“I swear to you, General,” Fives pleaded. Why couldn’t he make them understand? Why did his mind feel so clouded? Why couldn’t he seem to control himself? “You have no idea–”

“Stand down, soldier!” The Coruscant Guard barked, at least half a dozen blasters pointed at him. “Stand down! Get on your knees!”

“No! No! No! Stay back!” Fives cried, eyeing Rex’s pistol on the crate nearby. Something whispered in the back of his mind to grab one– to defend himself. And despite his better judgment screaming at him that he knew better, he did it.

“Don’t do it! Don’t do it, soldier!” one Corrie shouted.

“Get away from me!” he heard himself scream as he lifted the pistol.

Rex pounded on the ray shield. “Fives, no!”

Fives smelled the smoldering plastoid and fabric before he heard or felt the shot. His head fell forward to see the burning hole in his gut. He’d been shot before–most clones had–but he’d never been hit so close to center mass. Commander Fox was a crack shot, for sure.

Distantly, he heard someone calling his name and the bark of orders flying high above his head, as he struggled to understand what was happening.

“-all for hel- ne- medic!” 

Oh, he thought. I’m dying. Took longer than I thought.

“Rex,” he gasped, unable to take a full breath in.

“Fives.”

Fives figured any cadet would be lying if they’d said they hadn’t thought about what he’d like his last words to be. He’d hear other squads talking about it and couldn’t stop himself from questioning how many of them would never be cursed a slow enough death to have true last words. 

But he realized that he was among the few who would. He needed to clear his name before he became just a number again.

“This… it’s bigger than any of us,” he rasped. “I-I never meant to… I only wanted to do my duty.”

“Brother,” Rex whispered. “Fives. Stay with me Fives! Fives, please!”

That was odd. Was Rex crying?

“The mission… the nightmares,” he wheezed as Rex pulled him up to embrace him. “They’re… finally over.”

“Fives. No-no, Fives, please just– Would someone call a kriffing medic?” he roared at the Corries watching. “Just hang on, Fives. Hang on. It’s not over yet, brother.”

His blurry, spotted vision could see a figure that looked somewhat like the general over his brother’s shoulder. “Rex, he’s not– the medic’s too far out.” 

Fives coughed as he managed a smirk. “Rex– o-ori’vod,” he said. His voice was coming out as a faint whisper now. “I-I’m…sorry, I… I can’t…”

He watched as Rex steeled himself. He’d seen that look so many times before. “It’s not your fault, Fives. It’s… it’s alright, kih’vod.” 

Something damp splattered on his face. Somewhere, in the back of what was left of his fading brain, he knew it was his captain’s tears. Still, it reminded him of rain– of home.

Rex sniffled. “You can let go, Fives. It’ll be okay.”

“R-Rex, d-don’t–” he coughed harshly, the frigid cold spreading into his chest. “Don’t… f-forget…”

Rex held his brother’s until he drew one last rattling breath and that clear, bright determination he’d seen in those shinies’ eyes on Rishi faded.

He stayed with him– with his body until someone came to take him away. He sat still on the floor of the hangar, unmoving, almost unbreathing. The gears of his mind spun and ground under the weight of Fives’ accusations. Something about it all just didn’t sit right.

Ni ne’ven digur, kih’vod, he swore to himself. Gar… ra ibic.

I’ll never quite get over just how integrated kids are into daily Jedi life and the implications of that.

Dooku’s Temple "job" for years seems to have been “teaching lightsaber preschool.” Sifo-Dyas, the guy with the scary doom visions? Oh yeah, they have him working with infants, bringing babies to the Temple as a Seeker. Jocasta Nu is constantly depicted interacting with the younger generation of Jedi, teaching, helping, or mentoring. In TCW, she knows all the Padawans on sight. 

