Paths Decades Challenge SaveFile - 1890
As a historical simmer, the Decades Challenge is my favorite but building and organizing the worlds can be so tiring. That’s why I’ve started a NoCC Savefile to make things easier!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lot: Bramblewoods Gallery ID: Pathesis Lots title: The Doyle Cabin 1890 Household title: Doyle Legacy - 1890 NoCC
DL on Patreon(Always Free) OR SFS OR the Gallery
I’ve resurrected the original family and made them completely CC-free, even giving their original home a fresh 2025 revamp!
My plan for this save file is to dedicate each world to a specific decade, making it easy for anyone to create a family and drop them in. The entire save will be CC-free, but I’ll be using all the packs TS4 has to offer—so keep that in mind!
I hope this will be helpful to someone once it’s finished. :) The first world being worked on is 1890s Henford-on-Bagley

Orphan Black: Echoes showrunner Anna Fishko on bringing back Tatiana Maslany:
Fishko reveals that Maslany was approached about returning, but because of scheduling conflicts she was unable to do so. But the showrunner says: "We tried and we thought about it, we had a little episode for her to return that we were sort of holding onto for a while, but in the end it just didn't work out, which was too bad." When asked if she'd like to see Maslany return as one of her Orphan Black characters in future, Fishko adamantly says: "I'd love to see her come back." The challenge now, then, will be on viewers to make that come to be.

I genuinely believe the live action Cinderella is not only the best live action Disney has made but also it's one of the best films of the last 20 years period!
Tumblr media
Gif credit: @omniavincitamor
Now there's many reasons for this but on my latest rewatch I was struck by how perfectly it balances between being a children's movie for little girls to watch at their pajama parties with friends and being the kind of movie like Pride and Prejudice that grown women sit together and drink wine while they watch and swoon over the hero and the dresses and cry at the emotional parts.
It is simultaneously a film any adult can appreciate while still capturing all of that wholesome childhood joy and Innocence. And Ella perfectly captured those two things too. She keeps her child's heart that believes in goodness and magic but also she's growing up. Lily played the part perfectly, all those little moments where she's kinda astonished by her proximity to the prince and what that's making her feel. She calls herself "just a girl" but she's also feeling woman feelings and her portrayal of growing up is really beautiful because it doesn't make it seem like a bad thing. So much media makes the end of childhood seem sad but Ella brings the best of childhood with her into her unfolding adulthood as we watch her grow up.
Also the foley artists/sound editing also did a MAGNIFICENT job with the sound effects. Because while they could have just had the sweeping score for the waltz with none of the ambient sound, instead you get all those swishes of the skirt and caught breaths which adds so much texture and intimacy to the dance. Like the sexual tension between Ella and Kit is at 11 in all the scenes at the ball and afterwards (Richard's blue eyes doing 80% of the work there) but it's still innocent. This isn't a children's film trying to "get away" with mature themes. It's the kind of film you could use to explain adult feelings to children coming up on puberty in a way that wouldn't make them feel shameful or dirty. It's Wholesome Sexual Tension. Which is something there is far too little of in modern cinema.
It's both a film for grown ups and a film for children and it didn't cut corners to accomplish both. It's equally both and they didn't kiddie-ify the adult parts like the abuse or the grown-up feelings Ella and Kit have for each other but nor did they try to make it an adult themed film. It is still a princess movie but it's one for grown ups as much or more than it is for little girls and that's beautiful. I for one find it deeply healing for my inner child and my adult self and I feel I'm not the only one.
Also the costuming is immaculate even on background characters with no speaking roles. Literally could not get better costumes. I could talk about this movie forever but I'll stop now and probably make more posts about it in future

