Today's brainrot is the time after the fall, where Lena continued to be a very loud ex-member of Overwatch. How she spent months on the cleanup efforts, digging through the rubble only to be arrested and taken into "protective detention" by the UN. Months of interrogation, of them combing through every second of her life looking for some kind of hunt that Overwatch was a part of this. Being blamed for Blackwatch agents disappearing, blamed for the explosion. She'd be one of the few that stayed, blamed for it all, because they couldn't get everyone else. Yeah. Yeah.

Relationship Headcanons

Being in a relationship with Jiro would require a large amount of patience at first. Given his lack of social awareness, he would often need to be told what you need from him. You would need to sit him down and have a conversation about what kind of affection you like as he often just does what he's told. Finding out what he likes would take a bit of exploring. He rarely thinks of his own needs, so it's likely he doesn't even know what he wants. Once he does figure things out, you'll find him just going for what he wants, within reason. Don't be surprised if hugs and kisses come out of nowhere. He might pull you to sit on his lap or carry you someplace where he can keep you to himself. Jiro takes the path of least resistance, so be sure to tell him what you're not okay with. He will do his absolute best to commit it to memory. The goober sometimes forgets his own strength, so you may find your feet leaving the floor more often than you think. After a while, you'd begin to wonder if it's an accident or if he's lifting you on purpose. I think once he gets a taste of physical affection, he'll start to crave it. He'll hold you close while you're snuggled up together and he's reading a book. He'll start absently playing with your hair or leaning on you. He might even reach for your hand if you're close enough and otherwise unoccupied. The feeling of your warmth is a pleasure that he seeks over and over again. He tends to run a little cold in his extremities, so brace yourself for cold hands. Once he knows what you like, he will dote on you as much as he can. He has a hard time expressing emotion, so he compensates with these acts to make sure you felt as loved and appreciated as you make him feel. If there's ever a proposal, don't expect any grand, sweeping gestures. One day, when he feels it to be the appropriate timing, he'll just bring it up as casually as asking what's for dinner. He doesn't see the need for anything else when it's just a simple question. If you end up saying no, it wouldn't hurt his feelings any. He'd simply conclude it's not the right time and try again later (unless you explicitly say marriage isn't in the cards). Patience will still be required as he has a chronic illness. He'll need frequent treatments. He can't eat or drink anything without assistance. He gets sick easily. His wounds reopen frequently. Even so, he tries to work and make you happy, so it might become your job to make sure he gets rest. He can be easily coerced back into bed with some cuddles if he's not feeling well though. I'll make a separate post for the NSFW stuff once I figure that out.

Absolutely love the idea that it was April who got the boys super into snow days.

Like, pre-April, they probably would view the days as miserable, since as turtles they’re likely more susceptible to the cold and back then they probably had much less to keep warm with.

The cold altogether was just never good to them - and then April comes around and teaches them how to make a snowman. And when it’s done, she pelts them with snowballs. And suddenly, the cold is now fun, and they might still be shivering, but now they’re smiling too.

What kind of duties does Stolas have to the Ars Goetia?

III. ON THE DUTIES OF A PRINCE OF THE ARS GOETIA

as a prince of the ars goetia, stolas' position is saddled with a variety of duties, as well as endowed with powers and resources to perform these.

he operates mostly between three domains - astral, hell and mortal realms. his duties can be divided in the following categories:

☽ research stolas prizes intellect and knowledge above all things. his research includes:

astronomy

the discovery and impact of prophecies (and by extension, keeping tabs on prophets) and related astronomical events

the study of portals

the rituals and magical value of precious stones

the uses and effects of plants and herbs

any form of transcribed magic: contracts, tomes etc.

his research on these topics is considered fundamental and thus makes him a valuable asset to his fellow goetia.

☽ training and commanding his assigned legions of hell all infernal legions technically belong to the morningstar regents of hell, and as one of their commanders stolas is entrusted with training and bolstering them. mostly on stand-by, infernal legions are the first line of defence in case of non-sanctioned heavenly attacks and internal revolts / civil war.

☽ ad hoc tasks from his superiors while he is technically ranked below other demons, for example the seven deadly sins, he is only allowed to take orders from his infernal regents and goetian king, though he is discouraged from antagonising any of the sins.

these tasks can be varied and not necessarily connected to his domains and regular duties; his regents may call upon his services at any time, they take absolute priority over anything else he may be doing and he is bound to carry them out regardless of how he feels about them.

