okay I hope you can help me: I'm somewhat new to chinese drama as in I still don't understand all the way people call themselves or the nickname thing like Bing'er, Xiabo etc I was hoping you could help me and explain it to me or direct me to a site that explain in details because I'm down the mysterious lotus casebook hole and I have ideas for fic but i don't know what to use. Especially since my main idea is a girl!duobing fic. Would they call her A-bao ? please help if you can! thank you!
Hiya! Okay, I may make some mistakes on this so I’m tagging my cdrama moots to jump in for any input @sarah-yyy @romchat @rose-tinted-vision @weilongfu @dangermousie @killerandhealerqueen
To answer;
1. Yes, A’Bao (or Ah Bao or A-Bao, depending on your preferences, would be something they would call her
2. Think of Xiao- or A-, in front of someone’s name as kind of an endearment or a way to denote station/closeness.
3. Let’s use for example, Li LianHua; Li-gongzi (Young Master Li; how you respectfully call a son of a family; you can add an er-, san- to denote if the person is the second or third son and so on so forth), Li-shifu (Master Li; shifu is what you call your teacher)
4. Now, if we say for example Xiao Bao or A’Bao, Bao’er, that is what you would call someone you’re close to.
5. Xiao- is what I would call my younger cousins or siblings or a younger friend or someone younger than me, A- is what I would call a same age friend, -er is something I find either between parents and their kids or between couples. Though this could differ from situation to situation.
6. Further example, @dangermousie (fam, indulge me hehe) based on our interactions and mutuals status, I could call them Mousie-er or A’Mouse. In real life, I only use the A—. It’s too weird for me to use the other two, so personally, which one you use is very subjective in my opinion.
It’s rather simple and I know this wasn’t as in depth as it could be. But I hope it answered some basic questions at least.

Hi there!!! I was really curious - as someone who's really terrified of putting themselves out onto social media as a kink account (due to fear of being "found out" or harassed or people finding you, etc), what advice would you have for someone like me? I desperately yearn to start really contributing to furry NSFW spaces and drawing dorky kinks and making friends and such, but I can't get over the paralysis of feeling like something awful will happen if I ever allow myself to do that.
Well, truth is, the biggest thing I can tell you is that that fear, that hump, insurmountable as it seems, is one you gotta cross. I can't pretend I put a lot of thought into being this open- truth is, I got tired of hiding what brought me joy, and the unhealthy ways it caused me to act out, and I just said "damn the torpedoes" and DID it- only to discover more and more as time went on that not only were my fears a lot smaller than I had made them, not only were most of my existing friends really cool, that the friends I made when I was authentic with myself, even the parts that I worried were "embarrassing," were tighter and stronger because there was nothing I felt like I was hiding from them. I stopped having to wear a mask, and so all the fatigue that came with it melted away, y'know?
Mostly, what I've learned since is that it's important to remember that the stuff you do- whether it's kink art, writing, whatever, is not the whole of who you are, but just a part of it. You can and should explore it, as it's a part of you like anything else, but also remember that it doesn't solely define you. You don't have to bring those fascinations into friend groups that aren't about them, you don't have to justify them to people not involved- as long as you're respectful, courteous, and respect people's personhood and choice to be or not be involved, anything left lies outside of your own behavior- and you can't control that stuff anyways.
There might be people who decide it's a dealbreaker- there might be people who treat it badly. I've had very very few, and they weren't great friends to begin with, but if you come at things with a respect for boundaries, both other peoples' and your own, then putting your stuff out there is something nobody has the right to take issue with. You almost have to beat it into your head that no, it's not callous to have respect for your rights and dignity, and it's not cruel to cut people out of your life if they don't have that same respect.
You have to start to love yourself, all of you- not just the parts other people want to see.