Sparrow
Chapter 1 - Two Birds, One Stone
Read on AO3
Contains: Canon typical violence and death
Chapter Index - Next Chapter >
~1.1k - MDNI - 18+
Tumblr media
It begins, as it so often does, with a deal gone wrong.
Morgan hears it, rather than sees it. The crack of gunfire, her mother’s shout. She doesn’t do as she was told to do, which is start the engine and run. She takes the big scoped rifle and loads it, and jumps out of the plane. There’s a snow drift nearby. She runs across and sets up the rifle. Five shots. Six men.
They’re laughing, jostling each other, pleased as punch that they have their weapons, and the North Wind, and kept their money. Morgan understands enough Russian to hear that her mother isn’t dead, not yet, but what else they’re saying, the way they’re saying it, makes her feel sick with anger.
She lines up her first shot. Two ugly birds, one bullet. She’s done this a thousand times, but never with a human target. A deep breath. Hold. Squeeze the trigger.
Their heads explode into a fine red mist.
She pulls back the bolt, and the spent case pops out into the snow with a sizzle. Another breath, another squeeze, before they have time to figure out where the shot comes from. Another man down. They’re panicking now. Shouting. She pulls back the bolt, and another spent case pops free. The next shot blows through a man’s shoulder. He falls, but Morgan doesn’t think he’s dead. Two men start coming her way. Another shot, this one through the gut of the first man.
The second one sees her. Morgan hugs the rifle and rolls down the snowbank in time to avoid the spray of bullets from his machine gun. She rolls to her feet and runs, circling around towards where the others fell. They have vehicles that can give her some cover. She rolls underneath one truck and pulls back the bolt.
He drops down to look under the first vehicle. Morgan fires. He doesn’t get back up.
A hand grabs her ankle and pulls her out while she kicks wildly. She manages to connect, but it’s a glancing blow, not enough to make the man let go. He’s dripping blood from the hole in his shoulder, and snarling like a wild animal. His expression doesn’t soften when he sees how young she is, he just rips the rifle from her hands and tosses it to the side. Points his own gun at her chest.
Morgan closes her eyes, waiting for him to pull the trigger. Four shots. One line of fire through her arm. She opens her eyes.
The man keels to the side, his head a mess of blood and bone and brain. She looks over, and her mother, Helena, is leaning heavily on the crates, her pistol in her hands. Good job, baby,” she says. “Lets get this cleaned up.”
They patch themselves up first, and collect the bags of cash. They leave the guns, so that whenever someone higher up comes along to check on the dead men, they’ll see that they had kept up their end of the bargain.
Helena hands Morgan the pistol. She’s panting, pale, trembling from the effort of holding herself together. “Go check the bodies. Make sure they’re dead, Morgan. You can’t leave a live enemy behind.”
Morgan shakes too, gripping the gun with both hands. Three of them are clearly dead, just a mess of brain and fragmented skull where they used to have faces. One dead in a pool of stark red blood, his head barely attached to his body. The one by the trucks isn’t moving either, the bullet ripped through his whole chest on an angle and lodged itself in the tire of the heavy truck. She loses the war with her stomach, and throws up in the snow. She’s trembling even harder when she walks up to the last body, the one she shot in the gut. He’s still breathing, shallow and weak. He’s sweating, despite the cold weather.
His eyes fly open when she approaches. He looks young, not all that much older than she is, only in his early twenties, if that. Close to her brother’s age. His brown eyes lock on hers. She raises the gun.
“P—Please,” he says weakly.
Morgan’s hands shake.
“You’re no killer,” he spits out. “Not like this.” He says something else, but there’s not enough breath in his lungs to give the words form. It’s shaped like a prayer. His eyes don’t leave hers.
She fires twice, into the snow bank behind him. He exhales, closes his eyes.
“Don’t make me regret it,” she hisses at him. She doesn’t know if he understands her. Doesn’t know if he can hear her, if he’s dead anyway.
She runs for the plane.
They don’t have enough time to get to their usual stopover, with Helena in the shape she’s in, so she directs Morgan to fly somewhere closer. They fly low over the countryside to avoid radar. Morgan has never flown the plane like this before, so close to the beckoning ground, but her mother is in no shape to pilot, and only getting worse. There can be no mistakes, so she makes none, even though it’s hard to think over the pain in her arm and the worry that wraps itself around her heart and squeezes tight. They make it to a rural property, and a familiar man comes out to greet them carrying a gun, an automatic rifle just like the other men had. As soon as he sees who they are, the shape that they’re in, he tosses the gun away and runs to them, worry creasing new lines into his face. He carries Helena inside, makes a worried phone call in rapid Russian.
A doctor comes, or maybe a vet. But it’s already too late.
They bury Helena in Nikolai’s backyard, many miles away from home, in a place that’s so familiar and unfamiliar at the same time, just pine forests and empty fields and ice. Snow falls, and Morgan stays outside, sitting by her mother’s grave, watching white, powdery snow smooth over the bumpy, disturbed earth, burying Helena for a second time that day. There is no grave marker, just a stone, and soon that’s buried too.
Morgan wonders if this is for her. She’s not sure if it could be worth such a heavy cost, the risk, the violence. But it seems set. She’s only fourteen, and she’s killed four men, and left a fifth to bleed out in the snow. What other life could she have now? She thinks she’ll never find freedom anywhere but aboard the North Wind, and it doesn’t matter if she’s wrong. She can choose this, the wind whistling through the thin aluminum beneath her feet, the rifle in her hands, the risk, the reward. Step into the role that her mother had been training her for since she was just a child. She can’t think of herself as a child any longer, not with blood on her hands that will never fully wash away.
The North Wind carries her home through calm skies, a different girl than she was when she left.