☽ paperwork yes, that too! as a demon specialised in academia stolas is well-versed in contract magic, tome-based magic and prophecy as his fields of research. he is often called upon by other demons to review and advise on such forms of written magic, as well as drafting contracts. due to his meticulous attention to detail, he's very good at finding legal loopholes, and he will use this power liberally depending on whether he likes the contract owner or not.

☽ siring a goetian heir ensuring the goetian line is secure should anything happen to him. and that duty has been accomplished with the birth of octavia, his princess.

okay long rambly post incoming. for the record like 90% of this is pure unfiltered headcanon. and almost all of this is about colors. sorry if this is hard to follow!!! i need to get this all out of my system.

oh also! a lot of this is based on a really good post by @/chronologically-challenged that shows off the differences between each character’s craft style! go check that out it’s really good

okay!! so!!! colors. this is just my own thing, but i personally like to color code the different types of craft!

don’t worry about those middle tones yet just put a pin in those

there’s still a little bit of color variety within craft types (for flavor), but generally, rock is blue, paper is yellow, and scissors is red. i’m not going to lie to you i only did this because the splatoon testfire had these colors. it’s also why my triplets designs are colored like that!

i think these colors also just fit the descriptions of these crafts? red feels like a more aggressive and active color, which matches how piercing craft is generally more focused on dealing damage, blue tends to be calmer, which matches protective craft being more supportive , that kinda thing. something something children’s hospital. yellow is a bit of a wildcard here lol, it just looks nice with the other two.

putting aside the colors for a mo! don’t worry those’ll come back soon. i’ve also been thinking a lot about how dual craft types work, though this is a little more speculative. i’m entirely basing this on how mira works. basically, one craft type seems to be more ‘dominant’ over the other. while mira is both paper and scissors, she’s still weak to rock, her basic attack is scissors, and her scissors skill (jolly round rondo) does much more damage than her paper skill (artsy silent burst). she behaves more like a scissors type, with an extra affinity for paper. which i think is interesting!!!

in terms of colors, i think this would manifest as mira’s craft being tinted orange, as a mix of both her craft type’s colors! this is partially what those uncategorized colors are for. while her scissors attacks are only slightly tinted, her paper attacks would be a lot closer to orange! and this would apply to other dual crafts as well. a rock/paper type would have more greenish attacks, a rock/scissors type would have more purply ones, etc etc.

i think this color mixing would also apply to single craft types trying to use a craft type that isn’t their own, though it’d prolly become less pronounced the more a person ‘gets used’ to using that craft type, so to speak. in a while rockodile would be pretty solidly purple, while rock bottom is more of an indigo color, and odile’s craft skills probably only slightly tinted as well.

ok!!! that was a lot about colors. i’m really fucking normal about colors. onto craft styles!! this is still kinda about colors tho sorry. also, again, go check out @/chronologically-challenged’s post if you haven’t already, it’ll prolly explain this better than i will

for a tl;dr on that post, each country has a different way of using craft. the forgotten island has lightless craft that tends to manifest as stars and zigzags, vaugarde has big, rounded bursts of grey craft (with smaller circles around it), and ka bue’s craft is more diamond shaped/triangular and tends to be on the lighter side.

this is also the part i’m a little less sure about. i haven’t drawn these out in my normal style!! so a lot of this is subject to change. sorry about that!

anyways. i wanted to preserve the island’s lightless craft while still making it colorful, so i decided to give it a sort of. halo effect? i guess? i wanted it to vaguely resemble the ring of light around a black hole or a solar eclipse, but that is a lot harder to do with the zigzag shape of the craft + my color limitations. and as i’ve recently learned, glow effects look really weird with my pixelly art. so this is all just flat colors 😓

vaugarde is pretty simple comparatively!! the craft is a sort of midshade ingame, so i just made the main color the normal craft colors. not much to say here!

and ka bue is in a similar boat! i did kinda draw it in my odile sprite redraw, but i didn’t really look at references so it’s kinda boring looking there. not much to say here either!!

and!! as we can see from the king’s special attack art, craft styles can kinda mix together. king’s style follows the general shape of vaugardian craft, but keeps the shade and stars from the forgotten island! i think it’d be fun to play with that a little more teehee. i imagine these are a lot more variable depending on how engrossed someone is in a culture, hence why odile’s craft doesn’t borrow from vaugarde’s style. unless she does? it’s not like we see other ka buans using craft in game. who knows.

also because i forgot, some extra bonus doodles of that craft color mixing i mentioned earlier! yipee!

