the curse only worsens over time. isabella intends to hold off as long as she can and hopes that will be enough, but eventually her body won't be able to handle the depth and agony of her hunger and she'll become ravenous, incapable of stopping herself. she's already experienced some loss of control - almost eating her long-term boyfriend which resulted in her eye half-changing. that made the potential of her transformation more real because if the man she loved more than anyone ( besides her sister ) wasn't an exception to the hunger, what possibly could be?

becoming a vegetarian helps as the hunger is sped up by meat consumption but there have been a few times that she breaks and eats the meat prosper keeps for herself, ripping it out of the freezer and eating it raw and still hard. it's shameful and she makes herself throw it up once the haze is clear, but it's a dark vision of what's to come if she doesn't give into the curse on her own terms.

obviously annabeth is always playing chess while the rest of camp is playing checkers but the way she watches percy in the bathroom scene and says she's been waiting to see if "something like this" would happen to see if she wanted him for capture the flag, and you think she means something that will confirm his godly parent and show he's a powerful asset to the team, but then you get to capture the flag and annabeth positioning him as bait for clarisse and it's like oh, the "this" she was waiting for was actually just him beefing with clarisse so she could use their vengeance to keep them from winning the game. and THEN she pushes him into the water to confirm his godly parent because she knew all along. she fuckin played him so good she even played us so good that's MY daughter of athena

This is now my favourite scene in the entire MCU, and you can't convince me otherwise.

He has literal tears in his eyes; he had no idea if he would make it, but he still took the risk just to save his friends, and look at him now! An actual selfless hero and one of, if not the most powerful being in the entire MCU! Frigga would be so proud ♡♡♡
