This is an offering to appease whatever cursed being has cursed me with writersblock.

“Right, all we need to do now is wait for her to finish singing, then we can nab her!” the leader of the group exclaimed, already rubbing his hands together and imagining all the money he’ll get from ransoming the famous Robin.

Unfortunately for him, bodyguards were a thing.

“Sorry, but I can’t let you do that. Hope you understand. Bloodhound family policy, professional pride, all that jazz.” You muttered as you walked out from behind the corner and faced the group, shocking them.

“I thought you said nobody was supposed to be back here," the leader hissed at the jittery member of the group, causing him to jump and cower in fear.

“Who care’s, let's just deal with 'em and be done with it.” the impatient one exclaimed.

All the while, you stayed still and silent.

At least, until you reached into your coat.

“They’ve got a gun!” the jitteriest of the group of would be kidnappers exclaimed in a voice a few octaves short of a scream.

However, when you removed your hand from your coat, rather than a gun, a knife, or any other conventional weapon, you pulled out-

“Brass knuckles?” the one who seemed to be the leader asked in confusion.

“Technically these are steel, but yes. Guns are a bit loud for the current venue and blades aren’t my style.” you answered as you slipped the weapons over your hands, and then shook them out before closing your fists and rolling your shoulders.

“Now then, do you mind getting lost? Tonight is busy enough without all the paperwork you’ll cause me if I have to toss you around.” you asked as you looked the intruders in the eye.

In response, the most impatient of the group rushed forward with a shout and leapt into the air, trying to bring you down with a flying kick.

You dodged under the first attack with ease.

After that, the attacker was conscious just long enough to realize just how massive his screw up was.

Coincidentally, during that time the last thing he was able to remember until he woke up in a hospital with several dozen broken bones and drinking his food through a straw was your fist heading directly for his face and the sound of his teeth being punched in.

Luckily for him, he wasn’t conscious for the rest of it.

After you landed the first strike to his face, you grabbed him by the shoulder and followed up with a left hook to his liver and another to his ribs, and one more right to his jaw, the sound of bones breaking and snapping with every hit before you tossed him to the side and away from the curtain, sending him flying into the wall.

“sigh It seems I’ll be dealing with all of you myself, and here I was hoping to have a quiet night with Robin.” you muttered as you turned to face the rest of the group who was now quite apprehensive about facing off with a monster like you.

The group looked at eachother, waiting for one of them to go on the offensive.

Unfortunately, you were not so kind or patient as to allow them to decide who it would be.

“Now then, put 'em up.” you told the group as you raised your fists, a slight grin on your face.

Even amongst your peers in the Bloodhound Family, you were always particularly nasty when it came to fights.

And it had been quite a while since you were able to get in a fight since you were on Robin’s protective detail.

But, it was a small price to pay to be able to be with her.

“A wonderful performance as always Miss Robin.” you told the famous singer as you opened the door to her ride away from the venue for her, expertly blocking the paparazzi and fans as best you could as she entered before following her into the limo and sat down across from her, closing the door in the process.

Soon, the vehicle began to move and as soon as the car was away from the crowds, Robin sank into her seat with a sigh, letting her smile fade away and her entire body deflate.

“Rough night Robin?” you whispered to her, quickly moving from where you were sitting across from her to right next to her, grabbing a bottle of water in the process.

“Extremely.” Robin muttered as she gratefully took the bottle of water from your hands and leaned into you, closing her eyes and letting the ice cold water soothe her throat and her headache.

Did those lights have to be so unbearably bright?

“I hope you feel better soon dear.” you muttered as you moved to run your hand through her hair but stopping short when you noticed the still wet blood on your undershirt’s sleeves which was probably on your collar and vest as well, not to mention your bruised fingers.

You were about to place your hand back at your side when Robin gently wrapped her hand around your wrist.

“You're bleeding!” she quietly exclaimed, a concerned look on her face.

Quickly, to calm her concern, you supplied her with the first thing that came to mind.

“Don’t worry, it's not my blood.”

This, surprisingly to you, a member of the bloodhound family, did very little to calm her.

Then again, maybe that disconnect in your personalities was why the two of you worked…

Rosie!!!! Ep 7 had me pointing at the screen like that Leo DiCaprio gif when Jinx lit the match to blow up the bar and during the sweet Timebomb moment on the roof!!! I was like JUST LIKE ROSIE SAID AAAAHHHHHHH even timebomb only being possible in an AU is in line with that i think. AND you are giving us the revolution plot the show didn't!!

the funny thing about the parallel is that Jinx is doing this tearful goodbye to a place that's been a home to her for so long and was owned by two successive fathers whose deaths she had a hand in and feels responsible for. and revolution!Powder is like "Ekko pissed me off" lmao. not to trivialize her feelings, because it's certainly more than that, but she didn't come there to destroy it initially. it's this explosion of all this pain and anger that then is released when she and Ekko fight in the alley. it's so much less deliberate than Jinx in the show. it was interesting for me to watch too lol I was like heyyyyyy I wrote something vaguely like that

I do wish the show hadn't given us the feeling that timebomb was only possible in an AU, just because it also explicitly shows us that Jinx heals when she has people to care for. I think Isha's death is to suggest that she'll never be anyone's true protector, but it really shouldn't have to be that way. because Jinx keeps saving people all throughout the season. Ekko even says her inventions change the world. and there's so much work to do in rebuilding Zaun and making it its own thing that Jinx could be a big part of. work that Ekko himself is going to be doing. this is all to say that we should've gotten Firelight Jinx lol. we kinda did with the final teamup, but we didn't get to see it, and that's a shame. I think that would have been a very natural ending for her, to hide away and then live amongst the people who have become her people. but noooooo we can't have nice things lol

and that kinda segues into the business of the revolution. I did figure that the two sides of the city would have to team up to fight off Ambessa, though I couldn't have seen her alliance with Viktor coming (though it makes sense given Singed's lore, in a convoluted way). really not a fan of how at the end of the show most of the problems that were present at the beginning as far as class and inequality go are left intact. the only real difference is that Zaun has some leverage, but not much. but this does align with my critiques of the first season having some pretty neoliberal underpinnings. the second season just doubles down on that super hard in a frustrating way

for me, a big part of why I wanted to do the fic is because the show gave me a world in which it was really easy to talk about a lot of issues I'm very serious about, and because I could see Jinx/Powder turning into a leader, even if not in a conventional sense, through traits that were evident even before season 2's direction was revealed to us. it's kinda crazy how it's so easy to forget that Ambessa only had such an easy in because of the oppression Piltover had been perpetuating against its poorer half the whole time. it's a good example of how oppression is dangerous for the oppressor as well (very Pedagogy of the Oppressed-core of me but it's me lol)

Wales Comic Con (Part One)

Honestly, so much has happened, I don't know if I'll ever be able to capture it in its entirety. I know, a 50-minute panel and just a ton of photos, shouldn't be that hard to cover, right? You'd be surprised.

