DPxDC #22
(kind of a prequel/companion for #21 adding in my new OC whispers)
Danny is squatting in an abandoned building working on some tech he found in a dumpster.
??: *whispering* Numbers, the wind told me you are a protector and will keep me safe.
Danny turns his head to see a little blond girl in torn, dirty street clothes, maybe around age 10. The spirits around Danny all gain that soft look in their eyes when seeing something precious.
Danny aka Numbers: Well I can certainly try, what do you need? And what do I call you?
Little girl: *Whispering* I'm Whisper. Metas, especially young ones are trafficked. The wind sings to me, telling me secrets. Your secrets are many but you are a protector and can keep me safe.
Numbers tries to keep his face in check hearing the truth, pain, and fear in the young girl's words. Without hesitation, agrees to be her protector.
Numbers: Welp guess I'm a big brother (again). Okay, Whisper I will take you with me and protect you. You do not have to share anything at all about what you hear unless you want to, understand.
Whispers smile is blinding while she nods.
Numbers is well known to the other street kids as he's been living in Gotham for a few months and has good street cred. He is known to be kind to everyone and help anyone, especially with anything to do with numbers. Numbers is also well known for giving info to Red Hood on those who go against the rules of Crime Alley. Red Hood himself is supportive of Numbers, even though it's clear Numbers isn't a native Gothamite.
The kids of Crime Alley soon get used to Numbers and Whispers being inseparable and Numbers calling Whisper his sister. However, the street kids were not ready for what would become of the duo.
Whispers knowing now she would be safe did tell Numbers the secrets carried by the wind. Anything from the little things like someone tripped a few blocks over to a member of the Bats and Birds near, to the trafficking ring being set up outside Crime Alley.
Numbers knows he has to share the bigger things with Red Hood. Especially because Numbers has hung up his own vigilante suit. Racking his brain for how to share this information without letting people know it came from Whispers was actually easy to figure out. Numbers will say he's a psychopomp. Well, he can see and interact with ghosts since he himself is half dead but shhhh.
The spirits of Gotham are in abundance but he hasn't really interacted with them since coming here. He did listen to them when they told him Crime Alley run by Red Hood would make a good place to live.
Asking the ghosts to find out where Hood is was simple. A young male with a gruesome hole in his chest had shown them right to the rooftop Hood was chilling on. Numbers grabbed hold of Whisper and using his powers flew them to the top.
Numbers: Hello Red Hood! Lovely night for a rooftop stroll!
Red Hood gave a minuscule flinch.
Hood: Numbers! *grumbling* every time.
Hood: What do you got for me this time?
Hood notices that Numbers isn't alone for the first time. He inclines his head in a silent question.
Numbers: This is my little sister Whispers!
Whispers gives a small wave from beside him.
Numbers: And I got a new trafficking ring being set up at ____corner of ______ outside of Crime Alley. They haven't picked anyone up yet though.
Whisper nudges him. Leaning down so Whispers can talk to him
Whisper: *whispering* they are planning to head out in the morning.
Standing back up straight, Numbers turns his head to look at an empty spot, tilting his head like he's listening to something then turns to Hood.
Numbers: Actually you should hurry with dealing with them they are planning to head out in the morning.
Hood: Hmm okay, Numbers you always have the best intel but this is new even for you. Do you want to tell me how the info has changed since you've been standing here or?
Numbers: *sigh* only because you are Red Hood will I tell you. I am a psychopomp.
Hood stumped: okay cool I'll keep that to myself then, thank you for trusting me. Anything you learn from them you can tell me personally and I'll help in any way I can.
Hood quickly departed heading off to deal with the traffickers.
Whisper: *whispering* the wind sings his praise so much, even though his secrets burden him.
Numbers: The ghosts sing his praise too.

Holy Ground - Chapter 5
Summary:
Nobody knew that Azriel found his mate. Until she nearly died. This is the aftermath.
Warning:
Rhys Bashing (as usual), Inner Circle Bashing (kinda), Referenced/Implied Sexual Assault, Referenced/Implied Domestic Violence, Discussion of Religion(?), Chronic Injury/Pain/Illness, Minor Character Death (It's probably nobody you love), Magical Work Accidents, Explosions, Injuries
If any of this triggers you or makes you uncomfortable, please take care of your own mental health and don't read it.
âYou want to talk about it?â Her mate asked her flatly and Mor couldnât help but grimace.
"No," Mor said simply, her tone clipped. She had been hoping to avoid this conversation, but it seemed as though Emerie was not willing to let her off that easily. "There's nothing to talk about."
Her mate just snorted. âYeah, absolutely nothing,â she said sarcastically. âHow about the fact that the male that spend 500 years being in love with you, met his mate 2 years ago and hasnât said a single thing about it to any member of his family?â
"What do you want me to say, Em?" she asked with a sigh.
At the startâŠbefore Nesta had forced her to actually confront what she was feelingâŠBefore she actually thought about the fact, that noâŠit wasnât actually funny for Azriel to keep their mate from themâŠand it also wasnât normal for him. Of course, Azriel liked his privacy, it was something that he fiercely guarded, but he was alsoâŠhe wouldnât have actually hidden away his mate from his family. He would have introduced her, would have invited her to birthdays and Winter Solstice and StarfallâŠ
But he hadnât.Â
He had rather hidden away every trace of that relationship than actually talk to any of them about it.Â
âNesta told me that she laid into you,â Emerie said with a shrug. âYou did use Azriel, you know that, Mor.â
Mor's expression hardened at Emerie's words.Â
Emerie was right. She had used him.Â
Of course, at the timeâŠshe had been desperate, afraid of the feelings that she had been havingâŠwilling to hide them⊠but the way she had gone about it hadnât beenâŠIt hadnât been fair.Â
She just didnât like to reflect on that.Â
"It doesn't matter now, Em," she said flatly. "It's in the past."
âIs it?â Emerie asked, sharply. âYou never tried to actually talk to Azriel about it. You just expected him to be alright with it. Alright with us,â she continued. âHe has never once been anything but polite to me, but quite frankly he would have had every right to be pissed off.â
Mor just so managed not to grimace.Â
Not a single word. Not a single gesture. Nothing but politeness and kindness had come from Azriel after her and Emerieâs mating bond had snapped. Nothing.Â
"You don't think I know that? You don't think I'm racked with guilt every damn day?" she asked her mate, turning away from from Emerie, running a hand through her hair in frustration. "I know that I hurt him, Em. I know that I used him. But what do you want me to do about it now? It's in the past, it's done. I can't change it."
Emerie was silent for a moment, her expression softening slightly. "You can apologize," she said softly. "You can try to mend what you broke. And maybe, just maybe, he'll forgive you."
Mor let out a bitter laugh, shaking her head. "Apologize? For what?" she asked, her voice dripping with self-mockery. "For using him? For making him think he had a chance with me when he never did? For breaking his heart when I knew damn well how he felt about me?"
Emerie's expression hardened again. "Yes," she said firmly. "For all of those things. Because at the end of the day, Mor, you used him. And he deserves better than that."
Mor's shoulders slumped, the fight leaving her all at once. She knew that Emerie was right. She knew that she had been selfish, that she had hurt Azriel in a way that could never be undone. But the thought of facing him, of admitting her mistakes and opening herself up to the pain and rejection that surely awaited herâŠit was terrifying.
âI imagine he had a few very good reasons to keep Irena a secret from all of us,â Emerie said softly. âRegardless of what feelings he once harboured for youâŠhe was always your friend, Mor. And he kept his mate a secret from you.â
Mor sighed, her shoulders slumped. "I know," she said softly. "I know. I thought it was jsut Az being Az but itâs not, is it?â
Emerie reached out, placing a gentle hand on Mor's arm. "No," she said softly. "It's not. It's him protecting something that he loves. And I don't blame him for that."
***
âAre you hungry?â Azriel asked his mate softly.
Madja had checked on her the evening beforeâŠhad told her to keep off her leg for a few days and plied her with more potions, bandages the bruises again⊠given her more sleeping draught. It hasnât stopped Irena from waking up twice with nightmares.
"No," Irena said softly, her voice barely above a whisper. "I don't have much of an appetite." She looked pale, her eyes dull and lacking their usual sparkle. It was clear that she hadn't slept well, and his heart ached at the sight of her discomfort.
Shock had dissipated and left his mateâŠgrieving and sad and Azriel curled himself tighter around her.
He could feel the weight of her sadness and grief, and it broke his heart to see her this way. He wrapped his arms tighter around her, holding her close and hoping to offer some comfort and support.
âYou need to eat something, love,â he insisted softly. âWhatever you want.âÂ
He really didnât care if all she had in her stomach were her favourite cookies, at least that would be something.Â
Irena shook her head, burying her face in his chest. "I don't want anything," she said, her voice muffled against his shirt. "Just...just stay here with me."
Azriel's heart tugged at her words, and he pulled her even closer, cradling her against him. "Of course," he whispered, his lips brushing the top of her head. "I'm not going anywhere, love,â he promised her fiercely. âBut you still need to eat something,â he whispered. âHow about the shadows get you one of those blueberry pastries you like?â
Irena sighed, snuggling deeper into his embrace. "Alright," she said softly. "I do love those pastries." She looked up at him, her eyes still dull but a small hint of a smile tugging at the corners of her mouth.
He didnât even need to order the shadows to do anything, they had one of her favourite blueberry pastries on a plate on the bed side table in a breath. *Please tell me you left the money,* he told them mentally.
The shadows seemed almost indignant. *Of course we left it. Do you think we're thieves?* Azriel smiled at their tone."
"Of course not," he said aloud, reaching for the pastry and offering it to Irena. "You're just very efficient." The shadows swirled around him almost smugly at the praise, and he shook his head with a chuckle.
âThank you,â Irena thanked them softly. The shadows preened.
Azriel chuckled again, watching as the shadows swirled around Irena, as if basking in her gratitude. It was cute how they seemed almost puppy-like in their desire for her attention.Â
He was amazed, as always, by how much the shadows adored her.
He had never expected them to warm up to anyone else, especially not as quickly as they had to his mate.Â
SuddenlyâŠas soon as he had properly introduced his shadows to herâŠas soon as it was clear that she wasnât going to start flinching away from them or from him if they showed up to badger herâŠas soon as that was clear, they had started to dote on her. Seemingly so pleased that there was another person that wasnât scared off them.Â
The shadows and Irena had formed a bond that defied explanation, and it made Azriel so happy to see the two things he cherished most in the world getting along so well.
(Even if he sometimes got jealous that the shadows never had doted on him like they did on Irena. He got porridge for breakfast but Irena got the ridiculous expensive pastries from the newest high end bakery. Irena got bubble bath, while he only got salt dumped into his bath water and got told that it was good for his muscles.)Â
He watched as the shadows swirled around Irena, nuzzling against her like cats seeking affection. Irena laughed softly as they tickled at her ears and played with her hair.
He knew that his shadows were often feared and misunderstood, but with Irena they were playful and affectionate. It was like she had unlocked a whole new side of them, and he couldn't help but smile at the sight of them interacting so sweetly with her.
He leaned in, pressing a soft kiss to her temple. "I never thought I'd see the day when my shadows would be so smitten," he teased, his lips curving into a small smile. "I should be jealous, but I can't help but find it adorable."
Irena laughed, her eyes sparkling for the first time that day. "They're so sweet," she said, reaching up to brush her fingers through the shadows that surrounded her. "It's like they're a different side of you."
Azriel chuckled, his gaze softening as he looked at her. "I guess they are a part of me, in a way," he said. "And they seem to have a mind of their own, especially when it comes to you." He watched as the shadows nuzzled against her cheek, almost vying for her attention.
"They're quite taken with you," he said with a grin. "I don't blame them. Still, it's strange to see them so affectionate towards someone else." He reached out, gently brushing a strand of hair away from her face.
"But it makes me happy to see them like this," he said softly, his fingers lingering against her cheek. "It's like you're bringing out a side of them that I never knew existed. And it's a beautiful thing to witness." He leaned in, pressing another soft kiss to her forehead. "Just like you."
There was a knock at the door.
*The High Lord and the Ancient One,* the shadows offered. *And the healer.*
*Iâll deal with them,* Azriel said with a snort.
âFinish your breakfast, alright?â he told Irena softly as he slid out of the bed. Irena nodded, a small smile on her face.Â
"Thank you," she said softly, watching as he got up to answer the door.
âMadja,â he greeted the healer drily. âIrena just had breakfast. The bruises are already lightening,â he reported.
Madja nodded, her expression softening slightly. "Good," she said. "Keep an eye on her for the next couple of days, make sure she takes it easy. The leg needs to heal properly." He opened the door further, letting Madja slip in, and could just hear, "How are you feeling, my dear?" From Madja and Irenaâs soft answer.
Which meant that Azriel turned towards his brother. âWhat do you want?â He demanded from Rhys, his voice sharp.Â
Rhys held his hands up in surrender. "Calm down, Az," he said, his voice low. "I just wanted to check on Irena. Amren looked at the spellbook that Merrill was using,â Rhys explained.
âAnd?â Azriel asked flatly.
Did it actually matter? Merrill had been stupid and arrogant and a thousand other things. The spell didnât seem to have done anything to IrenaâŠher injuries had been thanks to the debris that had resulted in the spell going absolutely haywire, killing Merrill and seemingly exploding her office.Â
âIt was written in a language I do not know, but the best match is ancient Illyrian,â Amren gave back drily.Â
Azriel's expression darkened at Amren's words. "Ancient Illyrian?" he repeated, his mind racing. "That can't be good."
Not at all. He didnât even want to think about what his ancestors had come up with.Â
"It seems to be a very old dialect," Rhys explained. "One that hasn't been spoken or written in centuries. It'll take some time to decipher it, but we're working onâŠâ
âIt seems to be a healing spell. Probably used in childbirth,â Amren cut him off. âWhen it didnât find a pregnant female to latch onto, it redoubled back onto Merrill.â
"So Merrill's own spell backfired on her," Azriel mused. "And Irena got caught in the crossfire." He rubbed a hand over his face. âHas the spell done anything to Irena?â He demanded.
âMadja didnât think so,â Rhys said carefully. âI wanted to check on Irena if thatâs alright with you.â
He crossed his arms, not willing to entertain that even for a moment.Â
âNo,â he said flatly.Â
âLet him in, Azriel,â his mate said softly, and he turned towards her, staring at Irena.Â
The shadows were already dragging a fur around her shoulders, fluffing the pillows behind her, as Madja bandaged her leg.
Irena met his gaze, raising an eyebrow at him.Â
He didnât want Rhys anywhere near her, Azriel was certain of that. And stillâŠan stillâŠ
âFine,â Azriel growled, stepping aside to let Rhys through. "Don't overstay your welcome," he warned Rhys.Â
Rhys nodded, a small smile tugging at the corner of his lips at Azriel's protectiveness. He clapped a hand on Azriel's shoulder reassuringly. "I won't stay long," he reassured his brother. "I just want to make sure she's alright."
Amren rolled her eyes, but for once didnât say another word as Azriel closed the door.Â
âHigh Lord,â Irena greeted Rhys, every inch the perfect lady even while she was laid up in her bed.
Rhys inclined his head, smiling gently at Irena, while Azriel already crossed the room to sit at her bedside, taking her hand in both of his. She reassuringly squeezed it.Â
"How are you feeling?" Rhys asked her.Â
Irena gave him a small smile, shrugging her shoulders a little. "I've been better," she admitted. "But I'm healing, I suppose." She gestured to the leg, Madja was bandaging once again. "Madja says I'll be good as new in a few days. And Iâve had worse,â she added flatly.
Rhys chuckled softly, his eyes softening with concern. "I don't doubt it," he said. "But still, it must have been quite a harrowing experience." He paused for a moment, looking at her intently. "I wanted to speak to you about what happened," he said gently. "If you feel up to it, of course."
Irena nodded, steeling herself for whatever questions Rhys might have. "Go ahead," she said quietly.
"I just wanted to ask you about what you saw when the spell hit you," Rhys said carefully. "Do you remember anything after the initial blast? Could you show me?â
âNo.â Azriel snapped. âYou are not going read her mind, Rhysand.â Not in a million years.Â
He nearly bared his teeth at his High Lord in annoyance, already regretting letting him into their room.Â
Irena was healing.
Rhys held up his hands in surrender, his eyes flickering to Azriel for a moment. "I wasn't going to do anything without her permission, brother," he assured him calmly.
âItâs alright,â Irena agreed with him. âItâs fine, Azriel,â she assured him softly. Azriel tensed for a moment, torn between wanting to protect her and respecting her wishes. "I want to do this." She turned her attention back to Rhys. "Go ahead."
Rhys nodded, his expression serious. "Are you sure?" he asked, his voice low. "It might be difficult to recall the memories, but I need you to try."
Irena just inclined her head. "I'm sure," she said firmly. "Just...just go ahead."
Azriel watched, holding her hand tightly. Rhys was well trained at using his daemati abilities, but that didnât mean thatâŠ
A moment later a soft shudder run through his mate, and Azriel growled.Â
âThank you, Irena,â Rhys said quickly, clearly already withdrawing from her mind.
âWhat kind of spell was it?â Itena asked her voice hoarse.Â
Rhys sighed, "The spellbook was written in some kin of ancient language, we think some dialect of Illyrian. The spell itself was healing spell, probably used for childbirth," he explained. "The magic was searching for a pregnant female to latch onto, but when it couldnât find one, it became more volatile," he said, his expression grave. "And that's when it found you, Irena. It was a complete accident, but the effects were still devastating."
âDid it doâŠanything to me?â Irena asked Madja quietly.
Madja looked up from the bandages she was applying to Irena's leg, her expression softening as she took in Irena's worried expression.
Madja studied her for a moment, her eyes flickering over the various scrapes and bruises on Irena's body. "Not as far as I can tell,â Madja said finally. "You're healing nicely, and there are no lasting effects to your body that I can see.â
It was something. It was reassuring to know that her physical injuries were being healed, and that there were no lasting effects.
Azriel squeezed Irena's hand, relief flooding through him at Madja's words.Â
It was good. Some form of healing being foundâŠ
And the last thing Azriel had expected, where Irenaâs next words, as she addressed Rhysand.Â
âIâll hand over my duties to Madja, as soon as I can,â Irena said softly. âI am aware that after what happened I am no longer suitable to make any more research involved decisions. I take full responsibility for what happened.â
Her voice was even, measured. Calm.Â
Even when he could see the storm in her eyesâŠeven when he could seeâŠ
She loved her job. He knew that she loved her job. She adored it in fact. And she excelled in it too. Irena seeme to be made for her job in the House of Wind. And to hear her contemplating giving it all up, just because of an accident that hadnât been her fault at allâŠ
Azriel opened his mouth to protest but Rhys spoke before he could say anything. "That won't be necessary," Rhys said firmly. "Irena, what happened was a complete accident. You had no control over what happened, and we all know that." He shook his head, his expression serious. "You can't blame yourself for what happened."
Rhys leaned forward slightly, his gaze intent on Irena. "If anyone is to blame, it's Merrill," he said softly. "She was the one who was messing with magic beyond her understanding, she didnât follow your orders and she was the one who unleashed that spell. You were just an innocent bystander in all of this."
He paused, looking between Azriel and Irena, his expression softening. "We will need to take precautions going forward, so nothing like that can ever happen again." he said carefully. "But we can figure that out together. And you do not need to give up your duties, Irena. We need you."
Irena looked down at the blankets in her lap, her fingers fiddling with a loose thread. "But what if something like this does happen again?" she asked softly.
Rhys shook his head, his expression firm. "It won't," he said, his voice filled with conviction. âNone of what happened was your fault,â Rhys repeated firmly.
Azriel nodded in agreement, his grip on Irena's hand tightening. "He's right," he said gruffly. "You didn't do anything wrong. You were just in the wrong place at the wrong time, love. This is on Merrill, not on you. "
âAnd you canât quit because otherwise weâll all drown under paperwork. Well, more than we already do,â Rhys said with a sigh.
Irena chuckled softly, a small smile pulling at the corners of her lips. "Well, I suppose I can't let that happen," she said wryly. "I canât let the high Lord deal with even more paperwork, can I?â she said drily.
Rhys moved to stand but then he suddenly froze. âYou have been doing this on purpose,â he suddenly said, staring at her.
âDoing what?â Irena asked, cocking the head to the side. âMake sure that the library generates plenty of paperwork that needs the High Lordâs personal attention?âRhys stared at her for a moment, his expression a mixture of surprise and awe.Â
"You really are quite devious, arenât you?" he said with a small laugh. "I never would have thought youâd be using your job specifically to ensure that I spend even more time doing paperwork."
âI donât.â Irena said flatly. âIt was petty revenge.â
Rhys chuckled, shaking his head. "Petty revenge?" he repeated, raising an eyebrow. "What on earth did I do to deserve such punishment?"
Irena just stared at him for a moment. âMaybe you should think a bout how you have been treating my mate.â
What?Â
Azriel had had no clue thatâŠ
Azriel hadnât known about that. Hadnât had the faintest inkling.Â
Irena had been making sure that Rhys had more paperwork to go through?!
Rhys looked at him for a moment before sighing, rubbing a hand over his face. "I suppose I deserved that one," he admitted.Â
Azriel just grunted, his expression flat. "You deserved a lot more than that," he muttered. But there was no real anger in his voice. He was too tired for anger at Rhys. All he cared about right now was Irena.Â
âYou really are a perfect match,â Rhys said with some amusement. âAnd I do owe Azriel an apology,â he said simply. "Iâve been harsh on you, Azriel. And I havenât been fair. Iâve been treating you like a tool, instead of like a brother, and I owe you an apology for that.â
Azriel was taken aback by Rhys's words. He had grown used to the way Rhys treated him - as a weapon first, and a brother second. Hearing Rhys acknowledge his mistakes wasâŠcertainly unexpected, and it left him feeling a little off-balance.
He paused for a moment, his mind racing as he tried to figure out how to respond. Finally he looked up at Rhys, his expression serious. "Thank you," he said quietly. "I appreciate the apology."
Rhys nodded, his expression sincere. "I mean it," he said quietly. "I'll do better moving forward."

