Moonleaf is good but also i think Hollymoon is such a pretty name! I could also see Half Moon/Hollyleaf AU where she stays as the med cat, getting "dreams from StarClan" about how to keep the clans in better line with the Code but it maybe being the Dark Forest manipulating her? Idk idk just a thought but her rigid belief in the Code could def be a strong manipulation point.
hollymoon IS a really pretty name! i just think having the prefix be the part that alludes to half moon makes more sense actually-
maybe hollymoon WOULD make more sense since the "moon" in half moon is also the second part of her name
and holly starts with h like half
and if she stays a medicine cat then leafpool could still name her hollymoon after the moonpool (and then jayfeather gets named jayleaf instead cause squirrelflight asks firestar to name him after leafpool like she did with hollyleaf and he doesn't get named after stinky crowfeather anymore) and it ALSO comes full circle (heh full circle... like a full moon... and the moon looks like a circle) because the moonstone and therefore the moonpool were both TECHNICALLY named after half moon so the moonpool was named after half moon who when reincarnated got named after the moonpool!
and that would make her the closest of her siblings to their birth mother when they all find out, so then her confronting her mother and trying to get her to eat death berries is even more impactful and even more fucked up and even more incredibly incredibly heartbreaking
never mind anon you're absolutely right, hollymoon is so so much better

