I am not depressed... but I’ve definitely been feeling more down during the last week or so. It’s mainly because my work has been so inconsistent and I’ve been working overtime non-stop for reasons that shouldn’t even happen. coupled with my lack of energy to cook and take care of myself because I’m so tired FROM work that I just air fry potatoes and drink costco pre-packaged bubble tea at home. then on my actual days off part of me wants to do something, but I don’t really wanna expend the time to go out but when I’m at home alone I feel bored and my television is broken and my macbook is on life support. then the guy I was talking to and was mildly interested in didn’t work out, and I don’t know how to beat the goron boss in zelda and my resin hobby is at a standstill because I’m at a lost for ideas at the moment. then combining all this with the great weather we’re having but not really having the heart to enjoy it makes me feel guilty for not doing more and it’s just a whole big snowball of things that I think could be fixed if my mom came back from hong kong and I didn’t have to drive and get gas and groceries anymore...

The internet is a powerful thing. It allows us to meet someone who we never would’ve met due to being too far away. Emil finds himself appreciating the power of the internet every single time he gets to send a message to his best friend – who happens to live on the other side of the world – Leon.

“So, like, I was thinking,” Leon suddenly says, changing the topic of their conversation – a rare one, over the phone.

“Oh?” Emil listens closely, interested in Leon’s idea.

“We have each other’s addresses, so…”

“‘So’ what?”

“We could, like, send each other something from our country…” Leon trails off and hums to himself. 

“That sounds like a good idea,” Emil comments. “I know it’s not exactly that creative, but I could send you one of my lopapeysas…”

“I’d love to have one of your… uh… what’d you call it?”

“Lopapeysa,” Emil says once more. “It’s a sweater.”

“Oh,” Leon says, understanding now. “Clothes are probably a better idea than what I was thinking of…”

“... What were you thinking of?” Emil asks, now kind of worried for the response.

“I was gonna make something traditional and send it to you.”

“Oh, that’s not as bad as I was thinking. Although, wouldn’t it just lose a lot of its flavor and texture getting shipped?” 

“Yeah…” Leon sighs. “I guess I should find something else to ship…”

“I thought of something,” Emil mumbles.

“Oh? Tell me, tell me!” 

“Hm… nah, you’ll find out when you get it.”

“Ah, you’re gonna make me wait? How cruel!” Leon gasps dramatically, causing Emil to giggle a little bit. 

“Yeah, have fun waiting,” Emil replies, still chuckling a bit. “I look forward to what you give me.”

A few weeks have passed, and Emil has forgotten about the whole conversation. He kept his word and did send some stuff, but he forgot about the stuff that Leon was sending him.

It completely vanished from his mind, until…

“Emil! We got a package and it’s addressed to you!” Lukas shouts to him from the other room, clearly not wanting to bother walking through a whole 2 rooms to knock on his bedroom door. 

Slightly confused, Emil stands up and walks out of his room and to Lukas to retrieve this package. Lukas simply hands the package over and walks off, presumably to do his own thing. 

At the sight of the package, Emil immediately remembers. He quickly opens it up to see what Leon sent him. 

In the box, Emil finds a few prepackaged snacks. He has no idea what kind since the writing is all in the Chinese characters that he cannot read. Additionally, there is a T-shirt that is probably a couple sizes too big for him. Emil picks it up and looks at what’s written on it. It’s some kind of Hong Kong souvenir shirt with the flag on it. Emil smiles to himself and chuckles softly. Of course Leon would send something like this. 

Emil wonders to himself about what Leon thinks about the licorice he sent him.

Later that day, Emil wastes his freetime writing poetry. His peaceful creativity is broken by the sound of his phone going off. Picking it up, Emil sees a message from Leon: “WHAT ARE THESE BLACK ROCKS OF GROSS??”

Monthly Greasiness has returned, my friends. This one's a banger.

We'll start with the animals. The sealed Imperial beetle is just swell, and those truly ancient spider rings look a hell of a lot like our local "grass spiders". Lounging frog charm is basic but fun, the roaches are stellar sculpts, and the pterosaur is striking in black and white. The rat is in a bag for a reason:

It's a grow toy. You know the ones, hard rubber that expands in water, leaving you with a puffy, slimy copy of an already crude sculpt. Well, this one looks just as good as any generic rubber rat, so the detail might actually hold. Close to 6" as it is, this thing could conceivably clear 3 feet in length if the packaging is to be believed. I'm not dragging the aquarium out of storage to find out.

The figurines are many and glorious. From left to right, we have a pair of old Hong Kong fantasy warriors, bearing various weapons and looking like subhuman mooks from a Frazetta painting; a knockoff Bowser figure (possibly a stamper in its original release); and a pair of Pocket Goblins, wildcards in the war between the Pocket Ninjas and Pocket Skeletons. All five stand in defense of their dark god, Dee-Kahl.

I'm rather alarmed by the number of heads in this box. 16 heads. That's twice the amount you can comfortably fit in a duffel bag. I feel like I've been sent a message, but damned if I know what.

