On youtube, theres a thing that constantly annoys me: I enjoy watching video essays, analysis, and other similar videos about the gaming industry and games trends, but a LOT of the time, creators I otherwise respect, enjoy their things, and even frequently agree with, will decide to talk about an issue in the games industry, and use Horizon Zero Dawn & Forbidden West as an example, or even the thumbnail, DESPITE having clearly never played either game or done any research, and the things they are talking about don't even slightly apply to those games or are subverted within.

Why it happens with the horizon series so much, I don't know, but Ive seen MULTIPLE videos from creators I liked before those videos that had Horizon as a big part of the thumbnail, despite the topic not applying to Horizon. When I watch the videos they clearly have No clue what they are talking about with Horizon.

Why have those games become games media scapegoats??? Why are they the default "im talking about something wrong with open world games or action rpgs or aaa games, lets use those, im sure what im saying applies"

Horizon Zero Dawn isn’t that old of a game or in dire need of a remaster like those still trapped on PS3 hardware, but what Nixxes has managed to do with Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered is simply breathtaking. The studio has successfully taken a game that delivered a nearly perfect presentation for the time and managed to make it look even better.

What games is everyone excited for in the new year or beyond ?

I’m personally so hyped for Horizon Forbidden West and a brand new Monster Hunter reveal !!!!!! I still need to get Phantom Liberty for Cyberpunk and play that as well. I haven’t even checked out the new update for that. I’ll eventually finish my BG3 run but I’m just stuck lmao.

Monster Hunter Rise I’m somewhere in the endgame of Sunbreak but the player base is so small lol. World I’m about done with but will happily play that over Rise.

Anyways I’m nerding out to probably no one who cares but yeaaaah

oh i also talked a lot about fire emblem today. specifically whether i was planning to buy Engage or not. verdict is: Probably, considering reviews say the tactics gameplay is really rich & that's like 80% of why i enjoy playing fire emblem. so yes i am not a fan of the character designs. but i will probably buy it. at some point.

i went to gamestop after work to see if i could find it but didnt see it and INSTEAD i saw 2 games for relatively cheap. so i got those instead.

First Tallneck done and woah. It's the one where you rotate the satellite disk, Cinnabar Sands... It was so fun! It felt a lot more involved than the first game ( maybe it was the exact same, idk, it just felt more fun and quest-y), and I loved the little bit of puzzle solving in there.

Six hours clocked so far and I'm getting to really appreciate this game.

Traveller’s Tales has done such a good job bringing various LEGO games to life that it did feel impossible any other developer could take up the mantle. Guerrilla Games and Studio Gobo have mostly proven that assumption wrong with LEGO Horizon Adventures. Despite its overall dark backstory, the two developers have managed to translate Horizon Zero Dawn’s story, characters and gameplay into a LEGO format that’s entertaining in the right dosage, breaking from the traditional LEGO format for both better and worse.
