Garden update July 21, 2024

Time for a garden update:) I managed to get out before it was over 95*f lol

Cucumbers are doing mighty fine, there is a small carrot batch up towards the front

Top left, a sunflower, towards us. Was supposed to be beans. Unknown pest and sun done em in.

Top right. Squash, only 1 fruit sp far. I am trying to I get seed from it. Towards us. Eggplant that needs a desperate trim.

Don't mind the mess of the next 2 photos. It's a work in slow progress.

Tomatoes. Peppers and was sunflowers

Look how beautiful and diverse they are 😍🤩

I think I'll be looking for some differnt colorful corn to try growing this upcoming year, hopefully theres plenty of pretty fresh eating corn type. I wouldn't say no to other kinds, though.

Like seriously, imagine rolling up to the family BBQ with speckled corn or pink corn or that little watermelon colored one there 🤩🤩🤩

Chick update

2 chicks this hatch out :)

Looks like possibly lavey×HeiHei (a lavender breed x road island red)

And one of the buff orpington x HeiHei

We buried the other eggs in one of the garden beds.

For those curious.... We did candle them, just to check out if the lid pop caused end of hatch problems or if they were fertilized at all.

Of the rest, 2 had no development. The other 2 had some development but did not make it to hatching. We aren't sure if this was failure to thrive (as can happen naturally) or hatchers inexperience.

The incubator is now being cleaned, sanitized and prepared for the next hatch out attempt. (I'm gonna try to see if I can get the blue/green eggs to hatch this time)

For now these two little ones are now in a grow out pen :)
