To be honest, this post said it all for me.

But there's this one thing that detox Rick said that stuck to me, about the algorithmic expression of trying to calculate happiness. And this part stuck out to me because no matter if Rick has cognitive toxins or not, he's still a scientist at heart and he's always asking questions and trying to make discoveries. Also, it's interesting because both detox/toxic/rick still treat Morty like he's their peer, detox Rick asks Morty for his advice which i thought was heartwarming that he even cared about Morty's opinion on a situation and that he asked so respectfully too.

It's hard for me to have an opinion on just toxic/detox Rick because a lot of it is defined by Morty's character changes too! The scene with Morty breaking Rick's phone stood out to me bc breaking someone's personal stuff and using manipulative tactics 'taking that away from me...that wouldn't be healthy' to avoid talking about the situation seems a lot like something Rick would have done lol. The way Morty almost doesn't even care about what Jessica is saying or her nervous/uncomfortable behaviour at dinner says a lot to me as well. He wasn't even bothered that she left the date halfway through. I feel like regular Morty would have cared about those things. But i guess thats what Morty shed? His fear of what other people think of him. anyway.

I thought it was also fascinating the way detox Rick said that it's not their place to decide to pick and choose what planet gets saved from an apocalypse -> contrasting morty's default state which is to try and save anything he can from injustice lol

Toxic Rick: I think he's absolutely hilarious to watch on screen and he's a smug asshole, but he's everything that makes Rick interesting as a character. Would I wanna meet the guy? Nah. lol I think one of my favourite scenes was the fight between detox and toxic lol and the way they were both on even footing but toxic had the upperhand haha i also think it's fascinating that Rick thinks his attachment to Morty is toxic gave me chills to see detox Rick shoot Morty so easily T_T

anyway im terrible with analysis and marshalling my thoughts in order lol