It's taking second and third looks at the photos. Finding tweets, posts, etc, by fans about the event. Listening to the panel alone will take days. Especially as there's making sure we understand what was said, who said it, and so on.

Then there were the surprising post-panel photos that we didn't see until later. Such as the Ackles stopping by the Sheppard's place in England before the Ackles split up and heading to their respective destinations.

Jensen went alone to Austin to likely rest up and prepare for an intense time at the convention. Danneel went to do whatever the hell she does, while I'm sure the kids went with the nanny back to Connecticut.

First impressions?

Jensen looked stressed. Tired. The tension was painfully obvious, though he tried at times with some fans, judging from the photos I've managed to see and find. There was one known wildly inappropriate moment with a fan for a photo shoot and I could not believe that they tried to ask Jensen to do this.

He is not your fucking monkey to pose and dance and sing as you like, goddammit.

And for everyone who claimed to be a fan, I saw way too many completely missing all the signs of exhaustion, stress, and strain. I mean...

His jaw is so tense it's completely changed the shape of his face. That smile isn't genuine, and more like a clenched jaw situation.

But sure. He's doing great. (Did you hear the sarcasm in that?)

Danneel also just does not look great. Layers and layers of makeup, to the point where you can't even see her skin texture (which is normal, by the way!). Also, why was she wearing a turtleneck and long coat and everything when it was warm as hell, according to followers who lived in the UK region? Yes, yes, Jensen wore long sleeves on Saturday, but it looked thin and lighter compared to what Danneel wore.

Also: Danneel... honey? The 80s called, they want their shoulder pads back.

Not even the group photo with the panel changed much. (Though, hilariously, a number of people thought Samantha Smith was younger than Danneel and that Danneel was in her 50s.)

Nor did the trip at the Sheppard's. Jensen still had that tension. Even Sarah had this... odd placement of her hand on Danneel's shoulder, as if twitching in discomfort.

Only once Jensen was at the airport and the two fan photos surfaced, did I see a bit of relaxation. It's still too obvious in between his brows, though. I hope some real rest, peace, and his true friend, Jared, will he be able to relax.

Why do you dislike Musical!PoTO?

I've heard that there are better versions than the ones I've seen (a couple of clips of boots on youtube, the 25th royal albert hall performance and the 2004 movie) so take my ranting with a grain of salt. I've said it before and if you've followed me you probably know by now that I don't care much for Andrew Lloyd Webber, I feel like he's very hit or miss and for every Jesus Christ Superstar he writes there's a Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (pure shit, irredeemable, possibly the worst musical I've ever had to sit through) Something about Webber's music rubs me the wrong way, it seems like it's trying to be tongue-in-cheek but it just comes off as smug. Characters tend to feel extremely one-note. I HATE madam Giry in the musical. They kind of gave her the Daroga's role and it DOES NOT WORK. She says something early on in the film about how she thinks of Christine as a daughter but she doesn't do a fucking thing to protect her from Erik for the bulk of the musical? Like, you know what's going on, you know who her teacher is but your complicit in helping him deceive her? Why are you protecting him? It's not that you don't think he's dangerous, you clearly know he's capable of murder. I also hate how they handle Carlotta, she's not really a major character in the book and her singing is lacking not because she's bad but because she doesn't have any passion for her performances and she's wonderfully ruthless and calculating about ousting her competition. The depiction of a spoiled past her prime, primadonna who also can't sing and is too old for the roles she cast in is just another example of ALW being needlessly mean spirited. In the book she was actively manipulative about trying to kill Christine's career. There was something really villainous about the way she would use her popularity and her friends in high places to bribe the managers with flattery and gifts. She made newspapers stop giving Christine publicity to prevent her from getting her name out, then she filled the opera house with her own fans and supporters to outnumber anyone who was there for Christine. This woman has been in the game for a long time and she knows how to play it, probably because she's worked for years to build up her career and isn't ready to hand it over to some nobody from nowhere who happened to pop up on the one night Carlotta couldn't perform. You could write Carlotta with so much nuance and give her layers, make her an INTERESTING antagonist and ALW just doesn't. He goes for the low hanging fruit. The laziest trope he could have picked. Spoiled, vain and no actual talent. Given how much creative control over the movie he had I'm going to count that as his official adaptation of the musical and it takes everything I already don't like about the musical and makes it WORSE. Also I said before ALW writes music like someone who enjoys rock but doesn't actually understand it? "We needed somebody who has a bit of rock and roll sensibility in him. He's got to be a bit rough, a bit dangerous; not a conventional singer. Christine is attracted to the Phantom because he's the right side of danger." -Andrew Lloyd Webber on the character of Erik for the 2004 film. Honestly, no? No he doesn't, he has no rock and roll sensibility. Not in your musical, not in the book, not in the movie. What are you talking about Andy? That ridiculous guitar riff during the song The Phantom of the Opera? Because that meshed about as well with your hokey showtune style as eating cole slaw with your Chinese takeout. You CAN do it but you really shouldn't. "The film looks and sounds fabulous and I think it's an extraordinarily fine document of the stage show. While it doesn't deviate much from the stage material, the film has given it an even deeper emotional centre. It's not based on the theatre visually or direction-wise, but it's still got exactly the same essence. And that's all I could have ever hoped for." – Andrew Lloyd Webber

