Okay lore time:

This is sort of a combination between the cw flash show and the comics because my friend only knows the cw show

Iris, Barry and Hal all work under the same spy agency (i guess its a version of the justice league but i think i need a diff name for it).

Barry "flash" allen is an agent well known for his agility and efficiency, and yk he loves a plan!

Specialty is cryptography and tracking people down (forensics background)

Picked up some code and info gathering from iris. B + I work really well together because they understand each other's fields and also are BFFs (yay!)

I like to think hed be interested by new technologies and gadgets because hes a nerd

Not a very good liar, Iris has tried to teach him her tricks and he has. sort of improved?

Iris "dutch" west is like the woman in the chair. (I named her dutch becuz of the dutch iris flower, its very pretty you should look it up).

She's known for digging up information and learns a lot abt the clients/targets/whatever so that her agents are best prepared (barry loves this). S

Works behind the scenes during operations to make sure everything goes smoothly

Very good at manipulation and getting things out of people.

Wanted to be a field operative but Joe wouldn't let her (its apparently dangerous or something...🙄). She does occasionally go on little unofficial missions that only barry knows about because a girls gotta have her fun!!!

Joe is some sort of supervisor for the agency btw. 👍

Hal "highball" jordan!!! Hal is overall a very skilled agent. He's a creative and unpredictable fighter, plus he's able to think quickly on his feet.

He really enjoys the risk of the job and sometimes gets a bit too into it which can cause some erm. predicaments. But hey! quick thinking!

His impulsiveness has put many of his partners in danger due to their inability to keep up with him.

Charismatic (rizz!!), helps him on missions that require a little people shmoozing.

Many people underestimate his actual ability and think he has gotten to where he is by nepotism/sleeping his way up but hes a very hard and ambitious worker

side note: Carol ferris is a higher up and after she and Hal broke up she sent him on really dangerous jobs out of spite. "haha yup almost died. shes so funny <3"

Barry sort of gets paired with hal as damage control and is NOT very happy about it because he thinks hal is incredibly annoying and impulsive. Hal is also not very happy about it because he thinks Barry is uptight and a goody-two-shoes. They are both not wrong!!

Because of Joe and Barry propaganda, Iris doesn't really like Hal at first but likes teasing Barry about working with him. Eventually hal wins her over

Barry can be a bit of a control freak in terms of sticking to the plan so working with hal forces him to loosen up and become more adaptable. I think Hal learns to appreciate Barry for his skill and respects his work ethic. He really trusts Barry and eventually goes along with his plans (even if he knows they won't go perfectly, but thats what improv is for). I think as they work together they build a really strong trust between them like 'Ik u wont let me die! thanks a lot xoxo'. imagine them gayly and clichely driving away from a mission in a cool convertible with the radio on. yeahhh!

I've talked before about queer representation in Helluva Boss and Hazbin Hotel, but there are some points I wanted to add, that I haven't really mentioned previously. These are just some things I noticed, that make the LGBTQIA+ representation more shallow than before. Especially after the pride artwork came out for Helluva Boss. (Just my opinion, if you feel represented by these shows, great, all the more power to you)

1. As far as the audience is aware, there are almost no characters that have secondary identities. The only exceptions are Sally Mae (who is Trans and Lesbian) and Alastor (who is Aromantic and Asexual). Everyone else either has one sexuality (Gay, Pansexual, Bisexual etc.) or very rarely is simply Asexual. This kinda fits to more heteronormative thinking, that a person is either one thing or the other. There are no other characters that are genderqueer and have a sexual identity, no characters that are Ace/Aro and have another identity. This also leads into my second point.

(Quick correction, someone pointed out to me, that Alastor is canonically actually only Asexual, not Aro. I lost the question however, so I'll just add that here. That means that Sally Mae is actually the only character with a secondary identity and that there is not a single Aro character in either show. So not an improvement at all really.)