Like the S/O was a cofounder but left due to disagreements to how the agency is ran. Cue to Anby and Billy after a while of the agency being mismanaged tries to get you back in. You tried to doing one but it didn’t work out as you need her all or nothing approach, but on the other hand she needs you to reel her in. They manage to do it by tricking you two by making y’all think there was going to be a hangout but by the meet up time there’s only you two. There’s arguing but it’s let out accidentally that you like each other. After that it’s more of there being a talk to let things out what you two are and work it out as the agency you both created is both of yours baby in the end of the day.

⋆ Arriving at the meeting place - a newly opened cafe, you were surprised that it was so empty inside, but you went inside anyway and sat down at the nearest table, waiting for Billy and Anby, but imagine your surprise when you saw Nicole on the threshold.

⋆ You immediately jumped up from your chair and she noticed you. You just stared at each other for a minute before she looked away with a frown.

⋆ She wanted to run away, but something stopped her, just like you, because deep down you weren’t the least bit angry at each other, only at yourself.

⋆ Realizing that Enby and Billy had simply set you up, you both got a little angry, but you knew that they meant what was best, so you just sat down at the table in silence, starting a game of silence.

Planning a Future With You

This didn't do very well on the poll I posted a while back but this is my blog and I do what I want. Also introducing Niji for the first time on this blog

Content/Warnings: Crocodile, Niji and Law headcanons, GN!Reader, talk of marriage and children (both positive and negative), both canon-compliant and "de-programmed" Niji mentioned

Crocodile has always been a future plans kind of guy

He likes to plan ahead, and know what his next steps are, at all times

When you begin to date, he doesn't factor you in initially, assuming your relationship won't last more than six months

And then it does

He begins to factor you into his plans slowly, over time, until eventually you're irreversibly woven into everything

He tells you none of this of course

But in his mind, his future would be wrong without you

He wants to marry you, eventually, with a grand ceremony, all of the bells and whistles included

Nothing but the best for you

Neither of you have actually asked the other about these sorts of things, but it will happen when you're both ready

Already, Crocodile knows what sort of ring he wants to propose with, and how he wants to propose

Crocodile hasn't thought of children

He had a rough childhood, and he's not the most pleasant man and he knows it

It's hard to raise a child, and whether he's cut out for that is pretty up in the air

He'd consider it, if that was something you wanted

Maybe you could adopt an older child, he thinks that would be more his speed if anything

Niji thinks marriage is a given between you

He's a prince, getting married is a non-negotiable, and he likes you more than most. You're not as irritating as a lot of people he'd considered pursuing in the past

And someone has to continue the Germa bloodline, who better than him?

If you were to date a de-programmed Niji though, things would be different

Kids, for him, would be an absolute no

Even with how much his personality has changed, he still finds kids super grating and he couldn't raise a "snot nosed brat"

If you disagreed on this, it'd be a pretty big issue, it isn't a topic up for discussion

Double income no kids lifestyle for Niji

He's not super sold on weddings either, but that's something he's more willing to discuss

Niji wouldn't want something incredibly extravagant, rather he'd prefer a more intimate ceremony

He doesn't actually want to be a perfect Prince of Germa and having a large elaborate wedding would remind him of that

A smaller ceremony, with his siblings, your family if you want them there, and all your friends is more suited to him

Though he'd absolutely brag about being married to you after the fact if you did get married

Because you're the best thing that's ever happened to him

For Law, pretty much everything is up for discussion

He's far more hesitant about kids than marriage

He's still not convinced the two of you are in it for the long haul - how could you want to be with him for that long?