touchy subject III pairing: reader x exfiancé!rafe synopsis: seeing your ex-fiancé after four years. warnings: angst and comfort. fluff. mentions of miscarriage/stillbirth and DUI. wc: 2.7k part 3 and the last part of touchy subject! click here for part 1, click here for part 2 i really liked writing for them and honestly i'm considering occasionally writing blurbs for them and what their relationship would shape into, lmk if you'd be interested!!
seeing you in front of that store felt like it might've killed rafe. the first face he fell in love with, the woman who'd left him with nothing but scars and an engagement ring. somehow, he still managed to stay alive.
but hearing you say his name in the soft voice he hadn't heard in over four years, the same one that you used to tell him you loved him every single night before your body went slack in his arms, that might have been the final blow.
"what are you doing here?" you managed to mutter, your hand instinctively going to your locket, squeezing it in your hand, and the gesture didn't go unnoticed by rafe.
"what's this?" rafe asked as the two of you laid in bed, his finger tracing the patterns on the heart-shaped locket resting on your chest, the one you'd worn around your neck for as long as he'd known you.
"this?" you asked, opening the locket, displaying two pictures; one of them was of you when you were a little girl, standing between your parents with a wide, toothy grin on your face, and the other was a picture of you and rafe, taken at midsummers. "i got this from my mom. it's a family heirloom of sorts. when she's born," you looked down at your stomach, "we've gotta get a picture taken of us three so i can put it here."
he let out a small chuckle, "i'm honored that you want me in your heart."
"i think you're always going to be in my heart," you rolled your eyes, "whether i want it or not."
"i'm here to see you. i thought that'd be obvious." rafe said without an ounce of emotion in his voice, the sound causing a shiver to run down your spine. grieving your daughter on what would've been her fifth birthday wasn't a moment you exactly wanted your ex to witness, but this was still rafe. the man you loved for so long, the only man you ever loved, the one you were going to marry, and this was still the house that was supposed to be your home.
so you stepped aside, pulling your cardigan closed as a way to close yourself off from the man as you walked further into the house, not daring yourself to look back at him, fearing the urge that still remained in your chest to just pull him close to you and be in his arms.
you heard the door close, pressing your eyes shut as you stood in front of the fireplace, your arms crossed in front of your chest as if defending yourself, the man's footsteps echoing in the room, "it's cold in here."
"the radiator's broken."
"can you just, at least look at me, or something?"
"do i have to?" you chuckled humorlessly, and when you felt his hand on your shoulder, it felt like the room got ten degrees colder, the man slowly turning you around to face him, and when you refused to look up at him, focusing on the baby blue sweater he was wearing, he brought his hand to your chin, gently lifting it up, just like he did every time he was about to kiss you.
"we need to talk."
if someone was to ask you what would be the most uncomfortable situation you had ever been in, this would be among the top 3, right after you got the 'birds and the bees' talk and the time you said your goodbyes to the same man now sitting beside you, the space between you two big enough to fit another person.
"why did you come back?" rafe asks, without even sparing you a glance. you decide to do the same, your gaze staying on the fire crackling in front of you.
"i don't know. a part of me thinks it's because i missed home."
"and the other part?"
missed us. missed her. "missed my mom, i guess."
your mother had driven you home from the hospital, insisting that she'd stay with you for the next few days; you still hadn't seen rafe. you couldn't face him, couldn't face the guilt you carried around for being the reason your daughter would be coming home in an urn.
she'd gone to the store for groceries, leaving you to sit on the couch you and rafe had picked out, staring at the engagement picture that hung above the fireplace.
you didn't know how it started, how every single vase ended up as nothing but shards of glass on the floor, how the coffee table had ended up as planks of wood, how your fists were bruised from beating them against the walls, your knees bloody from when you'd collapsed on the ground amongst all the glass.
"do you know what day it is?" rafe asked with a weak voice, and you could hear him try to swallow down the emotion crawling up his throat.
his question made you want to let out a small, humorless laugh. you don't know how you could ever forget. "of course." the day i killed her.
rafe stood up, running his hand over his chin before trailing over the short strands of hair on his head, "why did you do it?" he looked to you. "why did you leave?"
"i had no reason to stay." you say emotionlessly, your fingers intertwined as you kept your eyes on them as if you were praying.
"you had me. you would've had me if you just let me be there."
"rafe, i killed our daughter."
"what-"
"i'm the reason our daughter isn't here. i'm the reason she doesn't exist. i'm the reason that today isn't only her fifth birthday, but also the fifth anniversary of her death."
rafe kneeled down in front of you, his hands cupping your cheeks, not caring if it made you uncomfortable, or that this was the first time he'd properly touched you in over four years, the only thing that mattered to him was that you listened.
"you did not kill our daughter."
"i did."
"no." he scoffed, "you aren't the reason she's dead. the reason is the drunken asshole who drove at you. you loved her with your entire being, with everything you had, even before she was born. you would've been the most amazing mother in the world. don't you dare blame yourself for something you had zero control over."
"i shouldn't have driven in that weather. i knew it was gonna be raining, that the roads would be slippery-"
"no." rafe said sternly, "look at me."
your eyes moved to look into rafe's steel-blue ones, shimmering with unshed tears, his jaw clenched, and only then did you realize that he was cupping your face in his hands, his touch somehow managing to make you feel warm even in the cold apartment.
"i won't have you blame yourself for something you had no fuckin' control over. evelyn was so wanted, by both of us. she would've been so loved. we would've done anything to protect her, and to keep her safe. if any fucker even thought about hurting her, i would've made sure they'd regret ever being born. but you are not to blame for her not being here."
rafe's hands moved from your cheeks to your hands, the man instead taking your clenched fists into his, letting out a small sniffle, and when he pressed his eyes closed and let out a sigh, a tear rolled down his cheek.
"yeah, you could've not driven in the rain. but i should've been the one to drive you to your mom's, you were eight months along, an insane man would make you drive yourself, or i should've made sure you got home before it was dark, or i should've picked you up myself. there are so many things we could've done differently, but that doesn't mean that either of us is to blame for it."
"i spent so long blaming myself for what happened, but not even for a moment did i blame you. you did everything to keep her safe, and i know it, and i'm sure that she knows it too. you loved her more than anything, and i won't let some drunk driving idiot make you feel like you did anything wrong."
slowly, you opened your fists, half-moon prints on the palms on your hands caused by your nails, and without even realizing, tears had been rolling down your eyes the entire time that rafe had been speaking, the man standing up and pressing a kiss on your forehead that felt like it burnt and would leave a mark that'd be there forever, before he settled down next to you.
a strand of hair was stuck on your cheek, almost glued on there by the tears you shed, the blonde man tugging it behind your ear, his eyes still on you, his hands still cupping yours.
"i don't blame you for what happened, nor do i blame you for pushing me away. but i wish you would've let me in, to be there for you, instead of leaving. so we could've grieved her together."
"i think we should break up, rafe."
"what?" rafe turned to look at you; this wasn't what he had been expecting to hear after two months of silence, "if this is about the baby-"
"i can't do it anymore." you closed your eyes, letting a tear run down your cheek, "i need to leave. start over."
you turned your head to look at him, his words feeling like a weight had been lifted off your shoulders, and even though you tried to find it, there was nothing in his eyes that said that he was lying.
"you don't blame me for any of it?"
your voice was weak and feeble, as if a part of you was expecting him to tell you that he did, but when he pulled you into his embrace, he told you the truth in the best way he knew how to: without saying a single word.
you didn't know how long you had been in rafe's arms; it felt like hours, while also feeling like the moment had lasted mere seconds, like you two lived in your own bubble. it felt like the last four years hadn't happened, like you had never left.
but when he pulled away from the embrace and looked down at his watch, letting out a sigh, you knew what was coming. the bubble burst.
"i should probably get going." rafe let out an exasperated sigh and rubbed the bridge of his nose before starting to get up off the couch, stretching his long limbs.
"yeah, yeah." you said softly, clearing your throat, trying to act like nothing had happened, like you hadn't gone through every memory you shared while he was just holding you to comfort you, "your girlfriend's probably waiting for you."
rafe stopped in his tracks, turning to look down at you, "girlfriend?"
"shit," you chuckle softly, fidgeting with your hands and chewing on your lower lip, "i guess she's your fiancée, now."
he sat down on the couch next to you while you simply avoided his gaze, not wanting him to read everything you were feeling like he so often seemed to do, but your attempt was unsuccessful, the man bringing his hand to your chin and gently turning your head so you were forced to look at him, his brows slightly furrowed while he looked at you pointedly.
"what girlfriend, or fiancée?"
you didn't know if rafe was acting stupid, or if he was genuinely confused, but you could still remember the woman with him at the jewelry store, the woman who had managed to make him smile, whose back rafe placed his hand on.
"you know," you clear your throat, taking his hand off your chin and turning your head away from him, not wanting him to see the tears brimming in your eyes as you thought about him waiting at the aisle for another woman, "the woman at the jewelry store."
rafe let out a soft laugh, and when you turned your head, facing him, he was nearly keeling over in laughter, his head in his hands.
"what?"
"that-" rafe said inbetween laughs, "that wasn't my girlfriend."
"what?" you mumbled softly, your brows furrowing, "what do you mean, rafe?"
"sorry-" he continued laughing for a while only to be stopped by a soft smack you delivered to his shoulder, before the man took a deep breath, looking at you with a small smile gracing his lips, a sight that still got your heart to flutter, "that wasn't my girlfriend, or my fiancée."
"then... who was she?"
"that was," rafe let out another chuckle as if you had said something foolish, taking one of your hands in his and intertwining your fingers, "wheezie's girlfriend."
you tried processing the words that had left his lips, but no matter what, they didn't seem to make since. "why were you in a jewelry store together? wheezie's only like-"
"wheezie's nineteen." rafe shook his head, "her girlfriend, lucy, asked me to help her pick out a ring. sarah was supposed to go with her, but she had some preschool stuff to deal with relating to jack, so i got stuck with that dutyâŠ"
"isn't nineteen a bit... young?"
"it is. but you remember how young we were when we got engaged? or sarah?" a fond smile took over rafe's lips as he turned to look at the fire that was slowly burning out, letting the next words out in a hushed tone. "guess it runs in the family."
"guess so." you say, biting down on your lip, turning to look at the fire with him, your cheeks warm as you felt like an idiot for your assumption.
"i still haven't moved on." rafe said, letting out a breath, "i don't know if i can. i don't think i even want to." you turned to look back at one another at the same time, both of you seeing the same melancholy in the other one's eyes, "there's no one i would ever want to be with other than you."
you took a deep breath, his words ringing through your head as you looked at him, a damp trail running down his cheek was still visible from the tears he had shed, and you took a deep breath, making a decision that you knew would impact the rest of your life.
"me neither, rafe."
you brought your hand to his cheek and felt the tear he had shed under your touch, pulling his face to meet yours until your lips clashed, feeling the exact same that it did four years ago, making you wonder how you ever let it go.
SIX MONTHS LATER...
you laid on a blanket in the middle of a field of sunflowers, your arms crossed behind your head and your eyes pressed closed, letting the sun beam down your face, warming you up as your bare feet were being tickled by blades of grass.
your daydreaming was interrupted by the sound of footsteps, and you opened one of your eyes to see rafe stumble through the long flowers into the small clearing you'd found, a small chuckle leaving your lips.
"don't laugh at me." he scolded, shaking his head as he landed on the blanket next to you, letting out a soft grunt.
"why not?" you asked, sticking your tongue out at him, your boyfriend gasping in feigned offence, about to quip back at you, only to be stopped by the small, chaste peck you pressed on his lips, even the small display of affection managing to leave him speechless.
as he settled down next to you, you smiled while looking up at the sky, white clouds covering a part of the beautiful icy blue nothingness that was so much like rafe's eyes, your thoughts on her. you took rafe's hand in yours, keeping your eyes trained up while you let yourselves just exist together.
"you're always going to be in my heart, evelyn louise cameron." you said softly as you traced the patterns on your locket, rafe turning his head to look at you, a somber expression on his face as he pressed a gentle kiss on your forehead.
"yeah, she will. and neither of us will ever forget her."

