For the WIP tag: motorbike shibari :D Additional question, feel free to ignore: do you have any ideas about what colour palette you're going to use? And how do you decide on the colours, anyway? /not an artist, therefore very curious

hmm i havent thought about colour for this specific piece, but i do have some sort of method ive developed for paintings

i usually pick a primary colour first, and this is based off emotion, what i want the piece to say. you know, colour psychology. red invokes lust, passion, high energy, which is why i use red primarily in my inktober stuff. pale purples and pinks, on the other hand, are soft, romantic, safe, attraction, sweetness, so i used this as a base for alot of my warrior ch3 paintings.

i paint my local colours, usually on a multiply layer, over this base so that all my colours include some of my primary colour.

local colours are the base colour of everything with no light effects or anything. alot of my work is fanwork, so this is generally already decided for me. when it comes to my more 'original' work (lets use kals design from warrior) i still like choosing a main and basing everything around that. so here, everything is a shade of orange, just slightly warmer, brighter, darker etc

but also i think a big part of colours is lighting. all the colours get adjusted. i make the shadows colder and the light warmer, which creates a contrast in the painting. a visual example, if youll allow me

now each colour has a warm section and a cold section in the lit image here, and it makes all the colours marry together a bit more, and look more cohesive, like they actually exist together, which helps tie the colour palette together.

i hope this was interesting. i feel like im still winging my colours in most paintings, especially skin, but its fun to explore.

This was soo much fun!!! I’ve wanted to go to Austin for a long time, as a lifelong Spoon fan and general music nerd this is the Mecca and I’m glad I was able to go with Anne so we could nerd out about Lone Star! We ate amazing food, got to walk all over the whole city, checked out landmarks from the show, built new headcanons like what touristy things TK, Marjan and Paul did when they first got to town in s1. And we got to see my beloved Omar Apollo 😍

⭐️ Season 4-5 Hiatus Rewatch

I made soo many new friends including ANNE, we hadn’t ever really talked before but she slid into my DMs early in the rewatch and asked if she could help and then we have basically talked every day since 🤭 And all the really amazing pals I made during the weekly group watches, my unhinged polls, just generally chatting with folks about the weekly episodes and going deeper with headcanons and stuff. This event really helped me feel accepted into the fandom and I think it did for a lot of others!

1. one dark thing after another (IWTV) Claudia & Louis, Louis/Lestat, Claudia/Madeleine, rated M

I feel like this is cheating because I've only posted one chapter of this so far but it's going to be good it's going to be epic. Claudia is a vampire slayer, moves to a small town on a hellmouth with her watcher/father Louis. Kind of starts on the same vein as the start of iwtv season 2 where Lestat is um...compromised...and Claudia & Louis are off on their own running into the horrors. But it's also inspired by Buffy so it has a fun tone (i hope).

2. love you anyway (IWTV) Louis/Lestat, rated E

A sequel I wasn't going to write but felt compelled to with all the support the first part of this series got. And I like it more! Filled with Louis claiming he's staying away from Lestat while doing anything but...turned into the sappy I love you that I don't think will be anything close to canon. I wanted to see it though!!!! Also set in Canada because I can.

3. knew from the get go (IWTV) Louis/Lestat, rated E

Biting!!! Loving biting!!! This is an early Louis/Lestat encounter with lots of drinking each others blood romantically. Though this is an E rated fic and there's other stuff to focus on for sure - my favourite part is the dialogue.

4. knock me down with a feather (BTVS) Jenny/Giles, rated T

This story took over the first half of my summer and it was very very fun to write. Super niche, it's a swan lake au with a couple that's a blip in the show as a whole but I adore them and this.

5. scorch marks (BTVS) Jenny/Giles, rated E

When I started writing Jenny and Giles fic I was horrified by the small (but lovely) number of E rated fics and had to rectify that immediately. Jenny cast a spell around valentine's day in s2 to get rid of her feelings for Giles and...well...the opposite happens. You can guess where it goes from there. I leave the overall conflict unresolved and the resentment from Jenny is at all time high - so it remains one of my faves.

