The thing that gets me about severance is that it's a horror story from both sides

Imagine existing numbing yourself to every mildly unpleasant experience, surgically removing every emotion that you don't want to deal with, sanitizing your own life

And imagine only having those experiences, existing only to perform the social duties another version of yourself didn't want to deal with, living in a body that is not really yours, being forbidden from experiencing complexity

They're both victims to the same tragedy, that you can't possibly be whole without both

In the end outie Mark didn't think of his innie as a real person, he didn't understand that his feelings were as real as his own. For him reintegration is just remembering what he did at work. He thought he could go on with his life and that his innie would be ok with that or would just have to obey him.

But thing is, they are the same and they're both real. Mark Scout would do anything for Gemma, but Mark S. would never leave Helly. They are the same man! They love with the same intensity!! He should have known.

idk about y’all but i really really really want to see more devon and mark s.!! the absolute turmoil that his existence must cause in devon’s heart and mind because she loves her brother so much and she wants what’s best for him but whereas before meeting mark s. she could have advocated for him leaving lumon, now she is fully aware of mark s. and how he looks at her with sad innocent hopeful eyes that remind her of a younger mark, how could she want him to get hurt? how could she want him to die? he’s her brother.

i can't get over how mark's innie deals with grief the same way his outie does. innie mark throwing the photos of petey away. leaving irv's funeral early. outie mark getting severed to avoid dealing with gemma's death. somewhere in mark scout's core is the instinct to run away when he has to deal with loss and that makes me craaaazyyyyyyyyyy
