The crossover I didn’t know I desperately needed but do indeed desperately need, & thanks to Tears of the Kingdom, we do have Bomb Flowers & all manner of projectiles for Ingo to throw at baddies, or to Link in a pinch! 💣

I’d go back to their original comic now & again (partially because Legends Arceus really reminds me of BotW), where Moth imagines Ingo in BotW Hyrule with the popularly feral Link. In this AU of their AU it’s more or less the same, except Link is cured of his amnesia, & wants to help Ingo with his, as well as help him go home.

Eldritch Kidnappings

hmmmm a Kon/Danny/Tim idea? Maybe? Depends if anyone wanna ship all three but leaving it open ended (or if Tim is already dating Bernard just make it a Kon/Danny only?). AND a deaged Ellie.

Red Robin and Superboy (the original) were at a JL meeting. It was boring to be honest. Nothing to much was happening besides the normal stuff for all the heroes there. No big crises or world/universe ending danger.

Or at least it was...

Because not soon after a glowing green portal ripped opened and a large eldritch creature stuck its huge head and half of its body out. Every hero there went on high alert and into fighting stances, ready to defend the Watchtower. Once the creature was halfway in the room its eyes snapped opened, glowing near Lazarus Pit green colored but like brighter? neon?, and darted around the room before stopping right on Superboy.

Without warning or words the creature quickly reached out, using at first two arms/hands before more sprang out and swatted away heroes in the room that attacked. It quickly took a hold of Superboy who tired use his strength to get free but found the being stronger than him. Red Robin, in a panic to save his best friend (and crush, shhh maybe) quickly joined in but instead of being swatted away like the others gets snagged by a hand and soon found himself captured as well.

Just as quickly as the creature appeared, it retreated back into the still open portal, dragging the two with and not caring at all of the powers, fists, or shouting being thrown at it.

Then it was gone.

Leaving the JL in a panic.

"-And thats why I need your help! I understand its a lot to ask but please, any help will be welcomed." the eldritch being, or rather Danny Phantom begged as he worriedly glanced at them.

So... It turns out the eldritch being was a young halfa ghost hero named Phantom that needed their help stabilizing his clone/sister/maybe daughter?

She was apparently melting and needed stable DNA when he had rushed her to a ghost doctor and was told. But Danny had no clue how to stabilize a clone and the fruitloop that cloned him the notes were bare bones and frankly terrible. In his desperate need for help Danny had sought out clues/advice from his mentor who basically pointed him to Superboy and Red Robin in his frustrating riddling way.

Superboy's DNA had the stable cloning gene/code they needed. Red Robin was smart enough to help figure out a way to put it Danielle 'Elle' Phantom. (it also helped that he had dabbled into cloning during his... bad year)

So yeah, Danny in his panic to save his clone went full on eldritch monster and opened a portal during their meeting and dragged them to the Far Frozen where Ellie was currently suspended in a ecto healing pod and was now begging for their help, promising them anything if they helped out.

The catch? If they put Superboy's DNA in Ellie she'll de-age to her true age and no longer be a 'pure' clone.

Instead she'll be their (Danny and Conner's) kid.

In the countless years since Pariah Dark’s defeat, the rumors of his strength have grown far past the truth. Yes, he was quite strong, but not the ultimate godlike force some places came to view him as.

So when news came out that a young ghost named Phantom had taken down Pariah and earned the throne by right of conquest, his strength was thus hyped up by extension. Surely, they think, such a warrior must be truly unmatched to have beaten a god like Pariah Dark—especially considering Phantom’s youth.

…and then some people summon King Phantom, and he offhandedly mentions losing sparring matches with his family/friends.

So now people are terrified of just how powerful those people must be to easily match a godslayer like Phantom…

Another Peter who knows Gwen usually dies across universes, so he doesn’t get close to the one in his universe, but still somewhat keeps an on her

Anyways, he does end up saving her life at some point, protecting her from some villains who seem to be targeting her for whatever reason

But as Peter Parker, not Spidey

And it turns out Gwen has a hero identity, and feels so bad that this civilian got hurt helping her and starts paying close attention to Peter now, who was trying not to get close to her/gain her attention, and definitely doesn’t want his secret identity accidentally getting exposed

Din Djarin didn't want to rule Mandalore, so he didn't. He didn't force himself into a "calling" or "destiny" he didn't want. Instead, he found a decent Mandalorian who wanted to reunite the people and reclaim Mandalore, found a way to make said Mandalorian the Mand'alor, and supported the people's efforts to unite and take back their homeworld.

Hunter, Wrecker, Tech, Echo, and Omega rebelled against the Empire by refusing to align themselves with the new system, and Crosshair eventually joined them. Echo felt the need to "do more" and wanted to commit full time to much larger-scale endeavors; but the others didn't want to do that, so they didn't. Instead, they supported Echo and Rex by giving them a standing offer to help when needed, and they helped with much smaller-scale efforts when and where they could.

I just love that these stories show that you can still be a good person, a hero, even if you decide your priority is to focus on raising/training your kid instead of ruling, even if you decide you're not going to join the Empire (a dangerous decision in and of itself) but you're not going to go out of your way to pick fights with them either, even if you decide you're going to retire and give your kid/sister a chance at a relatively peaceful childhood instead of staying in the bigger fight.

Many times, heroics occur on a more personal basis.

And we need the small-scale heroes as much as we need the larger-scale ones.

Aliens don't exist in tbhx

a lot of people are accepting Professor Luo and his Glimmer labs' thoughts on the wreckage at face value, i personally believe he's wrong

yes, the technology is something they havent seen before, so they come to the conclusion that it's aliens like it seems on the surface. Yet, we've seen phenomenon that doesn't fit in the mainstream worldview of tbhx in the past. We've still yet to hear more on the aether labs, X's powers are seemingly unrelated to the traditional trust system, theres so much the individuals of tbhx don't understand about their own world, why should we trust them that aliens exist rather than the ship just being more technology they haven't heard of?

i think the most likely thing is that the ship technology is related to X. I personally believe once we learn X's backstory, we'll learn that the "alien technology" is anything but that.

Fanfic Hunting Strategy!! Help?

I'm starting to observe my own patterns when I hyperfixate on new media (Star Wars isn't new, but I took a multi-decade hiatus, so... stuff has happened):

FIRST I imprint on some characters and gnash my teeth about how I wish I could die for them.

THEN I find every appearance they've ever made and try to consume the majority.

THEN I ponder -- who would be the most Emotionally Devastating character for them to love, and starting shipping them and hunting for crumbs (inclusive, there can be many loves that cause unbearable anguish).

I poke through some of the most popular fics, feel delight, remember how much I adore fic and its writers. But then I usually hit a wall. Ao3 is a miracle, but finding writing that appeals to my specific tastes is tough! For others who are weirdly picky... what do you do?

I'm into understated writing. Adverbs used sparingly. Wry and dry. The sort of thing many readers find a LEETLE bit boring or unsatisfying. And tone and style aren't exactly things you can tag!

So share your secrets with me, please??? So far my best angle has been stalking the writers I like for their other works, and then poring through their bookmarks like they're a rec list. Any other suggestions?
