now is a great time to remind all of us of how noble a hero percy jackson is. because he refused to harm the demigods who fought beside luke. as much as he hated the fighting them, he understood why the were fighting. he recognized the gods failed them too. and to not acknowledge that in the aftermath of the war would be disingenuous to the lives lost on either side. and not only that. but he was the only demigod brave enough to tell gods how it is when they offered him immortality. he told the gods to their face that their faults in leadership and parenthood are what lead to their near demise. that they must swallow their pride and nurture the things they create, or the threat of a revolt will follow them. and his ass used his gods-given wish to make them promise to give their children a fair chance at a better life. no one was doing it like him. happy birthday, man.

Many young men are attracted to people like Andrew Tate because he projects strength and confidence in our materialistic and status-seeking world. The truth is young men are lacking role models in life – real examples of heroism – so they are left scraping the bottom of the barrel for inspiration: celebrities, influencers, etc. One problem is seeing money and wealth as the only sign of success vs. other more important values (honor, loyalty, sincerity, courage, sacrifice, etc.) Masculinity is less about taking pictures in front of your Corvette with super models and more a fireman running into a burning building to save a child’s life.

I was looking again at Peoples of Middle Earth and was reminded that there’s a tiny little mention there of an early version of the tale of Cirion and Eorl where Elrond’s sons ride at the front of the ranks of the Eorlingas to drive the Easterlings and orcs out of Gondor. And good god am I glad that Tolkien changed his mind on that and left them out of it!

Elrond’s boys are great, but the Battle of the Field of Celebrant is THE defining moment that creates an eternal bond between our two main kingdoms of Men. Without Eorl coming to Gondor’s aid, there is no founding of Rohan. There is no Oath of Eorl. Gondor and Rohan don’t become BFFs that show up and fight for each other over and over again for centuries. The bond between Rohan and Gondor represents the very best in Men—their loyalty and courage and self-sacrifice. It shows how true friendship allows communities of Men to endure indefinitely and thus achieve a measure of immortality even as each individual member of those communities remains a mortal destined for death. Elves are wonderful, but I want the Men to be able to make this pure, sweet, wholly positive thing happen between them on their own, without requiring a “higher”/“ennobled” people to be involved.

So, good edit there, JRR! Ordinarily, I’m all for moments of fellowship and the different groups in Middle Earth showing up for one another. But this is a rare instance where Men needed a victory all to themselves, and I’m glad they got it.

Also. I wanna just take a moment and look at all of ya'll and tell you ... go ahead and write those fics, draw that art, hold those headcanons you have about your favorite characters being whatever. Make the characters you write about trans. Drabble about autism and how it relates to how characters function. Give them your favorite foods. Sneak in little quirks about yourself. You're allowed to draw characters with traits you have. Scars, blemishes, that stubble on your chin that you hope will grow more into a beard someday (it will I promise) or with nails painted the colors you like. When we do this ... and we share these parts of ourselves and we watch people react kindly, it helps us see that these characters are still loved, even when we shape them to be a little more like ourselves. That's powerful. Do you know why? Because when people see that others love characters that are trans ... they feel like they, too, can be loved as a trans person. Having representation in media means so much not just because we want to connect with something but because we, as humans, crave love and validation and sometimes it's so hard to find it for ourselves when we really need it. If you have friends who write or draw or even just speculate/daydream about this sort of stuff --- by golly, you gotta support them, you gotta boost them up. You gotta say "I love this" because that person will hear you and feel a little bit of that love for themselves ... and that's important. Right now, especially ... it's so goddamn important to do what makes you happy, what helps you love yourself and this little blue dot we are on. Put top scars on your favorite character. That's someone else's favorite, too --- and seeing it might give them the courage to accept themselves for who they are more, it might be the boost they need to say "hey, this is okay actually." We owe that to each other. And you owe it to yourself, too.

yeah I did, I had it since I made my blog and I decided it was getting kinda old so I changed it 😂 renamed it to “having the courage to exist” to reference Dan’s WAD quote “Embrace the void and have the courage to exist.” Bc it’s a quote I think we can all learn from. That despite all the hardships that life brings us, we shouldn’t let those bring us down and that we can be the positive force to ignite change in the world and make it a better place.

