I think it looks a bit like a warhammeresque kind of unit. They probably have flamethrowers and when they speak they make references to hell all the time, as well as bad puns about things like "hot", "flame", "burn" and "fire". You get the picture.
Drawing from all the way back in 2021. Wow, it's been three years...

So for obvious reasons I have been thinking about IWTV a lot recently, and thinking about the books a lot. I was OBSESSED with The Vampire Chronicles when I was in middle school, into early high school.
But something that I think may not really be clear to people reading them now, or to people who only know the show, is that there's a reason the books got away with being so incredibly queer and being Bestsellers in the 70s, 80s and 90s: there was no sex.
If you're unaware, in the books, Anne Rice's vampires cannot have sex. They are impotent, sex in the human way is just not a drive they have anymore. Instead physical connection is all about sharing blood. (For the record I think the show is right to have changed this. It's not worried about censorship on that front and having sex as part of the relationships makes them way easier to communicate to the audience.)
So while the books are very homoerotic, homoromantic, and at times quite suggestive, they never have on page sexual activity, they never label relationships with explicit romantic terms like lover or husband, characters never declare their sexuality. (In early books at least.)
What this meant is that The Vampire Chronicles existed in this Plausible Deniability space where anyone who had read them realized they were gay, but they weren't LABELED AS SUCH and therefore mainstream audiences didn't know that was part of it.
So me and my friends could be 11 or 12 carrying these books around our Catholic school and didn't get anything said about it. One of my English teachers had read the first one, and we talked about it, and her only complaint was that it wasn't philosophical enough for her. But she was cool.
So, I KNEW Louis and Lestat were in love. I knew Lestat had male and female lovers. And it affected me PROFOUNDLY because it was the first depiction of queerness as anything but a joke I ever encountered.
But it wasn't "gay fiction." If it was the target of right wing criticism it was about being satanic, not queer.
I was thinking of the 4th book in the series, which I read when it was first released, in 1992. In it, (spoilers) Lestat becomes human again. And he turns to his human openly gay friend David and says "omg I'm human. Let's HAVE SEX!"
Reading that and the fucking THIRD EYE that opened for me is BURNED into my memory. I remember how scandalous that was, because it was ON THE PAGE. Here was a book with men talking about having sex with each other. And I was reading it! And it was just casual and nonchalant. (Unfortunately they don't actually do it, to my young disappointment.) Despite all the queerness that i'd experienced (and recognized) already in the series, THAT was shocking.
You can't know what that was LIKE to a kid in 1992, before the internet was anything more than bulletin boards, before fanfiction online was really a thing. And these weren't niche novels, things only people in liberal literary circles read. They were massive, massive bestsellers.
IDK, you know. I have given Anne Rice a LOT of shit in my time, and she's deserved a lot of it. But she also performed some miracles of representation that affected a lot of people. IDK if I even have a point. Just. I was remembering what it felt like. To encounter a gay character in fiction for the first time, talk about gay sex for the first time.
I don't think it's an accident that me and my friend who shared this obsession both ended up being bi. We passed the books back and forth and pointed out the really juicy sections and other people were never quite as into these books as we were even when we made them read them.

I've seen people criticise triangle strategy's golden route as too convenient, too naïve, and one time as "the centrist choice", and I couldn't disagree more.
sure, it's annoying that you can only get the perfect option if you make some very specific choices earlier, some of which really don't fit together (I can't imagine why someone who would otherwise so consistently choose the (feasible) moral option would so easily choose to help smuggle salt with no knowledge of who's buying it or why). and it's extra annoying that roland's and benedict's absolutely disgusting takes are just swept under the rug like that.
but the fact that serenoa refuses to pick one of three questionable options because they're the ones presented to him, comes up with a way to deal with every issue at hand, and then convinces everyone else it can't not be attempted simply because it seems hard? I really, really loved that. I don't think there's anything centrist about it, I don't think it's so convenient if feels like a reach, and I don't think it's too naïve for a video game. maybe things would never work out like that in reality, but I don't subscribe to the idea that stories have to be as bleak as reality is or might seem, and if anything I think it's better when they aren't.