If you were to get married, he'd absolutely leave all the planning and decisions to you. Tell him when you need him to have an opinion, and when to be there

He'd still get a little teary at the sight of you in your getup, no matter how neutral he is on the entire thing

For him, kids is hard

He had good parents as a young boy, and the thought of providing that is nice, warms his little cold heart

But he's also intimately familiar with how cruel the world can be, and he isn't sure he likes the thought of bringing a child into it

But some children are already in that world, and alone

All that to say, he's unsure, and very unfecided

For him, it would heavily depend on what you wanted, and there would be a lot of lengthy discussions to be had on the topic

TMNT Headcanon: Owning a Business

I was inspired by @thelaundrybitch with her post about the turtles having jobs so this is my version.

If the turtles managed to successfully integrate themselves into society, I could see each one owning their own business. These jobs are based on an RP that I’m in with a friend of mine. The idea is that Donnie had invented cloaking devices to allow them appear human and also had gained a sizeable income by marketing and selling his inventions.

Mikey

Easily the owner of his very own comic book store.

He has to learn how to run it though.

He’d be determined to learn, he may act scatterbrained but when he really applies himself, watch out.

Donnie can’t watch his little brother fail in this endeavor and gives him a crash course on how to run a small business.

Once he has the basics figured out, he loves it. He’s finally around likeminded people and he can finally put his geek knowledge to good use!

He’d give the best comic book recommendations, having read as many as he could get his hands on.

There would also be a table section for TTRPGs and card games.

The store would become a popular hangout for Magic the Gathering and Dungeons and Dragons.

Mikey would schedule themed days where people could dress up as their favourite characters for discounts.

He’d host live action role-playing events, board game nights, trivia contests and movie nights.

He would thoroughly let his geek flag fly and his store would be his pride and joy.

Raphael

Runs a motorcycle repair shop that also deals in custom paint jobs.

Co-owner with Casey Jones.

Raph has always loved fixing up and working with his bikes so this is an easy choice for him.

Casey still does vigilante stuff on the side but April is very relieved when he goes into this partnership with Raph.

It’s Casey’s idea to add the customization of bikes alongside the repairs.

The two of them do butt heads initially while learning how to run it but once they have it down they become a good team.

Difficult customers have no chance when dealing with these two.

Shortchanged? Have fun getting your bike back.

"You could’ve fixed it better? Be my guest and don’t come back, asshole."

"Yeah, we can get the part, no we aint’t gettin’ it from your shady buddy’s backyard business."

Besides the odd jerk-off customer, Raph thoroughly enjoys his work.

He also uses the garage to work on his own custom bikes. Occasionally he’ll sell them and it becomes hugely popular.

Eventually he starts auctioning them off and donating a part of the proceeds to charity.

He’ll take a lot of pride in his work and finds he really enjoys making an honest living.

He’ll still do patrols with his brothers and keep up with his training.

Leonardo

Owner and Sensei of The Green Dragon Dojo.

This just made perfect sense for Leo. He loved training and all things martial arts so why not pass on his skills to those who wanted to learn.

He teaches adults and children alike.

He secretly prefers teaching the little ones though.

He loves their eagerness to learn and how they call him ‘Sensei Leo’.

He does end up creating a small team to do martial arts competitions.

His students almost always win.

His classes become so popular that Leo finds he needs to hire more help.

In my headcanon he’s made peace with Karai and The Foot Clan and decides to go to them.

Karai is very pleased he’s asking for her help and agrees to teach classes alongside him.

Leo still leads his brothers in patrols but is more relaxed than he used to be, due in part from getting older and now having an outlet to teach.

Donatello

Donnie creates his own company.

Owner and CEO of Hamato Tech.

It has a research lab with a whole section dedicated to his inventions.

He��s dedicated to the betterment of mankind and creates patents for all of his inventions.

He finally has the resources and funding needed to complete his many projects.

Super nice guy to work for, loved by all of his employees.

He accepts students for paid internships.

He has a preference for underprivileged students. The ones that wouldn't normally receive this kind of opportunity.

He wants to give keen young minds the opportunities he never had while growing up.

It would take many years but he would eventually have a huge discovery that would result in him getting nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize.

He’d win it too.