Andy you're full of crap. Go home. That said there are moments and songs I really like. Wishing you Were Somehow Here Again is heartbreaking and I like to think that she's talking about Erik and the broken pedestal of their relationship as much as she is her father. I don't know if that was intentional but I like the angle of Christine feeling heartbroken at the loss of a friend and father. But well, ALW ships Erik and Christine so of course that angle is never really considered. We get one moment where Christine is upset and says she gave Erik her mind blindly and one where she admits to being frightened of him before the performance of Don Juan, but I feel like as much as Christine is verbally resistant to him and clearly terrified of him the musical doesn't really validate her and takes every opportunity to build up the sexual tension between her and the phantom. The supporting characters don't really help either, Madam Giry is complicit in Erik's manipulations, Raoul seems largely dismissive and more focused on hunting down Erik when he finally believes her than protecting Christine (AllI Ask of You is a nice song but Raoul's actions and attitude before and after make it feel a bit hollow). In some weird ways I get why people watch the musical and think Erik is the better choice despite...the stalking, kidnapping and murder. No one is really committed to protecting this girl, not even the people who claim to love her. I can easily see how she'd still feel a need to cling to her angel of music even after the mask comes off given how completely ALONE she seems while surrounded by people who allegedly care about her. I also don't like how Raoul is depicted. Maybe it's the actors but I feel like he and Christine don't have chemistry and half the time he seems annoyed with her. Especially Hadley Frasier feels like he's ten minutes from being completely done, he has no patience. I don't buy that this is a man who ran into the sea to fetch her scarf or would run into a dangerous underground lair to rescue her but I do buy that he's going to become a drunken asshole in 10 years so I guess what they did with him in LND is predictable even if it is completely stupid. If you made it to the bottom of this rant congratulations, I hope that explains why I am not among the musical's phans and why I don't like how much it eclipses the book or other versions. I do think it's good but overrated and the flaws are more than I can over look. And yet I still seek it out from time to time, I still like the parts of it that I like and that I think do work. It's like a toxic ex I can't fully break up with, which I suppose is kind of fitting given the subject matter.

Light up the Fire Event Story Summary

TL;DR: Some time after Vivid BAD SQUAD's highly successful third event, Taiga calls them and their allies to a meeting in the streets. He tells them that they'll never surpass RAD WEEKED, before revealing the truth of Nagi's death. He then immediately challenges them all to a street battle, effortlessly destroying all of them. EVER, Kotaro, and Arata all decide to give up on surpassing the legend. An is still in shock.

Ken brings them all back to WEEKEND GARAGE and explains RADder's past, as well as the origin of RAD WEEKEND.

RADder had been performing together ever since they were kids. Though they'd found success with a record label, conventional fame wasn't for them, so they quit and formed their own label. Touring was difficult, so after An's birth, they decided to focus on recording so Ken could help her grow up.

When An was around ten years old, Nagi was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and given five more months to live. After watching An's passion for singing, she decided to end her life by putting on one final show- RAD WEEKEND. Nagi's hope is that the event will light the fire of the next generation to carry her dream forward.

A few weeks before the event, Nagi called the whole town to a meeting. There, she revealed her diagnosis and asks a few favors: that they all come to the event, that they pretend she's still alive even when she's gone, and that they never tell An the truth.

RAD WEEKEND was a huge success. Nagi was thankful for everything singing had given her. Taiga decided to continue singing abroad, and Ken decided to start WEEKEND GARAGE and help the street's youth grow.

Shortly before she passed away, Nagi explained why she didn't want An to know about her death. She knows An will be one of the people who will carry her dream forward and surpass that night. If An learns, then she'll associate singing with loss and lose this dream forever. It's sad not being able to say goodbye, but Nagi knows it's for the best. She died a week later.

Though An is still distraught over Nagi's death, she resolves to keep fighting to surpass that legendary night. The rest of Vivid BAD SQUAD is right behind her.

This story deals heavily with themes of hospitalization, sickness, and death. Please read with caution!

Chapter 1: Rin and Len serve Vivid BAD SQUAD food while MEIKO's out. They show the two the recording of their most recent event as a reward. Akito praises Kohane's performance, and while An doubts her ability still, she's determined to reach her goal. Toya notes that the whole town seems to be cheering them on now.

Taiga's leaving for a US tour soon, so he had asked Vivid BAD SQUAD and their allies to meet him that evening for something important. Rin realizes that An left her handkerchief and goes to return it.

At the meeting, Taiga praises them all for putting on such a spectacular event. He's impressed by all of their growth. However, he's certain of one thing: they will never surpass RAD WEEKEND.

Chapter 2: Taiga reveals that the reason RAD WEEKEND was so big was because it was also Nagi's farewell. She died shortly after the event. The rest of the town lied about it to protect An, at Nagi's request. Though An denies it at first, she slowly realizes that Nagi truly is gone.

Taiga immediately challenges them all to a street battle.

Chapter 3: A crowd begins to form. Despite Taiga's power, Akito urges everyone to face this battle head-on. Taiga picks EVER to go first. Though EVER does well, Taiga destroys them. He chooses Kotaro next. However, the pressure gets to him and he fails. Arata chooses to go next. Even though he knows the truth now, he's still going to carry Souma's dream. Arata sings even better than he ever has, but Taiga still easily defeats him. Taiga questions if he's just trying to cling on to what he has left of Souma.

Vivid BAD SQUAD is last. An freezes, still processing Nagi's death, while Kohane, Akito, and Toya face Taiga. They're struggling, however. An musters up the determination to sing and goes with everything she has, motivating her friends to do better, too. An can't stop thinking about Nagi and falters. Taiga taunts her about it, so An sings back with everything Nagi gave her. Vivid BAD SQUAD ends up finishing their song successfully.

Taiga recognizes Vivid BAD SQUAD's skill, the "next generation" Nagi always talked about. Still, he shuts them down with a performance of a song from RAD WEEKEND. Seeing their defeat, the town leaves, certain nobody will ever surpass it.

Chapter 4: Taiga arrives at WEEKEND GARAGE shortly after the battle. He tells Ken that An knows the truth now.

Arata leaves the group, defeated. He's given up on this dream after not being able to face Taiga. EVER follows, certain they won't beat him. Kotaro beats himself up over not being able to perform under pressure and runs away.

