#honestly i was the biggest disaster in most areas

People keep wondering how Trump won, but honestly it's relatively easy to see. On top of the far right turn that usually takes place after disasters, there's a few other factors at play. Mainly, inflation.
The average American doesn't have a clue what's going on in their government (state or federal) or around the world. I tried talking to a local about Palestine, and she thought it was another word for Pakistan. Right now the biggest concern I've heard from my neighbors is actually groceries and gas prices.
Biden failed to address inflation, and Harris didn't have a solid plan. Neither did Trump, but Trump did say he was going to decrease prices, and the people in my rural area here remember everything being cheaper in 2017 but not much else. That includes just about every racial group present in my neighborhood. We don't have widespread Internet and most people get the news from satellite TV news, so they are uninformed about most things.
(logistics are tricky for people to keep in mind when their wallets are on the line)
On top of that, Trump promised high tax returns for many income brackets . That extra money looks awfully good if you're struggling to afford groceries right now. Regardless of if he's going to do it or not. (Prices will probably get higher because of the proposed tarrifs). People want to keep their own fed and safe, regardless of foreign affairs or civil rights. The second Trump's team announced their tax return plan I knew he was going to be elected. I'm just surprised I predicted it before Allan Lichtman.
I don't know where this post is going, but don't blame other left-leaning people for voting 3rd party or being pro-Palestine. If you really want to figure out the general consensus among average Americans, talk to your neighbors. Join a local Facebook page. Organize and build community as much as possible. We will need it in these difficult years.

When there's something strange in the neighborhood, who you gonna call? Probably not John Constantine...?
I'm still pretty new to these DPxDC spaces, but as I've been exploring it from the perspective of someone currently deep in the throes of DC hyperfixation (and Danny Phantom being a past hyperfixation that I sometimes relapse into) one trend that I find kinda odd (but not necessarily unexpected) is just how prevalent Constantine is in these spaces that are largely dominated by BatFamily AUs and headcanons. Like, I do get it (kind of). Constantine does occasionally show up in Batman stories where Bruce encounters something supernatural and needs consulting on the case, and Constantine definitely appeals to the fandom audience in some pretty clear ways. Yeah, he's a handsome, charming bastard with a secret heart of gold. He's British, witty, cool, and an asshole. He may be one hell of a messy bisexual disaster, but he's OUR messy bisexual disaster, dammit! So we forgive him for being a cynical jerkass sometimes. I haven't consumed much media with him in it, but like... I get it and why out of all the mystical characters that DC has in their roster, why you might choose to include him over other characters. However I do find it kinda odd because like... Constantine is NOT the kind of person that I would see Batman nor anyone in his family particularly going for when they need help when something supernatural comes up... In fact the biggest reason that I haven't seen much from Constantine is that... He just does not appear in a lot of media that Batman is in! So I haven't seen much of him! (In terms of media that I've consumed for the sake of Batman being in it, he's only appeared in Justice League Action. No other animated series for Batman. And he hasn't really been in any recent comics that cross over with Batman that have caught my eye! He didn't even have a story in Knight Terrors!)
Of course there's no shame in using Constantine for your stories. He's popular for a reason, and if he happened to be in the area, then sure, the Bats might grab him to help them with their latest case. But for magic-users that the BatFamily might go to for assistance, he isn't always going to be the best choice. So for anyone who needs a magic-user in their BatPhanfiction, here are a few alternate suggestions.
(Suggestions under the cut for length)
Jason Blood
For people with magical expertise, I would expect the Bat Family to call Jason Blood before anyone else. Jason is old. How old? Old as balls. He's actually been around since the time of Arthurian legend. Apparently he was a scribe for Merlin before being bound to the immortal demon Etrigan which made him immortal too. Having worked for Merlin himself, having some level of innate magic from being bound and therefore sharing a body with a demon, and having been around for hundreds of years, this means that Jason has had plenty of ability and time to learn and practice magic and to perfect his craft. He knows his stuff and has a level of experience that is practically unparalleled on Earth. He's not a man to be trifled with and Batman has worked with him on many an occasion! The biggest reason that the BatFamily would call on him before anyone else? Location, location, location. Jason actually lives in Gotham City, so not only does he have the requisite experience and knowledge, but he's also easy for the BatFamily to get ahold of too! And as a bonus, with a simple rhyme, he can turn into the demon Etrigan who can kick ass on his behalf! Jason may seem to be a bit grumpy and stern on the outside, but he's a reliable ally to have and desires to protect others just as much as Bruce does.
Zatanna Zatara
Zatanna is a stage magician by trade, a master of tricks, illusion, and slight of hand... But she also happens to be among the most powerful actual magic-users in the known DC universe! Honestly, if you know of her and still choose to use Constantine over her in a story when either will do? You're doing yourself a bit of a disservice. Just look at her! She's gorgeous, radiant, optimistic, always has a fun trick up her sleeve, knows how to have a good time, and unlike Constantine, doesn't have the kinds nor number of enemies that he does! And best of all? She's actually buddies with Bruce Wayne! They're good friends! In fact, Bruce trained under her father for a time to learn escape artistry! Honestly it's a bit of a shame that people forget how good of friends they are... They might have dated in the past? But ever since Bruce mastered escape artistry, they've kept in touch! The two honestly would have an unspoken trust with each other and ability to rely on each other that few other characters could have with Bruce. Zatanna is usually on the road performing, but if she's available, she'd likely be more than happy to pop on over to Gotham to help Brucie out with a case! Superman may be Batman's best friend, and Harvey Dent may be Bruce Wayne's best friend... But honestly Zatanna Zatara is a close second place on both accounts! She's GREAT! I crave for her to be included in more stories! WHERE ARE MY AUNTIE ZATANNA AUs!???
Xanthe Zhou
Honestly this is a personal suggestion that I want to see because it's just a damn shame that it doesn't already!
Are you hesitant to use a comic character with a huge backlog of stories that you couldn't possibly hope to get through for fear of messing them up? Do you want to use a canonically LGBT character? Do you want to use a character that's a person of color? What about a character that specializes in interacting with the spirits of the dead for your Danny Phantom crossover fics? Because boy howdy do I have you covered! Say hello to Xanthe Zhou! A nonbinary Chinese-American spirit envoy within the DC universe who first debuted in March of last year (2023)! So guess what! There is no long, confusing continuity to follow! If you want to catch up on all you need to know about them, go ahead and read their 6 issue miniseries Spirit World and you should be covered! And heeeey~ Guess who else is in Spirit World~~~?? One Cassandra Cain and one John Constantine! Plus the art is drop-dead gorgeous!
So please! I beseech you! Check out Spirit World and get to know Xanthe! They are literally everything you are looking for in a character to add to your Danny Phantom and Batman crossover story and are brand-spanking new and it is just a DAMN shame that they aren't already in any DPxDC stories!!! And guess what! They live in Gotham City to boot! (Gotham's Chinatown to be specific.) So please! Do yourself a favor and check out Spirit World and add Xanthe to your stories! If nothing else, I'll certainly read them!
In any case, that's the list and all I can come up with for now! If you have any further suggestions, please don't be afraid to add them on in a reblog! My comics knowledge is very limited and am always happy to hear about other ideas and characters that I've missed! I've actually seen some usage of Klarion the Witch Boy in this phandom which was a pleasant surprise! But sadly, I don't know nearly enough about him to actually say anything about him. But please! Go ahead and tell me about other magic using characters that you think would be suited to the DPxDC universe! And if you make anything of this sort with Xanthe in it... Please send it to me! I want that shit pumped directly into my veins!!!
P.S. I just wanted to say... Batman miiiiight call Santa Claus before he calls Constantine for help on an investigation lol (apparently Bruce apprenticed under Santa for a time :p ).