Macabre Month 7 Part XI: Mary Shelley's Frankenstein (1994)
In today's review, I find that sculpting the perfect man is a lot harder than first thought. As I attempt a #positive review of the 1994 adaptation of Mary Shelly's Frankenstein #RobertDeNiro #KennethBranagh #RoryJennings #TomHulce #HelenaBonhamCarter
Sometimes, a great idea is all you need, a single spark to ignite greatness. Sometimes, it doesn’t even have to be your own idea; sometimes, it doesn’t even have to be good. Sometimes, it can just seem like a good idea, like creating the perfect man. In 1994, the next Universal monster got their origins told, in great gothic detail of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein. Kenneth Branagh directs and also…

Annie Besant: 'I will speak for all the despairing silent ones'
SUNDAY SUPPLEMENT: Last month, the Phoenix Retirement Association in Crystal Palace hosted one of its regular talks, this time about the Victorian radical Annie Besant, a woman who led the matchgirls’ strike, popularised the cause of birth control, was courted by George Bernard Shaw, admired by Sir Arthur Conan-Doyle, and visited by Gandhi, and who played an important part in Indian independence.…

Eudoria the mother of the 'three' Holmes children in Enola Holmes leaving her daughter to become a proponent for equal rights for women is rather interesting considering Sherlock's own views on women as a whole.

Get Secret Doctrine'd lol.
This is my copy of Mme. Helena Blavatsky's The Secret Doctrine. This particular version is a two-volume 1977 reprint. This is the first of the two volumes.
A cornerstone of western Esotericism. Blavatsky lays out a sweeping, evocative pseudohistory in an attempt to syncretize and unify all human spirituality. Everything from holy texts to archeological evidence to folk tales are treated as evidence of a hidden true religion from which all spirituality branched.
It is difficult to describe the impact this text had on the English speaking world. In 1888, this was many readers first and only exposure to Buddhism and Hinduism. The theory that all religions shared a common "true" ancestor was not a new idea. What made Balavatsky unique was that she had actually been to southeast Asia, and she made clever use of ideas from popular contemporary novels to help sell her ideas. This text was an absolute bombshell for a certain type of guy in 1888.
It's influence on western history is bizarre and --in my opinion-- under-discussed. It's shadow can be seen in everything from authors like Arthur Conan Doyle, and Lovecraft, to painters like Kandinsky and Mondrian, to the early Nazi party.
The text did not spark interest in eastern religion, but it was gasoline for the fire. It set up Theosophy to be an umbrella mythology, which combined several disparate popular myths and ideas into a single, cohesive system.

