Topics include: the epidemiology and temporal trends of low bone mass, osteoporosis and related fractures; the morbidity and mortality associated with osteoporosis and osteoporotic fractures; low bone mass risk factors and etiology; and osteoporotic risk assessment. The book includes a study with the goal of understanding workers’ social representation of occupational risks and preventive measures. A qualitative approach was utilised based on social representation theory �� processual approach. The sample was comprised of male workers from a municipal service responsible for cleaning and conservation of the public area with no permanent contract in a large city in the South-eastern region of Brazil. The authors describe working conditions and health conditions of men from small enterprises in Campinas’ Fruit and Vegetables Warehouse Wholesale. A cross-sectional study with a sample of 200 male workers was developed.