For someone so smart, so experienced even, her question is adorably naive

She sips from her glass again, and you practically see the gears turning in her head

She realises- she has never seen you drink any of her wine before, nor any other type of alcohol

When you pick up the conversation with more gossip around the castle, it’s like the entire interaction didn’t happen

You don’t bring it up again, nor does she

Still, the next day, at your lunch date, you notice she has a glass of wine, and a glass of water

With a smile, she offers it to you

Cassandra isn’t the biggest fan of wine

Sure, she’ll have it, but it barely has any effect on her. She’s mostly in it for the blood

Her eyes are set on you

“At all?”, she asks

She shrugs, then; “Okay”

You watch her as she gets up wordlessly, setting the bottle aside by another table

She downs the glass in one go, then- to your surprise- retrieves water

Never have you seen her drink that before

When she sits again, she gestures for you to continue

Still, your rant is quickly interrupted by your giggles when she takes a sip

Her face turns sour, a mix of a frown and pout on it as she spits the water back in the glass and sticks her tongue out

“This has no flavor at all!”, she complains, throwing another meat cube in her mouth

You can’t help but laugh at her

Again, your rant it interrupted for a moment, and you laugh loudly when she swarms off and returns with the glass filled with fresh blood

She likes to drink wine, really, having somewhat grown up with it

Ever since reaching a stage in her life in which she could control herself- her blood lust, her feelings, her emotions- easily, she was allowed to taste not only the blood of servants and prey, but also the finer taste of her family’s rich and infamous bottle: sanguis virginis

Therefore, you wouldn’t call her much of a drinker, much less an alcoholic

Though, you know wine is a part of her culture and something she generally enjoys, given the right time and combination with something else

She loves her usual with her meals, or mixed into some of it

It’s somewhat rare she uses it in her cooking, though, often opting for having it herself only

If you didn’t know better, you’d think she knows you don’t drink and isn’t sure whether this applies to wine used in cooking, too

Of course, she picked up on it early on

Being quiet and having quite many dolls set up to give her multiple perspectives, Donna is not only great at reading people, but is very perceptive too

Barbatos: He wanted to present a perfect rosebush he worked on growing in the shape of Leviathan. But it was too distracting so Levi destroyed it and Barb was to hang for thinking he could replicate Levi's beauty with plants.

Glasyalabolas: He intentionally seeks out MC, in attempts to spend alot of time with them in order to agitate his Majesty. He's even taken off the top half of his uniform to show off his form and let MC put their hand through his chest...which didn't last long because Leviathan immediately dragged him back to the palace by his rope to hang.

Orias: Oh the usual, he tried to get his soul...steal his life force, pulled all the pranks he could because he assumed he'd be distracted by his birthday and MC. He even put poison in a cupcake and tricked MC into delivering it. Ofc Levi suspected it and every plan failed. Up he goes!

Overall: None of these nobles work together, too jealous of one another and wanting to one up on who's praising Levi the most. Sadly, it's even certain that Levi would hate it more if his nobles planned something together for him anyway. How dare they all work together to waste time? Well it is for him. It's considered inhumane to separate a pup from their family before they can scent other people as well as be scented

Pups need a lot more protein than adults do

Normally a litter contains 2-3 pups, but having more or less isn't uncommon, I will say having more than 5 is practically unheard of

As pups grow older they lose a lot of the body language that they used as kids, they don't really need a lot of it as they progress into adulthood

That's not to say people don't keep a few of their childhood quirks though

I think pups in omegaverse tend to do a lot of developmental things earlier than actual children lol things like crawling, walking, etc

For a lot of their childhood they don't have their own scent they just smell like their parents, possibly their entire pack depending on the dynamics, so scenting them doesn't really... Stick

Since omegaverse relies so heavily on non verbal cues, body language, and noises that aren't words, it's important that pups are heavily (but gradually) socialized as early as 10 months

Pups aren't born blind but they are born with anosmia (can't smell, poor thang) but overtime the ability gets stronger, and jumpstarts when they get their first heat/rut

Smell like their parents, don't have a scent of their own

The bigger the litter the smaller the babies tend to be

Normally start crawling by about 5-6months and walking isn't far behind

This is also about the time they start to have very small bits of solid foods, especially things containing soy, or just yogurt is a good choice

𑁍 7-9 months

Will start to get territorial. Will cry if other people are in the house for too long, or throw tantrums if that person touches their parents or a toy, might even start hiding toys from their pack if it's perceived as theirs

Should be somewhat competent at walking by the time 9 months hits, may also start biting and tearing at furniture at this time