TLDR my smart kind and brave video game blorbo isn't a dirty centrist and there's nothing wrong with a happy ending 😤

I will never make this because it would be for an audience of one (me) but ever since reading "If we Were Villains" (story about serious drama kids in college who perform shakespeare and deal with a murder) I have been entertaining the thought of a crack fic crossover with High School Musical The Musical The Series where the staff decides they will no longer put on shakespeare after the tragic accident that happened at Thanksgiving, because Shakespeare plays would only increase the tension and drama. So they hire Ms. Jen who decides their spring play will actually be High School Musical (which exists in the 90s in this universe) and it ruins the vibe so much that everyone gives up on being dark and mysterious because they're universally pissed at Ms Jen for making them learn choreoraphed basketball dancing.
#if we were villains is actually genuinely good and has actual literary worth and pulls from shakespeare in an intelligent meaningful way#but unfortunately all i can do is comedy so this is the only fan content i have to offer :(#THE THING IS iwwv is just hsmtmts if it hsmtmts was good and also they committed crimes#they utilize the same parallel of casting choices with real life drama which I love#umm so casting: Meredith would be Sharpay Obvi. I think it would be really funny if James was cast as Ryan bc they hate eachother and would#have to pretend to be siblings working together. And I think ashley tisdale and Lucas Gabreel actually didn't get along when filming#also i love the thought of Ms Jen looking at James and going “i know what you are”#HOWEVER it would be more interesting if james was Chad to Oliver's Troy (which is really just reversing their Romeo and Juliet moment)#bc chad is like nooo don't do theater... stick with me and do basketball... but it would be Coded Subtextually#Unfortunately Wren would be typecast as Gabriella and I don't think that would cause drama bc I don't believe James actually liked her!#I think it was comp het bc she was very sweet and nonthreatening as opposed to Meredith's big flirting energy so she would be a “safe” crus#lets lean into that actually. this gives Wren a chance to have a personality (bc I enjoy this book but it is not good at fleshing out women#So oliver and Wren spend more time together and kind of talk about James a little and Wren is like yeah James is very sweet#and I like him but it feels so hard to get him to feel comfortable with me... i guess he's just closed off and doesn't talk much#we also get to see more of her personality and interests maybe she's like I relate to gabriella because I also like to Read :) feminism#and oliver is like Hmm That Is Not My Experience With Him perhaps our bond is deeper and James does like me Hm#And then Meredith can flirt with him as Sharpay and James gets pissed and in character gets very intense about how Troy can't join THEATER#that's why he's upset and sad bc sharpay represents theater and only that reason and nothing else and he isn't in love with oliver At All#Alexander can be Ryan now since James is Chad (and he's also Gay) and Filippa can be Kenzie bc they're both queer coded#Anyway at rehearsal one day Meredith and James and Oliver are having their fighting over troy moment and then Meredith stops and is like#wait guys. This musical is so freaking stupid. why are we even doing this#and their mutual frustration at their art being turned into a farce is enough to bond them together and they're like#we need to focus on our REAL enemy: ms Jen#and then they hatch a scheme and it's probably like. They dump a bucket of fake blood on her at opening night a la carrie#and then put on their own rebellious production... it still has to be a musical because i like musicals#families with children are in the audience and they're like OK FOLKS! HERE'S ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW!#if we were villains#iwwv#hsmtmts#high school musical the musical the series

Free will strikes again, these were some really fun doodles :3. I think Simon is allowed to be a little visual kei sometimes. Idk I just know he’d vibe with it. Explanations under a cut—
And also a couple unfinished doodles that were just intended to be rough pose/anatomy practice sketches, but ended up accidentally more detailed than intended 💀💀💀. It’s nothing graphic, but ⚠️slight artistic nudity warning⚠️ anyway in case d(>_< ).
