It’s not the addition of something new, it’s the absence of something she’s become reliant on, something that fuels her through each day.

Summary: At nineteen, James vanishes, and Lily breaks. *Note from author: Based loosely on the prompt "au where james leaves one night to keep the lily safe and is assumed dead but returns to lily when the war is over to find she is ‘engaged’ to someone else."

Not going to lie, this one hurts, but it's sooo well written. It makes you feel everything. And...let's not forget there's light at the end of the tunnel. 💔🩹😌

So I played this game today in Uni's fest, where we were asked to share a thing/incidence from the past two years of our lives that amazed us, or something that we found beautiful.

I couldn't really answer properly back there because there are just so many things that have inspired me. But the more I thought about it, the more I realised that the Jily fandom (or any fandom in general) is something that is so uniquely beautiful.

Majority of the people here don't know how the other person looks, majority of us are from different nations, majority of us speak different languages, we are all different ages, we all have different jobs, hell we all belong to different time zones!

But there's something like a thread that has tied us all together. It's something as simple as love for two people, that too fictional characters!

It's like, a fiction has given us something real. Divided my nations (perhaps) but united by a fandom!

And if that's not beautiful, I don't know what is.

The fuse has been lit. Lily can almost hear the crackling hiss of it, feel the building burn of it in the air as Sirius takes the reins of the conversation, as drinks are bought and poured down newly dry throats, and eventually as last orders are called and the four of them are standing outside and saying farewell with kisses on cheeks. Sam and Sirius apparate away. Lily and James do not.

They stand, eyes fixed firmly on each other, ready to ignite.

‘Not forever, you said?’ James asks, his voice deep and quiet in a way that’s never been hers to hear before now.
