My plan for this save file is to dedicate each world to a specific decade, making it easy for anyone to create a family and drop them in. The entire save will be CC-free, but I’ll be using all the packs TS4 has to offer—so keep that in mind!

I hope this will be helpful to someone once it’s finished. :) The first world being worked on is 1890s Henford-on-Bagley

Granada TV Series Review: "Silver Blaze"

"Silver Blaze"  has long been a favorite story among readers, and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle counted it as one of his favorite Holmes stories. The story contains a bit of dialogue that is often quoted to demonstrate the details Holmes catches that other mere mortals usually miss.

“Is there any point to which you would wish to draw my attention?” “To the curious incident of the dog in the night-time.” “The dog did nothing in the night-time.” “That was the curious incident,” remarked Sherlock Holmes.

The Granada adaptation of "Silver Blaze" is an exceptionally well done presentation of the story. I can only imagine that this particular episode cost a bundle to make: lots of extras, location shooting on the moors, and many horses, could not have been cheap. But the result is admirable. Jeremy Brett is often at his best. He is in fine fettle throughout the episode, and constantly finds glee in keeping a step ahead of all the other characters. (The flourish when he finally reveals Silver Blaze is particularly enjoyable.)

​The costumes bring Sidney Paget's original artwork to life, as the Granada series often did so very well. Probably the best example of a perfect costume is Holmes's hooded coat and deerstalker cap, done in what looks to be a light grey gabardine.  The costume designer clearly had studied Paget's illustrations very carefully.

The supporting cast does a fine job as well. In "Silver Blaze" we are introduced to one of the very few representatives of the official police department who manages to impress Sherlock Holmes most of the time: Inspector Gregory. As Holmes describes him, “Inspector Gregory, to whom the case has been committed, is an extremely competent officer. Were he but gifted with imagination he might rise to great heights in his profession." The actor who plays Gregory, Malcolm Storry, does a very fine job portraying a competent, if a bit unimaginative, detective who clearly wants to impress Holmes.  And there's a very impressive scene between Holmes and Silas Brown that is only described by Holmes in the source material, in which Brett and Russell Hunter excel. Peter Barkworth's presents a Colonel Ross who is suitably pompous and dismissive of the great detective, only to become rather fawning when he realizes how Holmes has saved his bacon.

Overall, I found the adaptation to be one of the more enjoyable episodes in the Granada series thus far. It was great to watch such a popular story brought to life in such an entertaining fashion. The episode contains many of the elements that made the series such a hit with so many Sherlock Holmes fans. Highly recommended!

