More Baby Annabeth thoughts to ruin your day:
In the show, Echidna explains that monsters trach demigods by smelling their fear; itā€™s part of the hunt. Once a demigod is aware of who they are and why theyā€™re in danger, monsters will come for them. Annabeth was constantly hunted by monsters from the age of 5. MEANING THIS LITTLE BABY ANGLE WAS SCARED AND ALL HER STEPMOTHER AND FATHER DID WAS MAKE HER FEEL LIKE ITS HER FAULT!!! SHE WAS SO ALIENATED FOR TWO YEARS AND BLAMED HERSELF!!!

Fredrick Chase put his new life over his daughter. Every chance he got he chose them.
Athena put her pride over her daughter. She never let anything g go even if it means her death
Luke Castellan put his need for glory over his sister. Even though he promised
Percy Jackson put her life over his own. Every single time, from the St. Louis Arch to the Manhattan Bridge to the depths of Tartarus. Every single time her over him.

The scene in which Percy witnesses the sirenā€™s call to Annabeth
I think about this moment all the time. Annabeth insists on listening to the sirens, because of course she does. After she escapes, Percy manages to catch her and when he does, he is able to see her vision. In it, Fredrick Chase, Athena, and Luke welcome Annabeth into a redesigned New York, one that Annabeth herself presumably designed. It was grander than Mount Olympus.
But while everything in this new world was seemingly perfect, it was missing one thing. It didnā€™t feature her best friend, Percy Jackson. But there is a specific reason for this.
Its because Percy didnā€™t need fixing.
Everything in Annabethā€™s vision was something that was broken in her life. Her relationship with her parents, their relationship with each other, Lukeā€™s betrayal, and the world as a whole being rife with homeless and war. Each of the pieces of her vision were broken.
And Annabeth was the one to fix them. Her perfect world featured all of the broken pieces of her life fixed. But Percy wasnā€™t there,
Because Percy didnā€™t need fixing
Annabeth didnā€™t see Percy as broken, so she didnā€™t feel as if he needed fixing. He was really the one stable piece of her life, her best friend, and he didnā€™t need fixing.
She truly loved him enough that even her fatal flaw of hubris couldnā€™t touch him.
That is why Percy Jackson wasnā€™t in Annabeth Chaseā€™s vision. Not because she didnā€™t see him as an important part of her life, but because he didnā€™t need fixing.
And if that isnā€™t love, I donā€™t know what is

Sometimes I wonder how much the mortal parents of demigods know before hand about raising a demigod child. (The ones who the gods reveal themselves to anyways.) Like what, if anything, do the gods tell their lovers?
Did Fredrick Chase have to get an Ancient Greek to English dictionary when his daughter started speaking in an ancient dialect of a language he doesnā€™t know?
Did Sally Jackson get any heads up before having to figure out how to bath a baby who is literally waterproof when he wants to be?
Did Naomi Solace have to figure how to put a baby to sleep who can glow in the dark?
Itā€™s really clear that Esperanza Valdez didnā€™t know that her son might be fireproof given how much she freaked out when she found him sleeping in a bed of coals.
Just the idea of these very human parents trying to raise their inhuman children and having no idea how to do it or what to expect.

I want to know what goes through Fredrickā€™s head on Annabethā€™s birthday.
Does he even remember itā€™s her birthday?
Does he feel regretful about not showing her the love she needed?
Does he not care at all?
I need to know what he thinks if he remembers, if he sees the date and his mind flashes to a tiny seven-year old Annabeth before realizing sheā€™s not that little girl anymore, sheā€™s grown up and he didnā€™t get to see it.

maybe this is just me but i felt like the most out of character thing percys done was encourage annabeth to forgive her dad and step mom because i know damm well if he knew the fact that annabeth was basically neglected to hell and back by her dad and stepmom and was treated like absolute shit by her stepmom he would not say this shit

Annabeth forgave her dad, let it go
A person reconciling with a neglectful and/or abuse parent in real life is a very personal choice that you have the right to make for yourself.
A character who grew up in an abusive and/or neglectful house in fiction, only to have this neglect invalidated by the author, is a totally different matter. Personally I never felt that Rick gave me enough reason to believe Frederick is redeemed. Also he's fictional and my opinion won't hurt him. I just don't like him.
At the end of the day we're all going to interpret these things differently and I welcome you to disagree if you feel like it.

