i feel bad about gwayne. the son who is left behind, separated from his parents at the age of 8, he lost his mother early, he practically does not know his sister, but he has a father whom he probably wants to impress at the tournament, show what heights he has reached, justify for himself the separation from his family. but he's losing. it doesn't matter that daemon chose unfair tactics, he is still losing. not only the tournament, but also the fight for his father's approval.

(next just my imagination) and i can see how otto comes to visit his wounded son and dryly says that he performed well. but his heavy gaze makes gwayne feel even worse because he can see the restrained disappointment and anger at him in his father's eyes (when in fact otto is angry only at daemon, because he intentionally harmed gwayne).

unspoken words, problems with expressing feelings, a long separation... i think the tournament could well have been the moment when gwayne stopped seeking his father's approval and affection. that's why he doesn't write letters to otto, and certainly doesn't expect them from him: he still loves and respects his father, but that day he accepted defeat and dropped out of the race for his attention.

Does anyone else ever think about the possibility of (in a marvel/dc crossover) Tim Drake getting adopted by Marc Specter/Steven Grant instead of Bruce

Like Tim’s parents decide to take him on an archaeological dig and they get murdered and Marc or Steven are there for reasons (mercenary? Archaeologist? *shrugs*) and he finds like a nine year old Tim and says “is anybody gonna adopt this?” And then doesn’t wait for an answer

Also I’m gonna say Khonshu is nice in this au he’s like the systems dad (Marc is his favorite child) and that Tim and Khonshu have an agreement that if something happens to Marc Tim will be the next Moonknight (Tim definitely becomes they’re Oracle)

Also Bruce and Steven/Marc start dating and that’s how he eventually adopts Tim as well Boom (they probably met because of Tim knowing the batfams ids)

inspired by russell his latest tweet i am reminded that this guy is just one soft romantic guy & because i feel like a lot of people think he is a walking anger complex, let me list some examples from just one (1) interview i read recently from 2005 where is being a big old cutie

- he relocated to sydney, because Danielle ( his ex-wife and partner at the time) was pregnant and wanted to be near doctors and hospitals and according to russell she was "100 percent in control", so he made sure to listen to her needs.

- he described taking charlie to his first football game and how he was just absolutely beaming with pride, being able to hold his kid and share that experience with him. "it was amazing, looking across at Danielle, who is smiling at me because Charlie is snuggled in my arms, and she knows that I am just on cloud nine because I have taken my little boy to a football match"

- he built a playing area at his farm for little charlie where he could play safely 🥹

and that is just from one interview. i believe him to be a romantic in the wider sense of the word too, and i always love how he is so fascinated by the human experience and the history of what we have been up to. [holds him tenderly]
