Steve barely makes it out alive, nearly crushed by the rush of reporters straining against the human wall of security. Seemed superfluous to have uniforms manning the event for the likes of them but in that moment he's grateful. Guess something familiar like the boys in blue really do act as a better deterrent.

That didn't exactly go their way in there. The repercussions could be more than a little restrictive, government eye keeping a closer watch, their fingers wiggling in to fit where they shouldn't. He has a feeling this is all going to go downhill pretty fast and it's going to suck but...

He knows one person it's going to suck more for so he's putting on his Leader Hat and making his way through the hallways for the one place he knows he's going to find him any time of day.

Sure enough, the bar is empty save for the slumped figure of one man. Suit jacket stretched tight over a broad back, half emptied drink raising to pursed lips and a bottle of something heavy he can smell from the doorway popped open at his side.

Steve sighs and finds the seat next to him, turning the stool to fully face his companion. Might be too drunk to recognize there's anyone next to him but it doesn't matter, he's taking the drink from that wavering hand that looks too heavy for him to hold up any longer and setting it aside.

"Tony..." No response. Alright, okay, might be worse than he thought both ways. The bartender's thankfully keeping to himself but that angled ear tells him he's listening real hard looking for something juicy to gossip about later. Not like it's news that Tony likes the hard stuff, and this isn't the earliest he's been knockout drunk before.

But while Happy's cleaning out the place, shooing everyone to their rats nests to frantically type out their articles and send the latest non-news to every stoop in New York, Steve's got one hell of a job to do and Tony's going to be a brat about it every step of the way. He can feel it in his bones.

"Hey, Tony?" There's a hand in the short brown locks that curls short cut nails against his scalp, a little nudge to get those poor me honeyed pools to look at him. Nothing. Not even a shrug of his shoulders to dislodge his hand. Oh boy...

This time he's not prodding, he's taking the incentive and reaching with both hands to turn Tony's stool to face him in return, catching those slumped shoulders to work his way right up to the curve of his jaw. He's on his feet, adding a few more inches to his height, and lifting.

Tony stares back at him with his version of that kicked puppy look Steve hates cause it's a surefire downward spiral from there. This is his way of an apology without ever saying. Steve nods and his thumb dips below the man's chin, holding him steady while he fixes his hair and gets a good look at the whites of his eyes. Alright it's bad but not beyond saving.

"Don't worry about it, it's not the end of the world. So you pissed off the government. Y'know how many times I did that back in the 40's? They'll get over it. Promise." And by government he specifically means Ross. Who is more than capable and all too eager to make Tony's life a living hell.