Background 'Family': Flipstep
[Insert picture here]
Nicknames: ??
Gender: tom
Sexuality: heterosexual
Family: unnamed mother, unnamed father, Daisydust, Rubblefall (daughters), unnamed kit, Curlear, unnamed she-cat (mates, formerly)
Other Relations: Smalljump (step-son [dislikes])
Clan: SkyClan
Rank: warrior
Current Residence: StarClan
Cause of Death: ??
Background:
He had planned to run off with a loner he had met on the border, when she told him that she was expecting kits.
He wouldn't have his Clan, but that was fine--they would still be a family.
But then came the birth, and there was so much blood....She had begged Flipstep to get help, but when he came back with medicine, she was already gone, with two kits mewling pitifully at her belly.
The life he had imagined, the dream they had been building, was gone. He didn't want to leave his love's resting place, but he had to return to the Clan for his kits. They needed milk, and he couldn't leave them on their own to hunt.
One of the kits passed on the journey, and he had shouted at the stars then, demanding why they would force him to abandon not only his mate's resting place but his kit's as well. He didn't get much time to grieve. He had to keep going for his remaining kit.
When he returned to camp, missing for nearly two moons, he told a tall tale of how he was taken by Twolegs. There, the place was horrible. The Twolegs forgot to feed them. There was an expecting queen who begged him to take her kits and run, so he did when he finally figured out how to escape.
The kit was given to Jayleaf, who was nursing Sharpkit.
Flipstep instantly felt regret. Should he have told the truth? Should he at least have said that the kit was his? But it was too late. He couldn't change his story now.
He couldn't be the kit's father, but he could be her mentor. He asked the deputy about it, explaining that he promised her mother he would look after her. It wasn't exactly a lie--he promised it at her vigil.
He wasn't expecting Rubblepaw to be such a nuisance. Sure, she was a troublesome kit, but he didn't think she would be such a bully!
He felt bad for the younger and smaller apprentice, Smallpaw, and lectured Rubblepaw often. But it was like Rubblepaw wanted to get in trouble.
Smallpaw's mother, Curlear, was her son's number one protector. She snapped at his bullies at least once a day--because they bullied him at least once a day--and had to speak with the mentors more often than not.
Flipstep felt a connection with her. She was only a parent doing their best for their kit. He was the same, even if no one could know it. He opened up to her, admitting that he wished he could be better, that he could be the mentor (father) that Rubblepaw needed him to be, but he had no idea what to do. In turn, Curlear confessed that she feels she is doing something wrong, but that the thought of doing anything other than defend her little kit and keep him safe felt too horrible.
They became each other's support. When Curlear struggled, Flintstep would support her. When Flipstep and Rubblepaw argued, Curlear would encourage him.
It surprised no one when their relationship moved to a more intimate nature.
When Curlear had told him she was expecting, he was over the moon, bouncing on his paws in joy and already suggesting names for the little ones.
He could be there this time! He could raise a family with his love!
But the happy moment was cut off by a yowl splitting the air. Smalljump and a patrol with him had burst into the camp, explaining that an old badger den had collapsed on top of Sharplight, Brownsong, and Rubblefall.
Only Sharplight and Rubblefall had survived, but they were heavily injured and laid unconscious in the den for a couple of days.
During that time, Curlear rarely ever left Flipstep's side. For that, he was grateful. She was the light in his time of darkness, watching over his former apprentice and daughter in the medicine den, injured and scarred.
It was during one of their many visits that Curlear wondered when they should tell the Clan about the kits, saying that it could help with everyone's morale, but of course she had to tell Smalljump first.
Smalljump's name made Rubblefall stir. At first she was scared and shocked, and when they managed to help her figure out where she was, she demanded to see the leader. When he arrived, she explained everything, how she, Brownsong, and Sharplight had entered the badger den to find prey planted by a cat, how Smalljump didn't go in with them and couldn't be seen at the entrance, how the rocks began to fall.
Later, the cats on the rescuing patrol would state that they found Smalljump on top of the den. He would claim that he had tried to dig them out, but the patrol saw no proof of it. That, coupled with the fact that the rocks fell out of nowhere and everything else, was enough to convict the small tom.
Curlear and Flipstep were still present in the medicine den during Rubblefall's story.
They were torn, with Curlear begging the Clan to hear Smalljump out and Flipstep having to bite his tongue hard to prevent suggesting his execution.
Curlear was heavily upset. She wouldn't move from her nest for days. Flipstep tried to support her and Rubblefall, he did, but it felt like a betrayal for either cat when he spoke with the other. Curlear's son had tried to kill Rubblefall. Was it wrong to support them both at the same time?
A moon passed and she was still holding onto her son, still holding onto his scent.
She had mixed his nest with hers before anyone could get rid of it, and Flipstep held his tongue again. But how could she make him smell his stench every night when they lay curled together in the nursery after what that thing did to his apprentice? Didn't she have any compassion?
He felt himself growing numb when he was with her. He still loved her, but he was also so angry and upset, and he felt distant and far away even when they were physically so close.
He never meant to say anything to her, but then he learned that Rubblefall, his apprentice, his daughter, the one he promised his old mate that he would always protect, would forever be scarred from the event, and would forever carry a limp.
After that, he witnessed Curlear retrieving Smalljump's old nest that an apprentice had tried to clean out, and he snapped.
He said many things that he regretted, the worst of it being that Curlear was a horrible mother and that's why Smalljump did what he did, and insinuating that she would ruin their kits as well. He regretted it not only because it hurt Curlear--and that he was deeply sorry for--but also because he wouldn't get to be a father to his new kits.
Curlear had broken up with him, telling him that he was to stay out of her life and the lives of their kits--her kits.
He tried to talk to her many times, sending her prey and anything else she may need, but Curlear always turned him away. Even when he sent it through a messenger, she would refuse to use it when she found out that it had been sent by him.
When Curlear went into labor, he was terrified. She wouldn't allow him into the den, but he stuck around as close as he could outside of it, at least he would when he wasn't rushing to get water-soaked moss or sticks or whatever she may need.
MORE TBA
===================
--Because I imagine that Rubblefall is dark brown, he likely is too and that's where Rubble and Daisydust (seen here) got their dark brown fur from. Curlear isn't white, so Daisy likely got that from him as well. From Curlear, she got the light brown fur.
--This is the format used on background characters on Refsheet, for anyone curious!
--He's the kind of guy to be like "babe don't be made I'm sorry! Can't you stop being so selfish?? I didn't mean it!!!" and Curlear was just "no fuck you."
He does genuinely feel bad, but that doesn't excuse what he said.
-- @elementaldeityoffood some Smalljump family for you

