Severance 1x04 “The You You Are” | The Banshees of Inisherin

[Caption: on the left, there’s a scene from the show Severance. Helly, entering Cobel’s office with a sharp office tool, threatens to cut her fingers if she’s not given a video camera to record a resignation for her outie. Cobel tries to calm her down while Mr. Milchick observes, but Helly puts the tool down on the desk quickly, shocking Cobel, with her four fingers placed in it. On the right, in The Banshees of Inisherim, Colm tells Pádraic that he has a set of shears at home, and he’s decided that each time Pádraic bothers him from then on, he’s going to use them to cut one of his own fingers. Pádraic, the owner of the pub they’re in, and another patron look shocked, while Colm continues: he’ll give those finger, a finger from his fiddle hand, to Pádraic, until he sees sense and stops or until Colm has no fingers left. He finish off asking if that makes things clearer to Pádraic.]

More Festivids recs!

There’s still, uh....*checks watch*....five hours until reveals, so now that I finally have a morning to myself I thought I would toss some more recs out there. I have 45 vids bookmarked and love so many of them, but here are a few favorites:

Where Did You Sleep Last Night (Doctor Sleep): Spooky and intense!

ENERGY (Everything Everywhere All at Once): Flawless editing, tons of pizzazz, and a wonderful highlight of my favorite scene (the Waymond fanny pack fight scene)!

Higher Love (Everything Everywhere All at Once): This one is about all the love and all the humanity and all the feelings in the movie and it just overwhelms me. It makes me have so many feelings about hot dog!verse!

Kinky (How to Build a Sex Room): I’ll admit, I had to peace out on the source due to secondhand embarrassment, but this is such a fun and joyful look at all the best parts of the show! Everyone is having so much FUN.

20 Years (Jumanji): A masterful combination of the original film and the new films, that uses the sometimes silly source to tell a very emotional story about lost time.

The Cartographer (Jumanji): I have way too many actual, sincere feelings about Jack Black playing a teenage girl and this vid hits every one of them. What a great song for Bethany!

Dangerous Woman (Love and Leashes): Okay, uhhhhhhh, I NEED to see this source. This is so sexy and I love the way it centers the female character’s story arc and the way she comes into her own! I also really enjoyed the other vid for this movie, “Smile.”

Gimme More (Nope): “They keep watching.”

Get This Podcast Started (Only Murders in the Building): I was just cracking up from start to finish!

Dance With Somebody (Rocky): There was such a bonanza of homoerotic ‘80s cheese this Festivids! I also loved the other two Rocky vids in the collection. (And loved that all three of them focused on Apollo Creed, my fave.)

Free. (Severance): Helly R., my beloved.

The Working Dead (Severance): Manages to capture an immense feeling of dread and tremendous horror movie vibes using just an hysterical song choice.

Tom Paine’s Bones and Wannabe (Talk of the Town): Two (two!!!!) amazing vids about one of my favorite OT3s!

Butterflies & Hurricanes (Taskmaster UK): I mean, it’s the bonkers constructed reality vid of the exchange. What else is there to say about this masterpiece.

Loser (Taskmaster UK): I could watch these people lose all day. Great lyric matching.

Sleeping in Your Garden (Thoroughbreds): Wonderfully edited and very creepy. This movie really wormed its way into my brain when I saw it and this vid captures everything I like best about it.

Finally, all of the terrific League of Their Own vids—all about different characters!—have convinced me I need to get around to watching that show.
