Here i am, Lord.
Tumblr media
This picture is illustrated from Isaiah 6, one of the major prophets in the Bible. In verse 8, it warms my soul: God called, and Isaiah came with a "Hineni Spirit," which means "Here am I!" in Hebrew.
8 Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”
Isaiah shows the willingness to obey, responding with an eager "yes" to God's call, even without knowing what lies ahead. This trust is a reminder of the strength found in surrendering to a greater purpose.
Our Heavenly Father desires His children to reach out to Him and have a close and meaningful relationship with Him. He understands our hurt for connection and invites us to share our joys and struggles. In a world that can feel isolating, His love offers comfort and guidance, assuring us that we are never alone on our journey.
If we reflect on the Bible, we can see that those called by God, such as Abraham and Moses in the Old Testament, also responded with a Hineni spirit, saying back to Him, "Here I am."
GENESIS 22:1 Abraham’s Faith Confirmed 22 Now it came to pass after these things that God tested Abraham, and said to him, “Abraham!” And he said, “Here I am.” EXUDOS 3:4 4 So when the Lord saw that he turned aside to look, God called to him from the midst of the bush and said, “Moses, Moses!” And he said, “Here I am."
"Hineni" – God’s Declaration to His Children
"Hineni" is more than just the response of God's faithful servants—it is also a powerful declaration that God Himself makes to His people. It is His way of saying, "I am here. I am present. I am ready."
We see this assurance in Scripture, but in the book of Isaiah alone, God proclaims Hineni multiple times, declaring His presence, readiness to act, and unwavering care for His children.
Isaiah 52:6 “Therefore My people shall know My name; therefore in that day they shall know that it is I who speaks: Here am I.” Isaiah 65:1 “I revealed Myself to those who did not ask for Me; I was found by those who did not seek Me. To a nation that did not call on My name, I said, ‘Here am I, here am I.’” Isaiah 58:9 “Then you will call, and the LORD will answer; you will cry for help, and He will say: ‘Here am I.’”
Each of these verses reminds us that God is not distant or indifferent. He is near, alert, kind, and ready to respond when His people call.
No matter how broken, weary, or unworthy we feel, His answer stays the same: "Hineni—Here I am."

Embracing the Eternal Now: Cultivating Spiritual Presence in Daily Life
A Journey Through Mindfulness, Equanimity, and Spiritual Connection In the whirlwind of our daily lives, it’s easy to become consumed by the relentless pace of duties, responsibilities, and the constant barrage of information. The echoes of the past and the whispers of the future often tug at our attention, leaving us fragmented and seldom at peace. Yet, the present moment holds a profound…

Dear Lord, we thank You for giving us Your servant, St. David, as an example of holiness. Help us to imitate the devotion to You he showed through the many penitential practices he instituted in his monasteries and carried out in his own life. Amen.

Click the link to check out the music vid & sample of the main single from the upcoming album HINENI: L'Y"H (pronounced "Hee-neh-nee: Leh-YA"), Here I Am: Unto Y-h (spelled in English as 'Y, A, H,' a transliteration of the Hebrew hyphenation of the Tetragrammaton, G-d's name... This description's kinda long, huh). I tried uploading the original video, but tumblr won't let me.
I shot this music video while I was homeless lol, in two separate locations; my aunt's house in Denton, & my sister's apartment in Dallas, both in Texas. I used only my phone's camera & a flashlight; it was fun if nothing else. Album coming soon.

Who shall ascend into the hill of the Lord? or who shall stand in his holy place? There is no one but us. There is no one to send, nor a clean hand, nor a pure heart on the face of the earth, nor in the earth, but only us, a generation comforting ourselves with the notion that we have come at an awkward time, that our innocent fathers are all dead--as if innocence had ever been--and our children busy and troubled, and we ourselves unfit, not yet ready, having each of us chose wrongly, made a false start, failed, yielded to impulse and the tangled comfort of pleasures, and grown exhausted, unable to seek the thread, weak, and involved. But there is no one bus us. There never has been.

going to freak out about my bestie Daniel again by talking about headcanons but to me he's like. not only half-Armenian half-Irish (yes Molloy is an Irish surname but Eric is Armenian people. so what do we do we make the sensible choice and split the difference. put that shit in your fics my rep is lacking) but also Jewish. not necessarily practicing but yk. it's called his mother grows up in the US in a household where her father's Armenian Orthodox and her mother's Jewish and takes a little bit of both but mainly from her mother and then she meets his raised-Catholic nebulously-agnostic Irish-American father and gives shit a shot. and here's Molloy in the midst of it all, born to wreck marriages fail at parenting his own kids and get his shit absolutely fucking rocked by two vamps in the 70s

When God calls, He does not do so by way of universal imperatives. Instead, He whispers our name – and the greatest reply, the reply of Abraham, is simply hineni: ‘Here I am’, ready to heed Your call, to mend a fragment of Your all-too-broken world.

a collection of custom Jewish tattoo designs, 2020-2023
reminder: custom tattoo designs are for client use only. it's disrespectful to get an artist's work tattooed without permission, and incredibly so to steal a design that was made for someone else. if you're inspired by these, you can commission me to create something for you!
descriptions & details below
as a Jew with (Jewish) tattoos, i'm delighted whenever someone commissions me for a design that speaks to some core aspect of their personal relationship with Judaism. the first of these is an angelic meditation on the phrase "hineni" ("here i am") & its connection to fearless self-embodiment, the next two are illustrations for passages from the Talmud (one about being self-made, featuring the miraculous "first tongs", the other about the life cycle of Jewish demons), and the last is a more traditional tree of life with torah scroll.
if i had the time/money for a tattoo apprenticeship, i would love to learn & be able to do this work myself - as it stands, i'm honored to be part of it as a designer & grateful to the talented tattooers who have inked or will ink my pieces!
image descriptions:
an ink line drawing of a black heart with four angelic eyed wings, over a ring of flame around it and the word הנני
an ink drawing of a pair of tongs, with flames wrapping around them that contain the words ועשיתם אתם
an ink line drawing of a hyena skull, surrounded by thorns with a pair of bat wings above it and the letter ש
a vector drawing of a stylized tree with a torah scroll below it and the words עץ חיים היא