Loststar AU
The original Loststar AU belongs to @jjadestar
Brightpaw gets named Lostface and she seems really depressed about it at first, but then she realizes just how intimidating it sounds. So when Firestar is about to change her name, she steps forward and says she doesn't want her name to change. Most cats are surprised by this, but a few cheer her on for owning the name instead of abandoning it.
At her first gathering as Lostface, she sits up proudly as Firestart says her name, ignoring the stares from other clans.
While eating her fresh-kill, Lostface overhears Firestar and Cinderpelt talking about how Snowkit may never become a warrior. Lostface doesn't stand for it. She watches over Snowkit and manages to save him from the hawk. After that, Snowkit follows her everywhere, and when the time comes, Lostface takes newly named Snowpaw as her apprentice. She teaches him different signals that meant different things, and also teaches them to the clan so Snowpaw can communicate with everyone else.
Snowpaw turns out to be a great warrior, his name being Snowfrost. Lostface is proud of her apprentice, and he still sticks with her for the most part.
When the twolegs come and start tearing down the forest, the clans still have to move. Graystripe goes missing and when they arrive at the lake territory, Lostface is named deputy instead of Brambleclaw.
She and Cloudtail had Whitewing before they left the original territories, and Whitewing and Birchfall have Ivykit and Dovekit.
Dovekit is intimidated by Lostface at first, but Ivykit always thinks her scars are cool. Lostface knows she shouldn't pick favorites, but she likes Ivykit a bit more than Dovekit.
Shortly after Jaypaw is apprenticed to Lostface, Firestar dies of greencough and Lostface becomes Loststar. She names Honeyfern her deputy.
Hollypaw becomes a medicine cat and stays a medicine cat, and Loststar keeps Jaypaw in warrior training despite his “parents", Leafpool, and Starclan saying he needs to become a med cat.
Jaypaw gets his warrior name, Jayleaf, and Hollypaw becomes Hollyfeather.
Jayleaf and Snowfrost are good friends go this day.
Loststar apprentices Cherrypaw to Ivypool, and after Honeyfern dies from the snake, names Ivypool her new deputy. Ivypool and Loststar both live through the Dark Battle, though Loststar loses a life.
Ivypool takes over as leader while Loststar is in the nursery with her second littler of kits.
Loststar loses her last life from defending Hollyfeather, her apprentice, Alderpaw, and Snowfrost from a fox, naming Ivypool Ivystar.
Side notes:
Hollyfeather doesn’t disappear into the tunnels, instead another cat does(maybe Icecloud or Hazeltail :3).
Hollyfeather and Jayleaf switch roles, with Hollyfeather being part of the three and Jayleaf as the one who isn’t, though Jayleaf doesn’t complain.
Ivystar makes Bumblestripe, who was mentor to Molewhisker, her deputy.
Dovewing and Tigerheart were still a couple, though Dovewing doesn’t go back to him, instead she stays with Bumblestripe.

Honor Name AU
This is the fleshed out version of the "Cats are named based on cats they adored or their achievements" I had in my AUs part two post.
Basics
In this AU cats name themselves based on the above. More broadly it can be anything in their life, but it's mainly those two, and more often cats who were close to them. So, at warrior ceremonies they get to choose their suffix. They'll only change their prefix if the name doesn't make sense (like, Robinrunning would sound odd), and will probably keep their old prefix as the suffix.
If a cat dies young, they will be renamed out of sorrow and respect for their death. Since they can't choose their name, the suffix will most often be what they died to (badger, claw, cough, etc). Don't want to name them after someone they hate by accident. If not that, it's a very obvious achievement, though dying young they probably don't have one
These chosen suffixes/prefixes are called honor words
Some cats might use cats they absolutely hate for their honor word, in a sort of spiteful or reminding way. Like, "I'ma make this part of my name to make sure I don't fuck up."
This could totally get confusing or repetitive and that's kinda rad
Ceremonies
Normal, after the apprentice says "I do"
"Then by the power of StarClan I give you your warrior name. (Apprentice) has chosen (new name), with (honor word) for (reason). StarClan honors your (virtues) and we welcome you as a full warrior of (clan)"
Young cat has died
"This (kit/apprentice) has gone through trial that took their life to soon. In honor of them, I give them the name of (new name) with (honor word) for (reason). We honor (new name)'s (vitures) and we welcome them as a warrior in StarClan."

aint this already a thing doe

tiger+fur and jay+leaf!!
Tigerfur: Least favorite romance
Anything too forced like Root and Bristle and TigerDove tbh . . . TigerDove isn't as bad but still. I think it's my least favorite at this point.
Jayleaf: Alter one thing about a storyline
Isn't that like. What I'm doing with this rewrite?
Jk jk, uhhhh probably in TNP that Tawny and Feather are more important and get a POV. Crowpaw deserved one too, but tbh he's so much more important that the other two.