@bullfinch-lover
Yes! Thank you for giving me the opportunity to info dump!
Okay so, Tornados come in like all different kinds of forms like rope
Cone or stove pipe (these are one of my favs)
Wedge (another one of my favs purely on how massive they can be)
Rain wrapped
Twins
Nocturnal (one of the scariest in my opinion considering how you don’t know it’s there unless there’s lightning)
And by far the most interesting and also terrifying dead man walking
The most fascinating tornado in history for me definitely has to be the 2013 El Reno tornado. One of the biggest wedge tornadoes in recorded history being almost 3 miles wide at 2.6 miles in width
Another interesting fact about tornadoes is sometimes an indicator of a tornado incoming is things becoming eerily calm and the sky turning a vibrant shade of green
Also other interesting fact and a pretty good survival tip, if you’re looking directly at a tornado and it appears to not be moving, that means it’s heading directly at you and you need to seek shelter immediately
Storm chasing is one of the most fascinating hobbies and jobs that someone could have and I would honestly love to do it someday. Granted I would probably just do it for photography and not science because I’m not that good in that field. Also I live in an area that will most likely never get a tornado so that’s something for future me to do
I actually used to be really terrified of tornadoes as a child and learning about them in school because I only knew of the damage and devastation they caused. But now I have a new found fondness of this phenomenon, one because it’s an absolute wonder to witness this beast of nature, and two I just think they’re cool
Granted I understand that tornadoes while they can be cool looking, they cause massive devastation and death and injury and my heart goes out to anyone who has experienced going through a tornado and I know it could be very traumatic for people
That’s why I also look up to storm chasers as well. They’re helpful in ways of helping detect the possibility of tornados coming and give people the opportunity to prepare for when disaster strikes. And they’re out they’re in the front lines collecting this data up close and personal so we can know how to better work through these disasters of nature and I really admire them for that
Thank you again for letting me rant about my recent hyperfixation I just find these things so neat

Director's Cut - All Hands on Deck!
Hi y'all, I got a star! ⭐ So I wanted to cut in on this series I started 2-3 years ago that is taking me forever and a day to write.
I spent weeks watching compilation videos of BTS and finding old blogs with their management and staff team and their two main managers that definitely were going to cameo the most in the series. The biggest issue is because they’re managers and behind the scenes staff, it’s always tricky trying t find a characterization that doesn’t seem too off-putting or bizarre.
Outside of that, watching the entire gang dissolve into madness with everyone catching some sort of weird plague is fun to write even though it’s quite difficult. I’ve always been in the habit of writing these long af fics, instead of shorter, easier to post/easier to digest stories. Part of what takes forever is trying to write such long af pieces, even if they’re unnecessary to be that long.
I do plan on continuing this, probably after screaming when Jin makes it back home.
So this fic is actually titled in my story folder as ‘3amchicken’–which was the original plan, just uncontrolled undercooked chicken disaster and hungry boys without restraint–but it ended up being, what? As
Here’s the original fic beginning:
Honestly, they should have done their research first. It had started as a craving for fried chicken after a night working at the studio, and a bleary-eyed Sejin dropped Jimin and Taehyung off at their dorms with fried chicken from the new-but-slightly-seedy restaurant down the street from the studio. Ever the foodies, the two night-owls were always down for trying new restaurants, especially ones within walking distance from their home or from the studio. “Don’t eat too much too quickly,” manager Sejin warned them. The poor man had been up far too long with them; Jimin felt bad having to wake him up from where he’d fallen asleep in the hall from the practice room, but they didn’t have much of a means home outside of walking, which wasn’t the best option at three in the morning. Sejin unlocked the doors to the dark SUV. “You don’t have heavy assignments tomorrow but I know you’re not going to sleep well if you eat all of that chicken tonight.” His eyes turned to the two large bags the boys held. “It’s not just for us!” Taehyung argued quickly, boxy grin in full force. “We’re gonna share… Most of it, yeah.” Jimin nodded quickly, although he knew he and Taehyung would probably eat a ton of this on their own. They hadn’t eaten since late lunch, and after dancing for even longer than Hoseok that night, they were positively famished. And given the heavy sigh, both boys knew their manager knew they weren’t going to listen. He bid them goodnight and waited for them to enter the building before driving off. Jimin snickered, bumping his shoulder against Taehyung’s as they hurried to the elevators. “Think anyone else is up?” “Suga-hyung definitely is,” answered Taehyung, already reaching into the bag for a biscuit. “I asked if he wanted anything, he just asked for wings.” Fishing his keys from his pocket, Jimin made a face. “Ugh, you buy wings for Suga-hyung but you won’t buy wings for me? What kind of best friend are you?” “The kind that buys chicken with you in the middle of the night. Jimin-ah, it smells so good, we gotta hurry and eat it.” With a laugh, Jimin unlocked the door and let Taehyung in first, slipping off his shoes as he locked the door. The kitchen light was still on, but only the tv shone from the living room. As they carried the bags into the area, Jungkook’s messy bun popped into view. “Chicken!” Yoongi chuckled and gently shoved Jungkook away as he rose, stretching his back. Jungkook, instead, climbed over the back of the couch to join the two 95-liners in the kitchen, helping them lay out the different packages. “Wow, this stuff is so greasy,” he remarked, staring at his hands after touching a box. “And we’re sure this place is credible?” Taehyung shrugged. “Seemed credible to me. I guess it’s just greasy.” “That’s going to hurt your stomach later if you eat too much.” But even with the warning, Yoongi walked over and pulled a potato wedge from one of the boxes, taking a bite. He nodded approvingly. “Tastes good though.”

Cartoon characters you think had the biggest fall off in terms of writing?
Well, can think of a few examples
Vlad Masters from Danny Phantom
This one is quite obvious: He was a pretty interesting villain with unique motivations in the first two seasons and had a specific relationship with Danny that moved his character arc forward. He was a really good foil for Danny in the way their morals clashed.
Then Season 3 comes and sends most of that characterization to the trash, leaving a superficial version of him. He acts more as a generic villain, his motivations seem to change every episode he shows up. He is introduced as main antagonist in the season and barely does anything, with D-Stabilized being the closest you get to that, etc.
I would include Valerie Gray in the spot as well, but honestly i feel like she was more mistreated than her writing ¨fell off¨. She still acts like her usual self in D-Stabilized and it is probably her best episode along with Flirting With Disaster.
2- Marco Diaz from Star vs The Forces of Evil
Marco is a character that was having some pretty solid development in the first two seasons. He even forgave and befriended Star ex-boyfriend who only saw him as a rival. He learned to overcome his own insecurities and date a girl he really liked since he was like 10.
...And around Season 3 he like... started to flirt or date with half of the teenager girl cast. He almost started to gain a harem for all the girls that were into him. Not to mention that he kissed Star when she was dating Tom... after he spent a lot of time trying to be in good terms with him and telling him that he wasn't a thing with Star. That's not to say Star didn't mess it up big but at least she was improving in other areas like helping the monsters.
The writers took a character that was overall likable and turned him into harem dude. It was like they didn't know what to do with him after Season 2 and just matched him with every girl they could think off.
3-Mordecai from Regular Show
This case is well known and self explanatory. He was in general a good character in the first seasons. Then he got tangled in all this romance between Margaret and CJ, he messed it up so badly that CJ never spoke to him again and she didn't appear in the series later on.
The irony is that while Mordecai was getting worse, Rigby was improving in some ways by taking classes and finally graduating from school. He grows into someone more mature and responsible.
And this drama romance in the end didn't seem to have importance later on since Mordecai didn't end up with Margaret, instead he ends up with a bat girl he meets in the time skip montage.
4-Morty Smith from Rick and Morty
This is a bit weird because it isn't that his character got ruined but it feels like in some ways he has regressed to the way he was on Season 1 and Season 2.
I feel like the main issues that many have pointed out is that Rick is allowed to get better, while Morty can't. He can't process his own trauma and the way he is treated by his own family (yes, it isn't only Rick the problem). So he is stuck going back and forth with his evolution as character.
My theory is that, because the show has this thing of trying to keep the status quo, changing Morty too much would mean that the writers have to change his dynamic with Rick and... that would mean the show changing its status quo as well.
5-Charmcaster from the original Ben 10 series
I don't recall that much about her but i do remember she was someone who practiced dark magic and was mistreated by her uncle in the original show. Then in the series that followed she became someone a lot worse?? Like she started killing a lot of people for some reason. It was super weird.
6- Nine from Sonic Prime
I wouldn't call it character assassination. However, he feels like he becomes a very different character from who he was in Season 1 and Season 2.
In Season 1 and 2 he was someone who was looking out for himself. He didn't want to cause harm on purpose and just wished to live in a place he could be safe. He is just a kid who hasn't had the best life and wants someone that can be his friend.
Then in Season 3 he starts putting people in danger intentionally? He actually attacks people and threatens others. There isn't exactly a proper build up to this character change. It just happens.
It doesn't help that he doesn't have that many moments he seems to regret his actions. He just keeps going and going. So when his heel turn comes it feels... cheap, again because there wasn't enough build up to that.
I would include Chloe from Miraculous Ladybug but i haven't watched that series so..
These are the ones that come to my mind at the moment. Maybe there are others that i'm not able to recall at the moment.

