one moment that Josie is going to listen to her and just do what she wants to do. The chemistry on Penelope's side, even just during the dance rehearsal, makes it so obvious how much warmth Pen has for Josie.

I also think there's like a hint of depth to Penelope that people often overlook because they just say she was mean to Lizzie. Which, she was, lol, but people forget (and honestly I forgot it too, because the fandom kind of gaslit me by just saying Lizzie was the one being treated poorly all season 1 and some people even said Pen was ableist. anyway) Lizzie was also really cruel to people. I'm always gonna point to the talent show episode for this, because we see examples of Lizzie calling the other witches fat, berating/borderline yelling at Josie for voicing her thoughts on the talent they're performing and wanting to do something else, etc. I mean, that was an example of what happens when Josie says blatantly what she wants to Lizzie. We even see Penelope still suited up in the uniform Lizzie wants her in, despite her not liking Lizzie. Lizzie is still kind of queen bee, even if the other witches don't like her, presumably because her parents run the school. And then in the AU episode, the jinni points this out too by saying that in public school, the students aren't as careful with Lizzie and aren't afraid to tread on her feelings. That, to me, also further strengthens the narrative that the students at the boarding school did hold back to some extent.

The other seasons, from what I remember (I'm only on season 1 of my rewatch) do show the students being mean to Lizzie in retaliation, but I don't think it's to the extent of how Lizzie was treated at Mystic Falls High in the AU. Though, they do laugh at her funeral, which is??? Wild. And there is another conversation to be had about how the showrunners treated Lizzie on a zoomed out scale because, like... I do think it's weird they chose to make her have bipolar disorder and then they picked the storyline where she's the one who's mean and self-centered. That by itself is a bit weird, just because they intermix the two topics completely irresponsibly sometimes. That issue spreads out into the fandom and how people talk about pretty much everything involving Lizzie and there's so much that's just problematic. I think that's also why people think Penelope's line "you're a black hole of time, love, etc" is ableist. But I tend to think it was more just that like... the ableism of Julie was seeping in and interweaving itself with an attempt at showing that Lizzie actually is ALSO just mean to people and inconsiderate, which is not because she has bipolar disorder. The two are separate and because of incompetence from Julie, the two mix themselves and it turns into a mess of bad representation. Does that make sense 😭 I also think that's why she thought certain things would be okay to go unaddressed. So. Ultimately, I think Lizzie was not written cohesively when it came to her mental illness, some of the ableism of the showrunners came through and then sometimes the other unrelated parts of Lizzie's character that just suck (her being kind of mean) get completely erased by the fandom because of their frustration with the other things. And I think in the new narrative by the fandom, Penelope tends to suffer a large brunt of alllll of that. So people just blanket say she was ableist and that's it, when I think there's just way more going on for that conversation.

Anyway, another tangent. What I mean to say is I think some of Pen's meanness is because she doesn't like that Lizzie herself is mean to the other witches, including Josie. It would help if we saw more of it on screen, but the bones/implication of that are still present if you watch the show. Penelope also has a friendly rapport with other characters, so she's not just mean all the time. She wants to help MG and genuinely smiles when she sees him dancing with Lizzie, she helps Raf with a cloaking spell and disguises it as making fun of Lizzie but I honestly think she just likes the boys, she basically gives Landon therapy and tells him the secret about his mom... etc. I think Penelope is pretty well liked at the school, so I think Lizzie broadly fits the mean girl trope more than Pen. It's just that Pen was traumatized when she learned about the Merge and the girl she loved maybe being absorbed, so she started lashing out at Lizzie because she was upset. Not a great way to go about it, which is why I think Hope and Josie's dynamic is more interesting/beautiful, but anyway.

I think the fandom puts too much on Penelope, even if she's not my favorite character. And I think she genuinely probably was a good girlfriend to Josie, but despite that Josie doesn't seem to like her. I assume their breakup was pretty ugly and maybe Penelope said some nasty things, but idk. Josie is also, understandably, very defensive of Lizzie and is upset/angry that Penelope doesn't like her. Because at the end of the day, Lizzie was her first best friend and she's her twin sister.

