au where the po3 are possessed by the ancients (and hollyleaf is the 4th and a reincarnate of scourge)
more on the au:
The three Ancients have the same powers as their reincarnates, and will often possess them when they use their powers
Jay, Dove, and Lion are all polar opposites of their reincarnates
Lion's Roar struggles with responsibility his whole life, and projects his complicated feelings onto Lionblaze. However, Lionblaze is much more stubborn and volatile, and rebels against him by training in the Dark Forest, the only place he has full autonomy.
Dove's Wing is silly and unserious, and tries to convince Dovewing to take it easy and enjoy her life. Dovewing is incredibly anxious, even more because of learning about the prophecy at a young age, and has trouble heeding Dove's advice. Overall, they have the best relationship out of all four, and Dove's Wing genuinely wants the best for Dovewing, but Dovewing simply can't cope with the possession and her powers.
Jaystripe is the first to learn of the prophecy and his powers (which are switched w Dovewing) and comes to terms with it the fastest, but he's the least comfortable being possessed. Him and Jay's Wing are very similar in personality; but while Jay's Wing is willing to sacrifice his comfort for the greater good, Jaystripe can't help but be selfish and long for his normal life.
While the 3 are all end up different from the Ancients, Scourge serves as a warning as to what Hollyfeather will become; one she doesn't heed
In this AU, Scourge is a lot more complex of a character. After accidentally becoming the BloodClan leader, he notices how much the cats are suffering in the City. He offers a deal- join his Clan to gain comfort and security, in exchange for following his rules. At first, he convinces himself that his severe punishments and rigid orders are for the benefit of his cats. It isn't until he dies that he realizes he'd only thrown BloodClan into greater disarray by pursuing vengeance against Tigerstar.
When he reincarnates into Hollyfeather, he's desperate not to have her repeat his mistakes. Hollyfeather is a medic, and has strictly devoted her life to StarClan and the warrior code. Learning her parentage goes against all of her most deeply held values sends her into a spiral. She kills Ashfur, exiles herself to the tunnels, and eventually comes home to fill her place in the prophecy (stopping the DF and killing Tigerstar in a direct parallel of Scourge)
(Firestar still dies by the tree like he dies before tiger so tiger is like muhaha we've won and she steps out like "wow,,,,, now uve done it,,,, uve made me angry,,,")
The three still have their powers post-war but are no longer possessed (the whole arc would be about the Ancients realizing possessing them is Not Good so they eventually stop trying to take control)

ough. I was lowkey hoping ppl wouldn't ask me about them bc I'm still figuring it out haha
I'm trying to avoid triads, and while I'm willing to make the exception for them (they are The Three after all) it would be handy to swap one of them with one of Sorreltails three. currently I have the most done with them as a triad but well see.
option 1: triad
Hollyleaf takes on Jayfeather's role, Jayfeather takes on Lionblaze's, and Lionblaze takes on Hollyleaf's.
the one I'm most attached to is Jayblaze. I'm not giving his blindness to Hollyfeather, but instead keeping it as a primary motivator; his arc is about wanting power. he's constantly dismissed and infantilized by thunderclan, and he wants to prove he's capable by becoming leader some day. his power of super strength and near-invincibility help him with this, and he jumps at the opportunity to train under his Kin in the Dark Forest, whitestar & mothfrost. his arc doesn't actually end until all the way in the Broken Code, when he's made Leafflight's deputy and realizes that not only is he unfit for so much power, but that he doesn't really need it anymore. his clan respects him now. he doesn't need to rule over them or create these bloody displays of power anymore. when leafflight is about to go get her nine lives later in a starless clan, he approaches her and asks that she not make him deputy. she tells him she wasn't even considering it, and they both laugh.
hollyfeather's arc is primarily about taking care of herself and letting herself be inconvenient to others. she isn't forced into the medicine cat position, but instead takes it voluntarily due to both the desire for importance and a fascination with starclan. when the secret is revealed, she refuses to let herself break. her clan needs her. lionleaf needs her. when the secret is revealed, when lionleaf is presumed dead, when squirrelpool steps down, she just forces it down. she has to keep going.
