Something I always wonder with the whole: "The lazy populous doesn't want to work!" is if it's only being said to keep minimum wage at the very, very lowest end of 'survivability.'
The "lazy worker" isn't truly a problem. The employers are.
#politics#this is my old man conspiracy theory#it's insane when you actually start job searching and you apply fucking Everywhere and it's crickets#job announcement: no experience required! we'll train you! you're actually PERFECTLY qualified#you apply and then NOTHING. and then you listen to the news or other people#and they complain about how 'lazy' the modern worker is and how employers are DESPERATE for people to work for them...#...and you'll end up knowing better if you haven't soaked up the individualist corporate shill propaganda i think...#...that propaganda (at least in the US) is the idea that the individual worker is always at fault...#...that if they never get a job - even 'entry-level' - that it is THEIR fault...#...if you don't want to work minimum wage get a maximun-effort job!!!!!...#...if you want to Get Hired then make yourself Hireable!!!!!!!!!...#...you must be Indispensable (but potentially for $7.25/hour)!!! it is Up To You!!!...#...make records! never ask for anything! never complain! never dare bite the corporate hand which feeds you!!!!!!!!#that's the type of shit i grew up with at least. and i cannot buy that it isn't propaganda in a world hostile to any layman#i wonder if the romanticized version of the 60s-70s working class in the US is completely true as well...#...i just wonder if we are idealizing a past which never truly occurred for the worker...#...simply because these tactics Aren't New and Aren't Considered Morally Reprehensible because of the Bottom Line#this last part is tangentially-related but i always question whenever people have rose-colored views of The Past

Reason #42542 why RWBY ending when it did is good, actually
You bet they would have spent whole Volume 10 moralizing about how Vacuo people are "unfair" and "evil" for hating on their literal oppressors being dropped into their Kingdom with no warning.
With Team RWBY literally flip flopping from their previous position about Atlas and how the Kingdom deserves to fall.
Because you see, once the story goes into the actual social dynamics of prejudice, the guys from Texas just CAN'T make the oppressed be in the right. It's suddenly about "balance" and "listening to both sides" and how "we all should unite against the LiterallyBasicallySatan in the big (literally)biblical apocalypse."
I don't even want to talk about how AWFUL the OPTICS are for this considering the literal real life doomsday cult about a certain land where an entire other nation got dropped onto the people who live there. RWBY ain't the show to EVER handle even fraction of that with sensitivity and respect.

ppg merch really confuses me. sometimes it'll be the original logo with reboot artwork, or the reboot logo with original artwork, or it'll be all reboot or all original. like why is it like that???
I have two theories:
1) They mix and match designs because they think that people who are used to the reboot designs and people used to the original designs will recognize the brand no matter which version they’re familiar with and will more likely purchase the product (which is stupid).
2) Whoever is running the brand sends all sorts of style guides to manufacturers and product designers, and because they aren’t fans and can’t tell the difference between designs, they just use whatever they think looks good (and this is bad because nobody in this situation is doing their job even remotely right).
There’s also the secret third theory where 3) they just think all consumers are also stupid and won’t notice. Which is incredibly insulting. That’s why I don’t buy products where they mix and match the designs.
Actually, tying in with the 3) theory, they could be doing this for market testing purposes. They might be trying to see if a particular combo of designs sells more product. This is also information they could potentially use for another reboot to make new designs more “marketable.” They’re also banking on whether or not your average consumer is savvy enough to know the difference between reboot/original designs… and I think unfortunately PPG normies (affectionate) don’t have the same knowledge as fans and will probably just buy something if it says “Powerpuff” and not care. ☹️
