Hi, do you have an advice on starting out a fanfic? I posted my writing on ao3, and the few people that placed a hit barely left a kudos/comment. It's really discouraging...

Writing a long term canon compliant marauders fanfic is hard since the fandom is big and there are dozens of those, so I don't really blame people for just not finding it, but it's hard.

Did you face that problem when starting out? Any advice?

I sympathise, that is a bummer! The first time I tried (and gloriously failed) to write a long fic was on FFN, and I seem to remember the stats there being so much jankier lol so I feel quite grateful for the fact that I didn't notice who was or wasn't paying attention. By the time I started writing again recently I guess I wasn't shouting into the void as much because I'd had this tumblr and my ao3 for a while and it was much easier to randomly accumulate followers in tumblr's heyday.

That...brings me to my advice — it takes time! To develop and refine your skill as a writer, to clarify your own character interpretations and headcanon, and to find readers who like what you write. To survive that time without feeling miserable you have to be writing something that makes you happy first and foremost. Centre yourself and self-improvement, and that will lead you to a place where you feel less bothered by the numbers and perhaps even to the kind of community that fuels you.

Just so you know, your fic got me craving so bad to tune in to the Sonorous radio station. I mean the hosts are so nice and the MUSIC™. I don't know, this idea is so good, I wish Sonorous was real. This is like the most specific thing ever, but I guess my question to you is if you have any recommendations to podcasts or radio stations that give off the Sonorous vibes?

PLEASE I just thought of how nice it would be to listen to this one specific radio station while driving, again, nice hosts, rock n roll oldies, even magical bands that I'm VERY curios about, and then I got so disappointed when I remembered it's actually fictional.

aw this is so sweet! exactly the feeling the characters are having right now while sonorus is on hiatus hahaha. unfortunately nothing comes to mind in terms of the vibe because i don’t really listen to the radio anymore and the show isn’t actually inspired by anything specific (except that it’s somewhat meant to evoke potterwatch hah). and i curate all the fic’s music myself so there isn’t anything else to rely on really…
