what if gaster in a future chapter calls out the audience for speculating so much about him. the guy canonically has some amount of access to Real Life Social Media. like i started this mostly as a joke but there are definitely some real metanarrative opportunities for a character with recklessly curious impulses, and possibly a fragile sense of self, having nearly limitless access to streams of debate over whether or not he’s a bastard. rude to talk about someone who’s listening etc
#this is very fast and loose character reading on my part but i do get the sense sometimes#that gaster may be asking some of the same questions of himself that we are of him.#’who are you? how should i feel about you? should i sympathize with you or be disgusted by you?’#i said ‘call out’ in the post but i don’t even necessarily think this is a matter of anger#so much as sincere confusion and ego-shattering overwhelm#a character so wrung out by the mechanisms of audience interpretation that even he has no idea who he is anymore#and he’s looking at the audience who looked so hard for him and spent so much energy tearing him apart for clues or answers#and saying ‘you want to know what i am. but you seem to know that better than i do. please tell me. tell me what you think.’#’because i want to know just as much as you do.’#…anyway this is not real speculation. just rambling on an idea i think would be cool lol#$ waltz of a shattered man

#Episodes that make me go “The author has never talked with a woman ever” 😓😓😓#I don't like how Lucy's character is handled at all. And I feel like I can't talk about it because I'm just going to sound like a bitter–#ss/kk shipper... But I really don't like it. And if it can help my case I'm a multishipper so I really don't take any–#issues with atsu/lucy I like the ship quite a lot actually.#So you're telling me there's this girl... Who meets this boy who pretty much ruined her life by directly causing her to lose her job...#And the next time she sees him she's going to sacrifice her own freedom for him as well as tell him “when you're done doing your things–#come and save me” (longest ewwww ever)... And when she regains freedom (author didn't bother to explain how because they don't care)–#she goes to work... As a waitress at the café beneath his workplace. So he can keep doing his Cool Superpowers Job while she literally–#must serve him every time he visits the place. It's just ?????????????????????????????????#Look‚ I don't dislike Lucy and I feel general affection towards her. It's just that they make her act like no one ever would#Just for the sake of the plot I guess#And like I knoww it's (probably just a little) more nuanced than that. I know Lucy is living her own fairy tale fantasy.#It's just that what I've said about her story is still true‚ you know?#I'm sorry but as sweet as atsu/lucy can be. He comes to his house seemingly to check on him and starts cleaning around.#The way he loves him and cherishes their friendship and shared history is really evident and it makes for a compelling dynamic.#Perhaps I should read their short story... like ok I’m in a group of 4 at my uni but we’re all in different cities now the degree is over, we have an online reading group with vague plans to meet up irl down the line. Problem is I’m dating one of them and I’m gonna break up with him, so that’ll mean cutting ties - we will lose the possibility of doing the reading group/ anything as a 4. my ideal situation (although it’s selfish) is to avoid becoming like separate friends where we all talk but only individually so what I really want is a new 3 w/o my bf - my bf has said to me a few times that the other 2 prefer me to him, I think it’s true and I think I’m closer with/ to them as people (my bf often complains about us as a three/ our communication style (plus- he has other friends he’s close to whereas I don’t)) but my problems are
a) that’s selfish b) how could I go about doing something that selfish (it’s at least so awkward, I’ve put a whole possible strategy in the tags though so not impossible) c) one of my 2 friends will probably want things to not be so harsh on one of us/ idk how to talk to him about something like that
my main question I guess is should I try it or is it too selfish? the only other options really are him getting our friends as a three and me staying in contact individually, or all of us staying in contact individually (which I guess wouldn’t be awful and we’d probably still meet up as a 3 sometimes? but I’d lose the reading group and easy regular contact), or the whole thing fizzing out
#I was thinking I should talk to friend no.1 and say like#I wanna continue the reading group with you#and we could invite friend no.2 and say like look this is what there is future reading group wise#like my bf’s thinking fully clashes (and tbh often can’t follow along with) our thinking/ discussion#and ours have our differences but it isn’t like night and day#and friend no.1 has said to me that when ppl break up they just need to fight over friends#so I could be pretty straight up with him and he won’t judge or be unsympathetic#and this friend no.1 - it’d be a leap I think to say all of that to him#but he’s literally told me drunk this whole spiel about how cool he thinks I am#and how mad he is that I don’t believe he likes me#so like - he likes me#he’s my friend#so it’s a leap I should just make I think#he particularly rates me as a thinker#like really rates me#so staying in a reading group feels prett clear?#also staying friends with my bf Not an option - he won’t want it and my friends won’t humour it#like they’ll know it’s not tenable#at least no.1 will and I respect him and myself too much to sit through that

The older I get, the less I like Halo 3, like gameplay, music and set piece wise it's GREAT and I absolutely love replaying it for those aspects, but the story, slight aesthetic changes and bad characterization is just..... Bleh. The only weird characterization I like is Chief and Arby being bros and that's honestly probably the best thing in the game that unfortunately hasn't been explored much(outside of the books, even then still should be explored more)

#like the sexism and ableism with Cortana. Jonhson constantly having to be rescued#Miranda. and Truth's entire personality doing a 180°(voice change is one thing but they just completely did away with how he was in 2)#Miranda died in a stupid way and MARTY FUCKIN O'DONNELL BEING THE REASON WHY JOHNSON DIED#oh and the aesthetic change of the elites and brutes just doesn't work for me and flood was so bad especially when it came to High Charity#going through a flood infested high charity would be so cool!! but it was tedious and downright ugly to look at#we could've revisited some of the Halo 2 high charity set pieces and see the change done by the flood#but no it was mostly just flesh and pustule hallways that are easy to get lost in#halo 3 is a lot of missed opportunities and most of that is just due to Microsoft pushing for crunch#h2 suffered from crunch and there were concepts lost due to crunch but with all things considered is just a much better story#and Arbiter taking such a big back seat in 3 was so disappointing#I could go on about how much Halo 3 sucks in a character and plot perspective#but I think its just going to be one of things where I should ignore the plot fully and enjoy the gameplay#I will say it IS weird when people complain about Chief and Arby being friends#yeah it could've been handled better but it was ultimately going to happen ajd it was one of the best aspects of 3