Imagine yâall just had the fight of your lives (maybe over his dumb gun or something equally Rafe), but later when youâre lying on opposite sides of the bed, he reaches out and pulls you close and says somthing cute or annoying idk And then, oh my GODâitâs slow, emotional, and HOT because making up with Rafe would be next-level intense. please i NEEEDđ«đ©
OH MY GOD YES. SOME SWEET RAFE AND EVEN SWEETER MAKE UP SEX AFTER A HUGE FIGHT. NEED IT.
#2 from my drabble game
smut: penetrative sex, some praise, I love you's, unprotected sex
Rafe is in deep shit.
You know that, he knows that-- hell, even your pet beagle, Poppy knew it. For once, she bolted away the moment the front door opened, and your oh-so-handsome, conniving and deceitful boyfriend walked in instead of running towards him.
Rafe is a dead man walking. How ironic would it be if he were to die at your hands with the very same gun he'd promised you he'd gotten rid of.
His body goes rigid when he sees the weapon in your palm. A nervous gulp falls down his throat as he does his best to stand tall. "Where did you get that?" That's what he asks you, he should've never opened his mouth.
You scoff immediately, carelessly angling it around as your upset mannerisms control your arms. "Get it? You mean where did I find it." He doesn't respond which is a wise choice.
"Mr. Montogommery called me earlier, he was looking for you--said you weren't answering your phone. He asked me to leave you a message," You're pacing now, and it made Rafe nervous. You're a little crazy, but so was he. It's why you went so well together.
"Like the good girlfriend I am, I opened your office drawer for a sticky note to leave on your desk, but what did I find? The same gun you told me would never be back in the house, Rafe are you serious?!" Your arms are flailing and he's half-certain he'll catch a stray by the end of the conversation.
He steps towards you with his hands up cautiously, "Baby, give me the gun, and we can talk about this." You snap, "No! Why should I? You don't trust me with it? Why because it's dangerous? Because it could kill you! You're right, Rafe. Why didn't I think of that sooner--oh wait, I did! And you fucking lied to me, Rafe."
Your voice is enraged and bouncing off the ivory-panelled walls of the house but it dies down to a shaky one as tears threaten to spill over the brims of your eyes. "Y/n-" He holds his hand out for you, but you give him the gun instead.
You execute a sharp pivot on the tips of your toes, ready to walk away from him but he finally speaks up and you stop--not turning around, standing still, anticipating. "I'm not getting rid of the gun." It's all he says.
Had you been in the mood, you would've turned around, lounged at him and strangled him, but no, you just kept walking.
Your bedroom is freezing that night, despite it being the middle of summer, and it only gets colder everytime you glance towards Rafe as he gets ready for the bed you begrudgingly shared.
Your expression remains sour, even in your sleep, no matter how far away from your boyfriend you are. There's enough room to fit a full-grown adult between you. The isolation was holding the production of your melatonin hostage, forcing you both to lay awake, backs facing each other but hearts reaching out.
Rafe flips onto his side, staring longingly at the back of your frame. He missed you and you were right in front of him. "Baby," His voice is soft, and the pet name lands on you gently, a testament that your anger has subsided a bit.
You turn over, choosing to lie on your back and face the ceiling. You deem that he's undeserving to see your face at the moment. "I've got another gun in my nightstand." You blamed your miscomprehension on the late hours of the night because surely he did not just say what you think he said.
Rafe can see the way your chest began to rise and fall at a much more shallow pace, he had about five seconds to start explaining before you turned on him. "I told you about my past. I've done some bad things. 'Burying the hatchet' doesn't exist for everyone, and I want to be prepared for anything. When I look at a gun now, it's not a weapon anymore, it's a tool. It's protection."
Your breathing slowed, a little. He takes it as a good sign. "I can't lose you. If something happened to you when I could've prevented it, I'd never forgive myself, and I know you know that." He's right. You did know that. He dedicated his life to you, making sure that you knew that. "I shouldn't have lied about getting rid of it, and I'm sorry."
Your breathing returns to its normal pace. You lay on your side, now facing him. "Fine." Rafe scoots closer to you, a small grin working its way on his lips. "Fine?" You nod, "Yeah, fine. I forgive you, this time, but don't you ever pull some shit like this again or so help me god I will-" He quiets you with a sweet kiss.
Well, it started sweet at least.
Now you're both watching him slide in. Your warm cunt wrapped around his length delightfully. "You're fuckin' perfect, too good f'me." He groans into your ear. His muscular arms cage you in, and you've decided you'd be more than happy to die between them.
Your soft moans bounced off his brawny chest and right back in your face, "Feels so good, Rafe-" Yougaspedp as he picked up the pace, hips rolling into yours for a much deeper angle. Your back arches off the bed slightly as sweat rolls down your back and sticks to the sheets.
It wasn't long before you were both chasing your highs. Rafe always sounded so fucking hot when he was close, his deep groans pitching up to breathless whines when you purposefully clenched around him, threatening him to fill you up unrestrained. Once you came, he pulled out and finished on your heaving stomach, catching your breath.
He doesn't get off of you just yet. He balances himself on one forearm as the other hand comes up to gently move the strands of hair from your face, "I love you," he means it, his eyes say it when his mouth does. "I love you".

Confession
Pairing: Azriel x Reader
Warning: nothing much just kissing
A/N: I'm going to start writing and post regularly again.
Masterlist
âââââââ
"I love you."
The words leave my mouth before I realise it. I can see him get tense, pausing his writing. Tears well up in my eye as the realisation slowly sinks in of what I've done. I've let out my deepest secret, the one I've kept for so long, not telling anyone else, knowing that nothing good can come out of it. I focus on the wall behind him, trying not to break down right here.
Come on, telling him I love him and then crying to him bout how he doesn't feel the same. That's just embarrassing.
I feel him stare at me as Azriel slowing gets up from his chair and walks up to me. Still not ready to face him, my eyes fall shut as he stands in front of me.
I want to say something! Say sorry or that it was just a prank but my mouth doesn't open and my fingers curl not a fist in anger at myself. He let's out a sigh and I brace myself for the rejection that's surely to come. The sofa dips a little as he sits in front of me.
Gentle finger tips graze my cheek and I gasp in surprise. "Open your eyes." The request clear in his deep voice. I carefully do, and then my eyes widen in surprise.
His face is so close to me.
Our noses almost touching. Our lips mere inches apart. The color of his irises is so radiant, with the sunlight hitting the waves in them so perfectly. A deep blush spreads across my face as my skin heats up. He too can surely feel it with his hand cupping cheek like so.
"Say it again."
"What?" I say, baffled.
"Say that you love me, again." There a flash of desperation in his eyes and it leaves my mind in a scramble. His eyes look at me, silently begging, and there nothing I wouldn't do in this world for him. No matter how much it hurts me, I would do whatever he told me to in a heart beat.
"I love you."
And his lips are on mine.
Softly at first and I gasp at the seer need I feel from him. He moves his mouth to mine with pure wildness, as if he's been wanting this for a long time. Our noses touch and he angles my head to kiss me deeper. My eyes fall shut and a tear runs down my cheek. I'm not sad, I'm surprised and happy and scared and god knows what else.
His tongue moves in my mouth and a low moan escapes my throat. I feel his lips curl up into a smirk and he pulls back a little. I whimper at the loss of him and chase after his lips to pull him into another, wilder kiss.
Our lips move in a rhythm, both of us desperately feel every part of each other's mouth. We kiss as if we were lost in a desert without any means of survival, and have finally found water. We kiss as if the world is going to end and there will be no tomorrow. We kiss as if this will be the last time we do so.
I don't know how long it has been when we finally pull back. Bruised lips and desire clear as a day in our eyes. We are still so close, I could easily kiss him again if I wasn't breathing so hard.
His kiss emptied me of my thoughts and air.
His eyes scan my face once more, red lips streching into a grin. He watches me for a second longer and then leans forward to gently kiss my cheek and pulls back.
"If it wasn't obvious, I love you too."
And I smile too, genuinely feeling the happiest I've ever felt.

Okay, a friend of mine said "obi-wan about Anakin" and it gave me several silly ideas so i'm gonna share them. Insert random headcanons about Anakin and his catch-it-eat-it diet below the line.
I'm just imagining Anakin opening cabinets, getting down on the floor and searching. Army crawling to look under tables and cabinets, pausing to sniff once in a while.
"Its around here somewhere... i just know it"
"Did you lose something?"
"No. There's an ant in here"
"Oh?... did you see it?"
"No. I can smell it. Its taunting me"
"You can.... smell the ant?" -there is a moment of silence "AHA!" "Oh. oh no. Anakin please don-- oh stars"
It's too late. Anakin has already put it in his mouth. This ties into coming from a planet where food is a little more scarce. He was raised where if you can catch it, you eat it. and obi-wan's reaction implies that he knew it was coming. which led me to headcanon number 2. This is not a new occurrence. You ever imagine the other jedi masters watching this mid-twenties fresh baby faced knight trying to wrestle a small reptile from the grubby hands of feral desert child? Because i have.
Anakin is upset because he caught it to eat it and obi is trying to convince him that there is plenty of food in the cafeteria, please do not eat that.
Perhaps, an 11 year Anakin running by with pudgy stuffed cheeks, obi-wan hot on his heels, shouting frantically "WHAT IS IN YOUR MOUTH?!"
Hearing from another room "SPIT THAT OUT THIS INSTANT! YOU DON'T KNOW WHERE THAT'S BEEN!" Followed by the sounds of a scuffle, which is certainly Knight Kenobi trying to wrestle Anakin's mouth open like an unruly dog with a wrapper, attempting to get it out of him mouth. then a sharp yelp "you BIT me?!" if it's small enough to fit in his mouth, it's going in. Bugs. Lizards. if he catches a small rodent he'll cook it first. but he'll eat it.
Headcanon number 3. Obi-wan is utterly devestated when he discovers that Ahsoka will also eat small critters.
Anakin spots a bug and stares at it, moving to stalk and it sets Ahsoka off. Next thing you know, her pupils have turned to slits and she's fallen into step, stalking alongside him. It doesn't matter who catches it first, Anakin gives it to Ahsoka because he's a good Master.
"here. i had one earlier. you can have this one"
"thanks master!"
Obi-wan is making an utterly despaired sound in the background.
"oh. i'm sorry master obi-wan. did you want that?"
"oh no, snips. obi-wan's a picky eater. he doesn't eat bugs"
"force have mercy. there's two of them"
Next headcanon. fuck naming them. there's too much going on here.
Obi-wan has no spice tolerance, which is a huge issue considering that he spent years hiding out on Tattooine where EVERYTHING is spicy, including the meats. This means that he has to find alternative means of getting his nutrients.
This ends up being a diet comprised of desert grasses, roots, mushrooms, legumes, and insects.
he's scooping out the insides of a giant millipede while staring into the distance, disassociating through dinner. He spends so many meals half to tears because "Anakin would've loved this" -- both the mean and watching Obi-wan suffer through eating bugs.
Next headconnon.
Anakin is a little shit.
that's not a new idea, you say. i know. that part is canon. hear me out though.
Freshly Knighted Anakin taunting Obi-wan with his own nuggets of wisdom
"a varied diet is paramount for a healthy body, master. it's important~" and he's holding up a grasshopper.
"no, thank you, anakin. there is plenty of nutritional value to the temple made meals. i'm quite alright."
"but master. i caught this just for you."
"that's very kind but i simply couldn't" Obi-wan is not very fond of bugs to begin with but he's less fond of them when Anakin decides he wants to chase him with them. "no! stop that!"
"c'mon master, eat it!"
"stop that, you menace!!! anakin no!"
obi-wan afterwards is bent over, hands on his knees after force running around the temple with Anakin chasing him. He's gasping for breath.
And then Anakin just approaches, still holding the bug and Obi-wan has clearly hit his limit of what he's willing to put up with and Anakin grins before popping it in his mouth.
"look at that, master. my force running has gotten better. i can keep up with you now~" đ
"we-- *gasp* should've left you on Tattooine-- *wheeze* where we found you, you brat" *various dying sounds*
"but ya didn't~â€ïž"
Obi-wan is ready to kick his ass.
I doubt that it's the only time this has happened. Which brings me to my final points. The addition of Yoda to this horrible shit show.
Anakin's bug buddies, Ahsoka, and Yoda.
We have Anakin chasing Obi-wan once more with a different insect. This happens to be a bad time to be wandering the halls. Obi-wan head to do a, rather graceful, flip to avoid taking out Masters Yoda and Plo Koon while on the run. Anakin is close behind and he barely has time for more than a shouted apology.
Anakin has his bug held high and is excitedly telling his master that "this one is crunchy. you'll like it!" with a little too much glee.
Yoda watches Anakin pass by. takes a deep breath and uses a long frog-like tongue to snatch the bug right out of anakin's hands.
"running in the hallways, against the rules, it is." âșïž
anakin, who knew his master wouldn't eat it and had planned to have it himself when he was done tormenting obi. -- "đ my bug"
Yoda is, fondly, referred to as "Master Steal your lunch" by Anakin the next time he sees him. Yoda, seeming to sense his error, and enjoying being a menace as much as Anakin, even if it's kept under wraps for the most part, sees an opportunity to ruin someone's day.
He snatches a fly from midair with his tongue and then wipes it off on his robes before offering it to Anakin, well aware it had his saliva on it, as a replacement for his pilfered snack.
There room is draped in horrified silence.
obi-wan is nearly in tears
"oh, merciful force. Anakin, i beg you... don't... "
Anakin seems to have a silent conversation via eyes before he smiles pleasantly, takes the fly, thanks the master so very pleasantly, and just pops it in his mouth, to the unending despair of his master.
Obi-wan has his head in his hands, mortified by this nonsense.
"please, Master Yoda, i beg you, don't encourage him"
imagine if your boyfriend was like I can smell an ant. and started tracking

hi <3! was wondering if i can get svt reaction to yn being completely oblivious to them flirting with her? subtle things like while sheâs just ranting about her day theyâd move closer to her and sheâd absentmindedly put her hand on their chest to push them away still running her mouth, just completely unaware of whatâs happening. and even the most obvious things like compliments or physical touch, yn is blind to it and itâs so frustrating to them
so yeah, hope you see this! â€ïž
Hi! I'm sorry for being so late đ i've been very busy with job and housework, but it's finally here.
Svt reacts: Flirting vs clueless s/o. Who will win?
Yuin's note: barely proofread. I'ts 1 am and I'm tired.
Seungcheol. Staring at your face.
I mean, he likes to just stare at you as if he's watching the prettiest person in the world, but when Seungcheol wants to be especially flirty, he stares at you fondly and smiling with the whole intention to make your heart skip a beat, he even glances at your lips, as if he were trying to say something. Most of the time that's enough to make you really, really shy but when is not... Geez, he has to breathe in and ends up pouting a little (Probably one or two pecks will make him feel better).
Jeonghan. Teasing.
Is like his default love language, making harmless jokes to see you flustered all over him is just so fun to watch. But, is he really just trying to be a teaser, or is there something else behind? "I took the chair, but you can sit on my lap" he said one day, sitting at your desktop, with the most mischievous smile possible. But you didn't fall for his charm and as you kept your annoyed face, he stood up and sighed "Okay, all yours". And you better be ready because he's not forgetting so easy, and will keep teasing you just a little (yeah, a little) more than usual.
Joshua. Back hugging.
When Joshua wants your attention only and only for him, he goes where you are to hug you from the back, resting his chin on your shoulders and crossing his arms around your waist. Oh, he loves it so much is so tender, but he gets lowkey hurt when you don't react in any way because, how come you don't realize his intentions? Is really doing the dishes way more important than his warm hugs? Now, this is personal and Joshua wonât let you go, take it as a punishment for being so clueless (reward or punishment?).
Jun. Tickles.
For him, tickles is the perfect excuse to be closer to you. It's so obvious that hurts lol. Most of the time you melt in his touch, and you both end up laughing and sharing some kisses, but sometimes you're minding your business, too busy to realize that Jun wants to get your attention. Better get ready because you'll have a pouty little cat going around the apartment, and will NOT forget your offense unless you give him extra cuddles before bed.
Hoshi. Random "facts".
At the least appropriate time, he would come to find you. "Did you know that there is a minimum number of kisses that a person should receive per day to be healthy?" he says with a very serious expression on his face. And there you are, standing in the middle of the living room while you're brushing your teeth; your soulless expression says all. Hoshi turns around and pretends nothing happened, but in his mind, he's sitting in the corner staring at the walls.
Wonwoo. Making compliments out of nowhere.
He likes to pour you with sweet words, like how much he appreciates your homemade food, or that you did it great at work. From time to time, he thinks is fun to be a little sassy and his praises are very, very intentional. âNew gloss?â he says, grinning at you âIt looks goodâ and for some frigging reason you just start talking about how you got it? Babe, Wonu doesnât care that much that you bought it because your favorite gloss wasnât on stock, but now he feels a little shy to speak and just lets you tell the whole story.
Woozi. Playing with your hair.
When it comes to be openly flirty, Woozi tends to be a little coy. You rarely notice it since it's very common for him to be around you, caressing your hair and playing with the strands in complete silence. So when you get distracted he places a strand behind your ear, exposing your neck. But when he's so close to place a kiss, you jump like a scared kitten. "No! It tickles!" Woozi looks down, defeated, as you move away. "Sorry, be right back" and he locks himself in his room for the next hour.
Minghao. Holding your hand.
He thinks your hands are more than just pretty. Hao likes to take one of them when you're sitting by his side, scrolling on your phone or watching TV. He's so subtle that most of the times you don't feel how he traces your hand with his fingers and when you realize, itâs because your hands are intertwined and heâs holding his laughter. âHow low youâve been like this?â but Minghao just giggles. You end up doing the same and then resume your activity, letting him laughing low in embarrassment and biting his lips as a sign of frustration.
Mingyu. Resting on your lap.
He's very straightforward when it comes to flirting with you. Mingyu likes to wait patiently for you to sit on the couch or the bed and then he goes, at first making some (pretty obvious) questions "What are you doing?" "Is that a new book?" and as you're talking, his hands rest on your thigh, gently stroking your skin with his thumb, but you're so immerse in the topic and he goes completely unnoticed... And before you even notice, there's a flustered Mingyu resting his head on your lap, tracing small circles on your thigh as if he had been punished.
Dokyeom. Taking photos.
He already has a folder with your name and an unhealthy number of photos; Seokmin just never gets tired, you're so used to it that most of the time don't realize that he's actually trying to hit on you. "Just let me take a picture, you look so beautiful today!" And after giving him an awkward smile, you're getting back to your stuff. Seokmin is a bit disappointed but with a bunch of new photos of his precious person, so is not that bad (at least is what he says to himself trying to not lose his mind).
Seungkwan. Scolding.
I know, it may sound like a bit harsh but when he's scolding you, Seungkwan tries to make it as tender as possible, it doesn't feel like scolding and actually, he uses this as a cheap excuse to be extra lovely. "Don't sleep too late, you're getting dark circles" he says in a soft voice while caressing your checks "you're too pretty for that, don't you think?". He waits for you to take the bait and when you laugh on him, saying that he's being a little dramatic, Seungkwan doesn't hide his disappointment. "Okay, keep watching your series" he says getting up from the couch "but don't you dare to complain later!"
Vernon. Placing his arm on your shoulders.
A classic that never dies and his favorite, Vernon likes to do it all the time: when watching movies, chatting, watching videos together; is a like a very subtle invitation to get closer to him, and somehow, most of the time youâre just minding your business and leave him waiting for you to notice. And yeah, heâs very patient, but everything has a limit. "Come here, babe" then he places his hand on your shoulder and brings you closer to his chest. And don't you dare to move, because there's no way he let you go now.
Dino. Calling your name.
Usually, he calls you by pet names or your name in diminutive, reserving the use of your name for special occasions. However, it doesn't always end the way he expected. âDid I do something wrong?â you ask him just after he called you by your name, and when Chan sees your big doe eyes, his smile fades. âIs just that⊠I feel like youâre mad at meâ. At this point his intentions doesnât matter anymore, he just hugs you and tries not cry in his disappointment.