2. There are almost no characters who are genderqueer. Sally Mae as the exception again and some background imps I guess. Sally Mae is the only real character however, in both shows at that (and she just barely passes as a character). No Genderfluid, Genderqueer, Non-binary, Intersex, Bigender, Agender, Pangender, Demigirl/boy character or anything like that. I'm not saying all of these should be represented in the main cast or something, but there is no effort at all to include them in any way. Not even in the pride artwork that has a bunch of background imps present. I'm actually kinda confused by one thing. I remember that when the Hazbin pilot first came out, Angel Dust was mostly considered to be pangender or at least also use female pronouns too. I'm not sure if that's something that was changed over time or if I'm just remembering stuff wrong, however it would be kinda disappointing if they erased that part of his character to make him more appealing to general viewers. The trans umbrella is such an important part of the queer community, it's really bothering me that there is not a single (atleast slightly) relevant character in either HB or HH (that isn't Sally Mae).

3. The lack of Sapphic representation is so annoying. Before any of you start to point at Chaggie immediately, I recognise them as a sapphic couple and actually started to quite enjoy them in the past time. That's mostly just my headcannon version of them though. In the actual show they are really undermined and don't have nearly enough content to be considered a stand out pair or the main relationship. I'm actually really excited for the next season, since it has been revealed that they will have a smexy song and some more romantic content. But now onto the rest of queer women in these shows. Martha and Mayberry don't really count to me. They were pretty much just fanservice and only appeared as a couple in one quick scene. Apart from those two examples (one example if you don't consider the minimal presence of Martha and Mayberry). Most of the queer women in the show aren't allowed to be in relationships with other women. Either they are with a man (which of course isn't wrong in theory) or just single. Barbie Wire, Verosika, Sally Mae, Beelzebub and Loona are all confirmed to be queer, but none of them have a girlfriend/partner. When comparing this to the queer male characters that are present in these shows, these almost always have a relationship or end up in one. Also Vaggie and Sally Mae are the only Lesbians and that's just kinda embarrassing. None of these women even get to show affection towards other women. The closest we get (if I remember correctly) is Millie calling Verosika hot or something and Millie is literally the only main cast character that was confirmed to be straight by the pride artwork. As a queer woman I just wish there was more representation for us. This topic is also heavily tied into some of the underlying sexism present in the shows, but that's a topic for another day.

4. A lot of the queer/kink/fetish scene is used as shock humor rather than genuine representation. It's often something to laugh at or be shocked by, because hell is just so raunchy and crazy and wild or something. The episode Ozzie's is a good example for that. Millie and Moxxie go to a sex club in the lust ring that is owned by the one and only ruling sex demon in all of hell. Yet they are put off by the people there wanting them to be lustful and Ozzie and his staff are presented as deviants, who also bully the main couples in the show. It's good that in the end these sex crazed deviants are defeated through a song of real love. In Hazbin Hotel this is a lot more prevalent too, with Charlie almost always being uncomfortable around anything sexual. Her and Vaggie have a really chaste relationship too. They don't make out or even really cuddle (I'm aware that this will change in season two if the leaked information holds up). If I recall correctly, any sexual scene in the first season is either to make the audience see how perverted and unconventional the inhabitants of hell are (like the club scene where Sir Pentious is literally assaulted) or to show Angel Dust being abused. It is rarely ever a positive thing.

5. Maybe I should change that statement though, because it can be a positive thing, but only for couples that are monogamous and fit more heteronormative ideals. I know this point will maybe be a little complicated to make because there is no problem of course with queer relationships that fit a more traditional view of a relationship. There are a bunch of couples in real life where one person is more effeminate and another more masculine, that also have clearer roles (like with HuskerDust, Stolitz, Moxxie/Chaz, Fizz/Asmodeus). But I feel like what I mean can be best illustrated by the fact that firstly, pretty much every couple that is happy is either married/working towards getting married and also strictly monogamous. I'm thinking of Asmodeus and Fizzarolli, who just make no sense to be a monogamous couple. Asmodeus is the literal sin of lust and you expect me to believe he isn't polyamorous or that they have an open relationship at least. But that is never mentioned and in the pride artwork there is no polyamorous flag to be seen, even though it would only make sense with them. And secondly, just have a look at two background characters. Josh and Ace, who started off as a part of Verosika's Gang of succubi and later on would be confirmed to have gotten married. If you don't get what I'm saying with the show catering to more heteronormative ideals, just look at how these two were drawn before they became a married couple:

The change in height, frame and facial features for one of them (don't know who's who tbh) is astounding.