There’s just something really ordinary and charming to me about this. Sure, Dooku is a terrifying 2m of spider limbs in a robe, but he’s still going down on one sinister knee to check out the little crying kid who got a finger crunched by one of those wooden training swords. How many of the TCW-era Jedi were once babies who played with Sifo-Dyas’s hair loopies or cuddled on his chest as he pointed his T-6 back toward the Temple after another successful Seeking mission? (Space is, after all, cold. 🥺) You just know Jocasta is in very reluctant possession of knowledge of every single teen Padawan drama, crush, or breakup. She tries to stay out of it, but she’s broken up fights and pulled particulars into her office for tea and a gentle lecture on the inherent self-destructiveness of gossip. 

And these are not “just some” Jedi - they are all combat trained, politically important, at the top of their rank and even each sit on the Council at some point in their lives. The Jedi Order really went “super powerful space wizards with laser swords, yeah, but they should also all definitely know how to change a diaper."

Why do I keep seeing transmascs and trans men insisting or implying that all trans men are "female socialized," or "understand the female experience," or "navigated the world as a woman." Because yeah, sure, that can be true for some people. especially if you weren't gnc at all as a kid and didn't crack your egg until well into adulthood, it makes sense.

But they don't stop at saying they had that experience. It always comes with an addendum that trans men, as a group, all can relate to this experience. I don't know about the entirety of my demographic, but I never got even a little bit of what some of them talk about. I didn't even believe that women were scared of going out at night until I kept consistently seeing them say it, online or wherever, for years. I never realized catcalling was a thing until I saw some women complaining about it on reddit.

But they posit it as some sort of, you're safer than cis men, right? You know what it's like? Which, on top of being patently, demonstrably false in the case of myself and many other trans men, holds some unpleasant and often outright hostile implications about trans women. And they always deny it, but if you can't even conceptualize someone like me who grew up gnc, and never got the bulk (or any?) of whatever we consider to be 'female socialization,' what does that say about what you think trans girls went through, growing up? I don't want to speak for them, as I've never experienced that firsthand, but I can guarantee that (if you're even a little bit obviously trans) people don't treat you like a cis kid of the opposite gender. By and large, they don't get treated like cis boys.

It just makes me mad that we're taking this inaccurate framework that (ever so conveniently) puts trans people into the box of our assumed birth gender, and trying to fancy it up and use it with a faux-progressive veneer; never mind the way that transphobes use it to bar trans women from being athletes, or using the bathroom, or having access to any gendered resources they need. It would be bad enough to try and dust it off and use it even if it were largely accurate, due to the aforementioned connections to outright transphobia, but it literally is patently false. Not in all cases, obviously, but why are we trying to revamp this untrue, inaccurate generalization and pretend that we can make it 'trans-inclusive?'

you know, what gets me about OoTP is that sirius decided to do the whole ‘don’t you have questions harry. shame.’ routine in PUBLIC. in front of everyone. he could’ve very, very easily done it in private, just taken harry aside for a minute and info-dumped but he didn’t.

and that’s honestly such an important part, i think.

like, for one, he sincerely thinks harry should be getting this information at the same time as everyone else, in the same method. it’s not something that’s meant to be hidden and whispered. he is essentially establishing that harry has a right to this knowledge. that’s something no else has done. even when dumbledore tells harry something, he doesn’t do it because harry should know, he does it bc harry needs to know, at that time.

i also think, another part is bc sirius realises that the kids are involved in this together. he saw the golden trio dynamics upfront in the shack, he knows these kids have his kid’s back and they will either find out from harry and/or they’re in as much danger (virtue of identity, proximity, and curiosity) and therefore must know as well. he can’t force the weasley parents to tell their kids, but he can put them in a position where they might just have to. yall ever think Shen Yuan went through like, internet withdrawal after being transmigrated into Shen Qingqiu? Like, he's canonically a NEET shut-in who did nothing but spend his time online, you can't tell me that for the first week or first few weeks of being SQQ he wasn't twitchy.

Like, reaching instinctively to his pockets for a phone that wasn't there, having an obsessive itch in the back of his mind that he should check and see if X or Y novel or webcomic has updated -- only to realize he can't anymore and being irritated by it. Wanting to go and see if there's new posts about this or that, but again realizing that he can't.

When he's bored or uncomfortable or just feels like wanting to escape he tries to go for his phone to distract himself, but oops! Not there anymore, and now he has to find a new and different way to distract himself from his feelings. And going through system notifications, quests, etc only does so much.