So I was reading your Athena & Apollo headcanons and it made me think of a hc to help fill a (very mild but infinitely frustrating) plot hole in the books! (Well, plot hole is stretching it, itā€™s not even a plot dent, more like a detail inconsistency that affects Literally Nothing but it has driven me crazy since I read mcga)
The detail in question: Why are all of Athenaā€™s kids blonde and (possibly) curly-haired, when Annabeth is said to get her hair from her dad and Athena has never actually appeared as a blonde? (Aside from that time in Sea of Monsters but tbf that was a hallucination so possibly not accurate). Itā€™s bothered me for a while, because Athena doesnā€™t Do romance and therefore it wouldnā€™t really make sense for her to have a Type, right? Why would someone attracted to mortalā€™s intellect care about their hair color? I guess I just figured sheā€™d been blonde for a while and decided to go brunette later, but the ā€œdumb blondeā€ stereotype has been around for a long time, having been especially prevalent since the ā€˜50s, and I canā€™t imagine Athena to want to be seen as anything less than the smartest person in the room.
But then your hcs got me thinkingā€¦ we know that Athena is very proud, but sheā€™s also deeply insecure. Like, ā€œshe got made fun of for playing the flute One Time by two goddesses known to be bitchy that she already did not get along with and threw it into the woods with a curse and refused to pick it up again (until Apollo coaxed her to)ā€ insecure. And she doesnā€™t have very many friends, does she? Apolloā€™s kind of all she has, other than mortals, but her relationship with mortals is that of a devotee and a god. Reverence is not the same thing as connection. But Apollo, who is in a similar boat to her, makes connections so easily! Even at his worst, he makes people like him against both his and their will. Even his relationships with his devotees wereā€¦ well they were messy lbr but they were also very genuine, most of the time. There was something more, there.
So, all this rambling to say: what if the reason Athenaā€™s kids all look so similar is because Athena chose to look like Apollo? I donā€™t think she chose to act like him, but. I dunno. Maybe she thought mortals would like her better if she looked more like her pretty, popular brother. Sheā€™s always had to listen to people, mortals and immortals alike, praise her brother for just about everything while she had to fight for even a scrap of respect. Maybe she thought she could absorb at least a little of that something that makes people genuinely like him. That something that draws her to him again and again. Maybe itā€™s like armor, pulling on her brotherā€™s face. If they donā€™t like her, itā€™s not because itā€™s her, right? Apolloā€™s been driving everybody crazy lately, anywayā€¦ (and yet, heā€™s still more beloved than herā€¦)
And that ALSO feeds into my preexisting headcanons about Apollo looking like a Chase, which is fun!! (I think his modern godly form looks more similar to Magnus but Lester has a face/hair texture that is really, really similar to annabethā€™s! So when he bashes the two forms together he makes the two of them look even more like siblings because heā€™s basically a bridge between the two of them, lol. But his old godly form looked strikingly similar to Annabeth in a lot of waysā€¦ hmmmm.)
Anyway itā€™s kind of a convoluted hc and once again falls into the ā€œApollo is the specialist little guy in the WORLDā€ mindset but I!!! Just like it!!!! When siblings are weird and messy!!! And admiration gets mixed up with jealousy and genuine affection is twisted by circumstance and time!!! And identity issues!!! And loneliness!!! Itā€™s latching on to someone and having them be your whole world when you know that youā€™re just a small part of theirs!!! AUGHHH. Weird fucked up Olympus dynamics my belovedddd
HELLO LONG ASK
I never noticed this before, but this explanation seems InterestingšŸ‘€
And don't worry, this fandom basically goes "AND THIS IS WHY APOLLO IS [insert description here" ALL the time XD
BUT YES THE COMPLICATED RELATIONSHIP EAT THEM UP WE ARE EATING THEM TOGETHER!!! :D

