on my Slayer Durge file, I was really in the RP zone and waited to reveal Slayer form to everyone until my Durge got to the Mindflayer Colony. She had just found the Letter of Forgiveness, was grappling with the familiarity of the brushstrokes, and then met Kressa and realized the first memory she ever had was of Kress's operating table.

my Durge couldn't hold back slayer form and suddenly the party was having to deal with the colony AND the fact that their leader was clearly hiding some pretty big fucking secrets from everyone.

and it was so fucking good. my slayer durge is kind of weak (bc of user error, from not optimizing, but i'm rolling with it), so being told by Astarion after that she wasn't strong enough on her own to make him feel safe. He soloed Myrkul, so imagine doing this horrible horrible thing, getting the power from it, and having the person you got that gift for telling you that your strength isn't enough.

the rp reasons for ascending astarion while still trying to resist ended up just writing themselves on that file tbh