That's all I had to say for now. There's a lot I could add to these points, but I wanted to keep it shorter for now, especially with Tumblr's word limit. I will probably also upload an edit of the pride artwork with my personal headcannons sometime, I just haven't gotten around to finishing it.

as a trans person, im pretty baffled by how hh/hb are called good shows queer representation-wise when gender is barely explored at ALL. the only trans character in both shows (afaik) is millies sister whose name i already forgot and who appears in one episode for 5-10 seconds and then in another short that vivz didn't even write. but gender-wise, all the characters are either male or female, which puzzles me so much because there are so many different species in this version of hell (imps, hellhounds, etc) and you're telling me ALL of them are binary and (seemingly) reproduce sexually??? that's not queer, as well as not creative at all

Hazbin and Helluva's queer representation is actually like. Really fucking bad. We have...

Chaz (Bi), a one-dimensional asshole who constantly makes unfunny sex jokes who abandoned Moxxie, his boyfriend, and st. boyfriend went on to date & marry a women (not a great look)

Chaggie (Sapphic), an boring ass and underdeveloped reletionship where one of them purely revolves around the other with no development beyond that. Also the reletionship is severly co-dependant.

Stolas (Gay), a horny asshole who forces someone into having sex with him for his own pleasure, cheated on his wife & frequently neglects his daughter, yet the narrative constantly UwUifs and coddles him for his mistakes.

Stolitz (Gay), a horrendously poorly written & toxic reletionship that the show constantly pretends isn't toxic.

Vaggie (Gay), a character with little to no real depth beyond their reletionship with her girlfriend.

Valentino (Pan), another one-dimensional asshole who SA's Angel Dust.

Pentious (Bi), frequently used as a punching bag in the show (like being SA'd in episode 6 and it's played for laughs) and he was confirmed to be bisexual in a live stream.

Travis (Bi), a very minor character that gets 0.5 seconds of screen time. Also was confirmed to BI in an AMA.

Vox x Valentino (Gay), a reletionship between two antagonists that is also shown to be heavily over-sexualized

Burnie Bunz (Gay), a minor character who is an obsessive stalker who gets killed off in the episode he's introduced in.

Sallie May (Trans), gender was confirmed on twitter and she's a minor character with very little screen-time.

Charlie (Bi), a pretty poorly written protagonist with little development or growth.

Apple and Coco (Gay), side characters with litteraly 0 lines and the only way to even tell if their dating is by going on the model sheets.

Vox (Pan), extremely hypersexual when it comes to his reletionship with Valentino.

Alastor (Aroace), his sexuality was also confirmed in a live-stream and it gets only one small mention in the show.

Moxxie (Bi), frequently used as a punching bag within the show and goes through the same repeated arc.

Litteraly the only decent LGBT characters are Blitz, Angel Dust, Husk, Ozzie and Fizz. Aside from those six, everything else is straight trash in terms of representation lmao.

Saturday question: when playing games with PC customisation, do you play as your own gender or orientation? Bonus question: why/why not?

I honestly play as cis female (I am), but I have various “thoughts” a few times of year and have played as AFAB non-binary sometimes to explore the idea. I was privately considering myself as Demi-feminine for a brief time because I do love my femininity, but at the same time, I have some changing dynamics that I’m trying to work out.

As for the LIs, I have my character playing as bisexual/male leaning, but truthfully they may be pan. When playing NO, my character romanced M!Tomi and NB!Pascha. In HB, my character romanced literally almost every person, but M!Varenn and F!Fiore were the top, with randomized Savarel on occasion. IRL I am now (once again, privately) identifying as lesbian/gynosexual, but with fluctuating male attraction.