Hehehe, this is based off of a photo from Malice Mizer live, it’s Simon in place of Mana and Fuma in place of Gackt. Very fun pose to draw!!! Especially cause it’s a pose with a whip and also cause idk why but I find poses with one or both arms up pretty easy to draw. And yeah yay, Fuma inclusion yippie :3!
I don’t have any other explanation for why this exists other than dresses are cool. So I made him one :D. The coord has a half caplet that connects to a shoulder paldron on the other shoulder by chain with a little cross. Under that there’s a blouse and skirt combo with patterns similar to his SQ armor and some rose thorn patterns around the ends of the sleeves and collar. Over that is a corset and under is a cage crinoline made to look like crosses peaking around the edge. Shoes carry outfit motifs like the roses on the bow tie and headdress and the lace throughout. Also, an eyepatch with cross on it because yeah, cute :3. I’d probably wear this if I had uh any skill in sewing at all (TwT ).
A not chibi version of the above outfit! Except probably without the crinoline with how the skirt fabric is sitting lol. Tbh I think Simon would probably be fine with this for a little bit and then get uncomfortable about having so many layers on. I don’t think he’d like tights at all 💀💀💀💀💀💀💀. Hmmm I’ll have to draw a version of it that’d be more comfortable for him hmm maybe tomorrow.
Another Simon holding Dracula’s heart artwork. Shout out to how this guy just carries this thing around for so long lol.
Simon facing off against his worst enemy: stairs! This one was practice drawing characters in backgrounds, since I’m so rusty at actually drawing those two things together (ToT ). I can draw a separate background fine, but the second I have to put someone in it I just completely forget what I’m doing XD.
This one is also a practice! He’s running up to the altar in Drac’s basement. The lighting was fun for this one, but I forgot to draw the whip in his hand 💀.
This one was an attempt at drawing a skeleton and keeping the same proportions in a drawing of someone (Simon) who is uh not a skeleton. Fun fact! It took me like 5 tries to get the skeleton to not just look like Papyrus Undertale cause holy heck do the skeletons from that game take a hold of some part of your art style and never let go 💀💀💀💀
CASTLEVANIA JUDGEMENT HAS HATS??? AS LIKE AN UNLOCKABLE?????????? So obviously I had to draw Simon (x2) with the bow options. Pink probs looks really nice with his hair tbh. And the striped bow was black and white so it fits with the Judgement design’s outfit. If I ever actually play this game again (I suck so bad at it), I’ll be trying to get these for the very important reason of Simon cute. :3
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ok now these two. The first one was a different attempt at that Mana pose, but a bigger scale and a bit less exaggerated. I ended up having to do a ton of edits to it cause I kept making things too big or too small lol. And the second one is just a couple dynamic posing practices. They’re also excuses to draw more arm up poses cause they’re fun X3. He was just supposed to have like a generic placeholder rectangle er um uh there, but some of the sketchy lines ended up looking like what’s supposed to be in that spot, so I just didn’t wanna risk these being on main tags out in the open 💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀. Though, tbh, I’ve seen more explicit things on the tags so eh, better safe than sorry tho (- w - )

MCFLY JULY ‘24 ⸺ 「 29 / 31 * 24 HOUR SCIENTIFIC SERVICES 」
March 1983, Twin Pines Timeline
“It’s hopeless, Doc. I’m never gonna figure out this chemistry stuff in time for the test tomorrow. Marty sighs heavily, dropping his pencil down on the table. His head follows suit barely a second later, his forehead thunking against the workbench. “Can we run through it again?”
Emmett sets the circuit board and screwdriver he’d been tinkering with down on the table, pushing the remnants of their late dinner aside. Burger King again, at Marty’s insistence, when their study session had gone well into the late evening and Marty’s growling stomach had reminded them both that—again—they’d forgotten to eat, lost in their own world. “It’s getting late, Marty. It’s already past eleven; you should get going, get some rest before the morning.”