that said, I've been playing Baldur's Gate 3 for about 5 hours now, give or take, I'm at the very beginning, so don't spoiler me but also don't read if it's a spoiler to you, but here are some first impressions:
I don't know the name of races and people yet but I immediately attacked Kagha when I met her, the awful woman who wanted to imprison a child and maybe let her snake eat her, and then the whole damn cave just started a massacre, all the tiefling or whatever they are called murdered by bear-druids, LAKES OF BLOOD, I gotta go to the previous save
LAKES
thank god I did recruit Wyll first so in any case, even if I wanted to keep going on that cursed gameplay, I'd have him. My girl (Lex) is already kinda into him just because he's all hot and heroic
I MADE HER THINKING: she'll be a super stressed out witch/wizard who wants to learn everything. And then I went for making her a criminal background by accident yet I'm going against the whole 'make her do criminal things' idea because i don't like making mean choices the first time around, so I guess in universe she 'grew' because of the trauma??
but I do like the idea of someone who probably came from the streets and mistreament bonding over trauma and being attracted to the 'good' guys of the team while finding the 'grey-area' ones funny
Gale: I liked him at first sight so I am, of course, expecting him to backstab me very badly. I keep looking at him and wondering how he'll betray me exactly.
Astarion: I was on the fence because the one spoiler I had was that I had to let him feed on my character's blood for romance and NO?? I already don't like most vampires lore/aesthetic, let alone if I'm meant to succumb to it. And then I realized I was probably going to miss out on cutscenes and secrets and I like to do what I'm expected to do by the game in the first playthrough so I let him, but warily and justifying it by 'she saw in his mind and felt a bond because he was enslaved'. No way I'm shipping them after that, though. The way she's looking at him is exactly how I wanted her to look at him
(okay I could have shipped them especially because she was about to beat the sh*t out of him from the very first second they met, but not after he kept being so uncaring about the whole 'trying to suck her blood while she slept')
I also have to leave him out of the party together with La'zel because they would never approve of my hero-like choices, which is too bad because I find La'zel hilarious
even though MY character shouldn't approve either of hero choices either (next time I'm making her mean, I swear). Shadowheart is approving everything I do and I feel like she'd approve doing my girl as well even though
Lex is honestly a disaster but every time I throw dices she wins, or almost every time, so I guess her biggest quality is LUCKY. Needs to be kept to ridiculous levels if I add her to my multi

I live pretty close to Conyers (luckily outside of both the evacuation and the shelter in place areas) so I feel like I've got a little more info about what's going on than tumblr at large. We're about 20 miles from the fire, which as far as the wind is concerned, is not far at all. I could smell it before they even sent out the alert on our phones about it and assumed one of our neighbors was burning something they shouldn't be...
First off, I'd like to point out that there IS an area completely evacuated (tbh, i've not kept up enough to know if they still are, my bad, but they were for quite a while). Homes and businesses that were in close proximity are/were EMPTY. Overlooking that is ignoring the biggest response to the disaster for the people put at most risk.
Second, even without the super smart explanation of the science behind, I can tell you from my own experience with the smell that this is happening exactly like they say. During the majority of the day you can't smell anything. When you first wake up though? Like the during the times I'm having to wait at a bus stop with my kids? Everything smells like chemical fire/chlorine/ass outside. And that is TWENTY miles from us. Once the day heats up, the smell dissipates. In the evening it takes a while, but you can start to notice the smell a couple hours after sunset.
And look y'all, I get it. I live in GA and i worked in downtown ATL during covid. I know exactly how bad the government can be in dealing with emergencies to public health and safety. Our governor (Kemp, you've probably heard of him because he and Trump have a love/hate relationship much like DeSantis in FL) fucked us all over so bad with doing as little as possible to help during the early days of covid, fought with Atlanta and it's mayor/legislature (including taking them to court!) To UNDO the measures they had put in place. And then he lifted the shelter in place early cause "the economy." So I understand the inherent distrust in the government from a very personal place. But before you fear monger, do a quick Google or something. The EPA and all of the local government is doing what they can in a situation that should never have happened. It also came literally like the day after Helene passed through here. Those of us living here would appreciate yelling at the right people (ie the company and whoever the he'll let them pass their inspections in the past) rather than the officials who are honestly a bit overwhelmed and doing their best.

