On page 322 of a book authors should not be allowed to reveal a characters hair colour. You missed your window. She already has a hair colour now and it's not this one
#YES THIS#i saw writing advice once that was like#you shouldn't describe your characters except in incidental snippets#something like don't say his eyes are blue! instead try something like saying when he smiles that his blue eyes sparkle!#that's some fanfic shit actually. that's for characters with established appearances.#descriptions don't have to be boring laundry lists of features they can say a lot about a character!#like is he wearing his dark hair neatly coiffed? or perhaps it looks like he's been putting off getting a haircut#if you don't give readers something to picture they're not gonna picture it the way you want#i think this problem stems from people taking the advice to avoid using the passive voice too literally?#a belief that describing characters means listing off features?#i am a firm believer that there are no hard rules in good writing and you gotta take all advice with a grain of salt#especially not using the passive voice and including the entire rant i just went on :)

What's your favorite food to make??
that's a tough one! i have a fondness for making yeast breads that i don't often indulge because a family member doesn't eat gluten, so jumbo soft pretzels come to mind. i'm not the best at making them, i'm sure in part because i don't get much practice, but it's such a satisfying process and has such satisfying results, even if they end up messy.
also shoutout to this copycat milano recipe i made a couple weeks ago and have been fantasizing about making again ever since