Hi Ashlee!!! I hope you're doing well. I'm appealing to your brilliant mind for help with character analysis :) I want to write a japril fic but realize I'm struggling in part because imo Jackson has such an undefined and often inconsistently written personality? Like for seasons he's presented as too detached and remote and retreats whenever things get tough, but then a few seasons ago the writers tell us his problem is that he's too dependent on other people and can't be alone, which is...the exact opposite?! And he's often portrayed as laidback to the point of being not caring and trying hard enough but then suddenly like a week or two later he's all super intense and competitive? And they show him as almost TOO logical and rational to the point of detachment but then he'll be depicted like an episode later as someone who always follows his heart and his instincts?! I'm getting whiplash trying to get a handle on his core traits lol. It's funny with Grey's because their female characters are generally SO vividly, clearly defined and layered yet consistent, while the male characters tend to be either one dimensional or wildly inconsistent. Anyway, any help you can give me is much appreciated!
Hello there, nonnie! I agree with you about how the Grey's writers have written Jackson inconsistently over the course of the show.
I always resonated with his character most when he was depicted as logical/rational and somewhat emotionally detached. That made sense to me, given his background as an Avery and growing up with Catherine as his mother. I'd argue she's not the warmest person. She's focused, intense, and ambitious. A strong personality. A force to be reckoned with. She loves her son, of course, I am not doubting that, but I think it's obvious she raised him to be the sort of person to do what's right, to do what's expected of him, and I feel like that's translated into him having had to brush emotion aside. He was taught that other things were more important. So, in that regard, he would have been brought up to be intense and competitive, right? That's what was expected of him. I feel like Catherine wouldn't have had much patience for emotional-based decision making either, so Jackson would've learned to suppress a lot to survive and be successful. (Which, I'd argue, is something we see over the course of the series already.)
He's always struck me as a more introverted, introspective person, too. Someone who weighs his thoughts and actions. He may be impulsive at times, quick to act in certain scenarios, but only if, logically, he reasons that it's the best course for him in that moment. He's not expressive, either. I feel like he has a difficult time not only identifying his emotions but being able to put them into words until he reaches an epiphany. He intellectualizes long before he allows himself to feel. Ironically, this is why April is such a wonderful complement to him romantically because she ushers him into a state of feeling, into a state of sitting with his emotions. She helps him to confront parts of himself that are uncomfortable, foreign, or scary. She pushes him out of his comfort zone.

Any tips to share for drawing roun characters, O wise and powerful fops?
I'm unfortunately a little too tired to give anything concise, but you can find my post HERE with some good pointers and basics on drawing fat bodies!
As for some other basic tips- fat bodies are incredibly diverse when it comes to fat distribution, shape, size, all that sorta stuff. No fat body is gonna look exactly the same, y'know? Use reference, and look at how your favorite artists draw fat. It's a very helpful process! Oh, and pay special attention to the arms and the face! A lot of folks draw fat bodies, but always seem to neglect double chins and bicep fat! It's not all just curvy figures with tums, y'know?

Hello! Thank you for free tarot friday.
Initials MNR, ze/zir/zirs.
I am resistant to [a rule of my magical practice], so my question is where is a good starting place to work with the rule?
Hello! Ohh, this is a super interesting question! Consider me intrigued. Let's pull a card about it.
For you, I drew Page of Cups.
I'd like to believe that the rule you're resisting is in place for a good reason. Understanding why it exists is a good place to start, but logic isn't always the strongest motivator, is it? If it feels unfair, it feels unfair. If the rule cannot change, and I presume it can't since you're looking to work with it rather than adjust it, consider adjusting your perception of the rule itself. Instead of looking at the ways this rule limits you, consider how it might empower or challenge you. For example, if you're forbidden to give explicit details about certain things due to a rule of secrecy, but you desperately want to tell someone about what you're doing, consider the challenge of making that work. And if all else fails, choosing optimism and patience in the face of frustration is always an option.
For a free one-card draw, read the rules and send an ask. Want a guaranteed reading? More cards? In-depth analysis? Commission me here. Enjoy your free pull or my other work? Tip me here.

Elesa’s feeling homesick. Emmet, bless his heart, tries to help by infodumping while Ingo frantically runs off to find water (crying is a very dehydrating experience).