Doyle Legacy 1890s - 1900s LOOKBOOK
Tumblr media
Helena Doyle Harrington 1890s - 1900s
Babies first Lookbook!😀
Helena's upbringing was marked by poverty, stemming from the loss of her mother. This hardship led her to turn to prostitution for survival. However, her future husband Eddy, rescued her from a dangerous encounter with a violent client, allowing her to leave that life behind.
Together, they transformed an abandoned hunting shed into a functioning farm for their family.
Known affectionately as "Dove," Which is a pet name given to her since she worked as a painted lady. The color red became symbol for Helena since she adopted it as her signature, using the color to accentuate her vibrant hair and attract clientele during her time in the sex work industry.
Even after transitioning from a sex worker to a devoted wife I kept that color in mind each time she got an updated wardrobe.
The Harringtons lived poorly which is also why some of Helena's outfits seem out of date for time, she utilized her knowledge of previous decades sewing patterns to make clothes for herself.
I used up every outfit slot in CAS and I'd rather not overwhelm myself so instead I chose my favorites to share!

What’s the Irish Magnus Institute equivalent like?
Fun fact Montpelier Hill is also known as the Hellfire Club…
Tumblr media
An Cumann Taighde Asarlaíochta (or the CTA) in County Dublin was known to most as simply a group of ghost-hunting and heretical lunatics who were at best mocked and at worst demonised by the Church to a point that baffled anyone who wasn’t a strict Catholic. There were no churches within a 1.26 Square mile of the place, this was managed by it being at the top of Montpelier Hill. It was a lovely hike, and a lot of supernatural and ghost tours would take you there, officially it was a branch of Trinity College Dublin. Some argued that only because back when Ireland was still under British Colonialism Queen Victoria like most Victorians was fascinated by occultism. Supposedly she publicly wanted the CTA to prove that the Pagan religion was dangerous and satanic, and secretly she believed in the work of the founder of the CTA - Herbert Brennan. Famous friends, researchers, and those who have funded the CTA through out the years include Arthur Conan Doyle, James Wright, Oscar Wilde, Elias Bouchard, W.B. Yeats, Peter Lukas, William Butler, and the like.
It functions in a similar way to the Magnus Archives, which makes sense as some of the researchers would tell you it was originally built with Jonah Magnus intentions in mind. Whether this is true or not has been lost to history but it was hardly a secret that Magnus was a tyrannical colonialist who wished to have as much control over the world as physically possible. The main difference is that the CTA whilst once founded by an avatar for the Eye - Brennan’s alliance and probably romantic attachments to Jonah Magnus was well known, in the first decade of the twentieth century it was shortly in the possession of the Slaughter - an English woman named Helena Asquith, she was killed by Constance Lynch a devotee of the Hunt, who held it for decades until 1999 when it fell into those most called the Unseelie court but those in the know knew to be the Stranger. This very avatar is currently sitting in the head office and is known as Diarmuid Quan.
The building itself is fairly unremarkable, whilst it’s surrounded by beautiful countryside, the most interesting and unique forms of fungi that people come from miles around to see, the building itself looks just like an old Victorian education institute. Some say it used to be where suspected Changelings were taken, records back this claim up as many children were taken there and whilst they were never seen again it does seem that a lot of later researchers appeared as if from no where. If spoken to they would have had perfectly explainable childhoods, maybe they’d even seem charming, if somewhat thin and sickly. The jobs of the researchers is similar to that of the Magnus Archive, to collect statements - but where as the institute collect them on tapes and file them away the CTA likes to dig their claws into the people themselves. People who give statements to the CTA talk about how affable and warm they are, and it takes them along time to realise that every single one of them will soon became more and more distant to their families and friends until a local circus comes to town and for some bizarre reason they are compelled to join them. Of course no one would connect a circus from mainland Europe with the CTA, what a bizarre connection to make.
The people (or Avatars, if you wish to be pedantic) who work with those who submit statements to the CTA are split between those who want answers or power. They are:
The previously introduced Diarmuid Quan, a spindly man who was half Chinese half Irish. His father’s family were wealthy back in Shanghai as the owners of the country’s biggest theatres. They have a contract which every acrobat in China has to sign to be able to perform in order to perform at an officially licensed theatre, one that is terrifyingly binding. He sits in an enormous lavish office. It seems just like it was originally crafted and designed by a friend of the then British Queen. The main input in the decor is the amount of toys, dolls, and wooden figures he has dotted about the place. He’s a small, unassuming man, until that is you realise his smile never cracks, and that the puppets he keeps seem to always be in a different place every time you look.
Domhnall Stoker is officially the head researcher and Quan’s closest confidant. his relation to Timothy Stoker of the Magnus Institute is unknown to himself - but he is a second cousin on his father’s side. Some might think the link to the Stranger is hereditary but that is simply not the case. Domhnall is much more aware of Quan’s actions and works very closely with him. The rumours say that they are in a relationship, but the nature of it is unclear.
Niamh Mohan, a researcher and a Mincéir (usually known as an Irish Traveller but she would never describe herself that way) who lost her family in an arson attack on their homes. Or that was the official story, and it made sense she thought since hate attacks against her community were common. That wasn’t how she remembered it though, but when she told the police about a strange cult who worshipped the Light who moved in nearby they wouldn’t hear a word of it.
Otylia Soltys, a research who as a child she was runaway who was taken in by the Circus of the Other, not that she knew what it was then. She was trained as an acrobat and they took advantage of her hypermobile joints to train her into being a unique and beautiful performer. Of course, the circus’s grip was tight and painful, any attempt to run away resulted in her being dragged back. Even when she ran to Ireland she found herself unable to escape the grip of the CTA.
Ravi Nayar was taken from their family at the age of six, their strict Hindu parents definitely did not think they were a changeling but enough of their neighbours did that they were taken from their home in the middle of the night. What exactly happened between then and the present day Ravi has no idea, their earliest memory is waking up in a warm, comfortable bed at the CTA and being told they’ve always worked there. They have always been loved and cared for by the Stranger, this has always been their home.