Jaypelt and Jayleaf for the ask game?
Jaypelt: alter one thing about a character?
I really had a think about this one, because I didn’t want to offer another lacklustre answer after the previous two! It’s been super difficult to come up with anything, but if it came to, “what would make me enjoy the series more?” I think I’d go with a sort-of-cheat answer, which is that I would remove the superpowers from all cats with some sort of magic ability. That’s very boring to me, to just have powers and no reason for it and no cost for using them.
For me to enjoy a series like this one, set in what pretends to be a real world location, you can’t just have a cat who can throw a tree. You just can’t. So I would remove those powers and if there still had to be powers, I would want more subtle things: hearing whispering voices, enhanced endurance, an ability to understand what is inexplicable to other cats (i.e., behaviour of humans, or the speech of another animal), eerily accurate prophetic feelings, so on. The kind of thing that can usually be explained away as coincidence, or that otherwise has an element of the unreal or the hoax-y about it–i.e., how can we trust you? or, if it is from a supernatural source, how can we trust it? I enjoy that kind of thing a lot.
Jayleaf: alter one thing about a storyline?
I vaguely remember that time Brambleclaw found out his kits weren’t biologically his kits, and then got stroppy about it, and I don’t care for that at all. I thought it was a childish, stupid response, to be so tied up in the concept of “blood relative,” and also I thought it was pretty ridiculous that Leafpool and Squirrelflight would just… not tell him. That fundamentally rings so many alarm bells for me re: the health of a relationship; it’s built on bad ground if you keep that kind of a secret from a partner.
So, the change I would make is that, actually, Brambleclaw is in on the whole thing. That would be way cooler to me, and turn a situation that’s really pretty ick to me into, if nothing else, a much kinder, better message re: what constitutes a healthy relationship, a healthy partnership, a supportive family, and a caring and invested father. There’s a massive privileging that goes on when it comes to biological family, wrapped up in the belief that all it takes to be considered a “real” father is to sire a child–whereas a man who raises a child he isn’t biologically related to isn’t typically referred to as “real,” because of the biological implication of the word.
I’d personally love to see that conflict play out, and watch the discussion between the clans and cats involved. It’d be swell to see the truth come out and someone turn, shocked, to Brambleclaw like, “Gasp! you poor thing, this must be so hard for you to find out they’re not your–” and he’s there with shades on in his Proud Dad shirt like, “Oh you THOUGHT??” Basically, I would prefer for the storyline to be one that made the characters cool and supportive and ride-or-die for each other, instead of snippy and secretive and overall kind of shitty about the whole situation.
It’s also a way better romance plot to me, frankly, for Squirrelflight to be like, “Brambleclaw, I think you’re right, we should have kits,” and he’s like, “Oh man this is great, I’d love to, we’ve talked about being parents for so long, I’m so happy that–” and she’s like, “Yeah, it’s swell, we’re having them in like one month and also they’re my sister’s, she’s just told me and do you think we can make this work???? sorry for the late notice, also I love you,” and he’s like… “…all right. all right, okay, we’ve got this, I’ll ask you tomorrow in public if your paws hurt and do you need some extra sun-time and no-one will ever know otherwise, it’s foolproof,” and basically what I’m saying is the intimacy created in sharing such an enormous important secret on top of raising kids together is phenomenal and very good. That’s a love I can believe in.

Jayleaf!!
remove the ableism, i want cinderpelt being a kickass warrior, longtail being encouraged by his clanmates to continue being a warrior despite being blinded, jayfeather being renown as a warrior whose bark is as bad as his bite, snowkit growing up and managing to help thunderclan through a series of signals and gestures that only he and his clan knows, they deserve every bit of what they wanna work hard for

hollystrike: share a headcanon for a clan
listen I’m gonna be real with u I haven’t read a warriors book in 200 years but I think it’d be really cool if ShadowClan used pine wood for reinforcing their dens since they live in an evergreen area and it’s pretty lightweight
jayleaf: alter one thing about a storyline

jayleaf & jayfur???
JAYLEAF: Alter one thing about a storyline?
- oooh im going down to the roots rn but i would alter the first storyline so that rusty/firepaw becomes a medicine cat apprentice instead of a warrior apprentice !! I always thought that concept was neat and i feel like itd have a tighter meaning to "fire alone can save our clan" !!!
JAYFUR: Alter one thing about a romance?
- OH BOY there is. A lot of things id change abt a LOT of romances mm.... I guess for BlueOak could be fixed up by altering their chemistry/amount of meetings??? I always thought it was really out of nowhere how blue and oak met up for one night and then immediately after blue had his kits and he became the love of her life like they hung out....for one night.....she had more chemistry w crooked for goodness sake 😭😭😭

Ooooooooooh and Jayleaf. I definitely want your opinions on storylines.
Jayleaf - alter one thing about a storyline
Uh.
I’m looking at my pile of rewrites and sweating nervously here.
One thing. One thing I would change. I would’ve kept Hollyleaf in ThunderClan for Omen of the Stars. “Killing” her prevented her from having to deal with the aftermath of her actions and her Clanmates judgement. It was cheap and while I love Hollyleaf/Fallen Leaves I think Hollyleaf in ThunderClan would’ve been better for multiple reasons but that I think would be changing more than one thing.
Jayleaf - a blue furred she-cat with yellow eyes and white chin