this results in her getting a sort of tunnel vision (probably not the right term sorry), where she can only really focus on one thing at a time, lest she get overwhelmed and break down. cats are noticing; tawnyheart is stepping in whenever she can to help, and some cats are even going to Squirrelpool despite her demotion. it all comes to a head when the great battle is on the horizon and hollyfeather just can't take it anymore. she breaks down into hysterics and starts crying for her mom. leafflight runs in and hollyfeather says 'no. my other mom.' hollyfeather demands earthstar re-promote squirrelpool. she did nothing wrong, and more importantly, her daughter needs her.
I don't really know what I'm doing with lionleaf aside from a retread of hollyleafs arc sorry :P
I do really really like what I've come up with here, but the big reason I'm thinking of scrapping it is bc in my current notes I have honeyfern Swapped with either blossomfall or bumblestripe, but that ends up being more of honeyfern taking on both roles and her Swap dying as a kit. I could just swap their litter placements and ages, I guess, but eh. I don't know.
one option I considered but don't super like is swapping Hollyleaf and cinderheart. this would involve still keeping the romance between Lion (or in this case, jay) and cinder bc even if I swap the litters, that's still kinda uncomfy. I also like the idea of cinder having this massive breakdown, being presumed dead, then returning and having jayblaze welcome her with open arms bc despite everything, its still her and he's just happy his gf is back. I might remove or delay cinderleafs death for this bc the dead wife trope sucks.
another idea is swapping jayfeather and poppyfrost, altho the only idea I have for it is that poppy is chosen as a medicine cat specifically after she retrieves jaypaw from starclan. jaypaw tells his aunt about his dream and she's like HMM??? (also the Prophecy isn't a problem here, as I'm removing the Kin part anyways. it's not possible for ivywing to be firekin unless I give earthstar another litter anyways.)
anyways hope u liked my Messy rambles and half finished drafts lol
does anyone wanna hear about the warrior cats swap au I've been bouncing around in my head bc I think I've actually been popping off on some of it

I probably should've done this with the leaders & deputies... But whatever.
Medicine cats!! Lore unter the cut
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
CanarySong - SunClan's MedCat (1)
He/him, gay
The brother of MorningCrystal and DaisyBloom. He's a very talented medicine cat, with a strict and rule-following personality. He's very fond of AshFire, after watching his father (SootStep) die in the fire to save him. Everything changes, when CanarySong gets murdered by an unknown culprit...
CherryWing - SunClan's MedCat (2)
She/them, bisexual
She was mentored by CanarySong. CherryWing is really sweet, supportive, and a little bit clumsy.
BadgerFrost - MountClan's MedCat
She/her, straight
She is harsh and sarcastic, not that usual medicine cat stereotype. She's a great friend of both FoxCrystal and HollyFeather, helping them with special herbs to fulfill their identity.
JayFlower - SnowClan's MedCat
She/her, pansexual
She is very gentle and caring, always putting others in front of herself. She's usually cheerful and helpful, doing everything she can for her Clan.
FireFlake - LeafClan's MedCat
He/him, gay
He was originally a warrior, and only became a medicine cat later. His connection to CrystalClan was discovered late, but his faith is unshakable every since. Despite being very spiritual, he's even more harsh and dry. He's not very fond of StormCrystal, and is not afraid to "help" him leave the mortal world. FireFlake believes that no mortal cat has the right to judge a medicine cat, and only CrystalClan can punish him for his crimes

Loststar AU
The original Loststar AU belongs to @jjadestar
Brightpaw gets named Lostface and she seems really depressed about it at first, but then she realizes just how intimidating it sounds. So when Firestar is about to change her name, she steps forward and says she doesn't want her name to change. Most cats are surprised by this, but a few cheer her on for owning the name instead of abandoning it.
At her first gathering as Lostface, she sits up proudly as Firestart says her name, ignoring the stares from other clans.
