my two cents on what kashi is that he is krishna. my evidence (as little as it is) is that krishna is often described/depicted as having blue skin and what does kashi wear?
Tumblr media
THISSSSSSSSS (I brightened & over exposed the screenshot to see it better)
AND his rings may symbolize his previous lives/reincarnations, which he calls "adventures" because, just like krishna, kashi is a chill and wise dude. Giving out advice and is obviously way more powerful than people assume

good god my obsession with infidelity is becoming a little bit concerning but hot women (so like all women) cheating on their mid-ass boyfriends/husbands with either their homoerotic girl best friend or "the other woman" in their relationship (who they used to scorn as cheap and a homewrecker as a scapegoat for the boyfriend's ungratefulness) ESPECIALLY in historical settings will always be a top tier trope for me and i will never not eat it up

Cambodia :
Seven-headed Naga King at the entrance of World's largest religious monument, Angkor Wat built by Hindu king Suryavarman II
Tumblr media
This is a huge temple complex located near Siem Reap in Cambodia. It was built by Khmer kings more than a thousand years ago. The complex has a large number of temples. The main temple is the only one that is well preserved. Other temples are in ruins. There is an international effort to restore some of the temples. The temples must have looked majestic when they were built.
A large stones were cut precisely and placed over each other without any bonding material to hold them together. The Khmer kings embraced Hinduism and Buddhism. The carvings are delicate and superbly detailed.

JTTWR Story Idea Directory
I was influenced by @digitalagepulao's recent post to list my own collection of story ideas.
These are set in the Buddo-Daoist disc world system of the original novel.
1) The Origin of Sun Wukong
This provides three fictional origins for the Monkey King based on my past research. He is ...
The spiritual offspring of supreme ape immortals who have served as teachers of countless mortal and divine beings, the later including the Buddha and Master Subodhi. The couple rebels against the heavenly hierarchy for failing to keep an ancient promise.
The offspring of an ancient evil who intentionally bred him to destroy the gods.
A former hot-tempered, Vajra warrior-like Bodhisattva who is exiled from paradise for killing a being who seemingly offended the Buddha. He is punished to ten lifetimes as a figure of great strength who is continually bested and forced by circumstances to protect something or someone weaker than him.
Each origin has pros and cons.
2) Immortal Warriors and Shaolin Monks
Master Subodhi's mountain is the training ground for an immortal monastic army similar to Shaolin. Monkey gains combat experience as a monk soldier.
3) The REAL Reason Subodhi Expels Sun Wukong
Sun's much, much older spiritual brothers and sisters attack him out of jealousy for quickly climbing the ranks of the immortal monastic army. Forced to defend his position, Monkey's anger drives him to take on a monstrous, 100,000-foot-tall cosmic form to defeat his opponents. Subodhi fears Sun's limitless potential and great anger will lead him down the path of villainy, so he uses the pine tree incident as an excuse to expel him.
4) The Reason for Sun Wukong's Rebellion
Subodhi warns Monkey to protect himself when mastering the "Multitude of Terrestrial Killers" (i.e. the 72 changes) because said deities are considered baleful stellar gods who bring bad luck and disease. But the Terrestrial Killers exploit a chink in his spiritual armor and feed him small suggestions that have compounding effects on his personality, making him increasingly egotistical and combative. This eventually leads to his rebellion against heaven.
These are set on our Earth.
1) Sun Wukong vs Heracles/Hercules
Heracles, the Buddha's protector, is called in place of Erlang to end Monkey's rebellion. After the latter attains Buddhahood at the end of the journey, the Tathagata asks the son of Zeus to escort Sun through the Greek world system.
See the 07-08-22 update (refer also to section 3 for background info):
2) A Realistic Retelling of Journey to the West
The story follows the itinerary of the historical monk Xuanzang, and the various episodes from the original novel take place both on the way to and coming back from India. The disciples are acquired during the initial journey; however, their order is reversed—Sha, Zhu, and then Sun.
The past punishments of the disciples are still the same. But Monkey's history is changed because Taoism didn't exist in ancient India. Instead of becoming an immortal, he is a Hindo-Buddhist rishi who rebels against heaven.
See updates here and here.