The difference between how Percy and Annabeth were raised:
*Percy and Annabeth on a quest when they are about 13-14*
Percy: *waiting Annabeth to start the car so they can travel faster for the quest* Come on we gonna be late!
Annabeth: Almost got it- *trying to start the car*
Percy: Where did you learn how to drive? You are not old enough
Annabeth: Watched my dad flying a plane-
Percy: My mom would freak if she sees me in a car right now
Annabeth: My dad would just ask me about the car's model and parts *shrugs*

it honestly makes me sick to my stomach not knowing how Fredrick Chase reacted to his daughter running away
His SEVEN YEAR OLD with learning disabilities and arachnophobia essentially went missing and yet never is there any discussion about a report filed or him looking for her or ANYTHING
She was a CHILD initially on her own before being taken in my two other childrenā€¦out of contact for months before she got to an ā€œsafeā€ place and he didnā€™t do anything???? for months????? what the FUCK Richard

I know fandom hates Fredrick Chase (I see you, I hear you), but I feel like thereā€™s a lot of nuance to his character that people refuse to consider. Iā€™m not going to say anything about Annabethā€™s recollection of him from before she ran away at 7, because no one wants to hear that, and if I do, people will get mad. But letā€™s talk about Fredrick Chase.
I saw a post about him the other day, and his character has not left my mind since. Because honestly, I feel so much pity for him. No matter what you say about what type of parent he is, you have to acknowledge that he did not consent to becoming one. At least with other god and mortal relationships, a child is at least a known possibility, even if said child is not wanted (as sad as that is). With Fredrick and Athena, there was no sexual relationship. You would think a biological child wouldnā€™t be possible, but of course Athena has to have thought children, dropping them off unceremoniously at an unsuspecting mortalā€™s house just because their intelligence inspired a child.
I donā€™t know, just imagine having intellectual conversations with a woman and then one day she drops off a baby and says itā€™s yours despite all evidence saying that itā€™s impossible. And to top it all off, you never hear from her again.
Thereā€™s just no mental preparation whatsoever for Fredrick. Itā€™s not even something he thought to worry about because in what situation does only talking ever conclude with a living, breathing baby that shares your DNA?! Itā€™s just so messed up, and I think people need to consider that aspect of Fredrick before shit talking him.

it's the only child syndrome talking
Nobody can tell me that, for the briefest moment, when Sally told Percy about her pregnancy something in him broke. It wasn't his heart or anything like that. Just that little, naive part of him that was still the only son of a single mom who just wanted a family. The little part of him that growing up would blow out a candle in blue frosting and wish for his dad to come home. That part that still would scream into the seafoam hoping his father would just listen this time. Percy was always stuck between worlds like coins trapped between couch cushions just waiting to be discovered. He never quite belonged at Camp with the kids who had no one to go home to or with the mortal kids who never had to look over their shoulder counting down the days till their next birthday. No, Percy never fit anywhere but with his mom in their ratty apartments when it was just them against the world. And Percy liked Paul (probably even loved him but that sort of thing was hard to tell because he'd never had a healthy relationship with a father figure before) which made him feel even guiltier. For a brief second, as Sally is explaining everything, Percy pictures Fredrick Chase and he wonders if this is goodbye. If after this he has to leave because he's dangerous and unlucky and going to be a big brother. The way Sally says it, the desperation in her eyes for Percy to understand, she isn't throwing him away. She's asking him to stay, to be there for this baby like no one was for them. And Percy, the loyal and loving, could never say no to his mom.