Okay so I guess I should probably explain the gender system I’ve worked out for this au because Pride and Prejudice relies so heavily on the Gender of it all… I have, in a way, reinvented mpreg/the omegaverse (it won’t really feature much in the fic it’s just so I can make things work)

Basically everyone has a primary and secondary gender. Your primary gender is either carrier (can get pregnant) or sire (can get others pregnant) and the secondary gender is male or female. DONT think too hard about the biology this is all just vibes. And carriers take the role of regency women whether they’re male or female (can’t own property, have to be married off, etc etc) and sires have the role of men. Hopefully that makes sense?

So Nico and Seb are the eldest of five carrier sons, which means they all need to marry well ideally, and their family home can’t go to any of them. Jenson is a rich sire that moves to the neighbourhood and obviously all the carriers are trying to woo him. He is immediately obsessed with Nico (if you know p&p you know that Nico and Jane are almost entirely opposites in personality, bear with me) and Nico is pretending that he doesn’t care for Jenson before of his Issues.

Jenson’s friend Mark also visits and completely snubs the neighbourhood and in particular he snubs Seb (“not handsome enough to tempt me”) and Seb is initially just really amused by this, but when Jenson and Nico start spending more and more time together, and Seb is forced into proximity with Mark, Mark’s pride and rudeness start to grate on Seb’s nerves…

and thus the plot of pride and prejudice ensues!!! I do actually have a snippet I can share of this I’ll stick it under the cut

Sebastian rolled his eyes and threw himself back to sprawl on his bed.

“My sincerest apologies, dear brother,” he said, insincerely. “Pray then, tell me what you really think of Mr Button. And do not tell me what you know mama would want you to say.”

At this, Nico paused in his reply for so long that Sebastian lifted his head in order to closely watch his brother, who had carefully perched on the edge of the bed. It was most unusual for Nico to not immediately have some acerbic remark prepared to whisper to Sebastian when no one else was listening. As Sebastian watched, a flush rose in Nico’s cheeks.

“Well, he is everything a gentleman should be. Perfect manners, a good humoured disposition, handsome. I am most sure that every young carrier in the neighbourhood will be tripping over themselves to win his admiration.”

“And does that include you, Nico?”

“It most certainly does not. Seb, you know how I feel about the ridiculousness of marriage. If someone of great wealth should make an offer then I would of course oblige out of the desire to secure a future for you and our family. But I will not demean myself by chasing after every charming young sire that graces me with his attention.”

At this, Sebastian grinned.

“Even a charming young sire that dances four dances with you, when he only danced one with everyone else?” he asked, attempting to provoke his older brother.

He was rewarded with the flush on Nico’s cheeks deepening.

“Even a sire such as that,” Nico replied. “Besides, I am sure he would grow sick of me in short order. Most sires do. I am not— demure enough.”

Sebastian pulled himself across the bed to wrap Nico in a swaddling hug, and refused to let go even as Nico attempted to bat him away.

ahem yeah I've got quite a few fun facts. I've actually worked with animals for quite a few years now and they're my absolute favorite thing :) I cannot shut up about them ever

let's see off the top of my head....

peregrine falcons can stoop over 220 mph! they form their foot into a fist and punch their prey right out of the air! (yes the Falcon Punch™️ is a real thing lol)

przewalski's horse is the only species of wild horse left in the world! while horses originally evolved in North America, the horses there now are all feral horses that escaped or were released by settlers!

(in a similar vein, the only "wild" camels left in the world are a feral population that are living their best life in Australia lol)

giraffes communicate using infrasound! it's too low for us to hear it, but it travels very far across wide open spaces! and even though they live in herds that are constantly rearranging, they're all still in contact with each other and are way more social than scientists originally thought :)

sperm whales have complex vocalizations! their babies aren't born knowing how to speak, they "babble" just like baby humans do!! each pod also has its own dialect and culture!

owls have asymmetrical ears! this helps them pinpoint exactly where their prey is by giving them a sort of 3D sense of hearing! barn owls have the most extreme case of this, and are thus able to hunt completely blind!

insects respire through holes on the sides of their bodies! the madagascar hissing cockroach will forcefully exhale air through these "spiracles" to create its iconic hissing sound!

dogs can literally smell cancer before it's detectable by most technology!!!