“One more time, Doc—let’s just run through it again.” Marty lifts his head up and trains his big, pleading eyes full-force on Emmett. “I’ve almost got this balancing equations thing down. Let’s just do one more.”
He shouldn’t—he should send Marty on his way for the night, clean up their small mess, and turn his attention back to his own plans, work out a solution to the conundrum he’s been putting off and putting off until the moment was right. But Marty looks at him as if the entirety of his fate hangs in the balance of his answer and if he really is still having difficulties with this, he can’t very well turn him away when there’s still time to drill the material into the boy’s head.
But something tells him there’s far more to it than that.
“Alright, we’ll go through it one more time. But first I want you to let your parents know you’ll be staying late so they don’t wonder where you are or think I’ve kidnapped you for use in one of my nefarious experiments.”
Marty appears to visibly shrink into himself, confirming Emmett’s suspicions. A hundred and one questions leap to his lips but he keeps his mouth shut, waiting for Marty to answer. Something has been up recently—it has been written all across his face, in his eyes, clear as day after all this time getting to know him. Marty wears his heart on his sleeve and it didn’t take him long to understand all the boy’s little quirks and mannerisms, to know when to push and when to give him the space and freedom to open up on his own time and fall into a comfortable synchronisation that he can hardly imagine his days without, now.
Lately, he has been reluctant to leave even after spending all of his free time after school here, helping about with various tasks, practising his music, or even just sitting on the couch, working through his homework with his headphones on and Einstein curled up against his side.
He hasn’t pried yet. This, whatever it is, he knows Marty will open up about when he’s ready, but it’s enough to keep him from wanting to return home.
“Yeah, alright Doc. Dad might still be up.” Marty walks to the phone as if he’s being marched to the gallows. After a few minutes of silence with the receiver held up to his ear, he looks over as if to say well, I tried, only for his brows to fly up when someone must have finally answered.
“Dad? Yeah, it’s me, it’s Marty—no, I’m—I’m gonna stay at Doc’s place for a while. No—no, Dad! We’re in the middle of something big and Doc needs my help. Yeah. I’ve got them. Okay. I’ll see you tomorrow.”
Emmett raises a brow as Marty turns triumphantly away from the phone. “’In the middle of something big?’”
Marty rubs the back of his neck. “I—didn’t want to tell him why I was really here. Sometimes I think Dad gets disappointed that he can’t do everything, you know? He knows a lot of things about sci-fi, but he’s not a scientist and he doesn’t know a thing about chemistry. So I didn’t want him to feel bad that you were helping me.”
“Ah.” It’s a rather thoughtful lie on Marty’s part, all things considered, and not one he feels he has the personal experience to contest. “Alright, let me grab my blackboard and you read me out one of the problems you’re having trouble with.”
Emmett slides a few miscellaneous boxes out of the way in order to roll the blackboard over to the living area and Marty sits himself down on the couch, paper and pencil in hand. “You were working on combustion reactions, right?”
“Uh—yeah, I think so.” Emmett writes the equation down on the board as Einstein decides he, too, wants to hear the lesson and takes a seat on the couch, ever the attentive student. It has been years since he gave a lecture like this, even one as unofficial and impromptu as this, but he finds he slides back into the role of instructor quite easily, old habits returning with each stroke against the board.
His explanations are careful, methodical, and Marty has always been more of a visual learner, he’s noticed, easily picking up on things that are shown to him rather than learning through mindless lectures being thrown at him, so he accompanies his explanations with drawings, breakdowns of each individual molecule.
Once he’s arrived at the answer with all the work to show for it on the board, he turns back to Marty, finding the kid flopped over on the couch using Einstein’s back as a pillow. Emmett lifts the study sheet off his lap, grabs the pencil off the ground, and looks over the problems he’d already solved.
They’re all correct.