Ken finds the Vivid BAD SQUAD in the alley. An starts yelling at him for lying about Nagi's death. Ken takes them all back to WEEKEND GARAGE to explain everything.

Ken and Taiga met in middle school. Taiga hated his lack of passion in anything, so he showed him street singing. Ken, moved by the performance, began singing too. Nagi joined the group shortly after. They eventually officially formed a team. After a successful debut at Crawl Green, they signed with a record label and started a career as professional musicians.

Chapter 5: They quit the record label due to creative differences. What mattered most to RADder was the music, not fame. They decide to start their own record label, despite the challenge. Touring was difficult, but rewarding.

After An was born, Nagi instantly fell in love with her. The group decided to pause touring and focus on recording so Ken could spend more time with An.

A decade later, things are going strong. They have a tour planned for the US. However, Nagi's health is failing. She reveals she's been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and only has 5 months to live. There's no cure.

Everyone is distraught over the news. Nagi wants the others to determine the future of RADder. Taiga doesn't want to lose his sister.

Chapter 6: Nagi doesn't know how to process her own death. Still, An wants to practice singing with her, so she puts on an act to not worry her. Watching An grow reminds her of how much the town means to her. An mentions wanting to perform with Nagi one day, and while she knows it will never happen, a part of her wants it to be true.

Nagi tells Taiga and Ken that she wants to end her life by putting on one final event. She wants to inspire all the kids in Vivid Street to continue singing, to carry their dream to the next generation. Ken's on board, but Taiga doesn't want to give their dream away. He wants to sing with Nagi's dream instead.

Ken asks when Nagi's going to tell An about her diagnosis. She reveals that she probably won't.

Ken gathered up all their old rivals and friends, and Nagi convinced the owner of COL to host the event. Despite her poor health, Nagi is putting everything she has into the event.

Though she tries to hide it, Nagi gets nauseous at the end of practice. Her condition is worsening quickly. She's not sure she'll make it long after the event. She wants to watch An grow up and keep singing with her. She doesn't want to die.

Chapter 7: Nagi reveals her diagnosis to the rest of the town, spare the kids. She reveals RAD WEEKEND as her final event, and wants everybody to come. She also asks the town to pretend she isn't dead when she does leave. The owner of Crawl Green decides the story is Nagi went abroad to learn about singing in different cultures and languages, so it's like she never stopped chasing her dream. Finally, Nagi asks that the town never reveals her death to An.

The night of RAD WEEKEND arrives. Nagi thanks them all for doing this. Nagi sings with everything she has left. The energy in the venue is like nothing they'd ever seen.

After the event, Taiga reveals his decision to keep singing, for himself. Ken decides to stay on Vivid Street and foster the next generation. Nagi will cheer them on from the grave.

Nagi is now unable to leave bed. Ken and Taiga go visit her. They end up talking about An and her excitement to follow in Nagi's footsteps. Though Nagi's sad she won't be able to say goodbye to An, she knows it's for the best. She's certain An will be one of the ones to surpass her. Nagi doesn't want An to associate singing with her death, and then never sing again. Only when she's strong enough should she know.

Nagi passed less than a week later.

Chapter 8: An starts crying. She wanted to thank her for everything, and for her to meet Kohane and Akito and Toya, and see her surpass RAD WEEKEND, and perform on stage together.

Ken is confident that they will surpass RAD WEEKEND and carry Nagi's dream beyond where even she could. Knowing the faith Nagi placed in her, An resolves to keep working towards that legendary night. Toya's done running, and Akito's determined despite the challenge. Kohane wishes she could have meet the Nagi An loves so much, and will continue to follow them all.

Meanwhile in SEKAI, Rin keeps crying. She'd ended up hearing everything and told the rest of the Virtual Singers. They resolve to continue helping the kids however they can.

Ken listens to the kids decide their next move. He hopes Nagi sees how incredible they all are, and decides to help them out however he can.

Do you have any thoughts on what Maude Ivory brings to the story or any ideas for what happened to her after Lucy Gray left? I'm hoping to hear a little more about her in SOTR.

Maude Ivory is the red string through whom the Covey songs and memory continue to survive. I'm a proponent of the 'Maude Ivory is Katniss' grandmother' theory.

She must have married into a local family with their surname being Everdeen, as surname conventions in District 12 appear patriarchal. In general, it's likely that the Covey overtly ceased to exist as the women were unlikely to pass on their naming conventions, and the lone fiddler & goat man are unlikely to have had families.

I know opponents to the theory will say that the songs can have survived through anyone listening to them. While that is true, musical talent and abilities are passed down surely by genetics, but also by early childhood development. Listening to music and singing must have been a stable in the family that Maude Ivory built and something that Mr. Everdeen passed down to Katniss as well. The mockingjays don't sing for everyone.

In addition, real life allows for random circumstance, but books are crafted with thought and intention. Maude Ivory being said to remember songs after hearing them the first time is not only a character trait, but a hint.

Regarding SOTR, I'm content with not learning more about the Coveys. Their story is over and a new generation is ready to make their path. At most, Mr. Everdeen's presence might hint at a family relation. Due to the trajectory of all four books, I expect (but dread!) us to return to District 12 in some way. My main assumption, coloured by my own hope for that to stay a minor part, is that Plutarch (as the POV) might be sent to go on the victory tour with Haymitch, thus us spending a day or two in Twelve. Enough to get some names and some information as they record material, but not too much. I mainly assume that the victory tour will be a feature due to the mystery around Haymitch knowing the Justice Building in 11.

Part of the beauty of the original series was the vagueness in which the world existed which allows for craft and creativity to flourish. My obscure, niche interests have already been touched in an unsatisfying manner in TBOSAS, but SOTR is not niche.

I think Suzanne Collins is very aware of the popular demand behind a Haymitch prequel, but equally aware that she risks disappointing a LARGE swath of the fans by setting things into stone after the fandom has had 4+, but especially 10+ years to contemplate on them. No matter the choice, going too deep into 12, Haymitch, or the Everdeens will inevitably alienate some part of the fandom who have spent a decade exploring that scenario.