Silly lil' OC Tag Game?
Tagged by the magnanimous @fablewritesnonsense
Link for the picrew
Tagging (as always no pressure): @helena-bug @meteoratheopposed
Like Fable was lamenting, this Picrew is woefully bereft of facial hair and POC features (and I am choosing to lament the lack of stereotypical masculine features). I chose to do all my AFAB Fallout characters as much justice as I could. So without further ado, meet the family!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In order of appearance:
Blaise Tricoli - Ex Railroad Operative, Genderqueer Lesbian (she/they), Sole Survivor
Laaj "Lark" Parish - Brotherhood of Steel Elder (ooohhh spoilers~), Cis Pansexual (she/her), Sole Survivor
Amara Perry - General of the Minutemen, Cis Straight (she/her), Sole Survivor
Francesca "Phasma" Shipp - Institute Codename "Mother", Cis Asexual (she/her), Sole Survivor
Reyes "Spartan" Aritza - NCR Ambassador, Nonbinary Queer (they/them), Courier Six
Hannah Doyle - Star Paladin of the Brotherhood of Steel, Agender Aro/Ace (any pronouns), Lone Wanderer
All these babes are a part of my clusterfuck of a retelling of Fallout 4. @fablewritesnonsense 's wonderful fic Nuclear Family is very similar in it's premise though Fable isn't crazy enough to have 7 Sole Survivors. They are normal and went with only 2. I, on the other hand, seem to be a masochist when it comes to my writing and like juggling 20+ people right off the bat and then only adding to that number as time goes on (I've been working on an "intimate" christmas oneshot for YEARS and this close family gathering has 50 fucking people. DON'T YOU JUST LOVE ENSEMBLE FICTION SO MUCH???)
Anyways, the three Sole Survivors missing are Louis DeSalva, Atticus Bruley, and Zebediah Kahan. All three are Cis (He/him) and varying levels of queer. Louis and Zeb work with the Railroad, Atticus is a Paladin with the BoS.
As with my BG3 stuff, there is no promise of a fanfiction ever coming to fruition. These blorbos live rent free in the mind palace and occasionally get their world shaken around like a snow globe to see if any new ideas shake out of it. There are a few more OCs connected to these characters (A few blasts from the past to rock the foundations) but I am going to preserve a level of mystery to the story still lmao. One day I'll write up a ridiculously long summary of the story. One day lmao
Goodnight, Good luck, Godspeed, Gangnam Style, And All That ✨Jazz✨