But moments like where Josie tells her "you and I only make out when slugs are possessing our brains" or when, after their kiss, Josie says "I hate you" just... jgrkhj turn me off from the dynamic. I don't really like that kind of dynamic in a ship? I prefer it when it feels like both characters are like unreasonably obsessed with the other to the point of it being almost reverent. I love when ships almost elevate the other person to being worshipped in their mind. Like with hosie, I love how Hope was coveted by Josie for years and years and she saw her as someone who was strong/good/beautiful. I love "Of course I did. who wouldn't?" and the implication that she thinks Hope is just the most perfect thing to ever exist and she just pines after her even when she tries to ignore it or squash it. I also love how, in return, Hope trusts and is drawn to Josie even when she has no real 'reason' to be and she's nice to Josie for things she never would be for anyone else. It's very hard for Hope to be angry with Josie and it pretty much just... doesn't happen? She has this soft spot for her that's bordering on completely unreasonable and I think it's incredibly romantic. In that way, they both return each other's energy. In contrast, with Penelope, Josie harbors all of these complicated feelings. She clearly still likes Penelope and misses her when she leaves, so there are unresolved romantic feelings present, but yeah.

It just doesn't feel as big a deal as the ones she has for Hope, so the ship just never hit for me. There's also no build up and we have no idea how they started dating or... any of that.

So I get why people love posie, but for me I just don't care about it, I guess.

Trying to put aside my biases, do I think they could get back together at the end? Well, for starters, both of their arcs are incomplete. Penelope was written off and we knew almost nothing about her. Josie's arc was absolutely butchered, had no real climax or conclusion and her write off made zero sense.

So it's hard to say, like, would it make 'sense' for the characters when they weren't fully formed like they deserved. I think it's plausible that they could date again, especially since Josie decided to separate herself from Lizzie and we're supposed to assume the Merge issue is resolved now. So.. maybe? That being said, the writers and showrunner made it extremely vague if Josie was going to be near Penelope in Belgium.

When asked, Brett basically dodged it and wouldn't confirm if it's the same school/if she's with Penelope. Which... I guess I'm okay with, since I'm not a posie shipper. I can see how, if you care about sapphic rep, this might be kind of a cop out answer, especially after how poorly posie was treated to begin with. But at the same time I think that might be the best way he can answer it, because making it official that she's with Penelope would be almost sloppy too, since her character never came back and we never had more of that arc develop, y'know? Like just in a writing quality kind of way, it might make more sense for it to be open ended I suppose.

But basically, to answer the original question, I do think it's plausible they could date again with all those obstacles cleared. It's just not my personal choice for Josie

Just some thoughts while working on 'the space between all things'.

I went into the (vague) planning phase of the fic deciding that I wanted to make Lizzie a central part of the story, as she is an integral part of Josie's life (both in this fic but also, as we all know, in canon) and because I think the twins' individual and combined dynamic with Hope is so interesting. Mostly I wanted to explore a version of the twins dynamic that is strained in a way only family is, where you can have such an unconditional love yet live heartbreaking worlds apart form each other.

Anyways, I went into the fic with that kind of mindset, but I didn't realize how much Lizzie would actually appear and also how much I would like writing about her in particular. I mean I already adored Lizzie before and she's one of my favourite characters in Legacies (and tbh tvdu in general), so it isn't difficult to like writing about her in that sense. She's actually the funniest character in my fic I think, other than Penelope maybe (Or at least I'm trying to make her witty and funny, though I'm not irl, so don't know if it's working lol).

But I'm actually struggling not to let her bleed too much into every page in both Josie's POV and Hope's POV (yes I'm writing a few POV chapters for Hope<3) since it is a hosie story before all. But while writing it I realized that Hope and Josie wouldn't even be in this predicament they're in, if not for Lizzie being in their lives and it just would not make sense at all and then this story would not be happening in the first case. This shows in my writing too since I include Lizzie in all of Josie and Hope's POVs, whether in passing or that she's physically in the scene, but if I erased those scenes - even the ones where Lizzie is just being Lizzie adding to the fun of the story more than the plot - it would feel empty somehow? Like Lizzie is just such a central part of their lives and erasing those scenes of her would be wrong? (heavy deja vu from everyone forgetting Hope in season 2)

And this just made me realize that I actually need to make Lizzie play an even more central role than I anticipated in this specific fic, and actually add instead of erase scenes. Josie wouldn't be Josie without Lizzie and Lizzie wouldn't be Lizzie without Josie and that is the cause of both love and pain in their relationship and that is beautiful.