Employers in ND Games Rated By Likelihood of an OSHA Violation
On a scale of 1-10, a 10 meaning holy shit OSHA needs to intervene ASAP and a 1 meaning I would generally be fine working here. Also I just took Employment Law so I’m gonna be that nitpicky person that recognizes that only employees, not independent contractors, are subject to OSHA regulations.
SCK1: The pliers being used to fix a gas leak later swapped with a ladle is not a great solution, but what’s more concerning is what kind of godforsaken gas is coursing through the veins of that kitchen that if he doesn’t have something supporting it for 3 seconds the ENTIRE building is engulfed in flames? Are they cooking on a stove using methane gas? 9/10
SCK-Remastered: Organizing all those unrelated books is probably a pain in the ass for Aunt Eloise but not a safety risk. Getting pistol whipped by your “boss” who isn’t even an actual cop probably sucks but Nancy was functioning more as an independent contractor. I don’t remember what happens in the boiler room exactly, but I don’t think the chains on it were by design, and there was definitely a way to cool that place off if needed, so no -major- hazard. 4/10
STFD: The ability to lock that soundstage so that not even security or the fire department can get in is a lawsuit waiting to happen. The threats and stuff that Rick get probably don’t matter because he’s an independent contractor (although -maybe- an employee if he’s getting contracted season after season??), but the security overall is sus given how easily Owen Spayder snuck in. Imagine if they had some kind of sexual harassment complaint and the offender is just showing up to work under a fake identity. I wouldn’t be surprised if Dwayne was doing that already as Owen. 8/10
MHM: Everyone’s probably an independent contractor so honestly OSHA probably wouldn’t even care about that questionable chandelier. The biggest hazard in the place is asking people about gum bo fu but that seems more of an interpersonal than work environment problem. 1/10
TRT: The spinning 3-step-bridge that those chains to get into the tower activate seems like a disaster. I don’t even know where that pit goes. To the laundry facility? Also the obvious steps sliding that gets Lisa at the end. But if you keep all but the most trained employees out of the tower area and elevator shaft the rest of the place is just a hotel. 3/10
FIN: The rickety lights aren’t great, but the place was gonna get torn down anyway. The wardrobes that lead to each other seems like a sexual harassment claim waiting to happen, the literal actual guillotine could cause some problems, and what the fuck was that cooler that Maya is in at the end? Nothing major that couldn’t be fixed, but as is I’d like some investigation. 5/10
SSH: Hahahah that fucking rock solid structure with stairs with no hand railings and then you walk outside and there’s still no railings even on the BRIDGE over WATER and then it makes you walk around in the dark?? Who is the poor employee who has to restock those glowsticks when they run out? Or someone drips a lil bit of water out of their water bottle onto the stairs? When they make the staff schedule for this place they better factor in the regular trips to Nurse Bluefoot’s because everyone’s gonna be getting head injuries. 9/10
DOG: We still don’t fucking know what Ranger Akers really does for work, Emily seems to run her own basic retail business, idk how Red Knott is funding his escapades. I’m gonna hope that Mickey Malone had his employees enter through the non-graveyard route that wasn’t pitch black, but I’m also really loving the idea of a speakeasy employee snitching on OSHA because they’re not getting enough bathroom breaks or something. (OSHA wasn’t formed until the 70s) 1/10
CAR: After working at a theme park this game is extra funny but like the very concept that these pieces of actual heavy machinery could just be activated at inopportune moments by a single user? Even non-malicious employees could end up fucking murdering each other because there’s no secondary accountability to these machines. Shut this place down and redesign every ride holy shit. 9/10
DDI: I doubt OSHA would figure out how to get into the tunnels from the Hot Kettle. I don’t even know who’s really in charge of the lighthouse but I think as long as they got decent training it’s not an issue. Katie’s boat and Whale World are probably fine unless Katie sends employees down to slip on the thawing fish water. 1/10
SHA: I think….all is fine? The fucked up chicken has a clear warning, the horses are taken care of by someone who’s definitely competent, Shorty’s food is probably ass but I don’t think it’s like a medical hazard. I don’t know what the fuck Mary uses to polish agates but I assume she wears proper eye wear. 0/10
CUR: The only person working a job here is Ethel, who is probably independently contracted, but I don’t think she has anything to bitch about except Nancy going down a slide and walking out of a door. 0/10
CLK: Tubby Telegrams was like the original Postmates (so, independent contractor). The tetanus nail “tip” Nancy gets isn’t great but not worth looking into. Jim Archer’s bank is vanilla as hell. We don’t get to see any of the Lilac Inn’s dining area or kitchen. What we know about the kitchen is that it fully burns down if someone leaves the stove on, but it was the 30s so was anything really safe? 0/10
TRN: Let’s maybe assume John Grey is actually an “employee” and he’s there to find ghosts for his TV show. If so, he gets a sweet ass ENTIRE CAR to himself. The engineer has nothing to complain about. I think Fatima, the mortician at the crypt who jizzes himself over Camille’s, and any and all employees at the Copper Fork seem to be working in similar conditions to your standard fast food place. 0/10
DAN: Within 3 seconds of walking into her new job, Nancy gets a plant pot thrown at her head and is expected to act like it’s no big deal. She has to pick up cockroaches which is nasty but not a health risk (I think?). Getting kicked in the titty by your boss probably violates some rights, as is the questionable reimbursement policy regarding items haggled for at Pont Neuf. 6/10
CRE: Contrary to popular sentiment, Big Island Mike’s Immersion Excursion is not a sweat shop, but is in fact a vacation experience for the whole family (just like a sweat shop). No one knows what the hell is happening at the HilliHilli but those protective suits seem like they’re probably keeping people safe, though there’s always the lingering possibility of the Hilli HIlli Homeboy himself losing his shit on you. Dr. Kim just has you pick up bug poop which is fair given you’re working with a bug doctor. I wish there was some place at her camp to wash your hands, but we can’t have everything, can we. 4/10
ICE: The strangely unsupervised and unquestioned use of firearms by Ollie is conce
(that’s all I had written for ICE in the Google Doc I found. I’m laughing because honestly I think it sums it up pretty well so I’m just gonna leave it. I don’t know why that was the only one left incomplete)
CRY: There’s pretty much no employees in this game, since Renee is independently contracted and everyone else seems to be their own boss. Even if Lamont has a couple of employees that place doesn’t seem like it screams safety hazard, even though the sink is kinda gross. 0/10
HAU: Also no employees but maybe Donal has some sort of agreement where he sells his soul to be able to wank off around the Good People on a weekly basis. Giant chunks missing from a building aren’t great, but that sheep shearer seems to have some pretty good guards and safeties on it. The bar is just a bar. 4/10
RAN: Yet again no real employees. Maybe the monkeys work for each other? I would say their conditions are safe for monkeys, but I don’t know how they get up to the top of that cliff and communicate to those at the top to stop chucking rocks for a second for the next shift to climb up and swap out. 2/10
WAC: Paige seems to have a pretty sweet set up even though her hours are wonky and she has to be wandering around the building at godforsaken hours to catch other people wandering around the building at godforsaken hours. It’s not great that the training for the snack shop it’s just a three-ring binder but it also isn’t like there’s crazy tools involved. 2/10
TOT: The volume of electronic equipment Nancy is asked to fix with no prior training is pretty dangerous, especially when she’s asked to fix an actual literal electrical socket. We know Scott was sending people out into storms they weren’t supposed to be in so I’d say even in the storm chasing industry this team was not following generally accepting procedures. 8/10
SAW: Given that someone literally died by slipping and falling accidentally (allegedly) while cleaning the baths I’d say there’s definitely some unsafe protocols at the Ryokan. Some more railings around the garden would probably be ideal, as would maybe at least a sign by that fire in the middle of the lobby. 7/10
CAP: I don’t know how to classify the tunnels and the forest because I think Nancy is warned to not go into them whatsoever and just disregards that guidance, so I’m not sure the castle as an employer is responsible. The only person really put at risk is Lukas and he’s not an employee so OSHA wouldn’t give a fuck. 3/10
ASH: Again, a lot of people who are their own employers. Also just like a not super dangerous game in general? It’s just a town and there was an arson but that doesn’t have to do with the working conditions, but everything else seems to be up to par for the 21st century. 0/10
TMB: Idk why the fuck the scaffolding collapsed but maybe we should investigate that. Also random cobras? And sand storms? And Egyptian death traps? Fortunately this game takes place outside of the US so OSHA doesn’t have to worry about this(yes I’m being arbitrary with which games I don’t care about because of their non-US location), plus I assume most were independently contracted anyway. ???/10
DED: I mean Nancy wasn’t supposed to go into the lab and start sticking her hands in all those chemicals. Like all things considered it seems like the people authorized to access the dangerous things generally have adequate training to do so. Yeah, a dude got murdered using that equipment, but maybe if they just included a safety or required turning on the coil to be a two person job that could’ve been prevented. 2/10
GTH: The Thornton business really did have its own Triangle Fire so that’s basically the gold standard for “holy shit we need government oversight here.” I don’t really know where the employees are supposed to have been working but since everyone seems to have seen spooky things on the island I’ll assume everyone was within reach of the carbon monoxide, which is an obvious hazard. 10/10
SPY: To the degree that Nancy did work for a terrorist organization she was independently contracted, as probably everyone else was. I don’t really know how OSHA works in terms of national security related government jobs where the idea is you know you might die. But given that this whole game was about a “non lethal” threat I guess it isn’t -that- bad. But getting crushed by the trash thing was probably not ideal. 4/10
MED: I have no idea what the employment situation is where ONE GUY can just “take over” the ENTIRE crew and the entire show??? If this wasn’t a children’s PC game this would be some Morning Show kind of story about how Sonny abused that power. But it’s not. And this game makes no sense. But, I would send OSHA in to figure out what the fuck the plot of this game was. 10/10
LIE: Literally has a set with actual lava and actual handcuffs and actual puzzles you have to solve to get off of the set??? 100/10 call the police too
SEA: Really not sure who’s all working for who here (like I think we’re working for Dagny AND Magnus technically since they’re in a partnership and Dagny hired us) but I can’t remember anything much more dangerous than general sea-faring hazards and if we were Nancy we probably would’ve had adequate education or training to take care of ourselves. 3/10
MID: I don’t know why a passageway in the cemetery leads to the courthouse bathroom, but that aside most things seem to meet similar standards to ASH. The ergot poisoning is weird but doesn’t seem to be tied to a specific employer. 1/10

