maybe this is just me but i felt like the most out of character thing percys done was encourage annabeth to forgive her dad and step mom because i know damm well if he knew the fact that annabeth was basically neglected to hell and back by her dad and stepmom and was treated like absolute shit by her stepmom he would not say this shit

i don't think ashton is a selfish douchebag that thinks only his trauma matters for the same reason i don't think orym is a selfish douchebag that thinks only his trauma matters. i don't think anybody here is any more selfish or thinks they have more of a foothold in the argument than anybody else.
"they're just whiny and selfish" is such juvenile character criticism and every single character except fearne and braius has gotten it. if you mean you think they're unfairly biased, say that because it's far more condusive to an actual discussion than the former which serves as just insult-slinging.

im new here- is dean abusive?
imo yeah. smarter people than me have written dissections of the way he treats sam & others (he’s also Awful to his psuedo-son jack, but i haven’t gotten to that season yet), i’ve probably reblogged a bunch of them.
he certainly doesn’t mean to be & i don’t say it to condemn him as a person or as a character & i’m still very attached to him & he loves sam very much (not that that makes a difference in whether u abuse someone or not) - but the way he treats sam a lot/some of the time is emotionally abusive and sam is clearly badly impacted. s4 and s8 come to mind as his worst moments also ofc moc era - after that there’s less interpersonal conflict (up to where i am at least) but that’s because sam mostly stops disagreeing with dean not because dean actually gets much better <3 spn is cycles of abuse show after all. family is hell. dean’s learnt pretty much everything about how to behave from his abusive father and as a result. well. cycle continues

Very strange to me that the longer supernatural went on, the kinder it was to John Winchester and the uglier it made Chuck.
There’s something very. I don’t know. “Don’t blame your father, your father never did anything wrong. Blame God. Blame this thing that’s been secretly making your life worse this whole time, pulling the strings, controlling you and everyone around you.”
And the further we get into the show, the more Chuck becomes a Writer, rather than it being about God as a Father. (Never completely losing that aspect, obviously, just like Chuck was always a writer, but one of these parallels clearly superceded the other in terms of importance to the story.)

I can sit and critique forever as I am the world's proudest hater but I do feel that a lot of the snark around Vengeful is just people crucially misunderstanding the point of the villains universe. it's fucking camp! everything is self aware and overdramatic and reads like a published (albeit very good) fanfiction. if you're in specific circles you absolutely recognise the tropes schwab is pulling from and the tongue in cheek references she makes and all of them are on some base level FUNNY. I don't think it can be read with 100% gravitas because as much as it is brutal and visceral and about extremely traumatized people desperately clutching onto each other because carrying on feels easier than trying something new, it is also a book in which the girlboss mafia leader queen gets taken out by a naked college quarterback . schwab likes nice and wrapped up endings and after dealing with stief and Muir it is a BREATH OF FRESH FUCKING AIRRRR

This may be a comic fan red flag to some but I have to say I genuinely do love Chuck Dixon's Ollie. Like yeah whenever I start thinking about it too hard I get pissed off about it and the way it goes against previous characterizations and important character beats presented in the same book etc etc but like by god is it funny. Like I'm sorry Ollie diehards I love him too but him calling Connor a bastard is probably a top 10 moment for me personally. I really do love it sm. Absolutely amazing, no notes, hypocrisy at its finest. V much like gee I wonder Ollie. Who's fault could that possibly be.

pretty sure i’ve talked abt this before but im always a lil bit cautious of stede stans who are like “he’s done nothing wrong ever in his life” bc like i know it’s like a silly joke meme but stede has made. SEVERAL blunders that specifically have to do with his whiteness and how blind he is to his own privilege. and while i love stede very much (despite what some anons seem to believe lmao) i’m not comfortable making He’s Done Nothing Wrong jokes abt him