While this is her world, it's just unwise to risk upsetting the majority of her fans over worldbuilding decisions when her intention for writing these books is the message. If I were Collins, I wouldn't risk squandering my message for people throwing their hands over their heads because Haymitch's girl is now a Cartwright from the Merchant's Districts.

Honestly? And this is not usually a criticism I lob at Mame ( I know is there anything I have lobbed at her?) but the leads seem a bit stiff and uninspired.

Episode 2 - What’s this? Oh is that boredom? 

What are these boys in these office BLs doing behind their desks on those computers? They never actually seem to be working at all. They’re like brochure stock art ads for boys on computers. 

I had to skip most of the humiliating stuff with the food in the car and whatever was going on because… aargh. 

They keep ordering food in this episode of nobody’s eating it. And it looks really good and I’m hungry and this is very upsetting to me. 

Lom is just totally jerking Nuea around. Just tell him what your relationship is with the bride. 

There’s no need to be so fucking coy about it. 

I love the flaming yelling fit from Nuea tho.  

It was also a good kiss. 

But that’s what we expect from a Mame. 

Mame giveth and mame taketh away. 

Somewhat dull episode frankly. Even with the kiss.

Sigh. What have I become?

Episode 3 - WHAT IS THIS? There is nothing about this episode that pleased me even a tiny bit. Except Noel’s hair. But that wasn’t part of the script. 

Buckle up, I got A LOT to say. 

It’s a pleasure to welcome you back to your normal and expected ABL meets Mame interface where... ABL LOSES THEIR TINY MIND.

THIS IS NOT AN EXCUSE for lying. For manipulation. For not understanding how you’re betraying another person’s faith in himself. 

Especially not if you’re in the position of power: social, cultural, employer. 

Why doesn’t Mame EVER understand this? 

You can’t have a character that is sincere and earnest in love and yet entirely lacking in all forms of integrity. 

This is driving me crazy. 

No one is in the show is as crazy as this show is making me.

I started this episode wanting to punch Lom, and I’m ending this episode wanting to punch Lom.

That’s a mame plot for ya. 

No character development at all, on any side of the screen. 

And someone, mostly me, is always left with a mad desire to punch something. 

Frankly, I kinda want to punch the screen.

Episode 4 - I Am Going to Start Drinking

I like consent especially when “no” is activated. But this being Mame she shoe horns it in and then the seme ignores it. 

It’s so awkward. She’s actually incapable of making any non-problematic tropes sexy. It’s like there is only one lane for her shows and that lane is...

My “Punch Lom in the face 2023” campaign continues.

I don’t see how he can ever become a sympathetic character. He just trundles along lying by omission (when speaking up would make everything better). I hate him. 

I’m glad we get to see Nuea suffering, now show Lom what he has done and make him lose the boy. 

No? No.

Instead Lom gets rewarded with sex for being a sleazy lying gutless jerk? Well terds to both you fine gentlemen. 

I mean, very gay of you, Nuea sweetie. 

“Because just SOOOO hot” being the #1 excuse in my personal “I slept with WHAT?” experience. (Heh, to be fair I’m often the WHAT? in that equation. I live to be someone’s bad mistake... just not Lom-level-bad. 

Where was I? 

Oh yeah, Gaga has the sex scene. FYI. Came outta nowhere, that sex scene did. Very disjointed... not that kind of joint. Not that kind either.

It’s not a particularly impressive sex scene, which is disappointing. Because WHY ELSE WOULD WE BE WATCHING?

I mean, if you’re going to have your characters (and by extension us) forfeit all integrity and taste in order to watch your stupid show, the least you could do is give us decent chemistry. 

I’m not saying this is worse than LITA but at least LITA was hot.

It wasn’t anything else. But it was hot.

In conclusion: if Nuea’s baby bro doesnt’t punch Lom in the face next week I will have to start drinking on Weds...

Episode 5 - I Neglected to Drink and that was a Mistake

Ate a lot of crap traveling home today (feel gross) + tumblr new desktop UX has me pissed + Mame & alcohol? I’m not sure I’d survive. So no alcohol. 

Here we go. 

Poor Nuea feels so guilty. 

Please save me from ever feeling that way after sex. *shudder* 

Before you ask, to the best of my knowledge, I have never slept with a married person. I’ve slept with married people... married to each other mind you... but I hope that makes it clear everyone was consensual. (I recommend it, by the way. Being a unicorn is lots of fun.) 

Where was i? 

We were dealing with punching Lom not my misspent youth. 

(looks at calendar. wait, that was last month.) 

PUNCH LOM 2023!

I love her.

It wasn’t a physical punch but a verbal one is almost as good. (And can be more damaging in the long run.)

Mame punches her characters all the time. And no character ever deserved a punching more than Lom. 

I do wish there was a nice boy back home to scoop Nuea up. 

That line of boys wanting him, could we see it, not be told it? 

I do like the random sinshine hyung side couple. 

Omg. COLD MICKY D?! 

That might just be the most objectionable moment in this whole show. 

And that’s a tall order. 

Pun intended.

(straight, HA! pun not intended but still very much THERE) 

Was I pleased we got multiple characters who are just outright gay? Yes. 

But representation has not been one of Mame’s issues. 

I mean Tharn was one of the first openly gay seme leads in a Thai BL, and she also had rep for lube and condoms in that show. That’s not the issue with TharnType. Or Mame. 

Her issues tend to revolve around story structure and audience manipulation. 

Was I pleased that Nuea knew what was going on? Yes, I’m glad he’s not totally clueless. 

I still want Lom to be punched in the face and I’m still mad at this show. 

Episode 6 - Too hot to drink, still a Mistake

I finally figured out my real problem with Lom. It’s not that he was closeted and manipulative without good reason (although he is). It’s not that he lied and strung Nuea along for a lot longer than was necessary (because he did). It is that he basically does everything for himself and his own ends. Even when he’s confessing his love it comes off as flat because it isn’t about Nuea and what Nuea wants or needs, it’s about Lom wants.

Hanging a lampshade on it doesn’t make it right. 

It was good bridge kiss. And car kiss. And sex kisses. 