Legends at a party HC's?
Oooooh okay. For context this is like, general house party, there are alcohol and maybe some drugs idk. Last time I was at a party I got drunk and walked into a friend of a friend’s house barefoot to piss off his mom. Anyway!
Bloodhound: They’re vibing in the corner. They may not want to participate in much of the socializing except for a few people they know, but they do enjoy the energy that comes from being in a nice crowd; besides, they love to people watch and catch all the gossip. They are also getting progressively drunker throughout the night and without having moved a single inch will probably be more trashed than anyone else, though you’d never know.
Gibraltar: Grill/food master. If he’s hosting no one goes hungry or thirsty. Not hosting he’s the beer pong master and can totally bring the wallflowers into the open comfortably. Doesn’t even need a beer in him to leap into the pool off the roof.
Lifeline: She knows how to party hard; hard drinking and maybe some marijuana if she’s already messed up, but she hasn’t been like that since a couple years before she left Psamthe. She does like to drink, but usually she takes the time to actually relax and talk with people. Will spend all night playing card or board games and periodically runs around to make sure no drunk is stuck in a compromising position. If Octane is around, they’re yelling at each other over Crash Team Racing because they get into a big fight over who gets to play Luigi if they play Mario Kart.
Pathfinder: He likes to be helpful and pass around drinks! Actually a decent barman if Mirage programs the recipes right. Otherwise is kind of like the kid or the dog wandering around the party; people talk to him sometimes, keep their drinks or food out of disaster zone, and generally find him entertaining. Occasionally performs “move drunk person to more suitable area” duty.
Wraith: Like Bloodhound, but without as much drinking, nurses 3 appletinis through the whole night. More likely to watch people play video games than anything else. Will play solitare on her own but will readily join Cards Against Humanity and really enjoys listening to other people’s stories. Much livelier at smaller gatherings.
Bangalore: Knows how to party. Got her first working fake ID when she was 16 and has been going strong since. Doesn’t go as hard as she used to but will drink a lot and is honestly a riot to be around, very jovial though also combative. Spends most of her time chatting in circles of people and thinking up weird drinking challenges and is a great drunk chef. Overall a bit of a bro. Typically wakes up somewhere strange. Queen of kegstands.
Caustic: Keeps to the dark corners, rarely engages in conversation and is rarely engaged. Is actually courteous and polite per social convention. Smokes cigarettes on the porch and makes tiny sandwiches with the dinner rolls to eat with the dog whenever it wanders by. If there’s a cat, he will spend the whole time petting it. Leaves early.
Mirage: Per his modus operandi, is the life of the party if he can help it. Can get a little obnoxious sometimes, but mostly mixes really good drinks and makes jokes that aren’t as funny as the stuff he says when having a normal conversation. Is actually pretty chill if he doesn’t feel like he needs to entertain, usually doesn’t get too drunk and is the go-to guy to dissolve any disputes, which he’s surprisingly good at, but given he owns and runs a bar it really isn’t that surprising.
Octane: Jumps off the roof into the pool, takes a shot whenever someone mentions their ex, gets a bunch of knuckleheads together to see who can take the biggest bong rip then immediately stims to counteract most of the effects. Starts a game of truth or dare and comes up with the most creative dares and some unexpected truths that cause some genuine conversation. Will challenge anyone to a video game battle. Will not remember the night more than likely, but will remember it was awesome.
Wattson: Doesn’t drink but does have more soda than she’d usually allow herself. Brings headphones to block out noise or listen to her own tunes if things get too loud. Mostly makes rounds at the food table and will probably end up with the chillest group of folks that are there talking, gaming, or doodling. Probably DD if she came with friends.
Crypto: Drinks little, talks little, except when he’s gaming and talking shit during gaming. Probably got dragged there by someone else. Stashes food in his pockets at the end of the night. Mostly leans against the wall looking like the angsty cover for a punk band in 2005. Will think about flirting with someone but will chicken out and convince himself he can’t be bothered with all his bullshit. Has gotten in a shouting match over Uno because he forgets drunk people are stupid.
Revenant: If he is at a party he is after someone. Might eviscerate the dog. Will definitely break all the liquor because he’s a bastard.
Loba: Socialite, will get buzzed but mostly carries around a glass of wine and be a little too dressed up for the occasion. Prepared to deal with a drunk asshole that thinks she owes them something. Loves to dance and will probably be the one to start up a dance floor if no one else has. Flirts a lot, more than usual. Will always win Cards Against Humanity. Tries to keep track of who should really go home and organizes willing DD’s. Pays for pizza if it is ordered.
Rampart: Fun, happy-go-lucky party gal who wants to control the tunes and will dance, despite the fact she cannot, in any universe, actually dance. Somehow, that makes it better, and she’s a lot like Gibraltar in that she can move from group to group and really bring people out of their shells. Pure wild energy, but unlike Octane she has a stopping point. If she gets too drunk she gets very philosophical and will not remember anything she said the next morning, though it will have changed the course of at least someone’s life. Mixes a little bit of every alcohol together to see what it tastes like.
Horizon: If she’s not drinking she’s being the mom, making sure no one is too trashed, people are having fun, and stops arguments by directing people to do other stuff away from each other. If she’s drinking? She’s wild, but the enigmatic, charming wild that spouts off rousing speeches and sings old folk songs; also very silly and a little touchy-feely. You will be hugged. Is still hard to piss off, but if you actually manage to do it, run. Will fall asleep in a little ball behind a potted plant, and the dog will be cuddling with her.
Fuse: Laughing, rowdy drunk lad that wants to make sure everyone is having fun whether he is hosting or not. Will drink all of the beer. King of kegstands. Everyone’s fun drunk dad or uncle. Really not much too it; somehow doesn’t have a hangover.
Valkyrie: Brings the most expensive liquor. Generally a good all-arounder at a party, will do a little bit of everything. Get’s a little too rowdy sometimes but has a very high alcohol tolerance so it’s kind of hard to get her to that point. Will make fun of lightweights but respects people who don’t want to drink. Will find the greasiest restaurant possible after the party and take whatever people will come with her there to eat way too much.
Seer: Very fun and gracious as a guest or host. Avoids drinking because he knows that if he does, and especially if he does while Octane is there, he will go full dumbass mode and someone will break a limb. Will try to play someone at a videogame and will be so naturally bad at it that eventually he’ll get a win out of pity and leave afterward so he’s done on a good point. Best dancer there.
Ash: Won’t show up.

