So usually when an imaginary friend is a real thing in a story, it’s either a demon or a ghost or some supernatural boogeyman that probably wants to eat the kid they’ve befriended (Mama, a couple of the Paranormal Activity movies), or “imaginary friends” are just treated as a real thing in the setting, and if a child just thinks hard enough they can manifest a friend into existence (Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends, Happy).

And somewhere in the middle is an area where the imaginary friend in question is real and they are supernatural, but they aren’t malevolent, and they aren’t entirely honest about what they are. Like maybe they’re a fairy or a god or some kind of boggle from mythology, but they just got caught by a six year old and they don’t have time to get into it, so they just go “…Yes. I’m your imaginary friend. We haven’t met. How do you do.” And then they stick around because they do love this kid, and if you’re a boggle from mythology in the modern day good food is really hard to come by.

And at some level. That’s what I think Hobbes is.

Side note, managed to sketch this dog's silly little bike seat head from a challenging angle and then got immediately terrified of potentially goofing it up in the inking stage.

Idk what's going on with people dreaming about your cats but I had a dream about Belphegor last night 😭

I was having a barbecue and I invited you (I guess we were neighbors?) and you brought him with. He was too small to get over the fence so you just let him run around the yard.

He was just scuttling around in the grass and every once in a while he would stop in front of me and just look up at me like this, with his face all scrunched up as if he was disgusted.

you managed to get his bow-leggedness, which isn't even something I've talked about online!! really good drawing

#I think his body parts are all growing at different speeds #so his legs are shaped for a chest that is wider than what he currently has #either that or he's just a bulldog boy #belphegor #that's a very cute dream

honestly I absolutely love the Avvar in Jaws of Hakkon. How they worship the gods, how they view the world around them, how accepting they are and just how interesting they are too. I absolutely despise how the Inquisitor and Companions make commentary as if they're stupid or wrong in their beliefs, or that they're "just crazy people who worship spirits".

The dialogue you don't choose or even the ones you do are on the line of condescending, and it's frankly insulting, especially that all options on the dialogue wheel fall on that line.

the Avvar are so fucking cool, I hate we only get a DLC with them. (I also miss the Chasind - I wish they weren't forgotten or left in the dirt by BioWare :( )