@kim-ono tagged me to do this several days ago but I haven't really been on tumblr lately (I'm so strong I deserve so many prizes for ignoring the urge to abandon work in favour of Microblogging Platform) so I've only just seen it. oops

Currently reading: Technically—if we're being extremely generous and stretching the meaning of the word "reading" until it's some sort of fucked up taffy or perhaps bubblegum—I'm reading Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea. I started it near the end of May, put it down when I fell EXTREMELY ill in June, and never got around to picking it back up because I have a lot of work to catch up on that keeps piling up no matter what I do. (Which, on one hand, great, money for me; on the other hand, I'm so tireddddd, I want to read something for pleasure and not out of obligation :diosmio:)

Currently watching: Still going through Star Trek: TNG! When I'm over at my mom's we watch it every night at dinner; we're on... season 5, I think? Aside from that, I have yet to finish Wayne's latest Fin Fin stream, largely on account of—again—having precious little time to myself, and when I do finally have some time to myself either I'm so mentally exhausted that I can't focus or I end up deciding I'd rather spend that mental energy on other things.

Current obsession: In terms of interests, Elden Ring continues to reign supreme. I like other things well enough, even Iove them, but ER holds my attention like nothing else can. I'll sink hours upon hours upon hours into that game and to me it only seems like minutes have passed. The day the DLC finally releases is the day I fall off the face of the Earth for a month because I'll be too busy playing. (Although I heard that it's set to come out in Q1 or Q2 2024, instead of this year, which is devastating news to me; more likely than not I'll be in college by then and therefore extremely pressed for free time.)

And also a mixture of replaying VTMB and talking to Joy about DiscOCs VTM AU and vampire concepts has put me back in a very VTM mood. Not quite an obsession yet. But oh I am thinking.

OKAY SO . before i get into his Whole Deal . the concept came to me in a vision kinda… i’ve always loved gritty fairy tales and little red riding hood is my favorite !!!! so i thought it might be fun to use it as the basis for an eerie fic and sneak in sugu …… and then i started thinking well is he the wolf or the hunter . and the answer was Both <333

so now we have . wolf/hunter!sugu…… i’ve said this before but to me suguru’s most defining trait is the contrast he has!!! so i think the contrast between his reliable, ’trustworthy’ hunter side and his more primal, dangerous wolf side is really fitting (and ofc tasty)…. as for his motives !!!!! i’m still not entirely decided on the lore LMAO so take this in stride but….. i thought it’d be really cool if maybe reader and suguru both know they’re in a fairy tale . kind of like a loop but also not really ??? just a sense of deja vu……. and if that’s the case then maybe suguru has been the hunter from the start, has had to watch you be deceived by the wolf hundreds of times, and eventually just . kinda snaps . and invites you to his cabin so he can keep you ’safe’ (captive <3) there.

…….. basically :3c it’s Love . but also it’s more for him than for you. and somewhere along the line he (figuratively or literally) turns into the ’wolf’ of the story — now he’s the big bad villain keeping you locked away….. i think he very much views you as an injured baby bird . that he has to tend to. very condescending you know??? absolutely a freaky man but like all my sugus he is very tender when it comes to you . may or may not eat you by the end tho idk i haven’t decided . but it’s like. there’s no safer place for you than inside his stomach…. you know ……….

I actually have pretty much all the chapter planned out until the battle begins but my problem is I do them by events so it’s like I want this this and this to happen in a chapter but idk how long it’ll take to make that happen but I know what I want to write lol.

(& sometimes the characters don’t LISTEN & I say be nice and make this an easy talk and they’re like no fuck you author I wanna fight right now and the convo takes 1.5k instead of idk 500 words lol. )

I just posted chapter 15 & I’m going to GUESS we are about halfway done. In my mind we are halfway through the last book and that means we have roughly 15 chapter left to go then the epilogue.

I’m pretty good at estimating chapter count but horrible at word count estimation haha.