And I say that it is I that need to make Lizzie play a bigger role, but in my mind it's Lizzie demanding to be the main character herself, and that makes me love writing as cliche as it sounds XD Because these characters seriously feel so alive to me and I love them so much.

Not sure what my point was, but to end this: I just think it's really wonderful how writing and reading fanfiction gives one a whole new appreciation of characters, one that probably couldn't be achieved just from canon. So I'm just so happy that authors share their stories with strangers on the internet, because it makes fandom better and readers like myself will always appreciate it and on that note we should all remember to let the authors out there know that<3

out of curiosity, are you a hosie or a hizzie? you're pretty loud about your dislike for handon, but i rarely see you post either hosie or hizzie.

Honestly, I had to think hard to answer this because I really did enjoy aspects of both ships. Short answer, I like both but don't love either. If I had to choose I would likely say Hizzie.

With Hosie I feel like they lacked a lot of the depth despite them being the most popular ship in the show. Ironically enough, they followed in KC's footsteps in that sense. They never really had enough build-up for them to start a relationship at any point in the show and it didn't help that the writers seemingly put a ban on them in s3. After being called out for queerbaiting the audience they just decided to completely cut Hope and Josie off from each other, even in situations that would've called for them to interact (s2 literally ended with them having an episode heavily centric on their dynamic, yet there was no follow up in s3?).

Their dynamic for the most part bored me, even as someone who enjoys the friends-to-lovers trope. Often times their scenes felt a bit empty, which definitely could’ve been intentional on the writers part to dissuade people from shipping them to be fair! They just didn’t get enough content for me to fully jump on board. I do think that out of Hope's popular ships, they had the best chemistry. They felt very natural in the scenes they shared and could've been great in canon. Had DRR and Kaylee been given the chance, Hosie would’ve been one of the few canon Legacies ships that had real romantic chemistry.

Hope and Lizzie’s relationship very clearly the star of the show. The best elements of the show were jumpstarted by their relationship (their rivals-to-friends era in s1, their hilarious scenes in s2 and 3, and their tribrid/heretic, sirebond, and enemies era in s4). The writers put more effort into Hizzie than any other aspect of the show, including Hope and Lizzie's canon relationships with their boring boyfriends. Typically, Hizzie is the thing the Legacies writers are praised for the most, and the praise is deserved.

Based on the writing alone Hizzie would've gone down as one of my favorite TVDU ships, maybe even one of my favorite ships period. But I don’t think DRR and Jenny have much romantic chemistry. Very close friends and platonic soulmates, yes. Girlfriends... I'd have to actually see it to believe it. They had the potential to start something, especially in season 4, but I’m not sure how it would feel to actually watch them have romantic scene.

It’s hard to say which I'd rather have been canon because of this. I can't see how Hope and Josie’s relationship being entertaining to watch (assuming that I can't go back and rewrite their relationship) and unless DRR and Jenny were specifically toning down whatever romantic chemistry they may have, I can't see myself rooting for them to kiss on screen. If I absolutely had to choose? Before s4 I would’ve said Hizzie by a long shot, but s4 gave Hosie an edge (I love ships where one or both of them are obsessively down bad and s4 Josie fit that to a T. Josie caring more about the girl that beat her father nearly to death, threatened to kill her mother, and actually killed her sister? EAT EAT EAT!), but also the sirebond gave Hizzie a bit of an edge (how could you not get even a little buzz from “I hate you for making me love you”?)… Hizzie was the first Legacies ship I fell for so I feel like I’m always gonna be a bit bias towards them.