This is also a great time to introduce bite sized soft meats

Socializing pups has started to become crucial to development here, meeting people outside of their pack is now becoming important

𑁍 10-12 months

Teething is a pretty bad experience for pups. Sharp teeth piercing gums hurts a lot. Don't be surprised if they already have a couple teeth by this time

Teething may also set back pups from speaking for a while, most people aren't much inclined to talk (or learn how to talk) when their mouth hurts

By this time they probably have a favorite scent or smell. Don't be surprised if it's a food or a perfume that someone in their pack wears. They still can't really smell the scents of the people around them, but scents and pheromones have a lot of sway a pups development

Are yipping and yowling by 12 months, as well as engaging in healthy rough and tumble

Separation anxiety is also to be expected

𑁍 1-3 years

Toddlers sometimes talk later than they should and speak almost exclusively through body language and a few open mouthed sounds so their teeth don't click together

They're probably gonna have over exaggerated body language. Instead of just tilting their head to the side to show curiosity they might practically bend at the waist or throw themselves to the ground entirely

Their nails harden and begin becoming claws, will soon begin to scratch on harder things to experiment with a different type of cause and effect, as well sensory experiences

Beginning playdates with pups around the same age is recommended, as well as giving them a security object of their choice that's heavily scented by their pack

By 3 is using those new claws to dig into whatever possible and climb as high as they can. Pup proofing is a must.

May crouch onto all fours when they run, and may have trouble losing momentum when they go too fast resulting in a lot of falls

Teething should be basically done by now and speaking should be back on track or jumpstarted in a couple months

Territorialness should be calming down. They should stop outwardly objecting to foreign people and objects being in their space

𑁍 4-5 years

Should begin to use more vocal communication beside their spoken and body language (like yipping, yowling, chuffing, and in some instances barking or howling)

Will also repeat sounds or actions that typically belong to omegas, betas, alphas, or all three despite not having matured yet

They should also start copying the motions to scent people, and it is advised to correct them when they do the motions in inappropriate situations

𑁍 6-8 years

So much yipping. When they play. When they're sad. When they're bored. When they're hurt. Especially if they're particularly vocal.

Nose is finally sensitive enough to pick up on natural scents and pheromones. Might start telling you that someone stinks in inappropriate settings

Is just barely beginning to develop their own scent by 7, and is able to scent and be scented by 8

It's very common for pups to play too rough. Playdates ending with a little blood isn't anything to worry about unless it's actually excessive

Pups lick everything and anything possible, especially if it has an odd smell, they should basically be grown out of it by about middle school age tho

Should start to present somewhere in this time frame.

Their scent should be fully developed by 12.

They'll probably be pretty active, and easily become stir crazy

They should start using words more than vocalisation and purposeful body language

Pups who develop early may get their heats/ruts at this time

Some may begin to start branching away from the pack and subconsciously looking to start another one

First heat/ruts tend to occur around 13-15 years old

Omegas tend to mature first

Litter mates tend to mature one after the other, sometimes with only days between each other

Minor vocalisation will progress into adulthood and any purposefully telegraphed body language should become second nature to them

Many pups display highly aggressive behavior or displeased scents for many of their teen years. Without proper stress relief moodiness and build up in their scent glands is common

"Steven, what are the chances that we both had terrible dates on the same night?” You pose the question.

You and Steven tipped the server at the steakhouse and walked home, arms linked.

“At least you had a date. I guess I misunderstood... I thought today was Friday.”

“You thought today was…”

Something is up. You and Steven sit side-by-side on the couch, arms touching from shoulders to elbows, feet stretched out on an old trunk that doubles as a coffee table

You remind Steven that he was visiting his mom on Friday - even missed work because of it

Something strange happens to him then. He gets flustered and he can't seem to string together a coherent sentence.

Then he goes completely statue-like, and deadly quiet. His breathing changes - it slows. And almost imperceptibly, he pulls away from you.

You ask if he's ok. He nods once, pushes off the couch and starts to walk away. "Just tired." His voice sounds different.

Did you say something wrong? Maybe he just feels terrible for getting stood up. Yeah, that's probably it. He's embarrassed.

You scurry behind him, reaching for his arm. He always likes your hugs, so you try to hug him.

