04/June/2022// Day2/14 of productivity streak
So the test went Better than my expectations but in a different way. Ugh can't explain, forget it. Anyways, Today I'm making this chart to ease some pain of learning animal kingdom. Honestly it's a read-learn-forget-repeat cycle for me. So making a chart might help.
Also, today is my backlog day, so I gotta complete electrostatics and revise current electricity. And some organic chemistry as well. Ik it sounds a lot but I've done bits of these chapters beforehand so there isn't that much to do. Idk if I'm making any sense but that's my to do list for today lol.

It’s Friday! I’m really tired as I’m typing this bcs I only got five hours of sleep and it’s already bright and sunny outside which means there’s no way I can go back to sleep. I don’t know why, but when it’s hot and sunny, I need to do things bcs, otherwise, I feel icky. Anywho, here’s an update on how my shelf looks like! There’s more books that didn’t fit so they’re somewhere else, but don’t let these books fool you bcs I’ve probably only read like five so far. Also, the missing book in between They Both Die At The End and Meditations is The Song of Achilles, haha. When I took the picture, the book was safely tucked somewhere else as I attempted to collect the fragments of my broken heart. Yes, you read that right.
For two days straight, I’ve been working on a Patrochilles edit and I’ve finally finished it last night! Honestly, I just love the feeling of being inspired and engaging in creative projects and it’s so wonderful to see things come together. I’m someone who’s very imaginative and often see the world as a romantic and dreamy landscape (or at least I try to) so I’m always creating stories in my head, thinking abt abstract and philosophical ideas, and getting inspired by so many things. I’ve also realized that it’s almost exactly a month until I have to leave for my pre-college summer program and I’m very stressed out. Also, I might reread The Song of Achilles again one last time just so I can finally move on to another fiction book? I guess we’ll see what happens; stay tuned, folks. I hope y’all have a relaxing weekend and prioritizing your needs!! 🤍✨

First of all, happy new year to everyone! I’m sorry I haven’t posted for the past few weeks, I’ve just been tired and overwhelmed lately T-T. Like, I’ve turned in all my college apps but the wait is literally destroying my mental health more and more every day. Ugh, I can’t wait until it’s over.
I’ve been working on my mental health lately tho, and I think I’m (slowly!) getting a bit better! Yesterday was a bad night (I stayed up until like 3 am listening to sad songs and writing fanfics ;-;) and for like two hours this morning I couldn’t even get out of bed, but I encouraged myself to get up and I lowkey just romanticized everything I did, from brushing my teeth to washing my face and it just felt super peaceful. I’m definitely gonna start doing it more often.
I also moved back into school on Sunday! We started out virtual last week bc of COVID and moved back in this week. We have J-Term, so I’m taking a course called Encounters with Trees rn where we basically learn how to identify trees and walk around nature parks and all for a few hours each day. Even though it’s extremely cold and my legs are really achy by the end of it, I’ve really enjoyed them because they give me time to just let my mind wander and think.
I’m also slowly chipping away at my New Year’s Resolutions! My main ones are to lose weight (which I’m currently doing!), work on my mental health and reduce my screen time. I’ve realized that the main reason why I spend so much time on my phone daily is because I read on it, and I’m thinking of asking my mom for a kindle instead of an IPad so I can reduce my phone usage :))
Oof, that was pretty long! I hope you all are doing well, and I’ll see you next week! Byeee ☁️

Why I love Anna Karenina ?
“All happy families are alike; each unhappy family is unhappy in its own way.” So begins the 816 pages long tale that brightened my two and a half months and will always have a special place in my heart. Before I embarked on the journey of perusing this masterpiece, I found out that it is hailed as one of the best novels of human history!! A huge honor now I vehemently believe it deserves. Let me tell you why:
Plot:
Of a few 100’s of novels I have read in my 17 years of existence, not a single novel I’ve read with such a brilliantly crafted, so close to reality plot. It’s just exactly how life unfolds. Just a perfect portrayal of humanity in all its shades and life with all its pains. The story of Anna and Levin’s life is so perfectly balanced and juggled like I’m really in awe.
Characters:
Very few novels, I reiterate, very few novels have characters that are three dimensional, that are so real that it’s hard to believe that they are, in fact, figments of author’s imagination. And the best part is even the most unimportant characters are explored in much detail so they don’t look like paper cut 2D statues in the background. They are as real as protagonists.
Narration :
I don’t know Russian and yet I experienced the genius of Tolstoy’s narration seeping through the pages I wonder how wonderful it would be to read the original text. When a scene begins, you are not a distant observer . You are thrown into the chaos as well as into the mind of one of the characters and reading becomes so fulfilling!!
Metaphors :
It had, without any doubt, the most ingenious and unique metaphors that were so relatable two centuries later!!! There was a scene where Vronsky comes across a painter and the painter really dislikes his passion for art and the example the writer gives is of kissing a plastic doll and acting like it was real lmaaoo
The Irony :
This really did the trick for me. The desire to be with your loved ones is universal but what if it comes at a cost? Although both protagonists unite with their loved ones, one’s life goes uphill while other’s goes downhill but it’s so well written that you realize this only after you’re done reading it.
Relatability and Realism :
It is a story drenched in realism but it still made my heart flutter and it still made me cry and laugh out loud and All characters were humans, in the literal sense of the word and I identified myself with each one of them in one way or the other and it was quite comforting to know that humans are always the same.Always.
“I think... if it is true that there are as many minds as there are heads, then there are as many kinds of love as there are hearts.” -Leo Tolstoy, Anna Karenina

Finally finished reading this book so a photoshoot is due~
8/10 love the intricate world building and beautiful writing.
More thoughts below, might contain spoilers:
It's cool how the chapters are organised by region, not character, so eventually the storylines converge when they are in the same region. It's a cool change from usual methods of writing with more than one main protagonist, since they are usually separated by POV
Besides the obvious strong female characters and LGBTQ protagonists, I think it's a nice touch to have for once a protagonist that isn't 17 years old. Tunuva's like 50?
The three protagonists show a nice contrast in terms of characterisation. For example, it's easy to see the alignments and contrasts between how Tunuva, Siyu and Glorian thinks due to their age, experiences, and responsibilities.
Canthe/Kalyba is creepy af but somehow still quite human
Parallels in the ending: for example, to avoid civil war, the Nozikens give up their ruling, but the Berethnets must hold on to it
Should have seen Dumai and Kanifa falling together coming, and they did fall together. But also T_T no time for grief in war
I'm surprised at how I eventually started rooting for Dumai and Nikeya when I first started out being icked by it (she's a Kuposa cmon Dumai). Dumai and Nikey taking enemies to lovers too seriously, and Shannon writes enemies to lovers too brilliantly
Pacing is still an issue for me. Took me a while to get through the first half because I felt it was a little slow, and like the characters, I couldn't really feel the stakes yet. It's a vague shadow looming on the horizon. It only picks up after Glorian's parents died, imo.
I'm surprised Canthe didn't get to eat the fruit, somehow.
In some ways it's a bit of a tragedy, despite the happy ending. No matter what the characters did, they would eventually be defeated by the wyrms without the comet. The comet did come in the end, but if it hadn't it would be an entirely futile quest
NEITHER TUNUVA NOR ESBAR DIED THANK GOD
It's nice to see how both Glorian and Siyu matured in parallel