I’d choose either one of these ships over the train wreck that was Hope and Landon in a heartbeat though! Both had potential to be excellent in their own ways if H.ndon wasn’t shoved down our throats.

i'm ignoring the stress that is my ffxiv still not working (I followed some steps I found on reddit and I don't have the directx error anymore but the actual game will not launch after pressing play in launcher so that's fun--happy 1yr ffxiv anniversary to me rip) and instead i'm just gonna ramble about my Hosie Born To Save series

so i finished writing chapter 28 of We're Reckless And In Danger and working on chapter 29 (it's the big angsty one) and I'm also looking at the bonus/intermission chapters that I worked on/in my drafts that I usually post once the main series fic is done (I did that once So I Swear That I'll Protect It, the "first season" of the series, was completed)

And it's interesting to see the shift in focus of these post-main story intermission ficlets for WRAID versus SISTIPI. I won't say too much because spoilers, but I'm really excited to share some of these side-stories post-WRAID's completion, mostly because a lot of these, I discovered, are way more angsty than the side-stories for post-SISTIPI oops

There is one side-story that's been giving me a lot of issues writing wise, mostly because of the erm, topic in which that side-story kinda focuses on is a lot (I believe @uncleasad got a small idea of what that is when I was replying to their comment on one of the chs in WRAID with a link to a song) so it's been... An interesting journey writing that. And also editing it in a way that flows nicely and isn't entirely too heavy.

but i also guess it isn't a Rika fic if I don't throw in heavy angst lol

aside from that, the latter half of WRAID I think will have a shift in tone because of what's happening in the story (don't worry, I'm not pulling a Sad Bedroom Eyes and having Hope and Josie break up lmao. But what I can say it's worse than what happened in SBE >:3)

it's for sure gonna test their relationship going forward and into the final main story of the series, "We Were Born To Fight For This"

and I have more Hosie stuff in the works for post-WWBTFFT as well and I'm excited about one post-WWBTFFT ficlet especially as it's going to tie up a few ideas I've been wanting to share (although if you follow me and see me post a lot about my Hosie fankids, then mayhaps you'll have an inkling of an idea on what "few ideas" refer to lol--or if you read my Hosie FFXIV AU fics then same thing)

1. Your favourite non-canon ship?

I think this should come as no surprise based on like everything about my blog lol— it’s Hosie for sure :)

Although most of my favorite TVDu ships are noncanon. And I have quite a few I like a lot.

And Hosie is my favorite ship in the TVDu canon or noncanon.

8. Your oldest ship; the one you’ve shipped for the longest time?

Short answer is Posie.

Long answer is that this is interesting because I have watched/am watching these shows out of order. I didn’t watch any tv shows as a young kid, so early teens I started catching up on everything I missed so to speak. And I really could not get into s1 of TVD. I tried several times over the years and I was just not hooked at all.

And I also started watching TO with somebody a couple years later, though I don’t think we finished s1 before my ADHD was onto something else. Although I do remember enjoying it at the time.

And then Legacies started airing and a friend convinced me to watch with them by dangling the canon gays in front of me, the gay friend. And it worked of course. I wasn’t at all involved with fandom while the show was airing, and I wasn’t even watching it weekly, I’d go and catch up occasionally sometimes months after a season had finished. I didn’t finish s4 until late spring/early summer 2023.

(Also the more I learn about what fandom was like, the more glad I am that I was just casually watching. Think it would have ruined the experience for me. Because I have a ton of issues with the show itself, I love so many of the characters and relationships/dynamics but the plot leaves a lot to be desired and the direction of the show itself and I think fandom would have put me off watching.)

Anyway I started hyperfixating on Hope later in summer 2023, and decided to watch TVD/TO literally solely for her backstory.

(Because I want to rewatch Legacies now that I’m actually a fan, not just casually watching, and I wanted to watch TO first because of how much she’s in it and her family. And they originally showed up in TVD obviously hence the watching all of it.)

I wasn’t expecting to actually get into the shows. This time I started watching from the last TVD episode I was sure I had watched (like mid s1 I think) and well turns out it was only the first half of s1 I couldn’t get into! I really liked the second half and continued watching just because I was enjoying it, no longer just for Hope reasons.

(Also I still haven’t finished TVD/TO. I’m watching them according to some listed order I found online, and I’m mid s6 of TVD/mid s2 of TO)

TLDR Legacies is the only one of the 3 shows I’ve watched all of and I watched it first, so the first ships I got into in this universe were in that show. I will say the only ships I actually shipped while watching were Posie, Methan and Cleope. Everything else that I now ship, I got into later.