Zak had been worried about Oscar for a while. The far-off looks in meetings, the silence at dinners, the constant stares he was getting, all of it. Heâd even been so worried, that he came to you, and youâd told him that Oscar had been just fine at home, so it must be something to do with work.Â
It was a strange thing, to be dating your bossâs daughter. Oscar had in fact fallen for you within seconds of meeting you back in 2022, his first visit to MTC, before everything else happened. You, a legal trainee on the McLaren legal team, was the one running him through his contract, and he was very thankful that his lawyer was there to ask questions, because he was just focused on you. As he joined the team, you two got closer. About half way through his rookie season, he finally plucked up the courage to ask you out, and you had said yes. What ensued was a few months of sneaking around until you finally told your dad, who supported you two, but from afar. He liked Oscar, would he have preferred you pick someone that wasnât his driver, yes, very much so, but he didnât have a say in your life. You were an adult and if you wanted to go get your heart broken by an F1 driver, that was up to you. The one thing Zak hadnât accounted for was the fact that Oscar was a sweetheart who was genuinely head over heels for you. He saw it when you were in the paddock, how Oscar smiled a little brighter, how he made you a priority all weekend, how he performed better.Â
So what the fuck was going on with Oscar now?Â
Zak was worried that he was planning on breaking up with you, or maybe he was just going through some mental roadblocks at work, so he called him into his office.Â
Oscar awkwardly took a seat across from him, waiting to be addressed.Â
âAre you alright, Osc? You seem a bit⊠off lately,â Zak asked, nothing but concern in his voice.Â
Oscar shook his head. âIâm fine,â he said, but even he knew it sounded wrong. This is really not how he wanted this to go. He was insured of Zakâs worry by the way his brows furrowed. âYou can talk to me kid, you know that right? If itâs about Y/n or-â
âItâs not about Y/n,â Oscar assured him. âIâm alright, I promise.â
âOscar, talk to me, Iâm here for you. If youâre going through something-â
âIâve been trying to figure out how to ask for your blessing!â he admitted, speaking far too loud and far too fast. Oscar looked up to see Zakâs face blank, his jaw slightly dropped. âIâm so sorry-â
âYou have it,â he said. Now it was Oscarâs jaw that dropped. âOf course you have it,â Zakâs lips turned into a smile. âShe adores you. You clearly adore her. I love you, my wife loves you, my sons love you. Of course you have my blessing.â
He took a deep breath and smiled. âThank you,â he chuckled. âGod, I was terrified.â
âYou thought Iâd say no?â
Oscar shrugged. âMaybe?âÂ

Zak was very happy when he woke up to a call from the two of you, engaged, a few weeks later.

Some technical details under the cut if anyone is interested:
As someone who makes Stupid Keyboards (near to Stupid Mice, and don't think I don't have Stupid Mice ideas): I think this is fake, as in they didn't actually make a Toy Horse That Is A Mouse.
So, first of all, out of context reasons: It was made by Pablo Rochat for Yahoo. He's a director of a group of artists who do marketing stuff for companies. He doesn't have this one on his page yet but based on their other stuff, it seems to be mostly photoshop/video editing based.
And here's the thing: Faking a mouse is frighteningly easy.
Record your screen as you move a real mouse
Play back that video while you move something that's not a real mouse
Done. It looks like it works.
The final reason is that I don't think their lens would work. See, modern optical mice are based on a light + lens + tiny camera. The light shines on the surface so the camera can see the surface move.
The problem is that it's focused right at a set distance, which is supposed to be set to how far the sensor is from the mousepad. Try picking up your optical mouse now (assuming you're not on a phone or laptop): You'll find that it works while not touching the mousepad, but only for a couple millimeters. Once you get farther, it stops.
The reason is the lens: It's trying to get the most contrast possible at a very specific distance, and once you pick it up by more than a few millimeters, it gets too blurry to work.
So lets think about how you'd put a sensor in the horse toy.
The obvious place is in the horse's belly: but then your lens wouldn't work. You'd need a custom lens to make it work. That sounds like a lot of work, and it might not even work with the standard optical chip they use.
The second option would be the hooves. This would work! you're at the right distance, you just need to run the cable down the leg, and you're golden.
Except those hooves are too small. Optical mice are built on standard chips these days:
The chip is a specific size because it is floating over a hole in the PCB. The bottom of the chip is a camera. The lens is a piece of plastic that fits in there. It's hard to tell the scale from this picture I stole, but the problem is the chip is too big to fit down the hoof of that toy horse. Maybe you could do it if you had a horse with some Big Hooves? but there's no way to fit one of these in there. Sorry.
So yeah. They faked it.
Unless they got clever and faked it in another way: That "grass" mousepad could be a tablet. It could be multi-touching the hooves, and then transmitting their location to the PC.
You'd need to wire up the horse so the capacitive touch works, or use a resistive touch screen, but you're still cheating a little.
But all that is hard: faking it completely is easy. So I'm very sure that's what they did. I'd do the same if I was doing art as a client of a company and I had a deadline. It doesn't affect the video if this is "real" or "fake".
btw: I don't say this to lessen anyone's enjoyment of it or as a "callout", I'm just interested in "how real is this" as someone who makes Weird Tech Art too.

sfw; popstar!reader x vi in which u punch someone in face and vi finds that incredibly attractive
"who the hell--"
you pull the door open, rubbing the sleep from your eyes, the thin strap to your pink silk nightgown hanging off your shoulder.
"hey."
you frown, blinking at the skinny man standing across the doorframe, a fist held up as if to knock again.
"reese?"
the man smizes, leaning up against the doorframe, his eyes slicking down your exposed skin like an oil spill. you grimace, rolling your eyes. "you need to stop showing up like this. it's getting embarrassing."
"c'mon baby," he says, shrugging, trying to step into the door, "i know you've been missin' me --"
"uh. sorry. no --" you resist the urge to gag as he pouts at you, "we hooked up one time, and it was a mistake."
"it was the best night o'my life!" he crows, still trying to shove into the room but you narrow your eyes, blocking his path till he sighs, re-doubling his greasy smirk "and i'm pretty sure it was also the best night of --"
"princess?" vi's voice calls out from the bedroom. you sigh, glancing over your shoulder as her voice draws nearer, "what's goin' on?"
she rounds the corner to the hallway and pauses, her sleep-fogged eyes sharpening as she takes in the scene. a beat, and she's sauntering over, slipping an arm around your middle, pressing her chin to your shoulder, brushing a kiss to your cheek.
"everything alright? who's this, an old friend?" she looks reese over once, her expression the picture of a woman unimpressed.
you shake your head, leaning into her touch. "no, he's no one --"
"hey! pft, oh i see -- i leave you, and you decide to replace me with a beefed up enforcer whore -- oof --"
"ow."
vi lets out a sharp, startled laugh, her eyes widening as you pull your arm back, shaking out your stinging fist with a whine, cradling your hand.
"holy shit that really hurts," you say, pouting as vi takes your hand in hers, running a thumb along your reddening skin, her shoulders still shaking with laughter, even as she tries to sooth a thumb over your knuckles. she coos, kissing the back of your hand. you crinkle your nose, "you do that all the time?"
she grins, shrugging, "helps if you've had a lot of practice."
"-- y-you -- you broke my nose!" reese's voice is reedy as he holds his face, a thin line of blood trickling through his fingers, his eyes wide.
"oh shut up dude, you're fine. it'll set in a few days," vi snaps, rolling her eyes as she glances back towards the open door. you glare at reese, reaching for the small intercom on the wall.
"go away, reese. and find something better to do than stalk me, okay? ugh --" you huff, punching the call button for the security downstairs.
"h-hey! you can't just close the door on me --" reese tries to scramble for the doorknob but vi puts herself squarely between you and him, cocking an eyebrow. he falters, eyes flickering over vi's arms and shoulders, his lip curling with fear masked as distaste before he stumbles back, snarling at the pair of you, though the effect is largely dampened by the rapidly darkening bruise at the bridge of his nose and the blood smeared down his chin.
"w-whatever! i d-didn't actually wanna fuck you anyway --"
"oh do yourself a favor and get lost," vi says, slamming the door in his face just as the intercom beeps the life and you let the building security in on the situation.
"your hand okay?" vi asks, though her expression is a tug-o-war of concern and ill-concealed amusement.
you crinkle your nose, clenching and unclenching your fingers, wincing at the soft sting.
"yeah. that just hurt way more than i thought it would."
"aww, c'mere," vi tugs you into her chest, peppering your face in kisses before moves to your hand, laughing as you giggle. "my little warrior princess."
you whine, digging your nose into her neck, "don't make fun of me."
"i'm not!" though her voice is still clearly laced with laughter as the pair of you make your way back into the bedroom, "though, i gotta say -- that was kinda hot. like really hot."
you laugh, letting her scoop you up and press you down into the still-warm sheets. you bite your lips.
"yeah? maybe i should try punching my ex-hookups in the face more often."
vi's lips twitch. "yeah? you got alotta those?"
you frown, your pout returning in full swing, "no! ugh -- reese was -- reese was a very drunken mistake one night okay? we've all made choices we're not proud of --"
but vi is laughing, leaning down to catch your lips in a long, indulgent kiss. when she pulls away, your eyes are dark, your mouth sweet and soft around a half-caught breath.
"you know i don't care about your past, princess," she says, running a thumb along your cheeks, "all that matters --"
"is that you're the only one in my future?" you ask, smiling as you reach up to catch her hand, pressing a kiss to her palm. vi's lashes flutter at the certainty of your words, before she's sighing into your neck, her lips warm against your skin.
"yeah. something like that."
you giggle, head tilting back as she kisses a line down your shoulder. and then you're squealing as she flips the pair of you, settling you firmly over her hips, a smirk twisting her lips.
"though, reese --" she makes a show of whistling beneath her breath, "you were really goin' through some shit, huh?"
you groan, burying your face in her chest. "you're never gonna let me live this down, are you?"
vi laughs, carding her fingers gently through your hair before dropping a kiss to your temple.
"nope. never."