While eating her fresh-kill, Lostface overhears Firestar and Cinderpelt talking about how Snowkit may never become a warrior. Lostface doesn't stand for it. She watches over Snowkit and manages to save him from the hawk. After that, Snowkit follows her everywhere, and when the time comes, Lostface takes newly named Snowpaw as her apprentice. She teaches him different signals that meant different things, and also teaches them to the clan so Snowpaw can communicate with everyone else.
Snowpaw turns out to be a great warrior, his name being Snowfrost. Lostface is proud of her apprentice, and he still sticks with her for the most part.
When the twolegs come and start tearing down the forest, the clans still have to move. Graystripe goes missing and when they arrive at the lake territory, Lostface is named deputy instead of Brambleclaw.
She and Cloudtail had Whitewing before they left the original territories, and Whitewing and Birchfall have Ivykit and Dovekit.
Dovekit is intimidated by Lostface at first, but Ivykit always thinks her scars are cool. Lostface knows she shouldn't pick favorites, but she likes Ivykit a bit more than Dovekit.
Shortly after Jaypaw is apprenticed to Lostface, Firestar dies of greencough and Lostface becomes Loststar. She names Honeyfern her deputy.
Hollypaw becomes a medicine cat and stays a medicine cat, and Loststar keeps Jaypaw in warrior training despite his “parents", Leafpool, and Starclan saying he needs to become a med cat.
Jaypaw gets his warrior name, Jayleaf, and Hollypaw becomes Hollyfeather.
Jayleaf and Snowfrost are good friends go this day.
Loststar apprentices Cherrypaw to Ivypool, and after Honeyfern dies from the snake, names Ivypool her new deputy. Ivypool and Loststar both live through the Dark Battle, though Loststar loses a life.
Ivypool takes over as leader while Loststar is in the nursery with her second littler of kits.
Loststar loses her last life from defending Hollyfeather, her apprentice, Alderpaw, and Snowfrost from a fox, naming Ivypool Ivystar.
Side notes:
Hollyfeather doesn’t disappear into the tunnels, instead another cat does(maybe Icecloud or Hazeltail :3).
Hollyfeather and Jayleaf switch roles, with Hollyfeather being part of the three and Jayleaf as the one who isn’t, though Jayleaf doesn’t complain.
Ivystar makes Bumblestripe, who was mentor to Molewhisker, her deputy.
Dovewing and Tigerheart were still a couple, though Dovewing doesn’t go back to him, instead she stays with Bumblestripe.

My Nightmare Sans cat design for the story I'm making, Poisoned Fruit. Dream and Night will still be brothers, but they have wildly different backstories this time around. And different names at the start.
Dream would be named Goldenstar, and Night would be Nightpearl, in reference to the moon. Of course, not all is pleasant. Dream would get berated for how tiny he is. Being a scottish fold kitten, he's small. Night is bigger, but still thinner and smaller than the other cats. They both got ridiculed and there's no real betrayal.
Dream would be asleep and Night would try to sneak out to get food for the 2 of them. However, he's attacked by a rogue dynasty cat, Hollyfeather, and is left to die. But upon seeing an apple in front of him, he decides to eat it, keeping himself alive until he gets help.
He eventually did get help, from an abused housecat known as Axeear. But his nickname was Horror, since his home called him that so often. Night went with him, helping him hunt and realise what a wild cat was. But, he forgot about his little brother. He changed his name to Nightmare, staying with Horror/Axeear.
Upon waking up, Dream noticed Night gone, walking out to try and find him, but to no avail, and he was attacked. But, he was sick of it. Sick of the abuse towards him and his brother, sick of the pain, sick of everything! And... He snapped.
OK I AM NOT REVEALING ANYMORE THAT WOULD BE JUST THE BASIC SUMMARY XD The moons took forever, and I will add shading later, just not rn lmao. This is so you can clearly see the designs and the damage done to Night in the attack-
This will be the cover of it lol. Also I have an animatic idea for this, so... yeah-

I made an au where Hollypaw stays med cat apprentice and Jay warrior. Goosefeather went to StarClan, told her to fuck off and decided to teach and help Holly bc she should make her own destiny. He also helps Jay as good he can. Even though Goose usually walks among the living bc he doesn't want to deal with StarClan's bs he can still enter dreams. He basically becomes this floofy, protective grandpa that will fuck you up if you mess with Holly and Jay (1/?)