- the first is an ask about mad dog, when there were still only 3 fics in english for the choi kang-woo/kim min-joon pairing, mine included (mine, actually, being the first one in english); the two characters kiss in every single one of these fics.

- the second is a conversation in the replies of an mctna post about a banghwi scene. while the ship is personally not my cup of tea, it is an excellent and strongly canonically implied pairing and it makes me angry on behalf of the amazing, extremely talented authors who do write fic for this underrepresented ship. whether the complaint is about the first few pages of bangwhi fics (which only span two pages) or the first few pages of mctna fics in general, i don't recall a single one of them being objectively 'bad' - just bc it might not be your cup of tea and some of the tags might squick you out, doesn't mean it's 'bad'. and even if it was, who's to say the fics aren't still someone's favorite, akin to a gem they've found bc they were looking exactly for a story like this for years?

i'm just... so tired. why do ppl do this? why do they love to dunk on others' fics and hard work so much? do they think that tumblr is magically devoid of ao3 fic authors and that we won't stumble on these conversations and disparaging comments about our fics, especially if the posts can be found in the very public main tags?

not to mention that the fandoms in question are already extreeeeemely tiny and the fic for them is already very rare. can't we even muster up some bare modicum of fandom etiquette and respect in small fandoms like these? i would go on to say that while it's perfectly fine to not like a fic and talk about it, these are conversations that should have been best kept in private DMs - or at least outside of the main tags.

the thing is it's super, super discouraging and does the very opposite of making more ppl feel inclined to write for your favorite small fandom or rare pair. with some ppl tending to be so harsh and judgemental (and honestly entitled) when it comes to fic, it doesn't surprise me at all that so many ppl are so insecure about their writing that they don't dare to post their fics for fear of not being 'good' enough. i find that really sad since fic is all about having fun and doing something you love and sharing that joy with others!! it's not about being objectively 'bad' or 'good'. and tbh i've never read a fic that i can't say at least one (1) good thing about.

so why don't we do more of that instead of complaining about fic where everyone can see it?

These 3 Stories are the best arcs in Urusei Yatsura, period.

The first two arcs are fantastic in terms of story telling and character growth, while the third one perfectly captures UY’s chaotic spirit.

Would it be alright to ask for a recommendation on what movies to watch for King Ghidorah? I absolutely love the design and concept but I've only seen the American movies and felt like kotm barely gave him any screen time

Absolutely it would be!

King Ghidorah is probably Godzillas most iconic enemy, but he doesn’t actually have a cohesive back story. This is largely because the Godzilla movies have goon through several reboots, and his origin has changed with every reboot.

If you want classic ghidorah then here are my top 3 recommendations! (Excluding King of the Monsters since you’ve already seen it.

1) Godzilla, Mothra and King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack (2001). I love love love this movie! This movie is a standalone thing with no continuity at all. Godzilla and Ghidorah have very different origins in this movie than they do in anything else, and both of them have really cool and unique designs in this movie. I think it’s best to go into this movie with as little knowledge as possible and just enjoy the ride.

2) Ghidorah, the Three Headed Monster (1964). This is Ghidorahs first appearance and it’s awesome. This feels like an Avenegers style cross over with Godzilla, Mothra, and Rodan having to team up to fight a new and powerful threat. (Remember that Rodan, and Mothra both originated from their own movies before fighting Godzilla).

3) Godzilla vs King Ghidorah (1991). This is part of the Hesei era reboot, and has a new origin for Ghidorah. I think his origin is less cool in this version, but the movie is really good. Despite his weird origin Ghidorah is extremely cool and threatening in this movie. It has some of my favorite special effects of any Godzilla movie ever.

These are just my preference! There are some great ghidorah movies that aren’t on this list