#I LIKE Dostoyevsky. I like how mysterious and unreadable he is. What is his goal!!!! Why does he do what he does!!!!!!! He's very cool#I think knowing his ability now REALLY adds to his character. Him being so smart so manipulative so disruptive in the way he–#seemingly kills people on touch! Only added to this impression of him being “demon” and “inhuman”#But now that we know his ability you realize... That's all his doing; no ability.#His ability in a way does help humanize him by reaffirming that except for the moment he dies– he's got no superpower at all!!!#It's just him.#And yet at the same time also solves the exact opposite role of dehumanizing him because if it's not his ability that makes him like *that*#then he's even different than other ability users!!! Then‚ if not an ability user‚ if not a non ability user: what is //he//?#It's all SO compelling!!! Also makes for an extremely insightful narrative parallel with Dazai#Not an ability user not a non ability user. Not good not evil. (I feel like Dostoyevsky does exceed the definitions of good and evil as–#much as Dazai does. If he causes evil‚ yet does so with the intention of bringing salvation to humans– is he really *simply* evil?)#Both have these borderline superpowers that make them extraordinary beings (we can call it super intelligence‚ but it goes from controlling#their own heartbit to everything else) but are unrelated to their respective abilities! Once again making them neither this or that#I find Karma's words at the end to be extremely insightful.“Ace was evil for sure‚ but this man isn't even evil.#He's a being from the beyond. A being that exceeds human limits.” Like!!! That's all that there is to it!!!!!!#Back to this chapter / episode. There's some themes / worldvies once again I don't agree with but narrative wise I think it's extraordinary#I feel like after the Guild arc the writing really matured a lot and this is a kind of preview of what the doa arc is going to be like#(aka very very well written especially if compared to the previous arcs)#The plot twists of this episode are all so unpredictable and exciting!!! I think it's remarkably witty how it takes advantages of previous–#clichés - villains always revealing details about their own ability in a way that is quite baffling - to actually surprise the audience.#It's so effective. How skillfully unpredictable Dostoyevsky is to the point you can never guess what he will do next!!!#Him killing Karma is... Idk so so soooooooo interesting. I could talk about this forever but I'm being very dispersive in the rable and–#running out of tags. The whole episode you're sorta rooting for Dostoyevsky. He's very cool and comes out charming in the way he keeps–#surprising the audience. He looks bothered by Ace's disregard of other people's lives and that makes him sympathetic too.#But then he kills Karma out of nowhere and it's an “Ah! Tbh, If you aren’t Black or Asian then I don’t think it’s fully appropriate to comment on like, any of this, especially even mentioning “the being at each others throats,” part if I’m being honest, like. Black ppl as a whole don’t really have much of an issue with anyone else, it’s usually just the other way around really and for the most part, we accept everyone (sometimes to a fault,) into our space and culture. Just as long as it’s not appropriative or making fun of us then it’s like, what can you do? There will always be conversations needed to be had in order to build some kind of common ground between poc but yeah.

I'm kind of sad that we didn't get the Buffy the Vampire Slayer leprechaun episode that the writers almost accidentally wrote. (Like, I guess Joss Whedon one time joked about wanting a leprechaun episode and the writers legit thought he was serious about it. And they were working on it, researching leprechaun myths and everything, and then he had to tell them that he'd been kidding.)
The closest thing we get to leprechaun in the Buffyverse is probably in the tie-in book (that's actually a "choose your own adventure book") "Colony." Where there seems to be something similar to a leprechaun, that Buffy keeps calling a leprechaun/comparing to a leprechaun. But it's not a leprechaun, because I guess leprechauns don't exist in the Buffyverse (part of me wonders if that was an inside joke about that aforementioned thing, but I have no idea. Probably not?) At least according to this tie-in novel.
#buffy the vampire slayer#part of me kind of wonders why NOT a leprechaun episode? we have other weird things. it could have potentially worked#and we could have tied in stuff with angel's home and past perhaps. idk. -shrugs-#side note: i love in the tie-in book buffy just seeing the leprechaun looking thing and getting all excited and going 'leprechaun!'#and angel in particular (i mean. the others kind of are too. like giles) just kind of shaking his head and going 'it's not a leprechaun'#and he knows because he fought the thing before. but i also wonder if it's because if leprechauns were real (which they aren't in this#story). they would have been in ireland according to legend. and angel grew up in ireland so he's like 'no buffy. no.'#anyway. now i'm reminded of how my sister and i. back in the day. always wanted a supernatural episode about dreamcatchers that never happe#*happened#i even started writing a fic about it more than a decade ago. i'd say i should have finished it--and i probably should have--but my writing#back then was so bad that even if i would have liked the story back#then by now i would hate said fic#and be wanting to rewrite it if nothing else#ANYWAY a dreamcatcher episode of supernatural in the early seasons would have been cool#you know... it would have been pretty great if the non-leprechaun thing in colony had somehow ended up being a leprechaun though.#thus proving buffy right#like maybe the other one angel had fought like it (or that he thought was like it) wasn't. but this one was. and thus everyone was wrong#that would have been a good twist and kind of funny. because it WAS leprechaun-y and i get why buffy was saying what she did i mean. lol#Oh. I should probably mention that the non-leprechaun thing in colony is a side thing. Not the main plot