All of this to say, I appreciate being able to play so many different ways because I think I’ve been living comphet so long that I’m allowing myself to explore my orientations without irl issues.

Something that always irked me a little was seeing fans say HB/HH have good queer rep. There’s been other adult/children animated shows that done it better. I think the reason fans say that it has good queer rep is it because they get to see the characters have sex, instead of characters having actual chemistry and good interactions.

No one in HB or HH had good chemistry. Charlie and Vaggie are just nonexistent or they should’ve been a slow burn from friends to lovers and blitz and stolas is the worst mlm ship because they don’t have anything they just have sex, they’re just meaning less sex that have to be a couple.

Husk is an asshole to Angel, he just shits on sex work and guilt trips Angel so he doesn’t take drugs but because Cherri is meant to be seen as the negative influence we’re suppose to take husk side and say no to drugs.

I don’t even consider fizz and Ozzie a relationship because they’re just sugaring, but fizz has a unhealthy codependency on Ozzie who kinda goes along because he gets to have sex with fizz and that too to me sounds like the spirit of lust. Doing immoral actions for you’re own selfish wants and desires. If fizz and Ozzie was rewritten and in the hands of a better writer this could’ve been a thrilling toxic story about a powerful prince of lust manipulating his insecure vulnerable lower class imp plaything and hundreds like him, in the spirit of lust

One of my unpopular opinions is that Elemental had the best examples of queer representation in Ember and Wade. And I am aware Ember and Wade are cis gendered and in a heterosexual dynamic. My point being that representation does not always have to be explicit to be profound or accurate. The movie gives Wade an unconventional form of masculinity that validates a nurturing expression that is stereotyped as inherently queer. Additionally, Ember's lack of identity due to the expectations of her family, father, and culture mirrors the existence of many queer individuals who fail to recognize they are bisexual or even gay due to the implicit pressure placed on them to fulfill the typical roles of their society.

Many people take the story in face value, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with seeing it as a story solely based on race, discrimination, the complexities of coexistence, and interracial love.

However, representation does not have to be explicit. There is absolutely plenty to be argued that by having an openly queer relationship moves to normalize the concept socially, but the unfortunate reality exists that (1) queerness is still inherently othering and you will not be able to normalize the existence of queer people just by shoving them front and centre. If anything, it is interpreted as a threat to the dominating social norm that causes people to reject the concept outright compared to subliminally connecting the ideas and experience of queerness to a more universal norm, building on tools and experiences to help others relate to our existence despite them never being able to truly live it.

And (2) movie-making and media is a business. A very expensive one. So risking hundreds of millions of dollars on explicit queerness that is still extremely fringe in most societies is, frankly, bad business.

The issues in representation for HH and HB comes down to what you said here: weak chemistry and toxic dynamics. These aren't good representations, not because they have these problems, but because these problems are overtly ignored or seen as not issues at all. There are a ton of harmful stereotypes that work in our society to keep queerness from being seen as normal or valid.

"Lesbians aren't real because how can two women ever love each other the way a man can love a woman and vice versa."

"Gay men just think about sex all the time. There is no love in their relationships."

"Bi/Pansexual will just have sex with anything."

"Sex is the highest form of romance and so any deviation from the strictly acceptable expressions of sexuality in society is a threat to love and relationships as a whole."

"Queer people are the result of brain damage through drug abuse."

"Queer people are the result of childhood trauma and/or sexual abuse."

"Who's the woman/wears the pants in the relationship?"

All of these statements are real social perceptions and stereotypes of the queer community which Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss directly contribute to. The narrative and characters adhere to every single one of these ideas at some point or another without ever challenging them and oftentimes reinforces them.

I understand and respect people who don't see Elemental as queer representation just because the characters do conform superficially to heteronormative standards. But just making a character gay doesn't make the story or series queer representation, and these shows definitely don't have good representation.

