CHRISTMAS!!!!!! 🎄🎁🎉

Hi y'all I know I'm late as hell (I was trying to make a Christmas drawing to go with the theme of this post but it was taking too long to finish and I'm really tired) but I still wanted to get a Christmas post in to celebrate!!! I hope everyone had a good day, even if you don't celebrate Christmas <33

Now... I don't have a drawing ready like I wanted, but I do have a decent haul, so I'm here to show the world my favorites of the things I got ‼️🗣

I got all of these from my buddy @linminty !!! We exchanged gifts for the first time and it was so !!! much fun !!! I absolutely love the entire package (Yes, Ethan, I know it's been hours since I opened that box up and I'm STILL hyped over all the stuff you sent me) and I'm very happy you like my gift, too 😁🫶💙 (I can't even pick a favorite out of all of these because they're all so cute I WILL CRY!!!) {Also somebody please help, I need to pick a name for the cute lil alien 🥺}

Lastly, I got these from my mum!!! I love them all, but omg, the K-2SO one almost made me cry when I opened the gift I swear (I love him so much he is very dear to me ESPECIALLY AFTER I LOST MY BLACK SERIES K-2SO ☹️☹️☹️ IDK WHERE HE WENT!!!) {Also the Mando & Grogu set is so cute LOOK AT THEMMM}

To end things off, as a treat, here's my dog Zuka wearing her new Christmas tie :))) {I had to make her look up for the picture so she wouldn't eat the tie cuz she really wanted to LMFAO}

for the people asking in the notes, no, "clusterfuck" is not a translation of their currency. it just means the situation is complicated. the official currency was the Zimbabwean dollar until the 2000s when the country went through economic crisis and hyper-inflation. the Zim dollar was abandoned and multiple international currencies became legal tender concurrently (US dollar, British pound, Euro, South African rand, Botswana pula) although in practice, they used mainly the US dollar

in 2019 (before the pandemic), Zimbabwe introduced the New Zimbabwean dollar as the official currency, however this did not work out for them and in mid-2020 they went back to accepting multiple foreign currencies (but again, in practice, they use the US dollar)

My 63-year old aunt, Merlina (Dina) Bayongan, is currently recovering at home from a broken hip, and the costs for surgery and medical treatment have become more than our family can afford on our own. Currently, the hospital has informed us that the bill is $20,000 CAD and likely to increase. My family and I are incredibly grateful for your assistance in paying for the costs of treatment so we can ensure her quality of life.

My aunt is a resident of the Philippines, who has been visiting my family for the last few weeks here in Canada. She broke her hip on November 28, after falling during a dizzy spell most likely due to a fever she had at the time. Being a tourist with no insurance, medical care is not covered under Canadian insurance policies. We ended up calling for an ambulance to take her to the hospital after we also realised she had developed an infection on her foot during her fever. This turned out to be a necessary call - during the ambulance ride, the paramedics became increasingly worried about the state of her hip, and X-Rays at the hospital confirmed that she had broken it in the fall.

My aunt stayed overnight at the hospital, where they informed us that her stay would cost $3000 per night out of pocket for the duration of her stay, and told us she needed to go into surgery the next day. Thankfully, the surgery has gone without any hitches, and she is recovering well, a fact that my family and I are eternally grateful for. They kept her a few days longer before she was able to come home. Despite everything, we are relieved that her injury occurred here in Canada, rather than back home in the Philippines, because the healthcare options for her are much better than what's available back home.

She is currently recovering at home, and has been improving in strength. We've been taking her for daily walks outside the apartment hallways, with the help of a walker lent by the hospital. We have a few other equipment on loan including a pushchair, and things to make our bathroom a bit more accessible, but we'll have to start covering the rental fees once the month ends.

She came to visit Canada after retiring back home in the Philippines as she wanted to experience snow for the first time, so we are really hoping she recovers well enough that we can at least take her outside to experience Canadian snow, and hopefully return home to her family and grandchildren back in the Philippines. The holidays will be rough for my family and hopefully with your help, we can make all this trouble worth it by getting our aunt back on her feet.

I would say I like the Fight Scene between Boba Fett and Cad Bane EXCEPT they might bring back Cad Bane by having him Survive the Stab in Season 2 anyway, which makes the Showdown Completely Fricking Pointless because Everyone is Upset that he Died and wanna see more of him in Live-Action even though he already has Enough Screentime in The Clone Wars and also The Rebel Cartoon but WHATEVER...

