One minute he’s ‘sunning’ himself under a nice heat lamp, getting all warm and toasty which made him a little sleepy; the next thing he knows, he’s been kidnapped. Yun let out deep growls to show he wasn’t happy with this situation either and tried to wriggle out of the confinement of what was holding him. When that didn’t work, he looked up at Caius.

Ya mind getting me out of this? That was the expression he hoped came across.

A 2-player game.

You need 1 6-sided die for each player and something to take notes. Flip a coin to decide who goes first.

One of you is a HUMAN and one is a CAT. The CAT needs attention now! The HUMAN is trying to complete 3 simple tasks while ignoring their spoiled cat. (I.E. make coffee, get dressed, etc)

Describe yourselves any way you like.

CAT Skills:

YELL - meow

TEMPT - rubbing against legs, purring etc

BITE - when all else fails

HUMAN Skills:

IGNORE - huh?

REASON - explain when you can cuddle

PET - try to appease

Assign 5 points across these skills.

Describe the tasks the HUMAN sets. The CAT will try to distract them.

Each task, choose a skill and both roll 1 die. A skill cannot be used twice in a row. If the skill is higher than their opponent, they can add a +1 to the roll. The highest number narrates how they succeed at task/distraction. The greater the difference, the greater the point total.

Switch roles and repeat. Whoever has the highest points at the agreed upon end wins. Everyone has to be each role at least once.

Tumblr 200-Word RPGs 2023

Last November, we did an informal game jam for folks who wanted to write something for Writing Month, but would prefer to write fewer than fifty thousand words of it. You can find the complete list of participants for that event in this post here. There's also an off-Tumblr archive of entries whose authors gave permission for them to be preserved here, if any of those links turn out to be broken.

Last year's collaboration went over well enough that I thought we might dust it off again this year. To be clear, this is just for fun – it's not a curated jam, and nobody's judging winners or handing out prizes..

If you'd like to throw your hat in, just follow these steps:

Step 1: If you're unfamiliar with 200-word RPGs, read a bunch of last year's entries (linked above) or browse the 200 Word RPG Challege archives at https://200wordrpg.github.io/ to get your brain-meats properly configured.

Step 2: Write your own 200-word RPG. If you're not sure whether you have 200 words or not (and with RPGs it can genuinely be difficult to tell!), you can use the word counter at https://200wordrpg.github.io/wordcount to check.

Step 3: Reblog this post and append your 200-word RPG.

Step 4 (optional): Please indicate in your post whether you're okay with having your 200-word RPG archived off-site for posterity – if you don't say anything one way or the other, I'll assume the answer is "no".

Summoning the ghost king is not a difficult feat. Getting him to stay is the hard part. As soon as he appeared he pushed past the members of the league.

"Don't talk to me, where are the little heros?" He said searching for them.

You see a few months ago Damian and Jon has accidentally summoned Phantom to this dimension. Doing so has gotten the ghost interested in this dimension. Unfortunately, the ghost's favor is exclusive to the young heros and he refused to answer to almost every adult except for Constantine.

"They are at school." Batman said as the ghost wrinkled his nose in response.

"Then why am I here?" He said turning back to the portal he came from.

"Wait, we need your help!" Superman said moving to stop him

"Ughghaaaaaa!" Phantom groaned slumping like he was told he had to do his chores after sitting down.

Truth be told Phantom was a bit of a brat. He wanted to have fun after escaping Clockwork's constant nagging and duties. Playing with the little heroes was fun but the adults are soooo boring.

They didn't even bring the sad man in the trenchcoat to play with.