Hm, honestly, I don’t think it’s fair to claim I ignored everything you wrote. Believe it or not - I am trying to find a middle ground here, since I remember you as someone who was once able to have a debate without using as-hominem attacks. If you don’t want to talk, that’s ok. You can always block me, too. I try not to take that personal.
I just came across this other post where an anon asked something about sylvie or Sylki fans and how they describe Loki. Woulddieforloki said there it might sometimes be a defense reaction. They have other reasons, too, but my point is the defense. I feel like this could be very likely be an example of that.
I believe you that you had the part in mind that Loki wanted to protect Asgard! My initial post however asked specifically if people see Loki ruining the coronation “only” for his jealousy. Because that was never mentioned, neither in the anonymous post, nor in your reply. So, a simple “no” or perhaps even “no, but honestly, the jealousy was clearly the main motivation! Like 98% at least. Perhaps there was 0.1% thinking of Asgard and 1.9% mischief craving involved” would have answered that, because - even if you had it in mind - it was not mentioned.
Regarding the harm: invasion of privacy is considered a harm here. If you break into a house it’s a crime even if you don’t break or take anything. And even if the morality of the law can be argued most countries value humans over animals. So, to be clear: I don’t think it’s a crime to report animal abuse even if you only knew it because you broke a law yourself. Imo, in this scenario both should be prosecuted. But other opinions are just as valid. That’s the beauty of discussion ethics. It has many sides.
I disagree though on the heroes not endangering innocents. In a CACW (I think. But sometimes I mix up CW and WS) Steve, Wanda and a few others attack a hydra group at a time when the area is full of people. In fact, Wanda throwing the bomb at a part of the house where innocents die is the major point she gets accused of in the movie. There are other movies showing the same thing. AoU and IW come to mind. Steve even refused to destroy an infinity stone despite vision wanting to do it, and it might have prevented the snap. Technically, it probably would not have, but from the heroes perspective that would have been a likely way to protect innocents. But Steve decided against it. But that’s human. Just, it’s natural a character can’t know what the future will bring. Loki might have thought the Jotun-plan was more fail-safe than your scenarios. We can’t know. (Btw, I never used anti-hero or anti-villain. I think those are boxes we put characters into, but I prefer discussing them all based upon the same norms.)
I don’t agree with you that the stairs led directly to the shield room. As I remember the shield generator is part of the palace. Thor has to fly from the palace to the prison, so the Cursed must have walked quite a bit to reach it. And neither did Loki know about the incoming air attack, so why give him so specific hints? The biggest thing I can imagine is that the guards prefer one of the stairs, so Loki’s advise allowed the cursed to circumvent the first line of fighting. Which, given that the fight was already going when Loki said so, and both stairs on full display, is a bit like saying “I recommend punching the guys in the guard uniforms”. So, yeah, petty, but unlikely he had any idea to what disaster it would lead. I can believe Loki intentionally hurting (but not killing) Thor or Odin, but for me he is definitely not a character that would aid in the murder of his mother. But, as I said, that’s just how I see him. I know a lot of people on Reddit do expect him to do that, and who am I to forbid other headcanons. Like you, I don’t think trauma would justify evil actions or could hail such actions. So, if I would think him capable of matricide, I could not be a fan of him.
And well, you are of course right that sending hate is not a mature or even ok reaction to disappointment. Civil discussions are one thing, If people are open for them, but shitstorms are abuse. But claiming things about the other part of the fandom is not right, too. And honestly, every time I see a post “series antis only want Loki to do evil things” or “they think looking good means you can do no evil” or “they only wanted a vindication arc” I feel so tired because those are not even our real points, but strawmen arguments, fabricated to make the fans of OG Loki the enemy.
It’s funny that, before Sylvie was even properly introduced in the show, she was set up as a Loki variant - you know, Loki, the guy who was a villain of three movies - and somehow people think it’s upsetting that she turns out to have villainous qualities. “Why did she have to kill her fellow variants when she could have tried to free them and join them in a revolution against the TVA?”, I don’t know Becky, why did Loki have to try and commit genocide against his fellow jotunns when he found out he was their stolen prince, instead of joining them against Odin’s imperialism? Why Loki taking out his self esteem issues on a failed attempt to conquer a planet full of innocent people who did nothing to him make him a complex and tormented villain, but Sylvie killing officers who were actively trying to harm her make her a heartless bitch?
It’s literally a theme point that Loki feels connected to Sylvie because her lust for vengeance at all costs reminds him of himself in his villain days (“I’ve been where you are”), but people somehow insist that her anger and cruelty are meant to be seen as positive or heroic, or justified, when the narrative is clearly highlighting them as moral flaws that are weighting her down and that she must put behind her. Not to mention that her arc is not done yet, and we already see the regret creeping onto her when she weeps on the floor after killing He Who Remains.
Loki stans will write walls on meta on how even smallest things about his life, like a brief passage of Heimdall being casually rude to him, or how Volstagg being casually dismissive of him, of even Sif’s brief side eye to him, equals to terrible abuse that explains how he became the bitter villain that he’s turned into. But Sylvie having her reality erased as a child because the equivalent to God Himself has deemed that her very existence was crime against Creation, which forced her to live on the run jumping from one mass death event after the other, seeing everyone she’s ever known being fated to die soon, while she’s hunted down like a dog, is something she should just get over. And that would totally not explain how she became so hardened and angry. Right.
Bottom line: moral ambiguity is for male characters only, women are not allowed to have moral flaws to grow out of, and if Sylvie has a male variant played by Hiddles himself her haters would be fawning over him as their new wobbie villain.
#fandom wank#fandom split#MCU loki#thank you for the talk#and best of luck with the series#I’m glad you get new content and things making you happy#right now I don’t think of the Loki fandom as a home anymore#so discussing with me is probably just a waste of your time anyway#sorry for bothering you

I think that it's pretty funny. When comparing the Diamond and Pearl clans, I would not blame anyone for immediately being drawn towards the Diamond Clan and thinking them the better between the two. They're nicer, have the better outfits, I've got to admit that Dialga is cooler than Palkia, they give you all the best Ride Pokemon, are a lot more trusting of you, are definitely the more attractive clan, and when going through them point by point, area by area... Yeah, the Diamond Clan just wins out most of the time.
While Lian isn't by any means a bad character... He is a kid and Mai is just incredibly nice (and cute). Calaba's character arc of learning to trust people is certainly not a bad one and plays well into Arezu's arc of learning to depend on others but just... Arezu cuts your hair. Now that's just not a fair comparison! (Also holy shit her thighs... Those thighs... I pray to Arceus above that she's an adult... Because those thighs!) Palina has a more interesting story going on with her and the Growlithes in her care but just... Iscan is the goodest boy, alright!? Iscan's just soft! He may scare easy, but he is the very definition of bravery! It's a good contrast and makes for a good character! Admittedly, Ingo beats Melli out hands down, but that wasn't a fair fight to begin with. And Gaeric and Sabi... Ehhhh... I don't dislike either of them... Though Gaeric's distrust of me after I learned that the Pearl Clan had already adopted Ingo rubs me the wrong way, and I've always had a soft spot for Cheryl. But honestly it could go either way. And for Adaman and Irida... Both may be fashion disasters, but at least Adaman makes for an aesthetically pleasing fashion disaster! He's got drip while I look at Irida with just... All the side-eye...
Kleavor is cool and all, but Wyrdeer is just one of the best baseline Ride Pokemon you get in the game (I use it all the time to navigate Space-Time Distortions) and therefore beats it out hands down. I like Ursaluna a lot for obvious ground bias reasons... But it's not a very good Ride Pokemon (sniffing is fun and all, but alls I want is mud balls and Old Verses otherwise it's a completely ignorable mechanic, and there's really no reason to use it for land travel over Wyrdeer) and I really quite like Hisuian Lilligant's design and aesthetic. Hisuian Arcanine is cool and all... But just like... COME ON! Basculegion is just so neat, you know!? Also giving you the ability to traverse water and keeping you from just drowning for daring to touch water? Invaluable. Sneasler is cooler than Hisuian Electrode, but I swear that she's trying to kill me. She may win out in this battle, but she isn't exactly the best Ride Pokemon out there. And Braviary vs Avalugg... Braviary allows you to fly. Don't think that I need to say more than that.
What does the Pearl Clan even have going for it? Hot springs? Well, they live in an absolutely terrible climate anyway, so that's not much of a plus! When it comes to leveling the score between the two, the biggest thing that the Pearl Clan has going for it is Ingo. Which I'll admit does A LOT to even the score, but that's not a whole lot! If you were to join one, which one would you go with?
And yet, as more time passes, the Pearl Clan continues to grow on me... Because the dynamics between Pearl Clan members have SO much more potential than the members of the Diamond Clan! The Diamond Clan may mostly be young and attractive, but given that most of the members of the Pearl Clan are middle-aged... SO much more disaster family potential! There are a lot of strong personalities in the Pearl Clan that could clash in different ways. And the fact that the one teenager/young adult is left in charge? Hilarious. The more time that passes, the more I come to appreciate the Pearl Clan. I did not expect this, but here we are!