listen if we brat summer our way out of fascism I'll fuckin take it
#ravi rants#historically speaking the best way to shut down asshats that violate the social contract of tolerance is to mock them#idk man maybe I have a different perspective on all of this because I'm part of the desi diaspora#but like.... so Indians won't always obviously call out violations of social decorum#if you're making an idiot of yourself or you're making a scene. other people will stand by and let you do it.#my therapist and I talk about me coming from a high-context Asianic cultural background like I do a lot actually#because the thing about Indian decorum is that. like.#one. you protect yours. if your friend is actively intervening in on something there's a reason and it might be helpful#but two. if someone's breaking decorum.... we allow them to do so in order to figure out why.#if someone's ex is crashing a wedding and successfully gets the floor they'll get heard out#and everyone will be paying attention#because the thing is those kinds of overt violations of decorum usually happen for a reason....#Indian soap operas are A Lot™ but listen. a party might be the right time to call someone out on being abusive or manipulative#because the whistleblower can be escorted away to safety by them and theirs.#and usually you have to be able to know enough decorum to get to the point where you make a scene#and Indians respect the hustle. we'll hear you out.#the Hindu gods are notorious for being like 'alright smart guy. here's your wish.'#the gods will readily admit if they've been outwitted#but you're an idiot if you think you'll get away with fucking with the natural chaos of samsara and karma forever :)#however. there's also Hindu parables of asuras and dumbass humans realizing they fucked up and taking the L with grace#and the gods respect that#but lol. fascists aren't respectful.#Richard Spencer shut the fuck up after we all saw him get punched#conservatives are having a mental breakdown over being called weird while insisting that a cis woman is a man#and I'd like to remind everyone that the social role of a court jester is to keep everyone humble#bc dude. if you're getting butthurt over the clown ribbing you. maybe calm the fuck down? look in the mirror?#you may be a king but the larger the seat you hold#the better your toilet plumbing should be

Me: so, in the game Lobotomy Corporation, eleven of the thirteen characters are named after the ineffable Kabbalistic Sefirot, and a lot of other things within the game, from its lore to its mechanics, draw on similar elements.
Aleister Crowley: you went to the MOON?
Me: so, do you think that representing "Netzach" as a defeated alcoholic serves to underscore the idea that the characters are, in fact, headed away from their objective, since "victory" itself has become dejected, and they're all introduced from Malkuth and then down the Tree instead of up?
Aleister Crowley: the MOON in the fucking SKY???

Bring Arthurian legend into the crossover
Okay so we know that Merlin is immortal, and will remain so until Arthur rises again (only in one of the versions of the myth tho but anyhoo). So he's basically an Arthurian chiranjeevi. What if he meets the Hindu Chiranjeevis and they like have a chat and stuff.
So Arthur is said to rise when Albion (England basically) needs him the most, just like Kalki. So what if Kalki and Arthur's timelines match, and they like meet each other and become besties.
Shjsskks just a thought. Also, even better if the Knights of the Round Table could be immortals as well, along with Guinevere :(
OMGG THAT WOULD BE SO PERFECTTTT
Arthurian Chiranjeevi lol 😭
But like there's a lot of time before Kalki and Arthur's birth
So a lot of time for Merlin to roam around the word and yk befriend all the chiranjeevis
Like now that I think does all the Chiranjeevi have this annual meet up or what? Like meeting once a year to discuss eachother's life...
They should definitely be friends yk! Like image... Parashuram and Merlin arr buddies and they like bring a toddler Kalki and an toddler Arthur to the meet-up abd they instantly become bros (lmao Idk why I said toddlers but yeah..)
What if the Knights are yk... Also taking birth again somehow...
Also also same goes to Guinevere, like she can also reincarnate jumt like Padmavati :3

Kirtimukha from Hindu and Buddhist mythology.
The story of Kirtimukha begins when a great king Jalandhara, who "by virtue of extraordinary austerities ... accumulated to himself irresistible powers."In a burst of pride, he sent forth his messenger, the monster Rahu, whose main task is eclipsing the moon, to challenge Shiva. "The challenge was that Shiva should give up his shining jewel of a bride Parvati." Shiva's immediate answer was to explode a tremendous burst of power from his third eye, which created a horrendous, emaciated, ravenous lion. A terrified Rahu sought Shiva's mercy, which Shiva agreed to. But how then were they to feed the ravenous demon lion? "Shiva suggested that the monster should feed on the flesh of its own feet and hands." So Kirtimukha willingly ate his body starting with its tail as per Lord Shiva's order, stopping only when his face remained. Shiva, who was pleased with the result gave it the name Face of Glory and declared that it should always be at the door of his temples. Thus Kirtimukha is a symbol of Shiva himself.
Some authors have compared the Kirtimukha with the Greek myth of Ouroboros.