There is something corrupted grunge romantic asking the person you love most in the world to hide that love and climb back into the closet with you for the sake of your nasty arse family (is that a queer taboo, hum). I’m not saying lavender marriages are necessarily wrong, I’m just saying it’s an interesting plot twist in a BL. 

I think we HAVE to hold this up and examine it in stark contrast to the final ep of Bad Buddy. It’s interesting how the closet retreat didn’t bother me at all in BB, and I thought it was quite a clever and elegant ending twist. Whereas here it’s just annoying. It’s not making me as angry as it probably should. But it is annoying as a narrative conceit and denouement.

Can I ask a question.

 It’s not a serious question, of course. 

What is up with all of the shows this year having dates on lakes featuring that thing where you ride a funny little floaty-boat while being dragged behind a fast boat. I’m sure it has a name, but I could not care less. New sponsor? 

The sex scene was fine. But I have to say, I wish they had leaned into the fact that Lom is a virgin and Nuea has more experience. It would’ve been a really interesting dynamic to see honestly represented on screen.

In conclusion, Nuea is a saint and next week everything comes to a head that didn’t already get head this episode.

Episode 7 - Finally I’m drinking! 

I am having a tiki beverage this evening to round out this show. Coconut rum and mango popping Boba are involved. Don’t judge. I have the alcohol palate of a 7 year old. 

I’m ready! Let’s shave this beard!

And, well, that was a pink saturated drama of the mothers in law. Enjoyable lakorn style scenery chewing. The ladies seemed to be enjoying themselves.

Lom pretending to be sad and pitiful. Also funny. 

Using his evil against his mom is acceptable. Suddenly his manipulative lying ways are working in the right direction. 

Honestly? 

This was a fine ending, I’m not mad at it. 

They managed to keep Lom in character until the end, he remained deceitful.  I would never trust him, but clearly Nuea is willing to ride that dragon. 

I guess 7/10? 

If you can tolerate Mame and liars (kinda the same thing) you’ll be fine with this show. 

But, frankly? Lom as a character would sit better amongst the drama bananas of Only Friends.

In summation: 

A lackluster Mame offering with less of her usual stellar chemistry, but all of her usual manipulation. An innocent wedding planner falls haplessly and hopelessly in love with a groom who relentlessly pursues him, even though he’s about to marry someone else.

The concert on the first day was changed literally at the last minute to a talk show with a phenomenal solo performance by Benyamin Nuss - saved the day!

One week after the convention and I am still recovering... I had a full anime/VGM vocal repertoire ready just for Polymanga, but due to "extinction de voix", I could only play the violin on the first day. One was my original piece "Animus", and I decided to play "Isabella's Theme" from "The Promised Neverland" too. Everything was improvised on stage - didn't even know what Benyamin was going to play but conveniently all his pieces were linked to very personal experiences I had with Japan. But people were so kind to say things like they discovered different sides to me. I somehow managed to talk, a lot more than what was originally planned!

It was difficult to accept that my voice completely disappeared (hasn't really happened since I was 13 in Australia?) especially after an extremely smooth rehearsal. But gosh the team who also do the Montreux Jazz Festival were la crème de la crème ! Their professionalism is truly unrivaled. Not to mention the completely improvised shows... so intuitive. No one knew what was going to happen over the next 2 days.

À la dédicace le premier jour, so many Xenoblade fans came. Those who attended the second day will know I tried to sing just one excerpt of the ending theme "Beyond the Sky". The second day was originally meant to be a talk show, but I was still doing everything I could to sing and somehow managed to squeeze a few tunes out, including "Eight Melodies" from “Earthbound” (ou ‘Mother’ en japonais) and "Isabella's Lullaby" TPN. Again on the second day, I had no idea if I could sing and when I would do so, so a huge bravo to the team who were on point!

My throat aside, I was surprised at how comfortable I was talking to you on stage and in person. Maybe it was a language thing. Maybe the Swiss/Polymanga audience were just so nice. Maybe the questions you all asked were interesting and different! I was able to be myself. Such a positive, friendly environment. I felt the same vibe from many of you too. I guess we all owe that in part to the anime, game, culture world.

I hope that there will be another opportunity to perform for you again.

I felt so at home that maybe one day in the future I'd like to call Switzerland a second home!

-Waiting for Chocolate: In episode two, chug is downstairs waiting for the vending machine guy to come and refill it with delicious snacks. He usually comes every other Saturday and Chug is always there to greet him. However, this time, the vendor does not show up. I originally had a side story planned about the vending machine guy going missing and Chug being very concerned about that. Even though that story didn't make it into the game, the detail is still there. The vending machine guy is gone and his machine remains empty for the rest of the game.

-The Open Road: Ash's dad, Adam Campbell, was a mechanic and always had some project going on in the garage. One of his prized possessions was eventually passed down to Ashley, once she was old enough. It was something she had her eye on for a long time: his motorcycle. Adam even taught Ash to to ride at a young age. So she was already comfortable riding it by the time she was legally allowed to. It became second nature to her. Sometimes she goes out riding, just to clear her head. Ash loves the freedom of the open road.

-Nutmeg: Grieving Mrs.Gibson recives an unwanted gift from a relative. It's a little brown rabbit. Somehow this animal is meant to fill the hole left by her late husband. The rabbit was seen as a burden to Mrs.Gibson, just another thing to take care of. She was too old for this. She didn't even bother to name it at first. Then, slowly, she found herself growing attached to the little critter. When the rabbit was one year old, Gibson made a special meal for her and finally gave her a name. She decided to call her Nutmeg. A nickname that Gibson's husband used to call her.

Q: Did Travis know about the Devourers of God and Kenneth's involvement in it, or was he kept in the dark about it until he joined?

A: He didn't know when he was younger.

Q: Did the characters come first or were they designed after you came up with the concept for the game?

A: Sal came first, then Larry with the basic idea, then the story and other characters came at the same time.

A: Maybe! And it was drawn at that small scale, so this is the in-game asset is as high res as it gets-

A: I'm HOPING to release a small project with Wither Studios (nothing SF related) MAYBE towards the end of this year. These things are very hard to predict in advance. Which is why games are always being delayed. So I try not to make promises until I know for sure.