Anyway, there are resin recasts of Whiplash and Skeletor in here. It's something I never knew I wanted, and these two work really well together somehow. Couple shiny skull rings, sure. Plenty of Madballs beads. And that creepy green dude.

You all know how this goes. Suck up slime with the thing, then squeeze it and watch it vomit. Wholesome family fun. Well, these don't quite work the same way: the upper rear cranium is wide open; you just pour slime in there and jam a knuckle into the hole to seal it. Clumsy, but effective:

Yep, that's pretty nasty. But fun!

Assorted Other Toys! Couple more Atom Age lookin' sci-fi vehicles, a saucer and another one of those sweet space cranes. Peg Checkers is basically tic tac toe on a triangular, 15-spot board. Still 3 in a row, though. The rubber rings were also sold as belts for action figures. In fact, I'm using one on the shelf now.

See? Looks great.

Flat Fun is two buttons and a classic gag. The same trick can be done with lemon juice or milk, which makes me wonder if the non-toxic material here is one or the other in powder form.

SAN JOSE, Calif. (KGO) -- A 20-year employee of the San Jose Police Officers Association charged in a scheme to distribute drugs, including fentanyl.

"I was just absolutely taken aback, shocked, became saddened," Sean Pritchard, President of the San Jose Police Officers Association said, "And as the days have gone by, I'm at a place where I'm now I'm angry."

Sean Pritchard, president of the San Jose Police Officer's association says he first got a call from federal authorities last Friday that Joanne Segovia, the union's executive director, was charged with attempting to import illegal synthetic opioid drugs from overseas, specifically valeryl fentanyl.

Federal prosecutors says it was part of a scheme to distribute them in the U.S.

Pritchard says Segovia had been with the union for nearly 20 years.

"This person has been really known as the grandma of the POA, and it's not the woman that we have known for well over a decade and so that's why it's been so difficult," Pritchard said, "A woman who has helped fallen officer's families, helped organize fundraisers when officer's children are sick. That's the person we know."

Investigators say Segovia, 65, used her personal and office computers to order the drugs and agreed to distribute them elsewhere in the U.S.

The SJPOA says they had no knowledge of it and are conducting an internal investigation.

The union says Segovia handled front desk operations but did not make decisions for the organization.

They still don't know what her exact intentions were with the drugs.

According to the criminal complaint, Homeland Security agents were led to Segovia through an investigation that looked into a network they say ships controlled substances made in India.

A network operative's phone was searched and they found messages that were found to be linked to Segovia and her San Jose address.

Investigators found that between October of 2015 and January 2023, Segovia allegedly had approximately 61 shipments mailed to her home coming from countries all over the world, from locations that included Hong Kong, Hungary, India, and Singapore.

The shipments had labels that included "Wedding Party Favors," "Gift Makeup," and "Chocolate and Sweets," federal officials said.

Federal investigators intercepted those shipments and say they found thousands of narcotic pills.

According to the complaint, Segovia continued to order controlled substances even after being interviewed by federal investigators in February. On March 13, federal agents seized a parcel addressed to Segovia in Kentucky, containing valeryl fentanyl, a fentanyl analog. The package reportedly originated from China on March 10 and declared its contents as a clock.

Santa Clara County supervisor Cindy Chavez heads the county's fentanyl working group that works to combat the opioid crisis locally.

"What's really concerning me is that it's just a reminder of how accessible this is," she said, of the news, "And that we, from a law enforcement and a community perspective, need to be much more aggressive and much more assertive about how we deal with interrupting that chain that that we just have been unable to break."

ABC7 reached out to Segovia and have not heard back.

The complaint states that she denied any illegal activity in initial interviews with investigators and then later tried to blame her housekeeper.

Segovia is due in court Friday at 1 p.m.

If convicted, she faces a maximum sentence of 20 years.

After finishing the first part of the day at the hotel, we moved on to the church. The couple held their full-length wedding ceremony at one of central London’s most iconic churches, All Souls Langham Place.

We mention this in detail because we recognised some familiar faces from Chinese Church in London.

Although the couple is based in Surrey, their church community friends travelled to All Souls Langham Place to sing at the ceremony. The choir from Epsom and another choir from France performed during the ceremony. And the sermon was translated into Cantonese. These showed the couple honour their traditions and guests from different cultures. The couple served an array of cakes, desserts, coffees, and teas to their guests—an uncommon but delightful touch compared to other weddings we’ve covered.

Following the long church ceremony, the group sang Amazing Grace, had the confetti shot outside the church. And we organised a big group photoshoot with all the guests in front of the church. It was a challenging but rewarding task, as the bustling Oxford Street traffic kept flowing. Despite the difficulties, we captured beautiful photos, with passers-by cheering and applauding the happy couple.

Back at the hotel, the banquet room was ready, but we first completed a romantic couple photoshoot on the hotel rooftop, featuring a stunning view of Paddington.

After capturing the cake cutting, snapshots, and the couple’s first dance, the day concluded seamlessly.