I miss you, I'm sorry
Bucky x Reader AU
Word Count: 10k+
Warnings: Toxic, angst, smut
A/N: I love Gracie, and was like fuck it gonna toss something together based off my fav songs by her
The air feels heavy, even though the room is quiet. You sit cross-legged on your bed, your phone resting beside you, the screen dim and blank. The minutes bleed into each other, but you canât stop glancing at the clock, as if willing it to rewind to before it all.
Itâs been three days. Three days of no texts, no calls, no nothing. Thatâs how it always goes with Bucky. Heâs there, and then heâs not. And every time, you tell yourself itâll be the last time you wait for him to come back.
It never is.
You hate him for how easy it is to disappear. You hate yourself more for letting him.
The phone rings.
The sharp sound cuts through the haze of your thoughts, and for a moment, your heart skips. You snatch the phone up, seeing his name flash across the screen. The sight of it sends a rush of relief, anger, and something softer, something stupidly hopeful, all at once.
You answer, but donât say anything.
âHey.â His voice is quiet, gravelly. Tired.
You swallow the lump in your throat. âHey.â
The silence stretches, brittle and uncomfortable. You can hear him breathing on the other end, steady and soft. It reminds you of the way his breath felt against your skin the last time he stayed over, the last time he let himself get too close before pulling away again.
âI shouldnât have called,â he mutters finally, his voice tight. âI just⊠couldnât sleep.â
You close your eyes. There it is again, the push and pull. The way he says he shouldnât but always does. The way he drags you back into his orbit every time, knowing youâll stay.
âWhat do you want, Bucky?â you ask, keeping your voice steady. Itâs a question youâve asked a hundred times, and you already know the answer.
He exhales sharply, like heâs frustratedâat you, at himself, youâre not sure. âI donât know.â Another pause. âYou were right, okay? About everything. I justâŠâ His voice trails off, and you can picture him sitting on the edge of his bed, rubbing the back of his neck the way he always does when heâs trying to find the words. âI hate this.â
âHate what?â you snap, the simmering frustration bubbling to the surface. âHate that you always come back? Or hate that you canât figure out what the hell you want?â
He doesnât answer. He never does when you call him out like this.
The silence makes your chest ache. You shake your head, even though he canât see you. âYou canât keep doing this, Bucky. You canât keep pulling me back just to push me away again. Itâs not fair.â
âI know,â he whispers. And he sounds so broken, so genuine, that it cracks something inside you. It always does.
You take a shaky breath. âThen why do you do it?â
âI donât know,â he says again. His voice is quieter now, softer, like heâs afraid of breaking you more than he already has. âBecause youâre the only thing that feels real. And I donât know how to hold onto it without screwing it up.â
Your throat tightens. You wish you didnât understand. But you do. Heâs always been good at giving you just enough to stay, but never enough to feel whole. âIts not enough Buckâ
âI know,â he says, his voice breaking slightly. âBut itâs all Iâve got, you're all i truly have."
You sighed running your head through your hair âDo you wanna come over?â
âIâm already on my wayâ
You don't have to wait long. The sound of his motorcycle pulling up to your place makes your stomach do a little flip, even though you're still mad at him. You hear his heavy boots on the stairs, and then a soft knock at your door.
You take a deep breath before opening it. He's standing there, his hair tousled from the ride, his face tight and tired. He looks at you, and for a moment, it's like all the walls come down. He reaches out, cupping your face with his hand, his thumb brushing over your cheekbone.
"I'm sorry," he says, his voice rough. "I'm so fucking sorry."
And just like that, you melt. You lean into his touch, your eyes fluttering closed. His other hand comes up to wrap around your waist, pulling you close. He smells like leather and cigarettes and something uniquely him.
"I missed you," he murmurs, pressing his forehead to yours. "I hate not seeing you."
"I hate it too," you whisper back. "But you can't keep doing this, Bucky. You can't keep hurting me."
He makes a soft, broken sound. "I know. I'm trying, okay? I'm really trying."
The door closes softly behind them, the click of the lock echoing in the charged silence. Bucky's hand is still cupping your face, his thumb tracing the curve of your cheekbone. You lean into his touch, your eyes fluttering closed as you breathe him in. He smells like leather and smoke, like home and danger all rolled into one.
You press yourself against him, feeling the hard planes of his body through his clothes. He's solid and warm and real, and it's been too long since you've felt him like this. His hands slide down to your waist, pulling you flush against him as he claims your mouth in a hungry kiss.
You moan into it, your fingers tangling in his hair. He kisses like your fights- fierce and intense, like he's trying to claim every inch of you. You kiss back just as fiercely, your tongue sliding against his as you lose yourself in the feel of him.
He walks you backwards towards the bed, his hands roaming your body as he goes. He breaks the kiss only to yank your shirt over your head, tossing it aside carelessly. His mouth is back on yours before you can even blink, his hands cupping your breasts through your bra.
You arch into his touch, your nipples hardening under his palms. He groans low in his throat, his hips pressing forward to grind against yours. You can feel his hardness through his jeans, and it makes you ache with need.
He breaks the kiss again, trailing his lips down your neck as his hands work to unclasp your bra. It falls to the floor, joining the growing pile of clothes. He takes a moment to look at you, his eyes dark with desire as they rake over your naked breasts.
"Fuck, you're beautiful," he murmurs, his hands cupping the soft mounds. You gasp as his thumbs brush over your nipples, sending sparks of pleasure shooting through you.
He leans down, taking one of the hardened peaks into his mouth. You cry out, your fingers tangling in his hair as he sucks and licks and nibbles. Your hips buck against his, seeking friction, and he groans around your nipple, the vibrations making you shiver.
He gives the other breast the same attention, lavishing it with kisses and bites until you're writhing beneath him. Only then does he move lower, pressing hot, open-mouthed kisses along your stomach as he kneels before you.
His hands hook in the waistband of your jeans, tugging them down along with your panties. You step out of them, kicking them aside as he looks up at you from his knees. The sight of him there, kneeling before you like you're a goddess to be worshipped, makes your knees weak.
"Bucky," you breathe, and it's half plea, half prayer.
He grins up at you, a devilish glint in his eyes. "Patience, baby. I'm going to take my time with you."
And then his mouth is on you, his tongue delving between your folds to taste you. You cry out, your head falling back as pleasure crashes over you. He licks and sucks and teases, his hands gripping your hips to hold you in place as he devours you.
Your fingers tangle in his hair, holding him to you as he drives you closer and closer to the edge. Just when you think you can't take anymore, he pulls back, leaving you gasping and empty.
"Bucky, please," you whimper, and he chuckles darkly.
"Please what, baby? Tell me what you want."
"I want you," you pant, looking down at him with desperation in your eyes. "I want you inside me."
He stands up, pulling you flush against him as he captures your mouth in a searing kiss. You can taste yourself on his lips, and it makes you even more aroused. His hands grip your ass, kneading the flesh as he grinds his hardness against your bare core.
"Bed," he growls against your lips, and you nod frantically, tugging him towards the mattress.
You tumble onto the bed together, a tangle of limbs and desire. He breaks the kiss to sit up, yanking his shirt over his head and tossing it aside. You take a moment to admire the hard planes of his chest, the scars that crisscross his skin like a roadmap of his past.
He crawls back over you, his hips settling between your thighs as he reaches for his belt. You watch, transfixed, as he unbuckles it and shoves his jeans and boxers down, freeing him.
He settles back over you, his head brushing against your entrance. You shudder at the contact, your hips lifting to try and draw him in.
"Tell me you want this," he whispers, his voice rough with need. "Tell me you want me."
"I want you," you breathe, wrapping your legs around his waist. "I want all of you."
And with that, he thrusts into you, burying himself to the hilt in one smooth motion. You cry out at the sudden fullness, your nails digging into his shoulders as you adjust to the stretch.
He pauses for a moment, letting you get used to him. Then he starts to move, pulling out slowly before slamming back in. You meet him thrust for thrust, your hips rising to take him deeper.
The bed creaks beneath you as he sets a relentless pace, driving into you again and again. The sound of skin slapping against skin fills the room, mingling with your moans and his grunts of pleasure.
"Fuck, you feel so good," he groans, burying his face in your neck. "So perfect."
You clench around him in response, and he curses, his hips snapping forward harder.
"I'm gonna come," you gasp, your body tensing beneath him. "Bucky, I'm gonna-"
But he cuts off your words with a kiss, swallowing your cries of pleasure as you come undone beneath him. Your body spasms around him, milking him as he follows you over the edge with a hoarse shout of your name.
He collapses on top of you, both of you gasping for breath as the aftershocks of your orgasms roll through you. He presses soft kisses to your neck, your jawline, your lips as you bask in the afterglow.
"I love you," he murmurs against your skin, and you hope it's just not the sex talking.
Later that week, youâre sitting at a bar with Natasha. She watches you nurse your drink, her sharp green eyes narrowing as you tell her what happened.
âHe called,â you say, staring down at the condensation on your glass. âAnd like an idiot, I picked up, and he came over, we had sex and he was gone in the morningâ
Natasha doesnât say anything at first. She just leans back, crossing her arms. âWhat do you want me to say?â she asks finally. âThat heâs going to change? That this time will be different?â
You shake your head. âNo. I justâŠâ You trail off, struggling to put the feeling into words. âI just wish I didnât miss him so much. I wish I could stop.â
She sighs, leaning forward. âListen to me,â she says, her voice soft but firm. âHeâs not going to fix this. You know that, right? Heâs not going to wake up one day and suddenly figure out how to love you the way you deserve. Thatâs not who he is, you have to know that babeâŠ"
âI know,â you whisper. But the ache in your chest doesnât go away.
Natasha exhales deeply, tilting her head as if trying to decide whether to push further. Finally, she sets her drink down and leans across the table, her voice quieter but no less serious. âSo, whatâs the plan? You gonna keep answering when he calls? Keep letting him come over, screw you and your head, and leave like nothing happened?â
You donât answer, just trace the edge of your glass with your finger. The truth is, you donât have a plan. Youâre not even sure you want one. âHe said he loves me, he's never said that beforeâ
Natasha leans back in her chair, crossing her arms as she studies you. Her sharp green eyes narrow slightly, but thereâs no satisfaction in her expression. She doesnât look impressed, doesnât look relieved, like youâd hoped she might. Instead, her face softens, just slightly, in that way that means sheâs about to say something you donât want to hear.
âOkay,â she says slowly, her voice calm but pointed. âAnd what does that change?â
Her question hits like a bucket of cold water, and you blink at her, your fingers freezing mid-trace on the rim of your glass. âWhat do you mean?â
âI mean, so what?â Natasha continues, leaning forward now, her elbows on the table. âHe said the words. Great. But what does that actually mean to you? Did it make you feel better? Did it fix anything?â
You open your mouth to reply, but no words come out. The truth sits heavy in your chest.
âItâs not enough just to say it,â Natasha presses, her tone still steady but with an edge of frustration. âLove isnât just words. Itâs showing up. Itâs consistency. Itâs choosing someone, not just when itâs convenient, but every single day. Did he do that? Or did he just say what youâve been waiting to hear and then disappear again?â
The ache in your chest tightens, and you look down, your fingers clutching the glass like it might hold the answers youâre searching for. âHeâheâs trying,â you say weakly, but even you donât sound convinced.
Natasha lets out a breath, her voice softening again. âBabe⊠I know you want to believe him. I know you love him. But this?â She gestures vaguely, as if to encompass all of itâyour tears, the late-night calls, the endless cycle. âThis isnât what love is supposed to feel like. Love doesnât leave you questioning your worth every time the sun comes up.â
The words settle over you like a weight, and you swallow hard, blinking back the tears that threaten to spill. You donât want her to see you cry. Not here. Not like this.
âNatâŠâ you start, your voice barely above a whisper. But she shakes her head, her expression soft but unyielding.
âIâm not saying this to hurt you,â she says gently. âI just⊠I want you to be happy. And youâre not happy right now. You havenât been for a long time.â
Before you can respond, the stool next to her screeches, and Sam slides into it, his energy a stark contrast to the heavy atmosphere between you and Nat. He plunks his beer on the table and gives you a once-over.
âWell, you look like someone stole your puppy,â he says, his tone light but his eyes sharp.
Natasha shoots him a look. âNot the time, Sam.â
âIâm just saying,â he replies, leaning back and gesturing to you. âSheâs been sitting here all night, looking like a sad indie song, and youâre just gonna let her wallow?â
You glare at him, the frustration bubbling to the surface. âDo you have something to say, or are you just here to make jokes?â
âBoth,â Sam says, taking a sip of his beer before setting it down. âLook, I love you, but this thing with Bucky? Itâs killing you, and everyone can see it. Hell, you can see it, but youâre still pretending like itâs gonna work itself out.â
âSam,â Natasha warns, but he holds up a hand.
âNo, let me finish,â he says, his voice more serious now. âIâve been where you are, okay? Hanging onto something thatâs breaking you because youâre scared to let it go. But you know what happens if you keep holding on?â He pauses, meeting your eyes. âYou lose yourself. And I donât want that for you.â
His words hit harder than you expect, and for a moment, all you can do is sit there, blinking back the tears threatening to spill.
âI donât know how to let him go,â you admit finally, your voice barely above a whisper. âI donât even know who I am without him.â
Sam leans forward, resting his elbows on the table. âThen itâs time to figure that out. Because you deserve better than waiting around for someone who doesnât see how amazing you areânot someone who only comes around when itâs convenient for him.â
After Sam and Natasha head home, you find yourself walking through the quiet streets, your hands shoved into your coat pockets. The city hums around you, but you feel untethered, like youâre floating between who you are and who you want to be.
Before you realize it, your feet take you to Buckyâs building. You stop at the corner, staring up at the windows. The lights in his apartment are off, but you know heâs there. Heâs always there.
Your phone buzzes in your pocket. You pull it out, your heart sinking when you see his name.
Bucky: You up?
The message is simple, familiar, and infuriatingly tempting. Your thumb hovers over the screen.
You: Yes, just leaving the bar.
Bucky: Ill see you in 20.
You see his light flick on.
You: Okay.
Youâre sitting in your apartment with Steve. Heâd shown up unexpectedly, a bag of bagels in one hand and a concerned look on his face. Now, heâs watching you carefully as you pick at your food, the silence between you growing heavier by the minute.
âI heard about last night,â he says eventually, breaking the stillness.
You glance up, narrowing your eyes. âNatasha?â
âSam,â he admits with a small smile, but his expression stays serious. âHeâs worried about you. We all are.â
You sigh, leaning back against the couch. âIâm fine, Steve.â
âYouâre not fine,â he says gently, setting his coffee down on the table. âAnd itâs okay to not be fine. But you need to stop punishing yourself for wanting more than what Bucky can give you.â
Your chest tightens, and you look away, your voice barely audible. âHeâs not a bad person, Steve. Heâs just⊠broken.â
âI know he is,â Steve says softly, his tone patient but firm. âAnd I know he cares about you, even if heâs too scared to show it. But that doesnât mean you have to keep hurting yourself to save him.â
You open your mouth to respond, but the words get stuck in your throat. Instead, you ask the question thatâs been clawing at you for days. âIs he seeing anyone else?â
Steve freezes mid-bite, his jaw tightening. âYes.â
You nod slowly, your hands trembling as you set your plate down on the coffee table. âAre they⊠are they having sex?â
Steveâs shoulders sag slightly, and he shakes his head. âNo.â
The relief you feel is fleeting, quickly replaced by another acheâsomething deeper, sharper. âHe told me he loves me, yâknow,â you whisper, your voice cracking.
That makes Steve freeze completely. He sets his bagel down, staring at you with wide, startled eyes. âHe said that?â
You nod, the words pouring out of you now, unfiltered and raw. âHeâs never said it before. And I didnât know what to do. Because it felt⊠real. For a second, it felt like maybe this time was different. But then he was gone the next morning, like always.â
Steve leans back in his chair, his brow furrowed, like heâs trying to process what youâve just said. âDid he mean it?â he asks finally, his voice cautious.
You let out a bitter laugh, wiping at your eyes. âI donât know, Steve. Does it matter? He says one thing, but everything else he does justâŠâ You trail off, shaking your head.
âIt matters,â Steve says firmly, leaning forward. âIf he loves you, thatâs something. But love isnât enough if he canât show it, if he canât make you feel it.â Steve is quiet for a long moment, his expression pained. âYou deserve more than that,â he says finally. âYou deserve someone whoâs not afraid to fight for you. Someone who doesnât make you feel like youâre asking for too much just by being yourself.â
-----------
The music is loud, pulsing through the crowded bar in a steady rhythm that matches the pounding in your chest. You're friends are off dancing their cares away, while you sit at a small table near the corner, nursing your drink, half-hidden in the dim lighting. The condensation from the glass drips onto your hand, but you barely notice.
Your eyes keep drifting to him.
Bucky is across the room, his arm slung casually around another womanâs shoulders. Sheâs laughing, tilting her head toward him like heâs just told her the funniest joke in the world. He looks⊠relaxed. At ease in a way you havenât seen in a long time, and itâs like someoneâs taken a knife to your chest, twisting it deeper with every passing second.
You force yourself to look away, staring into the amber liquid in your glass like it holds answers to questions youâre too scared to ask. But it doesnât work. Your gaze flickers back to him, almost involuntarily.
Theyâre dancing now, swaying to a song you donât recognize. His hand rests lightly on her hip, his fingers brushing against the fabric of her dress in a way that feels too intimate, too familiar.
And then he kisses her.
Not on the lips, but on her head, his lips lingering against her hair as she leans into him. Itâs tender, effortless, the kind of gesture that feels natural, like it belongs to someone who knows how to love without hesitation.
Your chest tightens, and you swallow the lump forming in your throat, forcing yourself to take another sip of your drink. The bitterness burns your tongue, but itâs nothing compared to the ache spreading through you.
You tell yourself you donât care. That this doesnât matter. That heâs made his choice, and it isnât you.
But the truth is, it matters too much.
You drain the rest of your drink, the cold liquid going down in one sharp swallow. You set the glass down harder than you mean to, the dull thud lost in the noise of the bar.
You glance over at him one last time, just to confirm what you already know. Heâs still there, his attention focused on her.
But then his eyes shift.
He sees you.
For a split second, your gazes lock across the room, and the weight of his stare pins you in place. His hand pauses on her back, and something flickers in his expressionâguilt, maybe, or regret.
You canât tell, and youâre not sure you want to.
The heat of his gaze follows you as you stand, slipping your bag over your shoulder and making your way toward the door. The noise of the bar fades into the background as you weave through the crowd, your footsteps quick and purposeful.
You donât look back, but you can feel him watching you, his eyes lingering like a phantom touch that burns even after youâre gone.
The cold night air hits your face as you step outside, and you inhale deeply, trying to push the ache in your chest away.
But it stays. It always stays.
That night, youâre curled up on your couch, a blanket wrapped around you as the city lights flicker through the window. Your phone sits on the coffee table, dark and silent.
Until itâs not.
The screen lights up, and Buckyâs name appears. The voicemail notification lingers like a ghost, and your hand trembles as you reach for it.
You press play, his voice cracking through the silence.
âI know Iâve screwed this up. I know I donât deserve another chance. But I miss you, and I donât know how to do this without you. Please⊠just call me, Iâm sorryâ
-------
You find him outside on the balcony, leaning heavily against the railing, his shoulders hunched like the weight of the world is pressing down on him. The cold night air bites at your skin, and the faint glow of the streetlights below casts shadows that dance across his face. He doesnât turn when you step out. He never does. Thatâs the thing about Buckyâhe always knows youâre there, but heâs mastered the art of pretending not to.
The sound of the sliding door closing behind you feels final, like youâve just stepped into a space you wonât come back from. Your arms wrap around yourself, a weak defense against the coldâor maybe against himâand you take a hesitant step forward.
âI thought you left,â you say, breaking the fragile quiet. Your voice wavers, as unsure as the ground youâre standing on.
He finally looks over his shoulder, his eyes heavy and rimmed with shadows. He looks wrecked. Tired in a way that no amount of sleep could fix. âAlmost did,â he says softly, his voice barely audible over the distant hum of the city.
You step closer, your chest tightening at his words, at the way he doesnât move, doesnât shift to let you in. âWhy didnât you?â
He shrugs, turning back to the skyline, his fingers gripping the railing. âI havenât heard from you all week.â
The ache in your chest sharpens at his tone, a flicker of hope you hate sneaking in despite yourself. Itâs always like this: just enough vulnerability to keep you tethered. You stop a few feet away, the space between you feeling like a canyon, impossible to bridge.
âThis isnât working,â you say, finally voicing the thought thatâs been clawing at you for weeks. âWhatever this is. Itâs not working, Bucky.â
He doesnât react at first, just keeps staring out at the city, like it holds an answer heâs too afraid to look for. When he finally speaks, his voice is low and rough. âI know.â
The simplicity of his admission steals your breath. Itâs not that you didnât expect it. You did. Youâve been here before, standing on the edge of this same cliff, waiting for the inevitable fall.
âSo why are we still here?â you ask, your voice trembling, tinged with a desperation you wish you could hide.
He exhales, dragging a hand through his hair. The motion is frustrated, exhausted, like heâs tired of his own indecision. âBecause I donât know how to stop,â he admits, his words cutting through the night air with brutal honesty.
You take another step closer, close enough to see the tension in his jaw, the way his knuckles turn white as he grips the railing. âBucky,â you say, your voice soft but breaking. âI need more than this. I need to know if youâre ever going to stop running every time things get hard. Because I canât keep waiting for you to figure it out.â
He turns to face you then, his blue eyes locking onto yours. Thereâs something in themâsomething raw and fragile and so heartbreakingly familiar. For a fleeting second, you think this is it. The moment heâll finally tell you what youâve been waiting to hear.
But then he looks away, his jaw tightening. âI donât know if I can.â
The nausea hits you like a punch, twisting your stomach into knots. You take a shaky step back, wrapping your arms around yourself like it might keep you from falling apart. âDo you even want to try?â
His silence is deafening, an answer in itself.
You let out a bitter laugh, the sound hollow and sharp. âYouâre unbelievable,â you whisper, more to yourself than to him. âIâm standing here, practically begging you to tell me you care, and you canât even do that.â
âI care,â he says, his voice barely above a whisper. âYou know I care.â
âDo I?â Your voice rises, anger bubbling to the surface, breaking through the pain. âBecause it sure as hell doesnât feel like it. You say you care, but you act like Iâm something you can pick up and put down whenever itâs convenient for you.â
âStop,â he says, his voice suddenly firm, his eyes snapping back to yours. Thereâs something desperate in his tone, something pleading that makes your breath hitch. âI donât⊠I donât know how to do this.â
âNo, Bucky.â You shake your head, your voice trembling with fury and heartbreak. âYou just donât want to. And thereâs a difference.â
The words hang between you, heavy and suffocating. He opens his mouth, like heâs about to say something, but then he stops. His eyes dart back to the city skyline, and you see itâthe war heâs waging with himself, the battle between what he wants and what heâs too scared to reach for.
âSay something,â you whisper, your voice cracking under the weight of the moment. âSay anything.â
âIâm seeing someone,â he says suddenly, his hands gripping the railing so tightly you half expect it to snap. The words hit like a freight train, knocking the air from your lungs.
The world around you tilts. Your hands tremble as you take a step back. âOf course you are,â you say, your voice barely above a whisper. The bitter laugh that follows feels like it belongs to someone else. âIâm done.â
You turn toward the sliding door, your heart pounding so hard it feels like it might shatter. Your hand trembles as you reach for the handle, pausing for just a second, hopingâprayingâheâll stop you. That heâll fight.
But the silence stretches on, heavier and colder than the night air.
When you glance over your shoulder, heâs still standing there, staring down at the city like heâs already let you go.
Your throat tightens, but you force yourself to slide the door open and step back inside. The warmth of the apartment hits you like a slap, but it does nothing to ease the chill in your chest.
The door slides shut with a quiet thud.
And Bucky doesnât follow.
Youâd just moved into a new apartment, one that wasn't tainted with all the places he'd touched, places he'd been. It made things easier it wasn't the reason for your move but it helped. Natasha had decided you were both done unpacking for the night so naturally she had dragged you to a party. Steveâs place, of course. The apartment was alive with the energy of too many people crammed into too little space. Natasha had disappeared into a circle of friends near the kitchen, leaving you to nurse your drink in a corner. Thatâs when you noticed him.
Bucky.
He was leaning against the wall, looking like heâd rather be anywhere else. Dark hair falling into his eyes, a leather jacket slung over his shoulder despite the heat of the crowded room. He didnât see you at first, but when he did, his gaze lingered just long enough to make your pulse race.
You told yourself you wouldnât approach him, but an hour later, you were pressed against the wall in Steveâs hallway, his lips trailing down your neck, his hands gripping your hips like he couldnât get close enough. It was messy, impulsive, and thrilling.
âWe probably shouldnât,â youâd whispered, your breath catching as his mouth moved against your collarbone.
Heâd laughed softly, his voice low and rough. âYeah. Probably not.â
Neither of you stopped.
There were moments after thatâmoments that felt like everything youâd ever wanted. Late nights in his apartment, the room dimly lit by the glow of the city outside. Heâd lie next to you, his fingers tracing absent patterns on your arm as you talked about everything and nothing.
Heâd tell you about his childhood, the things he rarely told anyone. The weight of his past. And youâd listen, feeling like you were peeling back layers of him that no one else had ever seen.
âYou donât have to fix me,â heâd murmured once, his voice barely above a whisper. âI just⊠I like being around you.â
Youâd smiled, brushing his hair back from his face. âIâm not trying to fix you, Bucky.â
And in those moments, you werenât lying.
But then there were the other moments. The ones where he pulled away so fast it left you reeling.
You remember the first time he didnât text you back. It wasnât just hoursâit was days. Days of overanalyzing every word youâd said to him the last time you saw him. Days of your stomach twisting every time your phone buzzed, only for it to not be him.
When he finally did text, it was so casual it made you want to scream.
âHey. You good?â
No apology. No explanation. Just like that, he was back. And you let him back in because you didnât know how not to.
And then there was the jealousy. The way youâd catch him talking to someone else at a party, his body language so open and inviting in a way it rarely was with you. You hated how it made you feel, the bitterness that bubbled up, the way you wanted to pull him aside and demand to know if he cared about you at all.
But you didnât. You never did.
âDo you even want to move on?â Wanda asks, her tone soft but pointed. âOr is this just who you are now?â
You blink at her, her words cutting through the haze of your thoughts. âI donât know,â you admit, your voice barely above a whisper.
She sighs, leaning forward to rest her elbows on her knees. âYou deserve better, you know that, right?â
The door swings open, and Natasha walks in, dropping her bag on the counter. She gives you a look, one thatâs equal parts sympathetic and exasperated.
âLet me guess,â she says, crossing her arms. âYouâre thinking about him again.â
You donât answer, but the way your jaw tightens is enough for her to roll her eyes. âYou know heâs not good for you. Why do you keep doing this to yourself?â
âI donât know,â you snap, harsher than you mean to. âMaybe because itâs not that simple.â
âActually, it is,â Natasha retorts, her voice sharp. âYou stop calling him. You stop answering when he calls. You stop letting him treat you like an afterthought.â
âNatââ Wanda starts, her tone soothing, but Natasha holds up a hand.
âNo, she needs to hear this.â She looks at you again, her expression softening just slightly. âI know you care about him. But caring about him isnât enough if he doesnât care about you the same way. At some point, you have to start putting yourself first.â
You glance away, her words hitting too close to home.
âI donât get you,â youâd once said your voice trembling with frustration. âOne minute youâre here, and it feels likeâlike maybe this could be something. And the next, youâre gone.â
Heâd run a hand through his hair, pacing the room. âItâs not that simple.â
âYes, it is, Bucky,â youâd said, your voice rising. âYou either want me, or you donât. So which is it?â
Heâd stopped then, turning to look at you. And the look on his faceâit wasnât anger or indifference. It was fear.
âI donât know,â heâd said finally, his voice breaking.
And that was the worst part.
âYouâre spiraling,â Sam said. He wasnât harsh about it, but he didnât sugarcoat it either. âThis isnât love. Itâs self-destruction.â
Even as you think it, your phone buzzes on the coffee table. The sound feels too loud in the quiet room, pulling everyoneâs attention. You glance at the screen, and your heart skips when you see his name. Just his nameâno message preview, no context, just him.
Wanda notices, her brow furrowing as she leans forward. âDonât,â she says softly, but thereâs a weight behind the word, a plea. âYouâll just end up back where you started.â
You stare at the screen, your thumb hovering over the notification. The silence in the room grows heavier, charged with unspoken tension. Your chest tightens as your mind races. It would be so easy. Just one tap, and heâd be there again. One tap, and youâd hear his voice, feel the pull that always brings you back.
âI justâŠâ Your voice falters, your eyes flickering to Wanda and then to Sam, who watches you with a mix of concern and frustration. âWhat if this time itâs different?â
Sam lets out a bitter laugh, running a hand over his face. âYou think this time is different? Come on. Whatâs he going to say that he hasnât already said a hundred times before?â
âItâs not about what he says,â Wanda interjects, her voice gentle but firm. âItâs about what he does. And what has he done, really, except hurt you?â
You look back at the screen. The notification is still there, a glaring reminder of the mess you canât seem to escape. Your thumb presses down slightly, not enough to open it but enough to feel the weight of the choice.
âBut I love him,â you whisper. The words tumble out before you can stop them, raw and unfiltered.
Sam exhales sharply, standing up from the chair and pacing across the room. âYeah, we know. Everyone knows. But does he love you? Because if he does, heâs got a real shitty way of showing it.â
You flinch at his tone, the harshness cutting through your defenses. âHe does love me,â you say quietly, more to yourself than to him.
âThen where is he?â Sam snaps, turning to face you. âWhy isnât he here, fighting for you instead of blowing up your phone every time he feels lonely? Why is it always you doing the heavy lifting?â
Wanda places a hand on Samâs arm, pulling him back gently. âSamâŠâ
âNo, I need to say it,â he says, his voice softer now but still firm. âLove isnât supposed to feel like this. Itâs not supposed to feel like youâre drowning every damn day just to keep him afloat.â
The bar is too loud, too crowded, and too filled with memories of Bucky for you to feel at ease. But youâre here because itâs Steveâs birthday, and Natasha had insisted. And of course you came it was Steve.
Youâre leaning against the bar, talking to a man you barely know. His smile is easy, his laugh smooth, and even though youâre trying to focus on him, you can feel Buckyâs eyes on you. From across the room, his gaze burns into your back, searing through your dress like a brand.
You glance over your shoulder, meeting his eyes for a split second. The tension in his jaw, the way his drink sits untouched in his handâitâs the most emotion heâs shown all night. But itâs not enough to stop you.
If he wants to act like he doesnât care, youâll give him something to not care about.
The man beside you leans in, his hand brushing against your arm as he says something you donât quite catch over the noise. You laugh, even though you barely hear the joke. You laugh because you know Bucky is watching.
It doesnât take long for him to snap.
Before you realize whatâs happening, his hand is on your wrist. Firm but not rough, his grip sends a jolt through you. âLetâs go,â he says, his voice low and clipped.
âExcuse me?â You pull back, glaring at him, but his grip doesnât loosen.
âWeâre leaving,â he says, not looking at you, not giving the man beside you so much as a glance.
âBuckyââ you start, but heâs already pulling you through the crowd, weaving between bodies with single-minded determination.
By the time you reach his apartment, youâre seething. He slams the door shut behind you, the sound echoing through the dimly lit space.
âWhat the hell is your problem?â you snap, crossing your arms.
âMy problem?â he fires back, pacing across the room like a caged animal. âMy problem is you acting like that guy meant anything to you!â
âOh, and you would know what means something to me, right?â You take a step closer, your voice rising. âBecause youâre so good at showing me how much I mean to you.â
He stops, his eyes narrowing. âDonât turn this on me.â
âWhy not? Itâs always about you, isnât it, Bucky? What you want, what you feel. You drag me into your mess every time, and I let you, because Iââ
You stop yourself, your breath catching.
âBecause you what?â he demands, his voice sharp.
âBecause I care about you!â you yell, your chest heaving. âAnd all you ever do is hurt me for it.â
His face twists, like your words hit him somewhere deep. For a moment, you think heâs going to say something, that heâs going to explain or apologize or do something, but instead, he grabs a plate from the counter and hurls it against the wall. The sharp crash reverberates through the room, the pieces scattering across the floor like jagged confessions neither of you are ready to face.
You flinch at the sound, but the fire in your chest burns brighter, fueled by the chaos. âOh, real mature, Bucky. Breaking dishes? Thatâs your solution? Just break things until you donât have to feel anything anymore?â
He grabs another plate, his hand trembling as he grips it, his knuckles white. His voice breaks as he yells, âYou think this is easy for me? You think I donât know Iâm screwing this up? That I donât hate myself for it?â
âThen stop!â you shout back, your voice raw and cracking under the weight of it all. âStop hurting me, stop dragging me back, stopâjust stop!â
The plate shakes in his hand, and for a second, you think heâs going to throw it again. Instead, he slams it down on the counter with a hollow thud. His shoulders slump as he leans over it, his head bowed like heâs trying to hold himself together. His breathing is ragged, his hands gripping the edge of the counter so tightly you think it might break under the strain.
âI donât know how,â he whispers finally, his voice so soft you almost donât hear it. âI donât know how to be what you need.â
The vulnerability in his voice slices through you, but itâs not enough. Not this time. The ache in your chest is unbearable, your heart breaking as you look at the man you love and realize heâll never love you the way you need him to.
âThen let me go, Bucky,â you say, your voice trembling but resolute. âIf you canât give me what I need, let me go.â
He finally turns to face you, his eyes shining with unshed tears. âI canât,â he says, his voice breaking like the plates he just shattered. âI donât want to let you go.â
Your chest tightens, the pain twisting deeper with every word. âArenât you seeing someone?â you ask, your voice sharper than you intended.
He shakes his head, his jaw clenching. âSheâs not you,â he says, his voice trembling. âTheyâre never you.â
The admission stuns you into silence for a moment. The tears youâve been holding back spill over, hot and heavy. âThen why canât you give me that, Bucky?â you whisper, your voice shaking with anger and grief. âWhy can you give it to them but not to me? Why is it always me whoâs left bleeding for you? Itâs not fairâI give you everything! And you just take, take, take! Whatâs left of me after this?â
Your words hang between you, raw and unfiltered, and for a moment, he doesnât respond. He doesnât try to defend himself, doesnât even try to apologize. He just stares at you, his eyes wide and desperate, like heâs drowning in the mess heâs made.
Then, without warning, he steps forward, grabbing your face in his hands. His touch is rough, almost frantic, his fingers trembling against your skin. âIâm sorry,â he whispers, his voice breaking. âIâm so sorry.â
And before you can say anything, before you can even catch your breath, his lips crash into yours.
The kiss is desperate and messy, his tears mixing with yours as he pulls you closer like heâs afraid to let go. His hands shake as they cup your face, his lips pressing against yours with a fierceness that makes your knees weak.
You hate how easily you give in, how quickly your hands find their way to his chest, clutching at the fabric of his shirt like itâs the only thing keeping you upright. The anger and pain and longing all bleed together in that kiss, every unspoken word, every broken promise, every piece of you heâs taken without giving anything back.
When he pulls away, his forehead rests against yours, his breath warm and ragged against your skin. âBut I canât lose you. Please⊠donât leave me.â He whispers his voice trembling
Your heart shatters all over again. âOkayâ
Buckyâs hands tighten on your arms, his breath warm and uneven against your face. His lips hover just above yours, his eyes searching yours for somethingâpermission, maybe, or forgiveness he doesnât deserve. You donât give it to him, but you donât pull away either.
Instead, your hands move on their own, sliding up his chest and curling into the fabric of his shirt. The tension between you snaps like a live wire as he closes the distance again, his mouth crashing against yours with a desperation that leaves no room for hesitation.
The kiss deepens, his lips parting yours, his tongue brushing against yours in a way that sends heat pooling low in your belly. His hands roam down your sides, fingers gripping your hips like heâs afraid youâll slip away. You press closer, your body molding to his as the frustration and anger between you melt into something darker, hotter, and infinitely more consuming.
Bucky backs you up until your hips hit the edge of the counter, the cool surface biting into your skin through the thin fabric of your dress. His hands slide up your thighs, his touch firm and deliberate as he lifts you onto the counter. You gasp against his mouth, your hands tangling in his hair as he steps between your legs, his body pressing against yours in all the right ways.
âTell me to stop,â he murmurs against your lips, his voice rough and breathless. âIf this isnât what you want, tell me now.â
You pull back just enough to look at him, your chest heaving as you meet his gaze. His blue eyes are dark, filled with a mix of longing and uncertainty that tugs at something deep inside you. âDonât stop,â you whisper, your voice trembling with need.
Thatâs all it takes. He grips the hem of your dress and pulls it up, his hands sliding over your thighs, rough and calloused against your skin. His lips trail down your neck, his stubble scraping lightly against you as he kisses the sensitive spot just below your ear. Your head tilts back, a soft moan escaping your lips as his hands and mouth make you forget every argument, every broken moment that led you here.
His fingers find the edge of your underwear, his touch teasing as he looks up at you, waiting. You nod, your breath hitching as he slides them aside, his fingers exploring with a skill that leaves you trembling. He watches you intently, his gaze locked on your face as he learns every reaction, every sound you make.
When his name slips from your lips, low and needy, itâs like something inside him snaps. He lifts you effortlessly, carrying you to the couch with a strength that leaves you dizzy. The world blurs around you, your focus narrowing to the feel of his body against yours, the weight of his hands, the intensity of his gaze.
âYouâre all I think about,â he says, his voice raw as he settles over you. âEvery damn day.â
You donât answer. You canât. The only response you can give is the way you arch into him, the way you pull him closer, needing him as much as he needs you. And when he finally joins you, itâs slow and deliberate, every movement designed to pull you deeper into the storm of him.
The morning light seeps through the curtains as you stand by his window, fully dressed, the quiet hum of the city below serving as your only company. Bucky is still asleep in the bed, his arm draped across the pillow where you had been just hours ago. You glance at him one last time, your heart clenching in your chest. For a fleeting moment, you consider crawling back into bed, letting yourself believe in the softness of this moment.
But you canât.
You quietly grab your things and slip out the door, the sound of it clicking shut behind you feeling heavier than it should.
By mid-morning, youâve buried yourself in mundane errandsâanything to keep your mind from circling back to him. Youâre at the farmerâs market now, weaving through the stalls of fresh produce and flowers, the air filled with the faint scent of lavender and bread. You clutch a tote bag tightly in your hand, trying to focus on the vibrant colors of the fruit in front of you.
You pick up an apple, turning it over in your hand absently. Itâs almost enough to distract you from the ache still lodged in your chest. Almost.
Until you see him.
You freeze, the apple slipping from your grasp and thudding softly onto the wooden table in front of you. Your breath catches, and the world seems to narrow until itâs just him, standing only a few stalls away.
His dark hair catches the sunlight, and for a moment, it feels like nothing has changed, like the night before never ended. His eyes are locked on yours, wide and filled with a mix of emotions you canât quite placeâshock, guilt, something softer that makes your chest tighten painfully.
For a moment, itâs just the two of you, suspended in time. Everyone else around you fades into nothing, their chatter and laughter muffled like the background of a dream.
But then your gaze shifts.
To her.
The woman standing beside him.
Her hand is clasped firmly in his, their fingers intertwined in a way that feels too familiar, too intimate. Sheâs beautiful, her expression warm and open as she looks up at him, clearly unaware of the storm brewing between his gaze and yours.
Your stomach twists violently, and the apple youâd forgotten about rolls off the edge of the table and hits the ground.
Buckyâs face changes when he sees you notice her, his eyes softening with guilt, his mouth parting as if he wants to say something, anything. But he doesnât.
He just stands there, holding her hand, while your chest caves in.
You swallow hard, your throat tight as you force yourself to look away, your vision blurring with unshed tears. You clutch your tote bag tighter and turn, walking away without another word.
You barely make it out of the market before the tears spill over. You wipe them away furiously, your hands trembling as you duck into a side street, out of view from the crowds.
The weight of his gaze lingers on your back, like a hand reaching out but never quite touching you. You can feel him watching you, but you donât dare turn around. You canât.
You stop for a moment, your chest heaving as you lean against the wall of a brick building. The morning sun feels too bright, the world too loud despite the hollow silence pounding in your ears.
He didnât follow.
You told yourself you didnât want him to, but the ache in your chest says otherwise.
When you glance back toward the market, just for a second, you see him standing at the edge of the stalls, his hand no longer in hers, his face etched with something that looks like regret.
But he doesnât move.
And neither do you.
With a deep breath, you wipe your face one last time, adjust the strap of your tote bag, and walk away. The weight in your chest feels unbearable, but your feet keep moving anyway.
The apartment is quiet that night, the silence pressing down on you as you sit by the window, staring out at the city lights. You tell yourself youâre not waiting for him, but your phone sits beside you on the windowsill, the screen dark but heavy with possibilities.
Itâs almost midnight when the buzz breaks the silence. You glance at the screen, your heart stopping when you see his name.
The message is simple. âPlease, can we talk? I miss youâŠIâm sorryâ