You just want to see the tiniest smile from him, or at least to remind him that he's wonderful and it's Dylan's loss.

He stiffens at your touch - then he gently shrugs you off and says goodnight.

You feel like he's punched you square in the chest. Seriously, your breathing is affected.

The next morning, you find Steven talking to Gus - an adorable habit of his. "If you're Gus, then I'm the bloody Queen of Sheba," he mutters.

Things get weirder. Steven misses more work shifts, but whenever you ask him about it, he shrugs you off and acts different. Maybe this is why he can't keep a roommate?

One day, after you switch from the train to the bus, on the final leg of the trip home, you notice a man watching you. In fact, you're pretty sure he was watching you on the train too. He's followed you onto the bus.

Steven wasn't at work today, so you're alone. Maybe you're just paranoid.

When you exit the bus at your stop, the same man exits behind you. Your heart beats wildly - you pick up your pace. So does he. You turn to take a different path home. He's not ten paces behind you.

Just when you think you might break out into a run, a hand grabs your arm. With a yelp, you see that it's Steven. He doesn't smile or give you a typical greeting. His hair is pushed back from his face, styled neatly.

"Come on, let's get you home." What is going on? He doesn't even sound British. He takes your hand and pulls you along.

"S-Steven?" You ask. "Where were you today? I thought you were sick."

"Not now," he answers, in a hushed tone. "It's not safe." He says nothing else. He simply maneuvers you home, keeping a possessive hold on you.

His mouth is set in a firm, thin line. His dark eyes scan your surroundings for danger. His defined jaw clenches in determination.

You're so confused, but you feel safe. "Thank you," you gasp.

He spares you a glance and a nod. Then he tucks you into the door of your flat and gives instructions. "Stay here. I'll be right back."

You protest.

"I just wanna make sure it's safe. Stay here." He leaves.

so, home spawn points!

- are they considered a form of home security system, or some kind of safety feature like having a fire extinguisher around (or maybe both)? are they something that comes standard with inkfish homes, or is it an income-related thing where not everyone can afford one?

- do they have any additional purposes like maybe transportation (like can they be hooked up to other spawn points to quickly teleport an inkfish home)?

- how did the salmonids know where it was, and that they needed to disconnect it? makes me think they've been watching cress for quite some time...

[DISCLAIMER: the following post is full of headcanon, extrapolated from what canon information there is or just What I Think Makes Sense] i have SOOO many thoughts about spawn points i'll try and not get side tracked and answer the questions LOL Communal spawn points are located on rooftops of residential buildings, where the building owner pays to maintain it and it's expected that only residents of that building use it, and in public places around the city, funded by the city. The nearest spawn point to Cress falls under that first category.

I last minute threw some spawn points of the rooftops of some nearby buildings in the last panel. So to answer the last question, the Salmonids knew that the spawn point was on the roof, because that's where it always is for an apartment building. This comic takes place some time before S3 era, so the one-man flying spawn points aren't in common use yet. I'd imagine hi-tech communal spawns are less common in less affluent areas and areas with low populations of inkfish vs other species, and extremely rare in the octarian domes due to electricity demands. I'd think there'd be more low-tech, slower ways to respawn, but the modern style of machinery is truly the best way to do it. the spawn points have two purposes: -to revive an inkfish in case of an accident at home/public space -navigation

The spawn points themselves aren't teleporters, but rather the kettles are, kind of- the way i think that works is that the kettles turn the inkling's genetic info and soul into a gaseous form, and the spawn point functions as a receiver and can rebuild the body from there- anyway. The main way inkfish get around is by super jumping, and to super jump to a far away location, you need an electromagnetic signal to hone in on, like radio waves from a radio tower, a satellite dish, or a spawn point. this signal emitted from the spawn points helps not only with guidance for super jumping, but it also helps guide the soul of a downed inkfish to it. The signals of each of these spawn points Feel different (maybe depending on what ink color it's loaded with, or particular to the machine itself, or both), and it'd be much much easier to hone in on the signal of a far away spawn point you're used to and have physically been to before than one you haven't. Cell phones are also built to pick up these signals from spawn points, kind of like wifi networks. Also like wifi networks, you can register a spawn point as a "home" spawn point, and your phone can notify you if it suddenly goes out or if it's been reloaded with a different color or something.