Moxxie, Charlie, Blitz and Pentious are a good example.

Charlie is neglectful of her GF, she does what she wants and Vaggie tries to do what she can to give that to her (That's a pretty boring relationship where one gives and the other takes without giving back). And they've said they've been together a lot longer than Millie and Moxxie soooo what the hell?? Why do they act more like acquaintances? "Oh because they've been together longer--" ???? Moxxie is CONSTANTLY abused by Blitz but Millie either ignores it or makes a dumb pouty face, Verosika and her buddies started harassing him and neither Blitz or Millie tried to help him. The only time Millie does anything to help was when she found out her EX BF used to date her husband before they met. Sometimes Millie and Moxxie are cute but other times I really can't help but question whether or not they should be together.

Pentious is in love with Cherri who's not even interested in him and when he's getting pulled away neither her or Anthony do anything to help him. He's nervous around Cherri but he didn't seem to mind going back to Anthony's room after??

I don't know whether to add Vox to this or not, I just think the reason why he doesn't flirt with other women or men is because he's terrified to do that because of Val. Val acts like he owns him and Anthony so I wouldn't be surprised if that was the case. They're not even dating supposedly but he's not with Anthony either.

I don't know, I could be wrong about these but it's just weird to me how each bisexual character gets treated poorly or treats someone that's the same gender as them more poorly than the other.

I wanna talk about the pride artwork for HB, because like a lot of other people I have some thoughts.

Firstly, positives:

It overall looks pretty good imo. The colours are bright and the picture has nice energy. I don't mind the HB/HH artstyle in general, it's mostly the designs that are the problem (the designs in HB are better than in HH). It is very cluttered, but I sorta learned to deal with that and I don't mind as much here.

Millie being there for Moxxie is cute and she looks amazing.

The outfits for some of the characters look good.

Sallie May being a Lesbian is nice (idk why, it just is).

Verosika looks great and very pretty (as always).

I like the idea of Loona taking Octavia to her first Pride parade. I like the idea of them hanging out in general and I want to see more of that.

Beelzebub looks cute.

I like the face Barbie makes (idk either).

Now onto the things I don't like:

Some of these sexualities seem kinda like they were just made up on the spot. Loona being Bisexual is nice, but she literally only ever showed interest in guys and there was never anything that could lead us to assume that she's Bi. The same thing goes for Mammon or Andrealphus. For Andrealphus it seems like they just made him gay to excuse the weird comments he makes about his Sister and especially since a lot of people started using their weird relationship to imply that Stella has some problems as well and isn't just a heartless bitch. Now they can basically just say: "Andrealphus isn't weird towards Stella, he is literally gay, why would he harrass her". I don't mind as much with characters like Bee or Barbie, because they only showed up once and it would've been pretty difficult to confirm their sexualities.

A lot of people mentioned Mammon being Ace just seems like an excuse to not put him in sexual merchandise or something. He is the only fat character in HB (who is actually relevant) and he is one of the two ace characters. It feels sorta disingenuous when the only two ace characters are a teen and the single fat character you have. Especially since, if I remember correctly there were a lot of people (including me) who found Mammon attractive and were looking forward to more sex-positivity for plus sized folks, especially when in Vivzepops shows theres only him and Mimzy (Adam as well maybe).

Why do a lot of the pansexual demons in this show feel stereotypical. Bee and Asmodeus are fine, the background demons as well I guess. Blitzø is super horny all the time and could fill a whole party just with people he slept with. Verosika and her followers are succubi who we saw sexually assault Moxxie. Barbie Wire manipulated a teenage/barely legal human to do what she wants by using her body. And Chaz is a literal and very open sexual harrasser/abuser. The only joke he has are making unwanted sexual remarks toward Moxxie and being horny. He has a sign that says: "I will fuck anything", which isn't what pansexuality is and the wording makes it really weird ("anything" not "anybody"). And he looks at Andrealphus weirdly. Him and Blitzø are also naked for no reason.