And there's that Tetris Effect too. SQQ makes a mistake while writing and instinctively goes to backspace on it except hey-ho that's not a keyboard and now he just dipped his pinkie into a bottle of ink or on a still-drying letter.

With him scrambling to fix his reputation and learn how to be a peak lord, I think his abrupt cold-turkey from all things internet would just be another straw on the camel's back that he promptly Ignores until it goes away on its own after he acclimates to his new surroundings.

Unless you're into clingy men, dating Gojo would be so annoying. This mf won't let you leave the room without asking where you're going. He's not gonna follow you, but don't take too long. Even if you're just using the bathroom, if he thinks you're taking too long, he's outside the door asking what you're doing.

God forbid you try to go out with friends who aren't also his friends. He'll tell you to go out, have fun, and he doesn't care. Until it's 3 hours later and you hear a very familiar voice from behind you responding to what your friend just said.

You know who they did the dirtiest in Arcane? Apart from Vander that is.

The answer is Mel. My baby girl lost her two boyfriends and I'm tired of pretending like I'm okay about it.

She gave everything to their dream.

"She wanted to use them." YES! At first! At first she thought they were a great investment. Then she came to love them with more sincerity and more care than many other relationships in the show. Sure some of the toxic things she'd learnt from her home tended to seep into the relationship, but she did everything she could to prune that away.

She loved them. She poured everything into their dream. Everything into helping Jayce get rid of Heimerdinger when he wanted to ban the research that could help Viktor, everything to help them both vote for peace and make the council decision unanimous. Everything to get back to them, after getting kidnapped! 🥺 After going through every version of hell, she immediately gravitated to where she would find them, 😭 find the only loves that had ever accepted her without necessarily demanding anything in return.

And Riot just took that away. And I'm tired of acting like I'm okay with it.

I'm tired of everyone saying Mel deserves better than Jayce and Viktor, tired of people shipping her with people she's never met (especially when the aim is just to give her someone who is not Jayce or Viktor), I'm tired of the strong independent black woman stereotype following Mel around when it's the LAST thing that she wants when she only just learnt to be soft with Jayce and open with her heart once again. I am tired of people calling her a manipulator as if her character arc ended there, as if she did not unlearn toxic love and traded it for the gentle bond she then had with her two favourite scientists.

I'm tired of people not acknowledging that she had to leave Piltover, not just because the Medarda family needed her, but also because her boys were gone. The family she had finally made for herself, the family she was willing to abandon her family name for. They're gone and I don't think Riot will ever be kind enough to give them back to her.

Everyone else, even Ekko sort of has a family to fall back to. Mel has successfully lost everyone. The fact that Lest is the closest person to Mel left says way too much about how awful this whole situation is.

And I am TIRED, I am so sick and TIRED, of people acting like she did not love Jayce and Viktor. I am so sick and tired of people acting like Jayce did not love her. It probably hurt him too to leave her behind.

The tragedy of them is that Jayce knew Mel still had the chance to refind her feet, but Viktor had only ever had Jayce, and Jayce would NEVER leave Viktor alone. And it hurts that Mel probably wished she could have gone with them, because now she has to start everything from scratch and barely anyone in the fandom acknowledges that side of her pain and I HATE IT!

Tim: Haha, no (he reaches for the package) do I need to sign for it?

Delivery Person: Oh- woah! (they hold the package away from him) Sorry, no can do, this needs to be collected by an adult. Are your parents in, or should I come back tomorrow?

(A cold gust of wind blows as Tim tries not to be mad about the all-too-common situation)

Tim, sighing: Right. I get it. Hold on.

(Tim goes to the kitchen to get his ID from his bag, but in his irritation, seems to be having trouble finding it in there)

Delivery person (out of sight): Oh! Hey, sorry for the trouble. And you're that kid's... parent?

Damian: Tim? No, I'm his brother.

Tim: 🤨???????

Delivery Person: Oh, cool, that's fine too, could you sign for this?

Damian: Sure?

Delivery Person: Awesome, thank you. Hope you and your little brother have a nice day!