(2/?) Hollypaw asks Leafpool to make her full name Hollyfeather in honor of Goosefeather. Leafpool does it and Jaypaw gets the full warrior name of Jaythistle bc of his prickly personality. When Goose asks Holly why she wanted that name, she tells him it was bc of him and he tries not to get emotional bc that was the first time someone wanted him to be honored. Also, Holly lives, Goose is the one to kill Ashfur and that drama goes down okay, mostly bc Goose doesn't want StarClan to fuck them up.
---
this makes me think, you would think that a cat that constantly sees dead cats who tell him about 20 years into the future and beyond would be way more important and consequential in this series about dead cats telling living cats about the future
but no he was just kind of a one time thing

Partridgestar, leader of MountainClan
small, plump gray-brown ticked tabby tom
Partridgestar is the smallest and, surprisingly, the oldest leader of the of the three. He’s far more level-headed than Newtstar and Troutstar, and does his best to stay out of their drama, while also keeping tabs on whatever is happening.
He was the only kit born to Hollyfeather and Foxflame, and grew up well loved by his mothers, who doted on him constantly. As he grew older, they began to notice he didn’t seem to take well to being referred to as a molly, and Foxflame pulled him aside, gently asking him what was wrong. He explained that he didn’t like being called a molly, and shyly admitted he wanted to be referred to as a tom instead. Foxflame assured him that there was nothing wrong with that, and told him she had felt similarly when she was an apprentice; she also assured him that the Clan would love him no matter how he chose to identify. When he became an apprentice, he requested that his Clanmates address him as a tom, and they did so without question.
Briardawn was a fine mentor, and while they were a warrior and were training Partridgepaw as such, made sure to train him as a scout as well. While both ranks have experience with the opposite, Briardawn was hard-pressed to make sure their apprentice understood the important of both - something that would become important later on.
A few moons after becoming a warrior, Partridgebelly was given Graypaw as his first apprentice. He was overjoyed, and promised to be the best mentor for her - hoping that he would be as good as his own. However, tragedy would strike about five moons in with training her - while Graypaw was scouting a tunnel with Scorchwhisker and Hollowstrike, it ended up collapsing, resulting in the death of all three cats. The Clan was devastated by the loss, and almost immediately began to fight amongst themselves, torn between whether or not scouts were needed, and if it was worth it. Some argued that they didn’t need to explore any more tunnels, that the tunnels they were using were perfectly fine, while others argued that having scouts made their Clan their Clan, and that exploring new tunnels would give them ways to escape if their main entrance were to ever be blocked. While the sudden change in the Clan’s dynamic seemed startling to the younger members, it had only been a matter of time until it happened - the rift between ranks had formed moons before Partridgebelly was born.
Grieved by the death of his apprentice, horrified by the rift, and terrified of a civil war possibly breaking out, Partridgebelly took charge, becoming the voice of reason for his Clan. He refused to take sides, and his Clanmates found it easier to listen to him than to the leader or deputy, since both were also torn on what to do about the situation. Briardawn backed up their former apprentice, and after many months of arguing and trying to figure out solutions, Partridgebelly was able to convince his Clanmates to see that scouts and warriors were needed, and that they couldn’t allow themselves turn on each other after losing a few of their Clanmates. He encouraged that Graypaw, Scorchwhisker, and Hollowstrike wouldn’t want what was happening to them, and slowly, the Clan began to settle down once more.
When the deputy retired, Partridgebelly was chosen to take their place. He was shocked, startled that he would be picked, but he was met with full support from his Clanmates. Despite his young age and not having fully trained an apprentice, he was the most popular choice, and he took it gratefully. He was nervous at first, often relying on Briardawn to help him figure out what to do, but soon became more confident in his abilities.