A: I think we'll definitely pass that goal (The goal at the end was $306,947!)

Q: 1) Why does Sal grab his pigtails in Packerton's apartment when he thinks they're about to get caught? Is that something he does for comfort? 2) When did Sal first start expressing himself with his hair, and what did Henry initially think?

A: 1) It's a nervous response. Just like someone may cover their face or mouth when scared. 2) Once his mom die, he let his hair grow out. Soon after it got long enough, he started with the pigtails. Henry thought it was a little odd at first but was fine with it.

Q: Did it ever cross your mind to add voice acting to the game? Recently watched Featherfall studio's fan-dub and the game looks even more interesting with voices.

A: It's something that I've thought about but I would be SO picky about getting the right voices. So idk. Plus it'd be a big pain to add retroactively. Maybe more likely in the second game, if I decide to add voices.

Q: We know Travis and Todd are gay, but what about the other characters? Do you have any idea?

A: I will say that Sal is purposely left ambiguous so that players can project their own feelings onto him. Though I have my own ideas about him too.

Q: What was your favorite part about developing Sally Face (Or making the board game)?

A: I love creating the world and seeing it come to life. It's also something truly special to see people connect with my work on an emotional level.

This was the first time you were attending a convention with the boys, and it happened to be in Atlanta, just days after Jensen's 45th birthday. So you wanted to make sure that it was going to be most memorable for the both of you. You made your way to the chair that Jared had pulled in between theirs. After sitting down, you gave a little wave and hello to the audience and they were screaming instantly.

"So, Y/N, how's this possible, that this is the first time you are here with us? As you know fans have begged Jensen for ages to bring you with" Jared started. " I know, I know. I guess the timing was just right this time." you laughed. " Well, many of you probably have questions for Y/N , so fire away," Jensen added.

" How long have you two been together?" fan asked. You thought for a second. " Was it the second or third of your 40th birthday celebration, Jay? " You laughed. " Doesn't matter, let's just say it was at one of them. So five years almost down to the minute." he answered.

"Man, five years already?!" Jared marvelled. " You should know, these two were made for each other. Crazy ones" he laughed and rolled his eyes. With that he earned a quick punch to the ribs from you. " Ahem, let's move on" you said.

You said to the audience and started out. " Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear Jensen, happy birthday to you!! " Everyone was singing with you and Jared while Charlie came out with a cake that had topper with an envelope on it. You took the cake and told Jensen to open his eyes. He gave you and Jared his funny grumpy look and took the envelope."You guys, you know you didn't have to do anything" he said. "Don't look at me, it's all Y/N." Jared commented. You couldn't contain your excitement anymore. "Open it already!! I hope you like it." Jensen sighed. "Alright, alright. "

He opened the envelope and was stunned immediately. Jared tried to take a peek but Jensen pulled the contents close to his chest and looked at you. With shaky voice he asked "Is this real? You're not kidding with me right now, are you?" You shook your head head to answer him and saw some tears glistening in his eyes. He pulled you into a hug and with that he discarded the envelope. "Oh my god, I'm so happy, I just can't wait to take this step together, my angel." He whispered and held you tight for a little while Jared stepped closer and picked up the photo. "Oh my god, you guys! Congratulations!" he joyed and pulled both of you into a bear hug.

"It's an ultrasound picture!" a keen-eyed fan exclaimed. "Oh, man, okay Y/N, Jensen, you two just go and be happy somewhere backstage please. I'm going to take few last questions and then we're finished here for this time. " Jared cheered you while audience clapped. You walked off the stage together and Jensen embraced you tightly again. " You really have no idea how happy I am right now, babe. I love you so much " he whispered and kissed you sweetly. " I love you more, darling. "

You couldn't have wished for a better man than Jensen to start a family. You knew that he was going to be the most protective, caring and loving father to your baby and the best partner for this new adventure ahead of you. That thought made you the happiest you had ever been in your life.

This isn't fan clan related, but I'm curious. If you were to take the four clans (excluding SkyClan) and make them more unique, how would you do it? What I mean is what physique would you give ThunderClan? What distinctive skill would you give RiverClan? Will you give WindClan special customs? What about ShadowClan?

Gosh this is gonna be a long one. It's entirely possible I have answered something like this in the past, and if I have, and this answer is changed from that... well people grow and change too. So let's see what my thoughts are on the clan today. First off, I would focus on what miniscule stuff we get in the books and expand on it. Thunderclan - A very martial society, your rank is earned primarily based on your physical abilities, fighting, hunting, etc. I imagine their ceremonies and expectations revolve around that. They are loud, proud, obnoxious in some ways. They are... almost like Americans with how patriotic they are. Only partially kidding. They are the ones most likely to uphold the strictest niceties of the code, or pretend to anyway. Culturally, they are very into the mythos of heros, telling grand stories of cats who came before, and their exploits, and they value their lineage greatly. Oh, this hero was my sire's great great grandfather, and he did this. It also shows up in their naming conventions, as many kits are named after past heros, or cats the parents respected or want their kits to be like. Aside from attitude, they have skills primarily geared towards their forest environment. They should be able to climb trees, navigate through dense underbrush, and fight off the more abundant predators. As a result, bigger, tougher cats have thrived, whereas the smaller slimmer body types are not considered as attractive and are not as well represented. Scars are considered the height of beauty, as they show off the strength and prowess of a cat. It means they fought something and survived. Windclan - With the introduction of the tunnelers in the special edition, I feel like there's an interesting dichotomy to be found in Windclan. Ultimately, as much as I like it, and even would like to explore it, I feel like there was good reasoning for the tunnelers to be done away with. That said, those skills could be repurposed. To me, what marks Windclan is its ability to be adaptable.

