Imagine you were a mixed race boy born in Hertfordshire, different from everyone else around you. Bullied in school, being raised by your father to compete in a sport where money is very much of essence and you and your family do not have a lot of it. And then you meet this other boy who comes from the kind of life you dream to live one day. You're friends and fierce competitors. You find solace in each other. You visit Monaco for the first time with your friend, dreaming up the life you will have when you make it, when you beat out of the mould that the world thought it could capture you in.

And then you two grow through the ranks and you're at the pinnacle of your sport and you have what it takes to win and the world recognises that you can win. And you win. You win with your friend and fiercest competitor by your side fighting with you for those wins, and this fighting ruins something something that was valuable to both of you when you were still innocent and unsullied by life.

But despite everything that went into the doing and undoing of this relationship, you still realise that this person you once called a friend has a life and family beyond your bitter dynamic. He has children, and children need love and affection and good memories. And you're a better man now so you understand that. So you make sure the kids get gifts on Christmas. And you make sure of it every year. Afterall, if you met someone you loved deeply when you were both kids, wouldn't you feel a pang of nostalgia when they had kids. Wouldn't you try to extend the warmth that you couldn't find for your friend to his children. Afterall, whatever happens during childhood basically remains with you forever.

ive never liked powerless saiki aus because the entire conclusion of the series is him accepting his powers as being a part of him that he cant change so like.. in aus where the power remover works, half of his development is erased..

if he had been "powerless" for longer, we wouldve gotten to see him realize this himself and im genuinely sad that we didnt.. we got to see him realize that being powerless wasnt the change he wished it would be and that its something he cant change, but its literally over a two day long period and we miss out on sooo much potential development..

and then in aus where hes born powerless, people think he would have the exact personality and development that he THOUGHT he would if he got rid of/didnt have his powers, like NO ? "without powers he would be another satou-" NO he would be a shy, borderline flamboyant, weird, awkward, genius LOSER.

he would have a more normal relationship with his brother (still probably competitive but in a way more average sibling way and kusuke wouldnt have had the motivation to become so murderous) and he would probably be even more friendless but with less trauma.. he may or may not have ever befriended akechi at all, and the classroom incident wouldnt have happened.. even some of his current friends might not be around if not for coincidences due to his powers or direct involvement from his powers.. (nendo and kaido would for sure still be there though, but this only ensures the idea that he would be the biggest fcking loser ever)

he would still be saiki, but. his powers are a key part of him. he would be totally different without them, but NOT in the way he thinks he would..

Listen, focusing on a person's relationships/friendships with a bunch of people and their very strong relationship with a particular person are not mutually exclusive things. It is true there is a focus on bonds and the main character's relationship with multiple people as there is a very clear focus on their relationship with one particular person.

This is Sunset, she's a wildfire druid! I affectionately describe her as a Kpop Druid, because she's very cosmopolitan in presentation - no humble homespun goods for my girl. She's Gucci or she goes home.

She's the spitfire heir to her family's ancient legacy - the keepers of an incredibly powerful (and incredibly cursed) ring that slowly but surely drives the bearer insane. There is no option to leave the ring alone because without a ring bearer, the magic will go unchecked and unleash havoc throughout the lands. As such, the ringbearer has the twofold duty of controlling the ring and keeping it secret, keeping it safe or else it could fall to the hands of less... savory individuals that would use the ring's power for destruction.

Presently, her Dad is the ringbearer (and slowly going insane as a result). Sunset is desperate to show off her strength and prove that she can inherit the ring so she can save her Dad from total insanity. And psssh, of course, she won't go mad from wearing it because she's built different. No skill issues to be found here. If Dad could just hurry up and let her inherit!!! That would solve all their problems, thank you.

The trouble is, for some unfathomable reason, her Dad doesn't want her to inherit the ring (ever if only that was possible - and it might be if his secret schemes bear fruit). He keeps pushing her to do other things like singing and dancing (which she is very good at, naturally). But she will inherit that ring and this is non-negotiable.

(In case it isn't obvious, Sunset's backstory is absolutely based off Marceline the Vampire Queen and dear Simon Petrikov. Fire instead of Ice. Sunset's a popstar to Marcy's rockstar. Note to self: put some points in performance.)

1) Finally some updates! Glad to see Yuu Watase recovered.

2) I FLIPPING KNEW Karumu was going to be Tatara!!!! But by golly is this going to be painful because not only did he now lose all of his family, Suzuno went from being a little younger to a lot older than him. Their romance we already know does not end happily; does this mean poor Karu/Tatara will spend his life starting now mourning his brother and pining after Suzuno who won’t be able to reciprocate until he’s older after 3-4+ years, but then that’s when she’ll be lost to him forever and he’ll never see her again for the rest of his life (since in only in the Fushigu Yuugi anime it’s implied they are together in death.)? 😢😢😢