« Jésus appela les Douze ; alors il commença à les envoyer en mission deux par deux. Il leur donnait autorité sur les esprits impurs… » (Mc 6,7) Avec le texte d’aujourd’hui, voici que Jésus envoie les apôtres à leur tour, munis eux aussi du pouvoir de chasser les démons. Il leur donne également trois consignes : aller deux par deux, n’emporter que le strict nécessaire, ne pas se laisser impressionner par la persécution inévitable, avec cette expression « secouer la poussière de ses pieds ». Premièrement, aller deux par deux : cela semble une pratique habituelle de Jésus ; Marc en donne quelques exemples par la suite : par exemple, pour préparer l’entrée à Jérusalem : « Lorsqu’ils approchent de Jérusalem, près de Bethphagé et de Béthanie, vers le mont des Oliviers, Jésus envoie deux de ses disciples et leur dit : Allez au village qui est devant vous… vous trouverez un ânon attaché… » (11,1-2) ; même chose pour préparer la Pâque : « Il envoie deux de ses disciples et leur dit : Allez à la ville ; un homme viendra à votre rencontre, portant une cruche d’eau… » (14,13). Il y a là peut-être la trace de la coutume juive selon laquelle un témoignage n’était recevable que quand il était porté par deux personnes au moins : « C’est sur les déclarations de deux ou de trois témoins qu’on pourra instruire une affaire. » (Dt 19,15). L’évangélisation, elle aussi, est affaire de témoignage, elle n’est pas une affaire individuelle. Plus tard, les Apôtres garderont cette habitude : ainsi Pierre et Jean vont ensemble prêcher au Temple de Jérusalem (Ac,1) ; Paul et Barnabé font équipe longtemps en Syrie et en Asie Mineure (Ac 13-15) ; après leur séparation, Paul continue la mission avec Silas (Ac 16-17). Deuxièmement, n’emporter que le strict nécessaire : « Il leur prescrivit de ne rien prendre pour la route, mais seulement un bâton ; pas de pain, pas de sac, pas de pièces de monnaie dans leur ceinture. Mettez des sandales, ne prenez pas de tunique de rechange. » Leurs seuls instruments doivent être ceux de la marche pour la mission. En entendant cette consigne, les apôtres ont probablement évoqué la marche de leurs pères dans la foi, la nuit de la fameuse Pâque de la sortie d’Égypte, « la ceinture aux reins, les sandales aux pieds, le bâton à la main. » (Ex 12, 11). La longue marche de l’Église, peuple de Dieu, commence ici. Elle exige mobilité, disponibilité, liberté d’esprit. Troisième consigne donnée par Jésus, ne pas se laisser impressionner par la persécution inévitable. D’après le récit de Marc, les apôtres viennent tout juste d’assister à l’échec de Jésus à Nazareth (6,1-6) ; et, depuis le début de l’évangile, ils ont vu naître et grandir l’opposition des scribes et des pharisiens. On peut se demander pourquoi « Un prophète n’est méprisé que dans son pays, sa parenté et sa maison » comme l’a déclaré Jésus à Nazareth (6,4) ; si l’évangélisation consiste à annoncer partout l’amour et le pardon de Dieu, pourquoi rencontre-t-elle tant d’oppositions ? Parce que nous avons la « nuque raide », comme disait Moïse ; parce que nous avons d’autres idées sur Dieu ; enfin, parce que nous avons le cœur endurci : or, si Dieu est amour et pardon, il va nous demander d’être à son image et donc nous remettre en question. C’est pour toutes ces mauvaises raisons que Jésus a été crucifié, et tant d’autres martyrisés à leur tour. Face à ces refus, Jésus ne préconise pas la violence, ni le mépris évidemment ; mais la persévérance et la sérénité : « Si, dans une localité, on refuse de vous accueillir et de vous écouter, partez et secouez la poussière de vos pieds : ce sera pour eux un témoignage. » C’est d’abord une manière de dire : nous respectons votre liberté, nous ne sommes pas venus chez vous pour prendre quoi que ce soit contre votre gré, fût-ce de la poussière. C’est aussi une invitation à ne pas se laisser arrêter par les échecs, repartir le pied léger, quoi qu’il arrive. (Note du P. But his reasons rang hollow. Jackson had never held a passion for his fathers work, but he had always cared deeply for his sister despite all her flaws. He had lost his mother, his father, and now Josephine’s absence loomed heavier than ever.

Jackson’s heartbreak finally erupted. This was his father’s legacy, his family’s name, not Silas’s. With a final outburst, Jackson stripped Silas of his position and ordered him off the property.

Any business dealing they had together were officially over.

Booker T. Jones and his group's session bandmates continue to work, they keep gracing many LPs with their contributions. Mr. Jones, for instance, can be found on The Union, a collaborative disc between Elton John and Leon Russell. Both of them cherish the opportunity, Mr. John rarely sounded that engaged during the current phase of his career. Then again, Mr. Russell was his idol, though you don't get an Electronica-like meetings with the fans on the platter, they basically want to make the best possible version of their cooperation. You have a meeting of two remarkable musicians that, we have to be honest, remain underappreciated. I fear they were taken for granted at the point of The Union and the latter showed why that shouldn't be like this.