HOMES OF THE RFA (+V AND SAERAN) HEADCANONS
alright we’ve got zen’s bachelor pad first - generally zen tends to be a pretty minimalist guy with his house. part of it is honestly because he couldn’t really afford to completely deck out his house for a while, and now he’s just grown used to the look of it so he really likes having spaces that are a little less cluttered. the one exception to this, unfortunately, is his kitchen. he doesn’t use his kitchen often, and as a result, he often forgets to do his dishes until the end of the week. monday? that shit is spotless. his kitchen is cleaner than anything has ever been and the dishes are neatly put away. do not even look at that kitchen on wednesday. it’s become a disaster zone and he’s embarrassed. but once the mc starts to come by more, i think he ends up cooking for himself a lot more because he starts to realize that he actually really enjoys it. he loves being healthy, and now that he has the motivation to cook for himself (and her, of course), he starts to realize how much he likes control over what he eats. so now his kitchen is a lot cleaner bc it just has to be.
two different places for yoosung !! - the one on the left is yoosung’s dorm :) it’s actually really cool in there. he spends a lot of time in that little room, so he decides to invest a little bit and make sure that he’s happy with the place he lives. he likes alternative lighting (mainly because it helps his eyes a bit when he’s playing lolol) but also because overhead lights can be a little harsh for him, especially after a long day of school. when the mc’s there, he always makes sure that the lights are just right. it’s very common for both of them to fall asleep while the LEDS are still on, a movie playing on the projector he bought a while back. when he moves out of college, though, his house is a bit of a different story. he still keeps some LEDS and neon signs in a little gamer/office space, and for the most part he’s actually pretty neat, but his house can definitely get messy. surprisingly enough, the mattress on the floor is not for him. in fact, it’s for zen. he comes over so often that yoosung ends up setting up a little mattress for him so that he can stay over whenever he has drinks with him. the mess honestly isn’t terrible though, and he and the mc are both good about making it an organized disaster.
jaehee’s cozy little apartment - rather than art posters, jaehee actually has a lot of framed broadway and other musical posters on her walls. she branches out a bit from zen’s musicals over time, and she actually really loves decorating her home with something that she loves so much. she likes her small apartment, and it means that she and the mc are never really that far away from each other. she places her hand on the mc’s back whenever she squeezes past her in the kitchen, and when they have their coffee in the morning she can lean over and grab her hand during conversation. she always has candles lit, and she prefers really earthy and woody scents. tobacco is a common scent, but as is sandalwood. even with the candles, their apartment constantly smells like fresh coffee beans and sourdough bread. it is a very rare day if there isn’t dough rising in the window somewhere, and even rarer if there isn’t a baked loaf hidden away in the kitchen.
two homes for jumin as well !! - the first picture is of his penthouse when the mc moves in with him. she adds little throw pillows, some rugs, and some plants to his stupid penthouse and makes it feel much more like a home. he gets rid of that stupid circular bed the second he realizes that she feels a little cramped in it and upgrades to a beautiful king sized mattress. there’s about a million and one windows, and that’s actually something he really loves about the penthouse. so it’s really no surprise when he and the mc move a bit out of the city and they keep the big windows and the big open spaces, but make it feel like something that’s meant to be lived in. jumin discovers his love of wood and tall bookshelves with a mix of occult novels and old classics, and the mc convinces him to add a little more color into his interior. their new house has a big garden out back so he can still visit the roses (though they aren’t the same ones from his old rooftop garden, but he’d argue that he planted them with her, so they’re so much better). they built the house themselves so it’s perfect for them, and elizabeth the third has her own little space for playing.
hmmmm. saeyoung choi’s new home <3 - saeyoung eventually leaves the bunker. it’s a hard move, and it’s definitely not one he takes lightly (he’s used to moving, but not away from a place with so many good memories). but, he builds this new home from the ground up with the mc. he makes the plans and hires architects to help him, and he starts to fall in love with this new home even while it’s still a blueprint. he never gives up his complicated security system (the arabic dictionary really starts to feel heavy sometimes), but he does start to realize how much he loves windows. he still ends up getting them reinforced, but he loves the natural light and he actually really likes being able to see outside so easily. it’s a stupid thing, but sometimes the mc will catch him sitting on their couch and just looking out at the secluded little forest they ended up moving to, and he seems really happy. similar to yoosung, saeyoung cannot stand overhead lighting. at first, his solution was to just have no lighting at all, but one day he came into his office and there were these little lamps everywhere and they actually made his office feel a lot less daunting. ever since then, he’s started using lamps more often than the lights installed into his ceiling. he also says they help to reduce any sensory issues he might have from the light, which also means a lot less headaches for him. he starts to really love thunderstorms while he lives there, and so he and the mc always curl up whenever it starts to rain and they sit on the couch, watching as lightning cracks across the sky and counting the seconds until the thunder together. whenever it rains, saeyoung knows he can take a break from everything for a while.
jihyun kim’s beautiful little apartment - his apartment is tiny except for his studio. similarly to jaehee, he likes the small spaces because one, he loves how cozy is feels, but two, because it means he can reach out to his mc a lot more often. his studio, however, is the biggest and brightest space imaginable. all of his apartment is big on natural light, but he loves having a huge window in his studio because it means he’s able to see actual life even when he’s wrapped up in his work. it’s also big enough that the mc can sit in and watch him work without ever feeling like she’s in the way, which he absolutely loves. it’s really common for her to be sitting on one of his extra stools, flipping through some of the drawing drafts he’s made with delicate fingers. he’ll turn then, half-dried paint on his fingertips and go to kiss her. she’ll laugh when she feels the coolness of the wet paint on her cheek, and he’ll feel terrible about it, but there’s not many worries that can be had when you’re standing in the shine of the afternoon sun, surrounded by art that you’re proud of and standing in front of the girl who brought you back to artistry. as far as the rest of his apartment goes, jihyun is very particular about color. he likes things to look nice and he appreciates things to be very calming in nature. the green kitchen is perfect for him because of this, and everything is always spotless. the only part of his home that’s ever a mess is his studio, but he knows where everything is.
and lastly we have saeran’s little getaway :) - of course, saeran stays close to saeyoung. they both end up moving to a really nice, secluded area where they feel safe. even after the issue with their father has been resolved, both of them feel safer if they’re away from the public. this actually ends up being great for saeran though, because it means that he has access to so many plants. so many. he can walk though his pretty summer garden outside to get to his greenhouse, and he loves being able to tend to all of the flowers there. it really is something that’s calming for him. plus, whenever he walks outside he can see saeyoung’s house and he can be reminded that he’s only a few steps away, so he’d make the trip often even without the flowers. his house is pretty small, but he can’t imagine wanting anything too big. it always smells really fresh in his house, like clean linens and citrus, but not the artificial kind. he just always has oranges somewhere in his house so fresh citrus is always there in the kitchen. he and the mc enjoy a really quiet life together in their house, and it’s honestly at this point that he feels the happiest. he likes being able to wake up in the morning and sit at their kitchen island together, a homemade breakfast in front of them and her head leaning on his shoulder.

||. decided not to delete my 3am post for the sake of the v nice commentary/discussions it’s brought (ur v sweet to humour me u know who u are) but one last couple of notes on sonic + romance / more vulnerable relationships:
01 is sonic puts his roots down in people. (mostly knuckles, amy and tails in particular in that descending order), and while he doesn’t take them for granted in any other capacity i do think that’s the one area that he does. not purposefully! but while i do think he acknowledges that he has a sort of ... inner compass to get back to where they live, i don’t think it’s quite hit him as hard as it ought that if he HAD to say somewhere is home... it’s them. like fully and truly, them. tails might be the exception to this bc he’d Wait for that sucker and he does NOT say or do that lightly but yknow. saying it and fully realizing it and what that means is ... not the same thing. and as far as Deep Relationships Goes: that turning point for him would either be him REALIZING that you’re what he considers ‘home’ to be like, or otherwise... you growing into that inner circle of his entire 3 “Home People” and him going “ohhhhhhh”
02 being: when it comes to romance in particular... one of the biggest reasons amy in particular is so interesting to me is that when she’s being over-the-top? he pushes her away, because she’s encroaching on his freedom (or it feels like it), and that - with anyone - sets him off. (combine that with a lack of experience with Crushes or whatever, and then the classic “dumb boys will be dumb and don’t get the hint” and you have a disaster.) but when she’s respecting his space, letting him come and go, working alongside him to get stuff done, and challenging him in a way that makes him grow that’s really where he fully sees her shine the most. it’s where he lets his opinion of her change, just a little bit, all the time. he’s got so much respect for the mad lass. but ultimately, when she’s just being herself, and she’s STILL pushing that she’s here for HIM and only him... i think he just. doesn’t know how to deal with that. there’s this post that says it perfectly and i’ll probably find and reblog it some other time, but in short: sonic isn’t used to people caring about him nearly as genuinely and honestly and bluntly as amy does. she’s loud and proud about it. she doesn’t back down from it (as far as he’s aware). especially not when it matters ( looks @ sonic unleashed in particular) there’s so much genuine compassion there and he just... has no idea what to do with that. and i feel amy or not... that’s also a Big Key in a deeper relationship with sonic too. because he does care for people. deeply so. and that compassion being reciprocated for himself tenfold in a way he can’t argue with or deflect - especially when it MATTERS - would leave him speechless. (we could talk about how when he gets speechless his first instinct is to run away and sort it out on his own and THEN maybe come back to it if it’s relevant later but different topic, different post, different day)
#⸨ * OOC ⸩ — he was never actually called a rodent in the games but yknow .#⸨ * HC ⸩ — i’m gonna reach for the stars although they look pretty far .#(idk if any of this is coherent i just... i just Think)#(i open up my arms to all the amys and anyone else who would like to fecc around w this concept)#(let him have friends let him grow his family thank you much)#long post