(I came close to shipping Hizzie after Lizzie’s love confession. Hope fooled me just like she fooled Lizzie that that had gotten her humanity back. Oh the heartbreak. Anyways I watched the rest of the show believing Lizzie was in love with Hope, but I didn’t really think it was at all reciprocated idk why. I have obviously since changed my mind.)

28. Is there a character you have several ships for?

If you’ve read this far, I think you can see the answer is yes! However, prior to the past year the answer would have been no. I have historically not been able to multi ship (it’s a flaw, I’ve worked on it lol).

During my first watch of Legacies, I could not conceive of shipping Josie with literally anyone besides Penelope despite her not being in 3/4ths of the show lol.

I accidentally got into Hosie after I finished the show and the multi shipping ban went out the window. I am basically here for every single possible femslash in Legacies canon or noncanon.

I have a lot of Hope ships, she’s very shippable, my favorites: Hosie, Hizzie, Cleope

And two main Josie ships: Hosie, Posie

I’m not that invested in any ships in TVD/TO at this point in time although there’s many dynamics I enjoy watching, several that do include the same characters.

Music: Mostly stuff that was popular before I was born; I grew up hearing late 50s/60s/early 70s oldies at home (as the songfic tag will attest), so my only exposure to contemporary popular music was whatever fellow students could convince the bus driver to play. Also familiar with/fond of a smattering of classic rock and early-ish Taylor Swift. But the way to my heart is through Simon & Garfunkel…

Lifestyle: What even is a lifestyle? 😂 I like plants, flowers, trees, birds, gardening, camping (though I haven’t been in ages), and, generally, being outdoors is the best part of my day in those tiny remnants of seasons we call “spring” and “fall.” I used to love reading for pleasure and as a kid spent vast swaths of summer in the cool of the basement with books…before high school English and grad school.

Writing: I wrote my first sci-fi story in 3rd grade—and continued the series all the way into high school; it became more personal and probably cringeworthy along the way. My first fanfic was a definitely-cringeworthy “continuation” of War and Remembrance written in 6th grade. Travel abroad in my late teens put me in the headspace to appreciate poetry for the first time; I made my first collection senior year in high school and have been writing off and on (mostly off; it requires a particular emotional state—one year I finished the year with nearly 100 pieces and I don’t really want to do that ever again) ever since (there’s currently one piece here). When I’m not writing essays in tumblr reblogs or in comments on fanfics (my academic brain can’t be kept in a box all the time 😂), since 2020 I’ve been writing Hosie fanfic. I usually have some kernel of idea or a fun-sounding scene and piece it all together from there. But I’ve been in a bit of slump for a while.

Me: Night owl, history nerd, map lover, keeper of the family tree, more and more and more introverted as time goes by (though sometimes I can pass as a non-introvert on the internet). I’ve been called an old soul. I’ve worn a lot of hats in my life, but mentioning them specifically starts to veer dangerously from pseudonymous to personally identifiable. Have lived or spent a fortnight or longer on 4 of the 7 continents, though I’ve never set foot on the one closest to me. No living grandparents. Elder sibling.

top ten favorite hosie fics of all time, go

What a fun Ask! 🙏 Also, are you trying to kill me?! 😂

A few weeks ago, TheDarkestHour13 introduced the concept of Hope and Rafael keeping a list of “Landon’s Top 10 deaths” in Such Is Our Fate. I commented that that particular chapter (for reasons other than the deaths list) was a Top 10 chapter of the fic, though I also noted I didn’t have an actual list of my Top 10 chapters—there were approximately 120 chapters at that point. I also thought, in a related manner, that I didn’t have a “Top 10” list of Hosie fics…and perhaps that should have been my cue to start thinking about such a thing 😂

As of late June 2024 CE, there are nearly 2600 fics in the AO3 Hosie tag and I’ve been reading since the latter part of 2019…so I’ve probably read ½ to ⅔ of them…

I came up with 7 fics right away, but as I started to make links and such, I realized that 5 of those were incomplete (ongoing, but mostly either rarely updated or, practically speaking, abandoned); I don’t know what it says about me that my “top ten favorite hosie fics of all time” is full of fics that may never be finished.