Even now, Partridgestar is popular in his Clan, and even in FenrirClan and CrescentClan. He had been the one to find Vulturepaw as a kit in the territory, and sees her as his own daughter. However, despite his attention to detail and his best efforts to keep a close eye on his Clanmates to prevent another split, he fails to see how they view her.
Name(s)
kit: Partridgekit
apprentice: Partridgepaw
warrior: Partridgebelly
deputy: Partridgebelly
leader: Partridgestar
Kin
mothers: Hollyfeather, Foxflame
adoptive daughter: Vulturepaw

I’ve been thinking about “the three grow up in different Clans” AU and I wanted to give my own take on it. So, here’s my ideas for how it might go.
(Disclaimer: I haven’t read po3 and oots in forever, so my timelines and information etc. etc. might be totally off. Also, I’m keeping the three’s names the same, with some ideas of what they could be otherwise. And I’m not taking cat genetics into account when it comes to pelt colours.)
First off: Hollyleaf, who is a WindClan cat. She is Nightcloud and Crowfeather’s daughter, and Breezepelt’s brother. Crow doesn’t have a fling with Leaf, and tries to love Night but is still grieving for Feathertail. Instead having a black pelt like the rest of her family, she’s more of a mottled lighter grey, and looks kind of like Feather. Because of this, Crow absolutely dotes on her, and is sometimes convinced that Feather’s spirit lives on in Holly. Just like in the canon, Holly abides strictly to the warrior code, and believes there is no higher honour than serving her Clan. She and Heatherkit/paw/tail are very good friends. Breeze, however, hates Holly, since Crow rarely ever spends time with him because he’s always with Holly. Night still loves her daughter but grows colder towards Crow because he pays no attention to Breeze. I haven’t thought too much of what Holly’s power could be, but I thought if she were to have one it could be the power of suggestion. It’s not like she can control cat’s minds, but along with being very loyal she’s an extremely good speaker, and is good at convincing cats to do what she wants. I don’t think Crow would name her Feather-, but he might request her warrior name be Hollyfeather or Hollytail.
Now, Jayfeather. Jay was born in RiverClan to Primroseheart (Mistyfoot/star’s daughter I’ve decided to not kill off) and Streamfoot (a tom I’ve made up because every Clan who isn’t ThunderClan has a pitiful number of cats.) Jay could or couldn’t have siblings, doesn’t affect the story either way (though it’d be cute if he had siblings who were really supportive of him.) Jay is a light-brown colour, not an important change but English jays are brown so. Jay is still born blind. Leopardstar doesn’t know what to do with him, and tries to convince Mothwing to take him as a second apprentice along with Willowpaw. Jay really doesn’t want to train as a medicine cat, as in the canon. Thankfully his mother and his uncle, Reed, and even Misty, are dedicated to helping him become a warrior. Reed is his mentor and during Jay’s first Gathering, Reed asks Brightheart if she could help train Jay. Bright is hesitant but agrees, and says Longtail might be able to help them too. Thus begins some occasional secret meetings between Bright, Reed, and Jay (sometimes Primrose and Misty tag along as well.) It takes him longer to become a warrior, but eventually he gets his warrior name. He has the same power, being able to walk in other cat’s dreams and see in his dreams. I really like the name Jaystep for him, but it could also be Jaysplash, Jaybright, or Jaypebble.
And now for Lionblaze. Lion is born to Tawnypelt, and has the build and face-shape of Tigerstar but looks like Goldenflower. In this version, Tigerheart doesn’t exist. We don’t need him. Lion quickly and easily proves himself a strong and eager warrior. He has a much stronger character than he does in canon po3. Lion is fiercely protective of his siblings, and wants ShadowClan to have a better reputation. He doesn’t like that they’re seen as secretive and manipulative, and believes his Clan is better than that. When he begins to realize he can’t be hurt in battle, he begins to wonder if he should reveal his power and use it to take over ShadowClan and rebuild it so it can reach its full potential. He never goes through with it, since he’s still a really sweet and loyal guy and just tries his best to fix ShadowClan as a warrior. Lion’s other names might be Lionclaw, Lionheart, or Lionstrike, but honestly I really like his canon name.