âïž data science major!jeonghan x reader.
if there's one thing you've never been able to decode, it'd be your ex-boyfriend jeonghan ⶠpart of my svt university milestone event
‿ college exes, jeonghan is a menaceâą, suggestive coding pickup lines, [slight] angst, terrible pseudo-html for the hc (shoutout to w3schools). more content under the cut. âĄâžâž prompt from @choco-scoups & anon!
<!doctype html> <html> <head> <title> decoding the breakup </title> <subtitle> yoon jeonghan (est. 2024) </subtitle> </head> </body> <script>
if (you still love them) {   // remind yourself of why you broke up in the first place   // date other people who don't even come close to them   // bury yourself in schoolwork or literally anything else that will make you forget } else {   // accept that you still have feelings }
if (you want them back) {   // be annoying enough that you're always on their mind   // reverse psychology them into thinking that they want you back   // reference your relationship so they might want it back, too   // hit them with the world's worst pickup lines so you can catch their attention } else {   // keep on trying until you succeed }
<p> confession time: running into you at what's supposed to be our spot was completely unintentional. that wasn't part of the bigger plan, of the grand scheme of things. that was just me trying to find some comfort in something familiar. in the quiet places where you once loved me. i'm a fool who likes to pretend, here and there, that our little corner of campus still remembers what it was like for us to be together. </p>
if (they still hate you) {   // accept it  // settle for what you're given } else {   // live for the hope of it all }
<p> confession time, part two: i still love you. of course i do. why the hell would i be doing all this if i didn't? <a href="https://www.svtuni.com/jun">jun</a> says love isn't a once-in-a-lifetime thing, but i beg to differ. at the risk of sounding like a bigger fool, i truly believe that i don't think i'll ever love anyone as much as i've loved you. </p>
<p> even <a href="https://www.svtuni.com/mingyu">mingyu</a> has gotten his sequel. and he's asked me, time and time again, if that's something i want with you. some second chance romance, one that won't end with me being 'Maybe: Jeonghan' in your phone. </p>
<p> <a href="https://www.svtuni.com/vernon">vernon</a> will be the first to tell us both that the body doesn't lie. some bullshit about the heart knowing what it wants, about it not being good for us to deny our most basic instincts of what it truly wants. our friends don't know how to keep their opinions to themselves, unfortunately. </p>
<p> <h1> anyway. what matters are my thoughts, right? </h1> </p>
<p> and my only thought is that i love you. i loved you when we were together, and i love you even now. i loved you, and i was bad at it, and i will live the rest of my life wondering what i could have done differently. as it is, i'm worried that i'm still not good enough for you. that i'll make the same mistakes that i did back then. </p>
<p> i'm happy to just love you, if you'll let me. i'm happy to be petty, to make up all these terrible pick up lines. to make you smile and scoff and roll your eyes. i want to love you and to want nothing in return. not until i deserve it. not until i can finally, finally say i'm worth your time. </p>
<p> <small> please. </small> </p>

