You mention this clothing website in the tags on something you reblog from me and I check it out and oh God I think I'm about to be very poor.
I'm guessing based on timing this is Holy Clothing? In which case, sorry not sorry and also you're welcome. (I literally just got the preorder mentioned in that post today and I'm wearing it as I type and I'm obsessed so not even remotely sorry.)
Some protips from someone who owns A Lot of their garments:
Wash their clothes separately or with extremely similar colors for the first few washes. IDK what dye they use (clearly something for natural fibers since most of their stuff is cotton or linen or bamboo rayon); their clothes don't fade but they do bleed, and it will stain other clothes if you're not careful. I own enough green clothes that I am okay with washing green garments from them with the rest of my clothes, and I still toss a color catcher in the wash just to be safe.
If it has ties or a belt, wash it in a lingerie bag/garment bag so it doesn't get tangled and/or shredded in the wash. Some ties may also benefit from adding aglets to them so they don't shred all to hell, but most of them have finished tabs on them so they don't unlace.
CHECK THE MEASUREMENTS FOR EACH GARMENT. I wear a Medium (M) for most of their garments, but if it's a vest or something else meant to be worn over another garment you may want to size up. For me, sizing up to L in the Torvi tunic was a mistake, but the size L Rogue cardi and Eowyn vest were perfect fits.
HolyClothing in general does a good job of paying their workers/artisans a living wage, and their prices and ordering times reflect that. I have had basically zero issues with quality in all the pieces I've ordered; in fact, I've had their Trinity Sleeveless vest for many many years and only now is a lower corner of embroidery coming loose, and that's something I can very easily fix.
Most of their item are very femme coded, but if you follow their Insta I know they are actively working with at least one artist on gender neutral and/or masc designs to expand their designs.
Happy shopping, and F in the chat to your wallet!

A collection of clothing I bought for the Renaissance Faire this year. The dresses and cincher are from HolyClothing (expensive and slow delivery but GREAT quality). 💕
First is the blue dress, it’s this link below in the limited polar night color. They have it listed in many other colors too though so check them out if you’re interested! I wore this to a costume party, hence the very tipsy first picture lol, and it was SO COMFY all night!

Next up is the red dress, also linked below, in the limited poppy red color. Again, they have more listings on their site for different colors, though I gotta say I love this red. The picture isn’t very good for this one unfortunately because my phone died in the middle of my try-on and I haven’t worn this anywhere yet. Lol

I also got a black waist cincher for the Faire this year. I exchanged it for a smaller size, but I probably should’ve kept the slightly too big size I originally got. The smaller size keeps rolling up in the back, because it’s a bit too small. There are no bones, just material. If you decide to get this piece I recommend going slightly too big instead of slightly too small. Still looks good though!

You can find all three of these pieces from HolyClothing and I absolutely recommend them!

i am thinking how much poorer, how much less colorful the world would be if art was only made by "professionals." if all the music, all the stories, all the sketches & paintings & craftwork of the world was created only by the small category of people able to make a decent living from their art. imagine if the only people allowed to create were the experts & the renowned & those aspiring to the top. what a grey world that would be. how much joy would be bleached away! i love you people who create for the sake of creating, i love you artists who do art for tiny audiences, i love you people who make things even just for one person, even just for themselves, even if no one's watching, thank you thank you thank you for decorating the world in which we all exist

ONCE UPON A TIME, THERE WAS A KNIGHT...
the visual inspiration for this was a combination of Frederic William Burton's Meeting on the Turret Stairs and also Bernardo Cavallino's The vision of St. Dominic receiving the Rosary from the Virgin
this was supposed to be just a one off illustration to get the thoughts out of my system, but then I started thinking about medieval politics and warfare and plagues and a castle and home as both a place of refuge, a prison, and a tomb, so perhaps they will end up as ex voto characters as well.
you may say, hey! that rosary looks like it has too many beads! it's a fifteen decade rosary, probably. dominicans are really into marian devotions. it works out.
also. spiral style stair cases. oh boy. it was that unexpectedly more difficult than I originally thought it would be to draw. the more I think about it, the less I understand them, even though I had a million photos of the stairs in front of me while I was drawing it.
⭐ I have a tip jar (ko-fi)!