The three meet each other at Gatherings, speaking in passing but never becoming very good friends until later in their apprenticeship. By then, most of them have begun to notice their powers. All of them gradually notice that something is “off” with the other (Holly notices that Lion has no wounds, even though she knows Shadow and Thunder/River had a skirmish he was involved in; Jay notices that Holly can offhandedly tell a cat what to do and they’ll usually do it; Lion and Holly pick up that Jay knows more about cats and places than a blind cat should, etc.), until they all realize the other two are the two from the prophecy and confront each other (at this point the three have each separately overheard the prophecy and figured out that they’re one of the three. Also, the prophecy will have to be changed but I’m not sure what it would be.)
Somewhere along the line, the three are visited by StarClan, and get the prophecy about the fourth cat. Now, we get Dovewing. Dove’s story stays almost exactly the same, she’s born in ThunderClan to Whitewing and Birchfall, and Ivy is her sister. She and Ivy are exceptionally close. When they’re young apprentices, Dove mentions something about what’s happening in another Clan, and Ivy is shocked. Dove realizes not every cat can hear and see like she can, and becomes paranoid in keeping her secret. Ivy supports her however she can, and still loves her sister a lot, but is jealous of the ability she has. Hawkfrost still tricks her into training in the Dark Forest, but she soon picks up on the fact that this place is evil as hell. Ivy doesn’t tell Dove, but spies on her own, learning whatever she can about the Dark Forest and their plans. The three figure out from the prophecy that Dove is the fourth cat, confront her at a Gathering, and Dove admits that she does have special powers.
From there I imagine Ivy eventually tells Dove once she pieces together that the Dark Forest wants to attack the Clans (she listened in on the DF cats plotting multiple times,) Dove gets upset that Ivy never told her, Ivy feels bad but doesn’t really apologize, Dove tells the three that the DF exists and that Ivy’s been spying on them, the three tell Dove to tell Ivy she needs to keep spying on them and Dove lets Ivy in on the prophecy. Ivy gets upset at Dove for getting mad at her when she was keeping a secret when she was keeping one of her own, and nearly considers betraying the four to the DF, but she realizes that the DF is far too big a threat and that the four are the Clans' only hope.
I really want to further explore the idea of Holly being Night and Crow’s daughter and looking like Feather, and her relationship with Breezepelt because of it. She definitely kills him during the great battle, though, there’s no way Holly would let Breeze live after she finds out he’s with the DF. I like to imagine she kills him once he’s in the DF too, just as a final “fuck you.”
I think Holly would become leader after Onestar, and lead her Clan well for many, many moons before eventually dying peacefully of old age. Somewhere along the line Rowanclaw dies, and Tawny is made deputy. Blackstar dies sooner than he does in the series and Tawny becomes leader (and makes her son, Lion, deputy.) Lion may or may not become leader, depending on how much longer Tawny lives, but she makes a fantastic leader, as would Lion if he ever became one. During the great battle Bramble dies as well as Firestar, but Firestar lives a couple days after the battle ends, eventually succumbing to wounds, but appoints Ivypool the new deputy. Ivy also leads her well Clan for many seasons, and probably dies valiantly saving her Clan in battle. Since Ivy and Holly are leaders for pretty much the same time, ThunderClan and WindClan enjoy many seasons of (most of the time) peaceful coexistence. Jay has never aspired towards leader, but is always a voice of reason to whoever is leader at the time. He lives a quiet life snarking at his Clanmates, whom he loves dearly. Dovewing makes friends with some of the cats at Twolegplace, and a couple of seasons after the battle, tells Ivy she wants to leave to be a kittypet. Ivy is extremely surprised and almost disgusted that her sister would want to live a soft life, but she loves her nonetheless and visits her from time to time.
This is a pretty disjointed idea but I’ve never written any ideas/AUs for warriors and I wanted to try my hand at it. If anyone has any more ideas for this AU feel free to share!