people are likening the last one to the plot of Monsters Inc. so I feel obligated to point some things out:
the "fear vs laughter" premise of monsters inc is part of a broader allegory about corporate greed at the expense of the health and well-being of the world at large. in particular, it's roughly analogous to the world's continued reliance on fossil fuels, which is due in part to fearmongering about nuclear power and wind farms.
a key element of the plot is that it's not just a matter of "the main characters don't want to subsist on fear, they want to be Niceys." the plot and characterization rely on sully and ESPECIALLY mike buying into the corporate line on human children, and thus going from "terrified" to "confused and intrigued" when it becomes apparent that human children are not actually dangerous
the result of all this is that "laugh power is just as feasible, and in fact more efficient" develops the themes and characters rather than shutting them down. if the premise of the movie were simply that sully and mike are Niceys to begin with, you lose the allegory, you have to rewrite the plot from scratch, and the characters - imo - become considerably less interesting, because you're robbing them of the tension between "maybe what I'm doing is wrong" and "I would like to have Money to Eat, not cause a mass panic, and not get thrown in jail or killed or written off as a crank"
attitude is a major element here. monsters inc isn't out here implying that the concept of monsters engendering fear/pain in order to harvest it is stupid. undertale isn't a game where "you're in a dungeon but everyone is friendly;" a pacifist run is a conscious decision that you make with people firing bullets at you. this one's a Twitter example, but - something like lovely lady rpg or clam man 2 isn't starting from the absurd premise that harry dubois and the setting he's in are Generic and therefore Uninteresting, only to tear them out and replace them with nothing of substance.
lastly, and imo this is key:
a short tumblr post is ill-suited for exploring ideas in any real detail, which tends to make it more annoying, not less.
more specifically: these posts rarely dive into the actual narrative implications of anything they're proposing, instead favoring vague gestures at pithy but underdeveloped ideas. there's a difference between saying "what if Indiana Jones didn't go on adventures lol" and "what if a normal, realistic archaeologist still got drawn into a pulp adventure and had to get by in spite of being terrified and under-equipped to deal with the situation." the latter would be A Story that engages with the genre, not just a cheap gag.
in conclusion:
youtube
there's a fascinating type of post on this site which boils down to "what if, instead of being cliché, such-and-such work of fiction instead dodged all genre tropes in a way that instead made it really boring"

Between The Lines
Summary-> It's the little things that go on behind the scenes between you and Drew that makes your chemistry electric.
Belongs to my: OBX Season 5: Payback for Maybank Series
These can be read in any order!
"Park place." Maddison narrates where Drew lands his dog piece across the monopoly board. "I'll buy it." He says but your hand is in his face, "Not so fast. I'm sure you would love to buy it if I didn't already have a hotel on it. You owe me $1500. Pay up." You show him your open palm, ready for lots and lots of cash.
"He's so cooked. Look at that pathetic stack of cash Drew has. I've got piggy banks with more than that." Jonathan's comments send the four of you erupting into a fit of laughter which eventually dies down to a patient silence. "Sometime today would be great." Madison clears her throat.
"Josh is coming!" Drew points, appealing to our gullibility and youall fell for it. By the time you realized he was bluffing, the board was tossed and the pieces were all out of place. He gets up and runs off as if he already knew you'd be hot on his heels.
Your outburts left JD and Madison alone to pick up the pieces, but not without an interesting conversation. "50 bucks they're together by the time we finish the season." Madison says it so casually as she reaches underneath the couch for the pieces.
"So I'm not crazy? You see it too?" He looks almost relieved. "Trust me, I've got a knack for these things." JD seems skeptical about the timeline of the bet. "I dunno, we finish filming in four months. That might be too soon, I say by the premiere."
The both of them look up so Carlacia who seemed to have been streaming live on her istagram. She enters the room mumbling something about getting winded by you and Drew sprinting past her.
Madison scoffs, "That's like nine months from now. They could get together and break up by then, but you know what-- If that's what you wanna bet, then be my guest." She holds out her hand and JD shakes on it. "You're on."
"We're ready for you guys." One of the assistants notifys them that it was time to head to the screening room where the weekly table reads were held.
Today would be your first look at the script for the second episode, and to say you were shocked was an understatement.
Script Summary:
Eventually the pogues put their trust in Piper and she gives them a fair exchange of some arms that they can handle, while she opts for her weapon of choice, a steel pipe.
"How do you think I got the name and the scar?" She says and it puts an odd sense of comfort among the group, minus a skeptical Rafe, to know you were confident enough in your skills that you didn't need a gun.
They beleived they were in good hands, until they realized they weren't. There was movement coming from the bushes and it made the pogues stand on guard, beckoning them to come out. Soon, the figures finally revealed themsleves. More mercenaries.
"Nicely, done Piper. It seems you can still make yourself useful after all." The red-headed woman speaks up, tossing you a pouch of money that you caught with one hand effortlessly.
"Never doubt my capabilities, it's insulting." You warn, tucking the pouch into the bag strapped across your back. The british woman continues, "Y'know, Mr. Finch could use your talents again. Once we're done tying up loose ends, we're headed back to home base in Lisbon."
Rafe is livid. He knew he couldn't trust you. It couldn't be by pure coincidence that the mercenaries popped up in the middle of this oasis when you were leading. "Lisbon? You told us Finch was here-" Kiara exclaims and Rafe interrupts.
"It was all a lie, from the very beginning. Mr. Alami, the merchant from Agapenta, he was working with you, wasn't he? You knew he'd send us to you, and now you got your sad little payout from these dipshits for bringing us to them." Rafe seethes.
"I'll neither confirm nor deny that claim, love the enthusiasm though." Your attitude remains unbothered throughout the ordeal until Pope demands, "What do you want from us? We don't have the crown! Groff took it." The red head shrugs casually, sharpening her blades as she approaches the group.
"Don't you worry, Groff will get what's coming to him. For now, it's time to repay the debt that is owed. You get blood on your hands, I get blood on mine." Your eyes bulge, "Hang on, you never said you wanted to kill them." You step in and the woman pays you no mind.
"Perhaps because It's none of your concern. You've got your cut, now's a good time as ever to leave. It's about to get messy." She retracts her hand, about to plunge the blade into Pope when she's knocked out cold by a flying piece of steel.
The group looks over to you in shock, fear, and a hint of gratitude, but there's no time to gush about it when there's suddenly a brawl that breaks out between the mercenaries and the pogues.
You all hardly take them out before escaping.
"Piper, what the hell?!" John B yells and his anger is heavily agreed on in the group, you take it on the chin before offering the most sincere apology you could come up with. They're unconvinced. "I deserve that. Everything you heard back there is true. Finch's Fortress is in Lisbon. If you find him, you'll find Groff," You trail off, reaching into your bag, handing Cleo the pouch of money you'd just gotten.
"Take this. It's more than enough to get you a boat big enough to get across the atlantic and even have some leftover for food for a few days. When you arrive on the coast of Cascais, you'll need to head north in-land."
There's silence.
A long silence, nervous glances between the pogues and Rafe's eyes roll. "You guys cannot seriously be considering trusting her. She almost had us killed! Am I the only one who cares about making it back home?"
"Just shut up, Rafe!" John B silences him, and Pope speaks up. "Listen, I don't know about you guys but Piper just saved my life when she didn't have to. We've already lost someone. Going after Groff could be a suicide missison for all we know. But we all know this isn't about our safety, it's about revenge. For JJ." His speech is moving, the expressions agree.
"For JJ." They all agree.
"To Lisbon we go." Cleo chimes, and the group moves on.
End of Script*
You had just finished reading the script and you were blown away. The cast never knows what to expect whenevfer a new script is dropped in front of them.
"Wait a minute... If the pogues are going to Lisbon in the next episode then," Madison trails off and the director ties in, "So are we. Pack your bags, flights are booked for Saturday morning at 5am, please do not miss these flights, we're not opposed to writing you out!" Josh jokes and there's excited and shock all around the table.
You knew that the last season of the show had implied that the pogues would be on their way to Lisbon but it never dawned on you that it would be so soon, even though it made sense.
"You ever been to Portugal?" Drew leans in, a soft whisper in your ear tickled your skin and made the hairs on the back of your neck at attention. "Never, have you?" He thinks about it, "If a layover counts then yes, yes I have." You're not sure if the joke was funny or if it just left the mouth of an incredibly attractive man, nonetheless, it made you giggle.
Madison kicks JD from under the table, jutting her chin towards the two of you giggling in secret and he rolls his eyes. "Patience." He says it calmly, but Madison is impatient, she knows she'll reign triumphant by the end of it all.
-
Itâs a Friday nightâor, more accurately, the early hours of Saturday morning. The world outside your accommodations complex is still cloaked in sleep, and you should be too. But no. The responsibility of making your flight in two hours has ripped you from the warmth of your bed. Groggy but determined, you scrambled to gather your belongings, knowing you wouldnât be back.
After a last sweep of the room, you opened the door with a flicker of confidenceâonly to jump at the sight of a six-foot-two figure standing in your doorway.
âDrew! Oh my god, you scared me.â Your hand flew to your chest in a theatrical gesture, your pulse thrumming in your ears.
A small smile tugged at his lips, his eyes crinkling slightly. âSorry. Just wanted to make sure you were actually up. Everyone else already left. Thereâs one driver still waiting downstairs.â His voice was smooth, annoyingly easy to listen to this early in the morning. Too easy.
âYou sound oddly refreshed for 3 a.m.,â you quipped, your own voice still husky from sleep as you grabbed your suitcase.
âThatâs the beauty of insomnia.â He shrugged, gesturing to his temples with a finger like it was some kind of genius life hack. âYou canât wake up tired if you never really sleep.â
The elevator dinged open, and the two of you stepped inside. The silence that settled was heavy, charged with something you couldnât quite define. It hung there until you both spoke at once:
âSo where are youââ âHow did youââ
You broke into quiet laughter, and Drewâs mouth twitched with amusement. âYou first,â he said, giving you a slight nod.
âHow did you know I hadnât already left with the others?â you asked, tilting your head curiously. For a moment, something flickered across his faceâan emotion too quick to nameâbefore a light blush dusted his cheeks. He masked it with an easy tone.
âI did some askin' around,â he replied, the answer short and almost vague. It was just enough to spark your teasing instincts.
âAh,â you said with a smirk, âso you missed me?â
Instant regret settled within you. The elevator seemed too small, too still as Drew turned to look at you, his gaze steady and disarming. For a heartbeat, he didnât respond, and your cheeks grew warm under his stare.
âYou could say that,â he finally said, the ghost of a smirk curling the corner of his lips. His attention shifted to the elevator doors as they slid open, leaving you to wonder if youâd imagined the whole thing.
The ride to the airport was longer than expected thanks to roadwork that forced a detour. You should've been annoyed, but at some point, your head found its way to Drewâs shoulder, and your eyes fluttered shut. The fabric of his hoodie was soft against your temple, and his warmth lulled you into a half-dream state.
Drew didnât dare move. The weight of your head against him was almost too perfect, and he fought the sudden urge to reach for your hand resting on your lap. Instead, he focused on the ticking clock in the back of his mind and the quiet hum of the car.
When you arrived, he sprang into action. âCâmon, we donât have time to waste,â he murmured, grabbing your suitcase and his carry-on in one hand while ushering you toward the terminal with the other.
You barely had to lift a finger. Drew handled everythingâtickets, baggage check, even navigating customsâwith practiced efficiency, his jaw set and his movements quick. He wasnât just organized; he was determined.
âDo you always walk as fast as a drill sergeant?â you teased as you reached the gate, breathing a little easier now.
He shot you a look, his lips twitching. âI'm not a huge fan of being late,â was all he said. But the way his eyes lingered on yours for half a second longer than necessary told you there was more to it than that.
Finally, you made it to your seats in first class. You settled across the aisle from Madelyn, who flashed you a bright smile.
âI was starting to think you two wouldnât make it,â she teased, leaning toward you with a glint in her eye. There was an underlying subtext to her words but you were too tired to decipher it.
âDrew made sure that didnât happen,â you replied with a soft laugh. The words were simple, but they carried a warmth you couldnât quite suppress.
From behind your seat, Drew caught the sound of his name on your lips--and god did he love the way it sounds. He didnât know what youâd said, but it didnât matter. The fact that you were talking about him stirred something in his chest.
As the flight began, you glanced back once, meeting his gaze. He held it for a fraction of a moment before looking away, his expression unreadable.
And yet, for the rest of the flight, he couldnât stop thinking about you. Couldnât stop replaying the memory of the weight of your head on his shoulderâor wondering what it might feel like to hold your hand in his.

