i think the toughest part for me during all this is how fast it's been. going from being totally normal but with gas/bloating/farting....to suddenly having no gas/bloating/farting but experiencing difficulty breathing and high heartrate one time when i ate too much. then during the week having that happen more and more every time i ate. and then having it happen even if i ate hardly anything. and then starting the probiotics the next week and having that solve the difficulty breathing issue but introduce other side effects. and eventually getting to the point where that nerve pain and extreme reduced ability to move my legs/arms and mental confusion was a constant rather than just when i ate. i have felt so helpless through this whole thing and the doctors kept saying 'wait a week for your appointment and get a referral' while the ER was saying 'you need to see a specialist NOW'. and every day i was waiting it got worse. its just so frustrating because if i had been able to see a real doctor on the 27th of july when i ended up in the ER the first time, so much of this pain might have been slowed or prevented. im sitting here being dizzy and unable to do basic things like clean my house or move around much and am looking forward to spending the next four days just trying to survive till i can see a doctor.
my lovely neighbor went out and bought me these drinks called 'orgain' so im drinking that now and just hoping desperately its not going to trigger anything

Job hunting is an absolute nightmare because it's like I have a million reasons to need this job and the money from it and it's basically like telling the job that I'm pretty much their bitch because I need the money, and they'll just reject you because you didn't downright worship a company or bc you were honest on the application personality quiz

need to convince myself that i do not need anymore tattoos or piercings before december
i really need to start donating plasma again- it’s a good thing to do but i’m totally doing it for selfish reasons.
not only can i make a bit of extra money by doing nothing, but donating plasma encourages me to actually look after my body- you have to keep your iron and protein counts up and need to be well hydrated before donations. i was at my healthiest when i was donating. it also guaranteed me a few hours a week that were just for me. i could nap, listen to music, study, read, whatever i wanted for those few hours. i feel like it sounds insane that i looked forward to having a machine take my blood and separate it then give it back sans plasma just for a bit of “me time” but i genuinely did. even when i had a vasovagal response to the process i never regretted it. it was quiet time just for me, genuinely relaxing lol

Call Your Insurance - benefit questions
I get it, phone calls are scary! Here's some scenarios to show you what to expect when you call your insurance company. Don't be afraid to ask follow up questions - the only 'stupid question' is one you don't ask!
[beginning of call] Insurance rep: Hi, thanks for calling your insurance company, my name is X. How can I help you today? You: Hi, I'm calling to ask about my benefits. Rep: Okay, can I get your member ID number? [you provide] and can you verify your name and date of birth for me? [you verify. they may also ask for your phone number at this point.] Rep: Alright, I've got you pulled up here. What questions do you have today?
[example one] You: I think I need to see a specialist and wanted to know what my benefits are for lab work. Rep: Okay, give me a minute to get that information for you. [answer will obviously vary! they may ask clarifying questions to help find an accurate answer, such as diagnosis/issue you are seeking help for. they may also have to provide a disclaimer that they cannot guarantee benefits quoted] It looks like you have a $45 copay for specialist office visits, and that can include some basic lab work if it is billed on the same claim. If they send it to a separate lab, then your In Network benefit is 80% after deductible. You: Can you check to see if the specialist is In Network? And do I need a referral? Rep: Sure, what's the doctor's name? [they may tell you to verify with the provider if they are In Network, as not all insurance reps will have access to 100% confirm a provider's network contract status, unfortunately.]
[example two] You: I'm going to need surgery. What are my benefits? Rep: I can look that up for you. Where will you be having the surgery? [surgery benefits can depend on whether you are inpatient, outpatient, or in-office] You: At the hospital, I might have to be there a few days. Rep: Okay, inpatient services require precertification. Your doctor will need to start that process by submitting a precert request to our fax number or through our website. The benefit for hospital services is 80% after deductible. It looks like you've already met your deductible, so that means you'll be paying 20% until you hit your out of pocket max, which is $4000 for In Network services. You: Does that include my deductible?
[end of call] Rep: Is there anything else I can help you with today? You: No that's all. Can I get a reference number for the call? [feel free to ask for their name again if you didn't catch it or forgot! some systems don't have reference numbers and just use the rep's name and the date, so its always good to keep notes of when you called, who you spoke with, and what they told you!]

just had a conversation at work with someone who was SA and has no insurance
they just want to get checked out and do you know how much std testing costs out of pocket at urgent care? $400-600
planned parenthood its $325 no insurance with a waitlist. at the one this person tried it was a 2 week wait
the results also take at least 4 days to come back from lab unless you go to the hospital which is probably doubled in price
the medical care in this country is a FUCKING JOKE

in the 6 yrs i’ve lived in the netherlands i haven’t celebrated kingsday even once bc i usually use the free day off to go home or travel somewhere else but every time i mention this to someone they’re like “omg never?? but ur missing out on such a DUTCH experience!!”
as if wading thru crowds of insufferably drunk dutch people celebrating a monarch is my idea of a good time. maybe if they’d use that power in numbers for something constructive like decapitating him i’d join in on the fun