Prepare for the unexpected. (DPxDC)
Everyone knew about the reign of Pariah Dark. Even those who did not dabble in those realms have heard the tale of the tyrant. A power-hungry man who ruled over the dead with an iron fist.
Following the rise of Pariah Dark, his realm had been effectively cut off from communication. Many mystics and magic users knew better than to open the door of nightmares that could arise if Pariah Dark's reach went further than his own realm.
Except, the universe had plans to bring the realm of the dead back into the cards.
A new opponent, one that had all of Earth's heroes scrambling for options. A being with powers of a god over weather, destruction was on the horizon. A world ending threat.
It's the only reason the Justice League was doing this. In a deep bunker, far from close civilization as a precaution, the heroes looked on with grim expressions.
The world was already being threatened. It would be destroyed regardless of what the league did. So it only made sense to make the last ditch effort. To summon someone strong enough to defeat the threat.
No one wanted to do it. No one wanted to be the one to pull the realm of the dead back to the living. The consequences were untold if this succeeded. If Pariah Dark was freed and defeated the threat, whose to say he won't want control?
That was a problem for later. For the aftermath. For now, the league could only watch on with bated breath as Constantine completely the summon ritual.
They watched on as the shadows in the room seemed to darken and grow. As the sigil sputtered to life with a glow that was growing increasingly brighter. A sudden gust of wind rushed through the room, the temperature began to drop with eaching ticking second.
And then it was all gone.
The room stood perfectly still. Just as it had been moments before. Nothing changed. No giant king standing before them, no sign that the ritual worked.
The room stood deadly still for another beat before the murmurs started. The team trying to make sense of the situation, figure out what went wrong.
Constantine swore up and down that this was the correct ritual, taking offense that they would even think the problem was on his end. It only made it better when it finally happened.
A loud sound ripped through the room, pulling everyone's attention back to the summoning circle. Just in time to see a tear appear in the space above the circle.
A thin tear that ran the length of eight feet. The fabric of the dimension seems to curl at the edges, pulling back to reveal a deep glowing swirl of greens. A dark gloved hand reached through, fingers curling around the edge of the tear, stretching it even further.
A portal. The ritual had worked, but there had been a delay. A delay that had every hero nerves on edge. Each team member tensed, weapons at the ready as they watched the being stretch the portal to the right size.
Then, a foot stepped out with a heavy thud. A dark boot that looked otherworldly despite its similarity to mortal clothing. A deep black that seemed never-ending. A second foot quickly followed before a full body emerged from the portal.
Not many people in the room have ever seen Pariah Dark, let alone know what to expect. Based on what Constantine and Zatara had said, this wasn't Pariah Dark.
A man had stepped out of the portal, standing at almost seven feet tall, and built like a brick house. One glance at the glowing white hair, deadly red eyes, and shard teeth was enough to know this being was not to be messed with.
But there was no giant show of armor or royal garbs. There is no large crown at the top of his head or jewelry from the infinite realms laced around his neck.
Instead, the man stood before them in combat boots, worn-in ripped jeans, a graphic t-shirt, and a spiked leather jacket. Despite his almost normal clothing choice, the man's jacket seemed to be a never-ending depth of the dark night sky. If one was to look closely enough, the cosmos could almost be made out in the sea of darkness.
None of that would have prepared them for when the man spoke. His tone sounded more bored than anything as he took a step forward.
"Oh, so now you need the help of the dead." The man had spoken, running a hand through his hair. When Batman took a step forward to speak, the man raised a hand. Immediately commanding silence in the single gesture. "I'm on babysitting duty and have yet to have a cup of coffee. I'll be right back."
Just like that, both the man and portal vanished into thin air. Leaving behind a group of stunned heroes. Not only was the man not Pariah Dark, but he was also supposedly babysitting.
"Did that just-"
The Flash had been the first voice to speak up, his eyes trained on where the man had once stood. Except he had barely made it through the first few words before the man was suddenly back.
The man that now had a child hanging off his shoulders and another teen being held up by his scruff. Unlike the man, these kids looked human.
Too human for Bruce's liking. The dark black hair and bright blue eyes had every heroes eyes flickering to Batman for just the briefest moment.
"This isn't fair! I'm not even the king. Why do I have to be here!" The teenager had been complaining the moment the man had reappeared. Arms crossed tight over his chest and seemingly used to being held dangling. "Besides, who brings kids to a show down! Wait til I tell mom about this."
"Aw, come on, Danny. This is gonna be fun!!" The younger girl seemed in much better spirits than the teen, Danny. She had climbed up the large man, sitting on his shoulders and resting her arms on the mess of glowing hair. "It's like take your kids to work day! Ooo, Dan! Can we fight too!?"
Unlike the two kids, the man looked purely exhausted and annoyed. The man, Dan, dropped Danny like a sack of potatoes as he took a long drink from the travel cup in his hand.
It didn't take a genius to recognize the look of an exhausted parent in Dan's expression. A look many of the league members were well acquainted to. A look that even had Batman grimacing with sympathy.
"Can it, little shits. You two were grounded, remember." Dan had growled at the kids before shifting his focus back on the team of heroes before them. His glowing eyes set in a deadly glare. "Pariah Dark isn't coming, and he never will. He's been dethroned and banished. We're the best you've got."
A summoning that started with a group of on edge and scared heroes looking for the ghost king, ended in a way no one expected.
No one was even sure if it made any sense. They weren't sure if they should feel hopeful or in despair.
Because truly, what was a ghostly man with two seemingly human children against a godlike foe with the control over the weather?
The unspoken question of power and ability seemed to vanish following Dan downing the metal travel cup of coffee, and crushing it in his fist.
He tossed it to the side, straighting up his posture as he looked over the heroes. Dan might not be a hero, but he's been playing family for too long.
An almost feral, bloodhungry grin spread across the man's face, sharp fangs on full display. The look made the man suddenly look even less human. He looked closer to a demon from the pits of hell rather than the exhausted parent he looked just a few seconds ago.
"Point me in the direction of this bastard. It's been too long since I let loose and had some fun."
