Today we worked on tomatoes and jelly. Yes, I knew you'd be shocked. I ended up with four quarts of tomato sauce, nine pints of mango jelly, three pints of orange jelly, and there's another half bushel of tomatoes in the crock pot. The house smells of tomato, mango, orange and bacon. It's an odd combination to be sure. Oh and burnt sugar because I let the last batch of jelly boil over. Apparently I didn't have enough to do, but it just wouldn't be me if I didn't mess up from time to time. We made and devoured the first tomato and bacon sandwiches of the year though so that helped. They were absolutely delicious and I kinda want another one. I probably should be working on carrots but I'm wiped out, I really need a nap but I also want a glass of wine. I'm too lazy to go get either of them though. I think tomorrow might need to be a day of rest and recovery. I need a day to clean and get set up for the next round of canning. Oh and there are yet more cucumbers from the garden, this is getting silly now.
