I was checking out the AQI (Air Quality Index) for places around the world and one had me do a double take.

A monitoring station at Burari Crossing, New Delhi currently has a reading of 1739.

For comparison: Istanbul's AQI is 61, Kyiv's is 57, Nairobi's is 55, Lima's is also 55, Seoul's is 50, London's is 44, NYC's is 40, and Vancouver's is 15.

An AQI of 1739 for 24 hours is the equivalent of smoking 83.61 cigarettes.

Zuko is stunned as Katara smooches him, finally given the push to do so by TenTen - who is insufferable but oh so cute. (He did the thing small children do, and was overly honest. "Are you going to kiss him now? It looks like he wants you to!". Spitfire then tries to run away but Zuko holds onto the back of his tunic. After all, Ten Ten caused this. Now he has to deal with the oogies he caused. (Not that Zuko is complaining.)

The oogies are the fruit of Ten Ten's work. Don't know what he's complaining about 🙂‍↕️

Fire Sibs Appreciation Post!

(See the Water sibs one here) Azula has always been a controversial character. Love her or hate her. Or love to hate her, in some cases.

She has her defenders (myself among them) but my favorite character is still and for years has been Zuko.

I’m sad to see that recently Zuko has been getting demonized too (by all sorts of fans, not only Azula defenders, though some of them do it too). Maybe it’s backlash?

Zuko is a highly flawed character and it’s true sometimes his fans tend to whitewash him and his bad actions, but he’s also not the horrible monster that discourse has been painting him as recently.

So I thought we could all use some positivity about two complex and fascinating characters!

Let’s show some love for the Fire sibs! Whether it be hyping up their impressive feats, or their incredible portrayal of trauma and childhood abuse, or the funny, awkward moments that make them feel so human, or even how they personally speak to us.

I love the Fire sibs! How about you?

while i am procrastinating drawing in favor of staring blankly at the wall listening to my own tinnitus and heartbeat for some ungodly reason, i have decided to have the reworked sonau not include the barbarian set in any way (which has been freezing my progress of rewriting them to completion) bc it just doesnt fit them at all and explain it by implying that its a fake armor set with made up lore as essentially a piece of surviving propaganda made by the shiekah to make it seem more justified what they did to them-

(in my rewrite the sonau were an underground dwelling monkey-frog like creature feeding on nectar the nature of which made them turn into crystals of luminous stone upon death- which is also the energy source for the shiekah tech, additionally the sonau here were protecting ancient pieces of lost history of the past they were sure would lead to disaster if anyone of the surface would find them, and with believing the cycle of hyrules destructions is man made and self perpetuated at the center of their belief system it posed a danger to hyrules reputation- thus making them a target that ends in a double win for hyrule if eliminated)

-which would neatly also lead to perhaps a bit of tension with the existing shiekah, most of which of course dont know anything about any of it, but perhaps with impa being the only one to safeguard the only information left about it as a means of both preservation and to have it never be revealed :)

Ozai parenting style and Sozin's legacy!

Ozai's parenting style is very authoritative, demanding, controlling, and ruthless like the Fire Nation Empire itself. Ozai most definitely inherited this style of dominating and vicious dictatorial parenting method from Azulon who inherited it from Sozin. Ozai treats his children more like soldiers and pawns for the Fire Nation's grand schemes and designs. Their happiness, wishes, and desires mean nothing to him to the cost of his family's Imperial Legacy. Ozai and Ursa used to have a happy family with Zuko and Azula, but Ozai "changed" when the children became older. I believe Ozai decided to allow Zuko and Azula to have a happy and "normal" childhood that he didn't experience as a child. However, once he saw a change in becoming Fire Lord and fulfilling Sozin's dream and legacy. Ozai gave up on the lenient and caring fatherly act because it was unnatural to him given his own personal childhood and relationship with Fire Lord Azulon.

My headcanon is that Fire Lady Ilah died in childbirth to Ozai; which is why she wasn't able to give him the love, care, and happiness that children need especially early on. However, Ilah was able to provide those values and morals to Iroh who was probably 15 years old when she died. Ilah loved and cared for Iroh and gave him happiness during his childhood instead of the strict, heartless, soulless, and authoritarian emotionally abusive parenting that Azulon gave Ozai after Ilah died. Iroh continued Ilah's legacy with Lu Ten and then later with Zuko during his exile. I don't think Ozai was purposely being malicious and cruel to Zuko and Azula to torture them. However, raised Zuko and Azula via the Imperialistic and Authoritarian parenting style that he knows and values because of his father Azulon, and grandfather Sozin's legacy and parenting strategy.

Ozai's harshness and ruthless regarding Zuko has nothing to do with Ursa or Ikem forbidden love! Ozai wants Zuko and Azula to both prove themselves. Ozai doesn't favor Zuko or Azula. It is about which child will succeed Sozin, Azulon, and his legacy as future Fire Lord. In fact, Ozai doesn't want Zuko or Azula to think that they are the “favorite” child. He wants Azula and Zuko to improve through competition. Because of the “only the greatest of pressures can forge diamonds” & “steel sharpen steel” mentality. Ozai has the mentality of an imperialist warlord. Ozai isn't trying to be the world's most loving and caring father but rather continue and build upon a powerful and dominant legacy that his forefathers had created before him. He wants Zuko & Azula to be cold, ruthless, heartless, vicious, and brutal imperialistic warmongers like him (Ozai), his father (Azulon), and his grandfather (Sozin).

Ozai didn't invent bad parenting, child abuse, and unrealistic standards in the Fire Nation!