With all its open spaces, I think Windclan would be well served as a semi-nomadic group, that has one or two different camps that it moves between based on the weather and prey density. For the winter, I imagine they shelter in a system of caves, which are maintained and cared for by a small group of tunnelers. In summer, they have an above ground camp, set at a somewhat high point in the territory, where they wouldnt get flooded out during a storm. As a result, cats are taught a wide set of skills. The clan works together at every step of the way, and a take down larger and faster pray like rabbits as a result. Windclan cats are used to traveling long distances, and being friendly with outsiders for a variety of reasons, information on movements of other cats or groups of them and food sources for example. I see Windclan as having the biggest territory, but also the sparsest when it comes to prey and population. Windclan is a very collaborative clan, they sing and tell stories to pass the time as they travel, building on one another for fantastical tales that bring hope and excitement during the bleaker times. They revere the stars, and the wind, and use the sky as their guide to travel. Their spirituality is focused on Starclan as a group, rather than individuals. There are many intricate stories and rituals that the clan performs under the stars, each season and each moon. Names hold great meaning, but are also often ethereal and based on feeling, rather than any particular meaning.

Because of the need to be agile, and survive long distances of travel, sleeker, smaller cats have thrived in the clan, as they require less food and are quick on their paws. Windclan cats rarely meet an enemy head on or one on one, using their agility to ambush and confuse any source of danger. Shadowclan - An ever practical clan, I see Shadowclan as having the smallest and least desirable territory, meaning this clan does what must be done. They are willing to bend the code if they need, in order to get what they want. At the same time, they are fiercely loyal to friends and family. Not necessarily the clan as an image, but the ones they care about. If you are looking for innovation, clever resolutions to problems, and independence of thought, Shadowclan is where you will find it. They'll propose puzzles to solve around the fresh kill pile to keep their minds sharp. There's little fear in this clan, nor much room for being picky. If something is edible, you take it, you bring it back.

Shadowclan often find themselves being called sneaky or duplicitous because they are willing to compromise the code, or use others to get what is needed for the clan to thrive, but really, its about survival. No hard feelings. They've learned to hide, to watch, to learn, that ambush and guerilla tactics are far more effective, and less likely to lose a clan member, than head on confrontation. As such, dark pelts are preferred, but otherwise, if it helps you survive? Thats all that matters.

To some of the other clans they appear irreverent, but to Shadowclan, its just common sense. Starclan isnt alive right now, they are gone. Sure they might be able to help, but might not. Cant rely on them and wait for them to help. Its better to do it yourself. The same can be said for names. Prefixes arent given much value, based only on material things, but your suffix? Thats what defines you, as it shows the skills and challenges you went through to get your name. There's often a fierce competition amongst apprentices to not end up with the same suffix, to be the best in the group at certain things. Riverclan - Riverclan are the epitome of work smarter, not harder. They have the most prosperous territory of the four, with a mostly guaranteed food source throughout the majority of the year, aside from the coldest winter months when things freeze over. The clan makes it its business to know everything there is to know about water, how it flows and pools, how to swim, how to manipulate its direction for the clan's benefit. All kits are taught how to swim from as young as possible. It's said that Riverclan apprenticeships are the hardest of the clans, as apprentices are expected to learn a lot, and take on a lot of responsibility. But once you become a warrior, you are much more prepared and settled, confident in your abilities. And by being aware of their skills and limitations, it allows warriors to know what they have to do, and how long it takes, and allows them the time to relax after. Many warriors seem lazy or childish, because they are reliving the childhood they never had, now that they are old enough to do so. But having the most prosperous food source, also makes Riverclan targets. They have developed a reputation of silver tongues, but also of being pushovers. At the same time, while other clan war far more frequently, Riverclan find themselves the peace makers and neutral arbiters. They are generous with their food and their resources in times of need, leaving other clans often in debt to them.

The physical traits that make a Riverclan cat effective, are thick fur to protect the body from cold water, and an ability to store fat easily. When Riverclan cats do end up in a fight, they don't back down or hide, they take others on directly, their fur and extra padding a layer of protection.

Their worship of starclan is rather traditional, but also not fanatic. They invoke Starclan for blessings regarding the weather, ask them to intercede about rain and storms. There is a belief that Starclan, like the stars reflecting on water, are reflecting in the living cats. Some Riverclan cats even whisper about reincarnations, that just like water comes from the sky, and returns to it, so do cats and their spirits. This means that like Thunderclan, many cats are named for cats from before, or names that have to do with water in its many forms. Well, I said it was gonna be a long one, and boy howdy it is. I havent written on canon clans for a hot minute, but I could probably expand and think on this more, I might never stop if I started though. Maybe this will give others some inspiration!

𝘚𝘢𝘯𝘻𝘶 is your biggest fan girl, and when I say biggest, I mean it. Sanzu is always buying your merch and will proudly wear any shirts, makeup, hairclips, literally anything sanzu will gladly wear it if you asked him too. He will happily be a model for your clothes as well, doesn't matter if it's a bra, panties, socks, he will agree to wear it and model for you. Sanzu will always make it to your shows, livestreams, and fan gatherings. He won't make himself known at the most conventional times but at least he shoes up right?

𝘒𝘰𝘬𝘰𝘯𝘰𝘪 is always making sure the company and people you collaborate with will benefit you and won't screw you over. He listens to every worry you have when a big event is coming up and he's instantly making sure you'll be ok. Kokonoi does keep track of your shows so he knows when to show up. Kokonoi isn't a fan of big crowds but he'll happily support you from VIP seats and often times from your livestreams while he works.

𝘒𝘢𝘬𝘶𝘤𝘩𝘰 adores when you have a new dance routine to show him. It doesn't matter what he's doing, he could be asleep at 5 am but happily wake up to see what new dance you came up with or learned. He'll never tell you this but he often practices the dances himself when he's alone, Kakucho gets tired after like three minutes so best believe this man thinks your incredible for being able to do an entire dance. Kakucho is almost like a mother when your at shows, he'll wait backstage with water, and a snack. Please don't reject him or his heart will actually break, you found him literally pouting once when you said you didn't need a sip of water.

𝘙𝘢𝘯 has literally no shame in him supporting you. He crested a fan account for you, granted it's super cringey edits and edited photos of you but he's proud of it too. Yes he is learning how to make proper and better edits, also please tell him you like the edits, he will cry and give you the silent treatment if you say you don't like them. Anytime ran says that he's dating you while talking to other fans at your concerts literally no one believes him, and he gets real petty about it too. He'll purposely call you over to wherever he is and won't stop kissing you just to rub it in, that he is dating.