But in terms of recommendations for reading, I know lots of folks will not want to start reading a work that hasn’t been updated in years and has a high likelihood of never being finished, no matter how amazing it is (or how much someone else liked it). And even for ones that are currently ongoing, it’s possible (though unlikely) that the author could do something crazy to make me hate the fic later on. So I thought I’d spin off all those works that were incomplete into a separate list and come up with 10 favorite finished fics…I could mamage that, right? As I started trying to do that…nope, that’s not done, either; that’s been abandoned 😳 oh, what about that fic? wow, how did I forget that one?! (Like I said, are you trying to kill me?! 😂)

So…to save my life (and to stop spending hours upon hours on this), the end result is about 30 fics all-told, completed and incomplete. (I further subdivided the incomplete fics into those that are updated at least once every few months and those that…aren’t 😢) They’re ordered roughly by time, with the earlier/older fics towards the tops of the lists and the more recent ones (mostly) towards the ends of the lists. Two of the fics on the “Completed” list had promised an epilogue that has never appeared, but you can read the entire story arc, so I think it’s fair to label them as complete.

I fear that the Legacies fandom got to this point where people couldn’t say anything was bad without other people acting like that was ‘harassment’ or inherently toxic. And DON’T get me wrong, there were people who sent actual death threats (or at least I heard there were) and directly said violent, awful or nasty things and that’s not okay. Especially not over a tv show.

But saying you think an actor isn’t very good is actually NOT harassment, it’s an opinion/criticism. 😭 The only way it would be harassment is if you @‘d the actor or kept sending it to their inbox. This is the same way that saying a book is shit in a book review is not personal or an attack on the author unless you @ them or say it in their dms.

There were some weirdos in the fandom and because of them it got to the point where saying anything at all in criticism of Legacies became labelled toxic and that’s like. insane?

And people frequently ignore how television works to bend over backwards and call shit toxic. Here’s an example: it would have made sense for Matt Donovan to die, right? Like narratively, it makes zero sense how much he survived and he offered almost nothing to the narrative at a point but they refused to let him go because (and Julie admits this) sometimes they just like the actors too much. There was a moment where Lucien, who was becoming an advanced vampire/original, literally went OUT OF HIS WAY to knock Matt out instead of kill him 💀 We all agree one of the biggest issues in tvdu is that there’s a lack of stakes and permanent death. This issue is MASSIVE in Legacies and goes beyond just life and death to the point of like… everything is too static. There’s not enough consequences or change in general.

Back to my point. It’s not someone ‘wanting Matt’s actor out of a job and being toxic and evil’ to point out his character had run its course. Landon ran his course several times 😭 The fact people wanted him off the show makes complete fucking sense, especially since he kept hogging ALL of the plot from the main character and was not doing a good/compelling job at it either. Season 1 is one of the least egregious examples and yet he is in ALL and I mean ALL of Hope’s side plots. Here’s a screenshot or a draft I have talking about that just to make my point:

I don’t care what you say at all, it is literally a fact that almost everything with Hope was made to revolve around Landon. And before you open your mouth and say something about d*lena, I hated that ship too and it quite literally ruined Elena’s arc and made everything about Damon 😭 And Elena was my favorite character in the show, without shipping her with any of those men. So, same issue. Although this version of it seems to almost originate from Brett self inserting upon Landon and treating him like how Xander was treated in btvs, but in some ways different or worse because this time Landon is MEANT to get the girl and to constantly get her even when it doesn’t make sense.

I have a ship bias, yeah! But if I just thought the ship had no chemistry and and hosie does (I do think that), I would just only say that and that would be my opinion. But instead I have ALL of these other things to say, because there’s a lot to say about the show and how badly it was executed. There are definitely good things, which is why we’re all here. But I always found it ridiculous when people faked outrage over people saying they wish Landon was killed off. Like… Grow up

Chapter 18 of my canon divergence/AU hosie fic is up! And it's gonna be the last update for 2023! (wowzers what is time if not a construct of our imagination). I've mentioned this in the end notes but figured I'd mention it here as well:

WRAID is going on a 1 (possibly 2) month hiatus because I need a freaking break :D zero spoons in me, running on nothin' but empty fuels babeeeyyy tho that doesn't mean I won't be working on WRAID at all. I'll just be quietly working on it (and many other of my fics--a curse in which past!Rika should be ashamed of) in the background during the story's hiatus as I also use the long break to do a huge mental recharge for the inevitable year of 2024!