and they were roommates
pairings: tara x reader (g!p)
word count: 2717
warnings: smut 18+, masturbating, oral (r receiving), p in v, swearing
summary: tara is out running errands, sheâd be gone for hours- or so you thought
a/n: iâm working on multiple request atmâ wenclair x reader one and the radiohead song (iâm just listening and reading the song to get an idea atm) also thank you to the anon for requesting this and their kind words!
The dorm is quiet, unusually so, and itâs kind of nice. Tara had mentioned heading out for the dayâsomething about running errands and meeting up with Samâand while youâre used to the hum of her presence, the silence isnât unwelcome.
You glance around the shared space. Itâs small but cozy, a mix of her personality and yours crammed into every corner. Her side of the room is meticulously organizedâher books stacked neatly, her bed made with precision. In contrast, your side looks⊠well, lived-in. A pile of clothes rests precariously on your desk chair, and your bed is a haphazard mess of blankets and pillows.
You plop onto your bed, phone in hand, scrolling mindlessly through social media. Without Tara around, youâre left to your own devicesâliterally. You snort at a meme, sending it to her out of habit.
âThatâs stupid,â sheâd probably reply, but thereâd be a hint of fondness in it.
After a while, you glance at the clock. Noon. The day stretches ahead, and you find yourself feeling restless. You could clean up your side of the room, but⊠nah. Instead, you wander over to Taraâs desk.
Her books catch your eye firstâold classics mixed with crime thrillers and a few surprisingly heartfelt poetry collections. You pick one up, flipping through the pages idly. A note scribbled in the margin catches your attention, her handwriting sharp and deliberate: âThis makes no sense. Why didnât he just leave?â
You chuckle softly. Even in her annotations, Taraâs blunt honesty shines through.
Your gaze drifts to her bulletin board. Itâs a mix of pinned photos, ticket stubs, and little reminders. One of the pictures is of the two of you, taken on move-in day. Youâre grinning like an idiot, throwing up a peace sign, while sheâs glaring at the camera, her arms crossedâbut thereâs a subtle upturn to her lips that gives her away.
You flop onto your bed, the old springs creaking under your weight. The small TV in the corner flickers to life as you jab at the remote, the sound of canned laughter filling the room. It's some trashy reality show, but it's mindless and distractingâjust what you need right now.
As you settle in, your gaze drifts around the room. Tara's side is always so pristine, everything in its place. It's annoying how tidy she is. You, on the other hand... well, your side looks like a bomb went off in a thrift store.
You reach for the bag of chips on your nightstand, tearing it open with a loud rip. The salty scent mingles with the faint smell of Tara's lavender body spray, creating a strange but not unpleasant odor.
You munch away, eyes glued to the screen, as snippets of conversation from the show drift through your thoughts.
"I think I'm going to kill her," one of the contestants is saying, her voice dripping with fake sweetness.
You snort. Yeah, right. They're all too busy primping and preening to actually do anything. Unlike the Ghostface killers, they've got no balls.
You check the time again, just to be sure. Tara won't be back for at least a couple of hours. With the coast clear, a mischievous grin spreads across your face. Time to take advantage of the privacy.
You reach over to your bedside table, fishing around in the drawer until your fingers close around the cool, smooth bottle of lotion. You pop the cap open with practiced ease, squirting a generous amount into your palm. The slick, slightly cold sensation sends a shiver down your spine as you rub your hands together, warming the lotion.
With your other hand, you unlock your phone and pull up your favorite porn site. Your fingers fly over the screen as you type in your search, already feeling the familiar stirrings of arousal. A few taps later, and a video starts playing, the sounds of moaning and grunting filling the now-silent room.
You settle back against your pillow, one hand already slipping beneath the waistband of your sweatpants. Your cock is already half-hard, twitching in anticipation. You wrap your fingers around it, giving it a slow stroke as you watch the scene unfold on your screen.
You stroke your cock slowly, teasingly, savoring the building pleasure. Your other hand roams over your chest, pinching and tweaking a nipple through the thin fabric of your shirt. The dual sensations send sparks of electricity shooting through your body, making your hips buck up into your touch.
On screen, the actress lets out a particularly loud moan, and you match it with a groan of your own. Fuck, that's hot.
Just as you're getting into a rhythm, the door to your dorm swings open without warning. You freeze, your hand still wrapped around your throbbing cock, as Tara steps inside.
"Shit!" she exclaims, her eyes widening as she takes in the scene before her. You're sprawled on your bed, pants pulled down, phone in hand, and a sticky puddle of lube on your stomach.
Mortification floods through you, and you frantically try to cover yourself, grabbing a pillow and pressing it over your lap. Your face burns with embarrassment, and you can't meet Tara's gaze.
"I-I thought you said you'd be gone for hours!" you stammer, trying to come up with some excuse. But there's no hiding what you were doing.
Tara stands in the doorway, frozen in shock. Her eyes dart between your flushed face and the pillow. After a moment, she seems to shake herself out of her stupor.
Tara's eyes flick down to the pillow, then back up to your face. Her expression is unreadable, but there's a glint in her eye that makes your stomach flutter with nerves and excitement.
She steps further into the room, closing the door behind her with a soft click. The sound seems to echo in the tense silence.
"I didn't mean to interrupt," she says, her voice low and teasing. She saunters over to your bed, the mattress dipping under her weight as she sits on the edge.
Your breath hitches as she reaches out, her fingers brushing against the pillow in your lap. Slowly, she pulls it away, revealing your straining erection. You whimper at the sudden exposure, the cool air hitting your overheated skin.
Tara's gaze rakes over your cock, and you feel yourself grow even harder under her scrutiny. Her tongue darts out, wetting her lips, and your hips twitch involuntarily.
"Looks like you were in the middle of something," she purrs, her hand resting lightly on your thigh. Her touch is electric, sending shivers racing up your spine.
You swallow hard, your mouth suddenly dry. "I-I'm sorry, I didn't think you'd be back so soon," you manage to say, your voice coming out breathier than you intended.
Tara leans in closer, her breath ghosting over your ear. "Don't apologize," she whispers, her lips brushing against your skin. "I think I can help with that."
And then, before you can process what's happening, she's sliding down your body, her hands pushing your legs apart. You gasp as her mouth hovers over your cock, her hot breath fanning over the sensitive skin.
"Fuck, Tara," you groan, your fingers tangling in her hair as she takes you into her mouth. The wet heat of her tongue is almost too much to bear, and you buck your hips, desperate for more.
Tara hums around you, the vibrations sending jolts of pleasure through your body. She bobs her head, taking you deeper each time, her hand wrapping around the base of your cock.
Your head falls back against the pillows as Tara works her magic. Her mouth is a wonder, hot and wet and so damn perfect. You can feel every ridge and valley of her tongue as it glides along your shaft, tracing the veins and swirling around the head.
"Fuck, your mouth feels so good," you groan, your hips rocking up to meet her movements. Your fingers tighten in her hair, gently guiding her pace.
Tara hums in response, the vibrations sending shockwaves of pleasure through your body. She takes you deeper, her nose brushing against your pubic bone as she swallows around you.
The sight of her, head bobbing in your lap, lips stretched obscenely around your cock, is almost too much to handle. You feel yourself getting close, your balls tightening and your stomach muscles clenching.
"Tara, I'm gonna..." you warn, your voice strained and breathless.
But she doesn't pull away. Instead, she doubles down, her head moving faster, her hand pumping in tandem. She looks up at you through her lashes, her eyes dark with lust and something else, something intense and hungry.
It's too much. With a guttural groan, you explode in her mouth, your cock pulsing as you spill your seed down her throat. She swallows it all, not spilling a single drop, and continues to suck and lick until you're spent.
Finally, she releases you with a lewd pop, sitting back on her heels and wiping her mouth with the back of her hand. She looks immensely pleased with herself, a satisfied smirk on her kiss-swollen lips.
You collapse back onto the bed, your chest heaving as you try to catch your breath. Your whole body feels like jelly, boneless and sated.
"Holy shit," you breathe, running a hand through your sweat-dampened hair. "That was... wow."
Tara giggles, the sound low and sultry. She crawls up your body, straddling your hips and leaning down to capture your lips in a searing kiss.
You roll over, pinning Tara beneath you on the bed. She looks up at you, her eyes dark and hooded with desire. You capture her lips in another heated kiss, your tongue delving into her mouth to taste yourself on her tongue.
Your hands roam her body, slipping beneath the hem of her shirt to caress the smooth skin of her stomach. She arches into your touch, a soft moan escaping her lips.
Breaking the kiss, you sit up and pull her shirt over her head, tossing it carelessly aside. Your eyes drink in the sight of her, clad only in a lacy bra. You lean down, trailing open-mouthed kisses along the swell of her cleavage.
Tara's fingers thread through your hair, tugging gently as she holds you to her. "More," she breathes, her voice husky with need.
You oblige, reaching behind her to unclasp her bra. It falls away, freeing her breasts to your hungry gaze. You take a moment to admire them, full and perfect, before lowering your head to take one pebbled nipple into your mouth.
Tara gasps, her back arching off the bed. You lavish attention on her breast, sucking and nibbling until she's writhing beneath you. Your hand slides down her stomach, slipping beneath the waistband of her jeans.
"These need to go," you murmur against her skin, hooking your fingers in the denim and pulling it down her legs. She lifts her hips to help, kicking the jeans off and leaving her in just a pair of matching lace panties.
You sit back on your heels, taking in the sight of her laid out before you, flushed and wanting. Your cock twitches, already hardening again. You reach down to push your own pants fully off, kicking them away.
Tara's eyes widen as she takes in your naked form, her gaze zeroing in on your erection. "Fuck, you're so hot," she breathes, her hand reaching out to wrap around you.
You grind your cock against her, feeling the heat of her through the thin lace. Tara gasps, her hips lifting to meet yours, seeking more friction. The rough drag of your hard length against her clothed clit sends sparks of pleasure shooting through you both.
"Please," she whimpers, her fingers digging into your shoulders. "I need you inside me."
You don't make her wait any longer. Hooking your fingers in her panties, you yank them down her legs, tossing them aside carelessly. Tara spreads her legs wider, inviting you in.
You position yourself at her entrance, the head of your cock nudging against her slick folds. Tara's breath hitches, her eyes fluttering closed as you press forward.
You sink into her inch by delicious inch, groaning at the tight, wet heat enveloping you. Tara is so fucking perfect, her walls gripping you like a vice. You bottom out, your hips flush against hers, buried to the hilt inside her.
"Fuck, you feel so good," you pant, fighting the urge to just start pounding into her. Instead, you hold still, letting her adjust to the stretch.
Tara rolls her hips, urging you on. "Move," she demands, her nails raking down your back.
You don't need to be told twice. You start to thrust, setting a steady rhythm that has you both gasping and moaning. The room fills with the obscene sound of skin slapping against skin and the creaking of the bed.
Tara wraps her legs around your waist, using the leverage to meet your thrusts. Her tits bounce with every snap of your hips, and you lean down to capture a nipple in your mouth, sucking hard.
"Yes, just like that," Tara hisses, her head thrashing on the pillow. "Don't stop."
You have no intention of stopping. You fuck her hard and fast, chasing your pleasure and hers. The coil of heat in your belly winds tighter and tighter, signaling your impending release.
You can feel your orgasm building, your balls tightening and your thrusts becoming erratic. But you force yourself to slow down, to focus on Tara's pleasure instead of your own.
Tara's nails dig into your shoulders, her teeth sinking into your neck as she holds on for dear life. Her walls flutter around you, tightening and releasing in a rhythm that tells you she's close.
You redouble your efforts, angling your hips to hit that spot inside her that makes her see stars. Tara keens, her body tensing beneath you.
You reach between your bodies, finding her clit with your fingers. Tara bucks against your hand, her hips moving in frantic circles as you rub tight circles over the sensitive nub. You can feel her getting closer, her inner walls starting to flutter around your cock.
"Come on, baby," you urge, your voice low and rough. "Come for me."
Tara's body goes rigid, her back arching off the bed as her orgasm crashes over her. She cries out, her pussy clamping down on you like a vice as she comes undone.
The feeling of her coming around your cock is too much. With a guttural groan, you pull out, your hand flying over your shaft as you stroke yourself to completion. Your cum spurts out, painting Tara's stomach in thick, white ropes.
You collapse beside her, both of you panting and sweaty. Tara turns her head to look at you, a lazy, satisfied smile on her face.
"That was intense," she murmurs, reaching out to brush a sweat-dampened lock of hair from your forehead.
You grab some tissues from the box on your nightstand, quickly wiping the cum from Tara's stomach. She sighs contentedly as you clean her, her body still tingling from the aftershocks of her orgasm.
As you toss the used tissues aside, you can't help but let your gaze wander over her naked form. Tara is a vision, her skin flushed and glowing, her hair splayed out on the pillow like a halo. She looks thoroughly debauched, and the sight sends a fresh wave of desire coursing through you.
But then reality starts to set in. You just had sex with your roommate. Your best friend. What does this mean for your relationship? Will things be awkward now?
Tara seems to sense your thoughts. She sits up, pulling the sheet around her naked body. "Hey," she says softly, reaching out to cup your cheek. "We okay?"
You nod, not quite trusting yourself to speak. Tara smiles, leaning in to press a gentle kiss to your lips.
"Good," she murmurs against your mouth. "Because I want to do that again. Soon."
With that, she hops off the bed, completely unselfconscious in her nudity. She pads over to her closet, rummaging around for something to wear.
You watch her, your mind still reeling. What have you gotten yourself into?

Bring it
Demon x chubby fem!reader || dom/sub, dirty talk, praise kink, tail play, impact play (light)
You starting hanging out with demons was almost a surprise.
You worked at the monster bar as a bartender, so it made sense you started to know some of the clientele that was there every other day. Some of them were really friendly, and some of them were jackasses. Especially the demons.
The demons were usually stupid as fuck to everyone⊠everyone but you. You didnât know why, but the demons treated you so nicely you became their waitress even thought it wasnât your job. But none of the otherâs would take their orders because they were mean, and after watching the third person crying because of it, you had enough. You marched to their table and called them out, which made them laugh, but somehow, you became their favorite human.
Later, you would discover it was because of the leader, the big red demon that always stared at you across the bar as you talked with everyone. His eyes never left you as you moved around, and it felt nice⊠You felt seen and desired in a way that should have been creepy, but it wasnât. So little by little you became friends with them, and developed some kind of tension with the big red leader that had you pressing your thighs together more than once. He was hot as hell (pun intended) and you were a bit thirsty for demon cock. But who could blame you? But apparently he didnât feel the same. (Or so you thought.)
The bar is closing and you are cleaning the tables absently as he talks about something. Everyone already left, but he insisted on hanging around to accompany you home, which you find as charming as his smile full of pointy teeth.
You turn around to look at him, nodding along and laughing at him when you see his scrunched up nose and the look of disgust when you pick up a half eaten sandwich. He stares at your mouth, and then he quiets down and glares, not saying anything.
You stop laughing, worried you offended him in some way. âWhat?â You ask, confused by the sudden tension in the air.
âWhy do I feel like this?â He asks you, rubbing his chest as if itâs your fault he has some kind of ache.
You are even more confused after his response. âLike what?â
âLike my insides are going to be ripped apart if I donât get closer to you soon,â he explains, making your heart skip a beat. You know he realizes it skips a beat, because his eyes fixate on your chest when he keeps talking: âLike every breath I take is thanks to you. Like every twitch of my body is a response of you being alive,â his words make your heart beat skyrocket. Thereâs no way he means what you think he means. But then he breaks the bubble of blooming happiness. âItâs infuriating, I need to get it out of my system. Now.â
âWha- what does that mean?â You question as he approaches you fast, like you are his prey about to be devoured. You can feel your pussy tingling with that idea.
You walk backwards as he takes step after step getting closer to you. When the back of your thighs hits the edge of a table, you know you canât run anymore. His eyes are burning with something unknown and you can feel your juices soaking through your panties.
You round the table, getting away from him just in time. âCome here,â he orders, an edge of danger in his voice. You shake your head, playing with him. âCome here little morsel, you wouldnât like what would happen if I have to go to you.â
âYou wouldnât hurt me,â you tell him trusting totally on your words. He would never.
And you are enjoying way too much driving him a little bit insane, giving him one taste of the way youâve felt since you started to know him, since you realized he might be a demon but he was the best monster youâve ever known. You arenât ready to use the L word, but maybe⊠maybe you already felt it.
He sighs, and agrees. âI wouldnât. But pain is not the only way to make you submit to me,â he teases. You whine low in your throat, making him stop in his tracks as he stares at you like you just grew a second head.
âBring it.â You smirk at him, your brain going a thousand miles per minute was your brain pictures all the monster romance stories youâve read over the years. You are so ready to be devoured by a demon⊠so, so ready.
Suddenly, heâs moving faster than your eyes can process. He grabs you by the hair, your neck pulled back almost uncomfortably as he launches to suck a mark on your neck. You squirm against him, your hands grabbing his hair with equal force as you whimper. Heâs biting and licking the soft spot under your ear that makes you see stars and your knees start to feel like jelly. Fuck. He drives you crazy.
âAre you going to be good for me, honey?â He whispers against your ear, his tail wrapping around your middle and making you shiver. His hands are everywhere, your body is pliant under his traveling fingers as you whine at him, unable to form words to answer. âOf course you are, you are so good to me,â he purrs and you blush. You donât know why, but hearing his praises is doing it for you big time.
He grabs your ass with both hands and sits you over a table, squeezing your soft hips as he does so. Heâs groping you everywhere he can and itâs driving you slowly insane. Youâve never felt arousal like that, itâs like burning inside of you and you know heâs the only one who can put out that fire.
âI need you, please,â you beg.
âYou beg so beautifully, such a good human for me.â His words are making your head fuzzy, the desire so high you can only think about his dick inside of you. ASAP.
He rips your clothes off your body, leaving you naked in the middle of the bar. That shouldnât make you as hot as it does, but you are desperate for him. His hands are frantically touching every centimeter exposed until you are screaming his name and begging for him to keep going, to touch you where you want him most, but he does nothing like that.
He opens your legs wide and stares at your pussy. You try to close your legs, embarrassed, but he only chuckles, his tail coming around him and landing a slap against your open center. You scream his name again, this time full of fire and pent up sexual frustration. He laughs and does it again. And again. And again. Youâve never been so turned on.
âAre you going to take my tail like a good human fleshlight?â You whine. âIs that a yes, my little morsel?â He teases and you groan, unable to form words. âI will let you act like this just once because itâs our first time. But next time Iâll make you say it out loud, are we clear?â You nod vehemently, making grabby hands at him and making him laugh.
You feel the tip of his pointy tail at the same time you feel a gush of juices coming out of you. You are almost embarrassed of the sounds your pussy makes when he starts to enter you slowly. You are so wet you can feel it traveling down your ass, forming a pool under you as he fucks you shallowly. His tail is entering you enough to touch your G-spot but not enough to stimulate it. You donât know who you are anymore, you can only focus on that pointy appendage playing with your aching core.
âPlease, please, pleaseâŠâ You chant as he chuckles, his face buried in your neck as he kisses your throat softly.
âWhat do you need? Do you want my cock?â You nod, grabbing his hair and pulling him back so heâs looking at your eyes. His pupils are blown wide and heâs mirroring your desperation. âOkay, Iâve tortured you enough⊠for now.â
The last words send a shiver running down your spine and you moan his name softly, making him smile at you openly, his fangs on full display. Heâs so fucking handsome you canât control yourself from moving your hips and fucking you against his tail still in you. He pulls back his tail and you cry out, begging over and over for more, and he gives it to you.
You feel the tip of his cock against your entrance, your pussy quivering at the first intrusion. Heâs so big and wide you can barely fit him inside, but when he passes the first tight muscle you both groan in unison. You wrap your legs around his middle and press your heels on his ass, urging him to go deeper, faster, harder. And he complies, his whole body surrendering to the pleasure as he tells you how tight you are, how warm and wet and perfect.
Itâs exhilarating to have a demon so desperate for you that he canât stop telling you how good you are, and itâs driving you completely insane. And when your orgasm hits and you start convulsing against him, he growls and fucks you harder. The frantic pace drives you higher and higher, a train of orgasms hitting your body until you are exhausted and canât hold your legs or arms around him anymore. But he keeps going, fucking you like a flashlight.
By the time he comes inside of you and his hot seed fills your insides, you are nothing more but a limp body against him, his hands around you as he thrusts a couple more times and a big smile on your lips. Youâve never felt so satisfied in your life, and you have enough energy to tell him that. He chuckles.
And then you pass out.