I would've loved to see some nonbinary/genderfluid/genderqueer characters. We don't have one confirmed genderqueer character. How about nonbinary Octavia or Vasago. Or genderfluid Moxxie. Or bigender Barbie or something. I just wished we had anything like that. Also a personal headcannon of mine, but Asmodeus should probably be Polyamorous. He is the incarnation of Lust and with how they wrote him in the show it's kinda hard to believe/doesn't make sense that he is in a monogamous relationship.

Where are Mayberry and Martha? They were confirmed to be sapphic and so far they're the only sapphic characters in an actually sapphic relationship we see in HB. Why does Wally get to be there but they aren't? Why is Vasago there instead of them, when he hasn't even showed up in an episode yet? Why is Vasago there in general? It's not like i'm gonna be happy with him being confirmed to be gay because there is nothing we know about him yet.

Why is Tex not there? Did they just forget him? He might be straight but he could still be there to support his girlfriend and isn't he literally Verosikas bodyguard. He was at the weird Blitzø hate party with her, but not here?

Isn't Chaz dead?

Why would Asmodeus and Fizz go to the same parade as Mammon, when the only episode with Mammon so far has dealt with how much he hurts Fizz.

You might say: "This isn't supposed to make sense, it's just a more interesting way to confirm characters' sexuality for pride month, so it doesn't have to make canon/logical sense". Which I would agree with, if they didn't excuse Stella and Striker (two pretty important characters) not being there by saying something along the lines of: "Do you really think they would attend a pride parade?". Maybe not, but I also don't think Chaz would attend a parade, being dead and all. I also don't think that Barbie would go out of her way to go to hell, just to attend a pride parade, especially since her brother is there too. I also don't think Andrealphus would go out of his way to go to a parade filled with imps and people he doesn't like. I also don't think Mammon would be there because it's nothing that brings him money or something. Stella might be straight and that's the reason she isn't here. But her brother (who she seemingly likes and confines in) is there and she could go to support him and her being straight isn't even confirmed, so she could very well be queer. And isn't Striker queer as well? Im sorta confused with that, because they try to make him a bigot (probably also homophobic), but the scene he has with Blitzø in "Harvest moon festival" seems very queer. His offense at sexual remarks could also imply that he is a very sex-repulsed asexual or Demisexual or something. Unless of course they want to use the fact that he doesn't like sexual remark from men as a way to make him seem homophobic (even though him reacting bad to unwanted sexual remarks doesn't mean he's bigoted, like that's well within his rights to be uncomfortable). It's not as if Viv shows restraint with making villians/antagonists queer in general. Mammon, Chaz, Andrealphus are all antagonists in HB and are also there. In HH they literally went out of their way to confirm Vox being in a relationship with Valentino, a rapist. It seems like being Straight/Bigoted/too much of an asshole to show up only applies to the characters who actively dislike Stolas and to the only main female antagonist.

I haven't had the motivation to draw THIS much for ages. The Supernatural fandom is nice and all but Helluva Boss and Hazbin has given me so many new ideas and characters to enjoy.

I could pull out an 6 hour power point presentation, out of my sleeve, about Dean Winchester and his deep rooted issues. I have been there when media queer baited a fandom to it's death. I've sold my kidney to meet these guys and it's still exiting but I'm in this for 17 years now.

17 whole years of fandom. Going crazy about the slightest hints and all.

And then Blitzø appeared on my screen, because we just watched Hazbin the day before and YouTube algorithm catched me and I WAS SOLD.

Everything about this series and it's lore and verse and relationships is FUN. I don't have to imagine things because THEY'RE ACTUALLY HAPPENING.

Yes, the show has problems too but they talk so openly about things I've wanted to hear for years. The main character of the show is a crazy bisexual (pansexual?), they don't talk around it, it's just a FACT.

Look I've seen Jensen Ackles bending his o shaped legs in weird directions to declare Dean Winchester nothing but a ladies man.