Samah Aburakhia (@aburakhiaibrahim ) has been fundraising for her family of twenty eight, but the donations have been incredibly slow. Initially the fundraiser was started so that the family could evacuate to Canada (where Samah currently resides), however with the occupation forces closing the border, this hasn't been possible and now her family is trying to survive through the genocide. Samah is worried sick for her family. She hasn't been able to visit home for thirteen years because of the occupation, and now she has to watch the same occupation destroy the childhoods of all fifteen kids in her family. 

So please, please help Samah. The cost of living is exceptionally high in Gaza because of the bombings and the blockade. So right now even a $5 CAD ( $3.75 USD) donation can go a long way. Please boost and donate.

I know that the holiday season can be really depressing and lonely.

I have some extra stamps from when I used to sell my postcards and would love to send Christmas cards to people that could use them 🩷. There are a couple international stamps, some USD ones and some CAD ones!

If you don’t celebrate Christmas but another holiday, I’m happy to write something different in them but the cards I already own have Christmas decorations on them fyi. One of them does say “happy holidays” instead but it has a puppy with a Santa hat on it. (Please let me know if Christmas is okay though because I found some cute Christmas stickers when I was going through my Christmas stuff.)

Obviously I’d need an address which might be uncomfortable so please only request one if you’re comfortable with me sending you a physical card in the mail. I also don’t expect you to send any cards back! I’m including my return address so I can get them returned if the address is wrong and they bounce back.

Things I learned on Duolingo : the bear is taking bribes.

This would be even funnier in Italian, where I'm given to understand bribery is a contact sport :D But that's hilarious. Oh, my lovely bisexual polyamorous Jewish beekeeping bear.

For the holidays, Duolingo has released several stuffed versions of their characters including Falstaff, and also blind boxes of figurines; I don't really want a plush Falstaff but I'd like a figurine, and the problem is that all the figurines are of Duo the Owl and also FIFTEEN DOLLARS for a BLIND BOX seems like a lot. But someday I will have a tiny Falstaff figurine to keep on my desk. I might have to sculpt one in CAD and 3-D print it.

== Love Notes ==

Well Lovelies, we're coming to the end of the year here. As I write this, it's New Year's Eve. I ended up being really sick for several days so I couldn't finish these on time (so sorry for the jump scare, I legit thought I'd be gone for a long while after two docs told me what they thought it was-- but luckily, no surgery for me). I'll try to be getting the last couple of the year out tomorrow if I can <3 I did want to mention, I know the David Jenkins fanfic/OFMD Christmas special is causing a bit of contention out there. Some folks are worried it's S3, and are either upset because it doesn't meet what they were expecting so far, or worried that because it's there, we're not getting an s3 at all. These are all valid concerns! For me, I like to think of what David's doing as a little gift to keep our hope alive. Whatever reason-- whatever comes of it, David cares so much about us that he's keeping us all engaged this late into the year. How many creators can we say do that for their fandom (let alone with a newborn)? Did you feel that same tingly feeling I did as we got more and more updates? It felt like watching an episode of OFMD again, for the first time, not knowing where it was going. It was a roller coaster ride of emotions, and as usual David is perfect with timing of specific revelations for maximum affect. We get to interact with him and all of our crewmates in the wee hours of 2024, and feel that same love and excitement that brought us together in the first place-- and I really do think that's such a wonderful gift. Seeing so many folks get excited, and brains firing off a mile a minute on new meta and new headcanons has been wonderful to watch. Whatever happens, whatever comes of it, we are getting to feel that unexpected excitement again. That little flutter of uncertainty-- that spark of joy and hope. So don't despair okay? Whatever happens, we still have our S1, and S2, and we still have each other-- and if we get an s3 out of all this too-- great! Whatever happens, we still have this insanely talented, and kind, and breathtakingly creative crew, and I am so very grateful for each and every one of you. OFMD changed my life for the better. You all changed my life for the better. You all changed SO MANY lives for the better, just by being you and sharing your love of this brilliant show. OFMD is the gift that keeps on giving, and I'm grateful David's trying to give us a bit more to play with for now, to do with as we will. Happy Holidays Lovelies and Happy New Year. May you get the rest and love you deserve, and all the things you desire this year.