When people ask why states without tegus are looking to ban them? This. This is why. They are unstoppable. They’re incredibly adaptable. In addition to being able to survive winter conditions almost a thousand miles north of their northernmost invasive range, they can also elevate their body temperatures to deal with cooler non-winter conditions. This defies what we know about pretty much every other lizard, and they can just... do it. Because they’re amazing.
But that amazingness comes with a price. Here in the US, we’ve finally woken up to the reality that this is an invasive species with potential to really spread, and several state governments are scrambling to ensure that it doesn’t happen. Most legislation intends to just ban keeping the animals in states where they could establish or already are established, but the problem is that much of this current/future legislation regarding tegus is really insufficient. It either doesn’t do enough or it does way too much and either way doesn’t actually do anything meaningful to prevent the spread of this invasive species. But people thinking they have some kind of constitutional right to keep as many tegus as they want isn’t helping. If I have to see one more person spouting anti-gun control rhetoric about a lizard, so help me god I will scream. I will.
Honestly though, I think that the state bans are only going to continue. I’m not foolish enough to think that any of the state governments are doing this out of a pure concern for the states’ biodiversity. Aside from what tegus can and will do to endangered species (eat them. they will eat them.), there is a serious bottom line economic consequence to their spread. There’s plenty of evidence that these guys are a serious threat to agriculture, and the exotic pet industry isn’t comparatively big enough for any government to take seriously if the farmers are complaining. Which they will. You know what they call tegus in Venezuela? El lobo pollero, the chicken wolf. They are just that good at sneaking into chicken coops and going for the eggs. They cooperate to do this. And at the end of the day, exotic pet owners’ privileges will be sacrificed for economic protection for US agricultural interests, because that’s how the economy works.
Which is a shame because I do think there is a viable compromise. Perhaps something like this could actually work: 1: Establish FDA licensing for tegu breeders, the same as you have to do if you breed several other exotic species. Licensing would need to include enforceable containment policies and state inspections. 2: Mandate PIT tagging or microchipping for pet tegu owners and enforce legal penalties if there are escapes. This could range from a fine to being disallowed to own a tegu. 3: Figure out a more practical way to do culls of the invasive populations. (This is going to be very hard in the Everglades due to the impassibility of much of the area, but in places with sparser vegetation, tracker dogs trained on the eggs/nests could probably help a great deal with this.) 4: Stop mass imports. The imports are a huge problem. I think they’re actually a much bigger problem than the breeders for two reasons. First, the sheer numbers of imports is a problem. Between 2000 and 2010, more than 79,000 tegus were imported to the US. That’s a lot. We already know that the first and largest invasive tegu population can be traced back to a single importer. We already know that the invasive pythons can be traced back to an importers’ warehouse that was damaged in a hurricane. Limit the market to breeders who are willing to go a step beyond for good containment, and you limit the number of animals being produced. This also limits the number of people who can buy them. If cheap imported reptiles aren’t readily available, you’ll have fewer people impulsively buying them and then releasing them when they get too big or too much trouble. Ban the imports and you solve part of the problem. Now, granted, pet owners releasing their animals isn’t really a huge issue. Most released pets die pretty quickly. But even though it’s not the biggest part of the issue, it is still an issue.
Ideally, tegu owners would be educated enough to buy only from good breeders with good biosecurity practices, take one out of the swamp, or take in a rescue. Ideally, tegu breeders would be more sensible about protecting their businesses by complying with state FWS standards and by taking a more proactive approach to containment. Tegus are burrowers and escape artists, and if tegu breeders who do outside housing would keep that in mind more seriously, there ARE things they could do to actually prevent escapes on their end- things like you do for wild canids. It might be more difficult to sink a fence a few feet or lay a concrete pad, but is it worth it to protect your ability to breed and keep a species you love?
At the end of the day, a lot of exotic animal laws in the US don’t make a lot of sense. They often come too late to actually prevent a tragedy or ecological disaster, and they rarely do enough to prohibit actual irresponsible behavior. We have hard scientific data that demonstrates that tegus really could become invasive throughout much of the southeast US, and with climate change pushing tropical and subtropical climatological zones north, their potential range is only going to get larger.

Do you still have faith in the fourth meguca movie?
I honestly have a lot of mixed feelings about the idea of the 4th movie, in a lot of different directions.
On one hand, do I have faith the movie will exist? Yes and no, I think the reasons its been put on hold are perfectly valid and frankly if after a decade Anno finally put out 3+1, I think that Orubuchi focusing for a while on other anime isn't necessarily a sign that it'll never come out. They very clearly want this thing to happen and idk as there's some kind of production problems in the way or anything, but honestly it might just be taking a while. I mean, think about how long it took for Mob season 3 to come out after 2, even how long it took after the official production announcement. Maybe they're keeping quiet cause there isn't much to say, or maybe it's still in production hell. I'm generally hopeful tho.
The other part of this is, am I hopeful this movie will be what I want to be? And that kinda gets into a messy spot because I have to ask, what is this movie likely to be about, what do I want it to be about, and do my feelings align with Madoka Magica as a whole? We already know that Walpurgisnacht is in the title and that the big witch made some small appearances in the 4th film announcement, so we can presume it'll be involved in the plot somehow. My concern about this plot point is that I feel like Walpy doesn't need to be in the plot? Like sure, Walpurgisnacht is an interesting and mysterious plot device in the original show, this ominous force that's alluded to multiple times before we see it properly, something so destructive that it took many time loops of layered potential and even Madoka becoming Godlike and succumbing into despair and becoming an even more powerful witch to beat in previous timelines. But I feel like all Walpurgisnacht represents is that, a plot device. We can dig into how it was formed all we want, but Walpurgisnacht is only really a villain as much as a natural disaster in a thriller movie is. I don't think it needs to be personified because Homura and Madoka are the central focus of the character dynamics, especially now that Homura is a demon. Homura may resemble Walpurgisnacht as Homulilly, something very intentional, but I've never really subscribed to the theory that she becomes Walpy because I think the parallel more serves to represent Homura's mindset, which is super practical. Being a magical girl is a duty, not a blessingz so she has a schoolgirl uniform on. Witches are nothing but obstacles, so her concept of a witch is the biggest and most dangerous one she knows of. In many ways her becoming a witch is the first time I think she considers what the monsters she's been fighting really feel, which is a fascinating character shift for her and a neat insight onto what witches are thinking. But although Walpurgisnacht and Homulilly's missions do have parallels, I feel like they're distinct enough to be separated.
We also have to ask, what do I want to see and does it align with what's likely? Personally I think the ideal movie 4 for Madoka is something that takes a lot from the latter half of End of Evangelion, and perhaps 25 and 26 as well. I think there's plenty of reason for there to be extensive sequences of Madoka and Homura talking things out and covering how they feel about each other, why, and what to do next. In a lot of ways I feel like it would be a really cathartic ending to their story, them finally being able to just have a heart to heart after all the things in the plot that have kept them distant. I think another good reference point would be @pinkthread 's old ask blog, something that imo really takes hold of the more melancholic and raw parts of the story I would love to see more of. I have ideas in my head of Madoka and Homura talking in abstract space, maybe represented by old areas in the anime. Madoka has burns and scars from the imagery in Rebellion. Perhaps they duel on a field of white flowers, and blood that's shed turns them into spider lilies. It's the emptiness and melancholy that I want to see from Madoka. Something like a dream. But I don't know if that's what's going to come out of it, or even if it's what should come out of it. Madoka plays with some similar themes to Eva, and even some similar executions, but they're pretty distinct. I don't know if my interpretation is in line with what is or should happen in the 4th film. Maybe it'll be more punchy and full of action, with heavy moments and deaths like in the original. Who knows. I can't help but feel like I'm on to something tonally, though, even if my vision isn't going to be realized.
So to sum things up, I have a lot of mixed feelings but I'm generally cautiously hopeful the movie 4 will be made at least sometime and that it'll deliver on some of the things I'm hoping for.
